Oh god missikat, that sounds terrifying. Is there nothing they can do to stop it, is it just bed rest? You're not alone are you, is your dp there with you? I'll be thinking of you, hoping that baby stays put! Flowers

Oh my god missikat. How are you feeling this morning? Hopefully you got a little sleep. I'll be thinking of you xxx

dottiek · 13/11/2015 06:32

Thinking of you Missikat. I hope little one stays put in there for many more weeks yet.

marmiteandcheeseplease · 13/11/2015 06:34

So sorry to hear that missi that sounds really scary. DPs SIL had something similar happen to her at 30 weeks and had to be in hospital for a couple of days. They gave her steroids and put her under observation, and she was sent home and she went on to give birth at a week overdue. I really hope you get a similar outcome. Flowers

IndomitabIe · 13/11/2015 06:36

Oh no Missi. Echoing everyone else to say I hope Flump (great name!) stays put! Rest up well. Thanks

Me624 · 13/11/2015 06:42

Thinking of you missi. It's a small consolation but thank goodness you made it to 23 weeks - my understanding is that before that they will not give any medical intervention to help baby survive. Hope he/she can manage to hang on for a while longer.

magpiedreams · 13/11/2015 06:59

Oh no missi
Thinking of you. Hope you can get some rest x x

TheMshipIsBack · 13/11/2015 09:28

That's really scary missi, fingers crossed things slow down and your wee flump stays put many more weeks.

hayleycookie · 13/11/2015 09:40

Thinking of you Missi. You are in the best place. Keeping everything crossed that baby flump makes his/herself at home for a long time yet!

RhubarbAndMustard · 13/11/2015 12:01

You poor thing Missi. Hope things have calmed down for you this morning and flump stays put for as long as poss. Sending lots of best wishes Thanks

BeautifulLiar · 13/11/2015 12:30

Rooting for you Flump Flowers

Crispylicious · 13/11/2015 13:19

Oh missi how terrifying. Really hoping flump stats put for some time. Would they consider putting a stich in the cervix to help? If it's any consolidation I know people who've had open cervix and made it to 36 weeks. Fingers crossed for you x

Trinpy · 13/11/2015 13:36

So sorry to hear you are having to go through all this worry Miss. Hoping Flump stays put for now. Marmite*'s story sounds very positive though, I hope the same happens for you.

ThePug · 13/11/2015 13:48

missi I can't begin to understand how terrified you must be, but you are in the right place. I will be keeping everything crossed that baby stays put for a while longer yet. Please keep us updated.

Sorry I've been awol, have had the busiest week of work ever thanks to me cleverly stupidly suggesting our industry should do a national awareness week campaign which fell entirely to me to coordinate! 12+ hour days, up at the crack of dawn, lots of evening meals out with colleagues and very little down time. Fortunately it's all wrapping up now so 'all' I have to do is catch up with my normal work!

To add to the vest/sleepsuit conversation, someone told me it's useful to have some longsleeved vests because if you put them in a cute dungarees-type outfit this is what they'll wear underneath. I know sleepsuits will be the norm in the early days for convenience, but worth keeping some longsleeved vests I think rosie

I've bought some multipacks in the Sainsburys sale, a couple of second hand bundles and SiL is giving us lots of DN's old stuff so I suppose I should be sorted but I have no idea how many of each size thing we have. Not much newborn I don't think but waiting to see how big baby is likely to be before I buy too much.

Got an email from our NCT leader last night in advance of the course starting on 3rd Dec. It has all the couple's first names in (8 couples) and I'm excited to meet them as hopefully we'll become friends! Is anyone else doing NCT? I feel like I'm starting ridiculously early (I'll be 26 weeks) but as baby will come two weeks early, this was the best-timed course.

Yes you're quite right. I am simply far too lazy to have anything other than sleepsuits Grin

ThePug · 13/11/2015 14:11

Haha Mship - as a first-timer I am probably being far too optimistic about what clothes he'll be wearing Grin

Missikat · 13/11/2015 14:33

Thanks so much everyone for your positive vibes and support, it really means a lot.

Seen dr again today, they've said that chances are baby will be here within next two weeks. They want to get the second steroid injection in tonight before considering a stitch as that could bring on labour and it's better at least that Flump's lungs have the best chance possible. If he or she hadn't arrived today or tomorrow, fingers crossed, they will stitch it up tomorrow, but because membranes are bulging it's probably only a very temporary fix. A week, two at best, but every day at the mo is critical tho so a week or two will make a massive difference to the prognosis. I just really want to get first to Monday -24 weeks- as that's when things start looking better. I'm doing a fairly good job staying calm, obviously a few wobbles when talking to mum and telling work (mostly when people ask how I am) but other than that trying to remain as upbeat and positive as possible. Thankfully this is my go-to state of mind which is definitely helping in this situation. Flump is moving around lots and all my obs are fine so it's now a waiting game. No more bleeding or any pain or contraction so that's a good sign. Still on labour ward for at least next couple days I'd have thought then onto another ward if Flump's still not here.

I'm hoping tonight I get some sleep as last night it was pretty non existent - about 1 hour of snoozing - and really hard as DH had to be at home with DS so I had to deal with all the news and everything else on my own. Thankfully friends and family have massively rallied around, my sister's driving from Devon to Nottingham with her baby to look after DS for next couple days, aunty is going to travel from Essex to Devon to look after my dad who had bronchitis (and dementia) to free up my mum to come for next week plus MIL coming from London next weekend. Mates have offered to be on call in night to have DS if labour starts and DH needs to be here quick if we're in between family help. It is so heart warming to see how quickly everyone has stepped in to help.

I hope you are all well and none of your little ones make any appearances before feb at the earliest! Xxxx

TheMshipIsBack · 13/11/2015 14:50

Pug I don't know, you might be just fine! There were lots of mums in the baby group I went to who had their little ones dressed in 'real' clothes most days. It's personal preference really - up to 6 months DS only ever wore the standard vest/sleepsuit combination, 6-9 months the same but with the feet cut off when he surprised us by crawling at 7 months. Then I think tights or leggings, vest and t-shirt for a while.

I love Slugs and Snails tights, btw, these are nice warm bright tights and we had several pairs, lasted well but were pretty worn out after DS got through them.

TheMshipIsBack · 13/11/2015 14:54

Missi So glad to hear you are being well taken care of. Big hugs to you and all of your family, and we'll all be hoping for the very best possible outcome.

BeautifulLiar · 13/11/2015 15:08

Oh missikat bless you thinking of others when all this is happening to you! Really hope things are ok, please keep us posted xxx
