LCR I love Aurora (nn Rory?! And to me not related to the Disney film, but the northern lights or Wayne's World set in Aurora, Illinois!) and Lyra!

Oh no, Ginger. Hope she perks up or turns round soon. I think at this stage they can still turn around and wriggle where we can't feel. (At least this is what I was telling myself when I couldn't feel mine for several hours this morning).

marmiteandcheeseplease · 11/11/2015 19:44

Sorry to hear you're stressed ginger, as others have said its still very early days for regular movement. Hopefully you can speak to a midwife to calm your fears and definitely speak about your anxiety issues.

I love love love the name Iris. DP totally vetoed it though as he said it was too old lady and DDs name is a bit 'classic' and not very common these days so he didn't want old lady names! I also really like Sophie but that was vetoed as was the name of my dads dog! And I like Aurora/Aurelia too!

My friend who was due last week who I suspected was in labour gave birth this afternoon! I don't think she got a home birth in the end though, think it was a long labour. She whatsapp me a pic this evening though of her doing skin to skin with her little boy, my heart absolutely melted. So cute. The next 17weeks can't go quickly enough, just want my baby now!

dobbythedoggy · 11/11/2015 20:41

Dd's been very quiet this week and the past couple of days has been very teary and started saying that bump is scarry and she wants him to go away. Tonight as I was tucking her in she announced that 'mummy and daddy won't love me anymore when baby bump comes'. She's only just 3 and I know she didn't come up with that by herself, just too adult in sound and not a concept she's grasped yet. We've been really positive about her becoming a big sister and she loves little babies to the extent she gets upset when I give someone elses baby back to them. Dh took her to see ils on saturday while I satyed in to wait for builders so I'm pretty certain one of them has said some nasty things to her! So that's not going to be happening again without me there, as he'll just leave them to it, when they've got form for things like this. Fuming as I throught I was going to be able to start trusting mil at least a little with her.

Otherwise, I'm 24 weeks today, and unfairly seem to be developing morning sickness type feelings again. Feel like I could sleep for a week, despite sleeping pretty solidly at night still. Seeing midwife tomorrow as under consultant care for 24 week check.

IndomitabIe · 11/11/2015 22:08

Wow, dobby, that's really out of order for your ILs to suggest as much to her! I'm outraged on your behalf!

24 weeks! Feels like the last big milestone! Shame you're feeling rough again.

I'm 21 weeks today. 3 more to go to get to 24. Sometimes it feels like this pregnancy is flying by (sometimes not so much!).

I can confirm that half a pack of double chocolate digestives and some sofa-time does perk up a baby!

RhubarbAndMustard · 12/11/2015 07:55

Oh dobby. My heart melted when I read that. You're poor DD to be feeling that way. I know girls tend to be more emotionally mature but I couldn't imagine DS saying that and he's 3.6. Maybe mention it to the ILS?

My parents can be pretty blunt with DS and says things like 'Mummy won't have time for cuddles with you when baby is here'. I know they don't mean it badly and they are trying to get DS to be more independent but it doesn't come out well! I did have friendly words with them and they've stopped doing it. I want him to look forward to having a brother, not resent him.

Ginger please try not to worry. I can only feel baby at certain times of the day and then often only very slightly at 23 weeks. I hope mw is able to give you some reassurance.

Rosieblossom123 · 12/11/2015 08:00

Ginger sorry that you're feeling stressed, like everyone's saying there's still plenty of room for your baby girl in there, I've been having regular movements and patterns since week 20 and now her pattern's completely changed, and I read that it's completely normal, I'm now 23+4 and still trying to learn her pattern as it keeps changing. If it's really worrying you, why don't you book a private scan just to put your mind at ease? just a cheap 15 min session?

marmite same, my friend just had her baby and when she sent me the picture my heart melted, made me even more excited now, 16 weeks and 3 days to go, hurry up baby!! Grin

So as you all know I'm a ftm, stressing over how many baby grows do I actually need to have before she's here. I've bought 1 pack of long sleeve vests (7 vests - up to 1 month) and 1 pack of short sleeve vests (7 vests - up to 1 month) and 2 sleep suits (newborn size), I want to buy some multi-pack sleep suits but don't know how many I should get and if I should get some in newborn sizes and 0-3 sizes ahhhh dp doesn't help either when he says we've got enough, like really? 2 sleep suits for a newborn is enough are you actually having a laugh??? Angry

TheMshipIsBack · 12/11/2015 08:46

Ginger I hope your midwife's able to reassure you today - at 28w the hospital triage will start taking reduced movements more seriously. This early, though, there are just too many places for those limbs to go! Placentas do move a bit, too (you've probably heard of mums with placenta previa coming back for scans to check if it's moved out of the way), and since yours was fundal (at the top of the uterus) at the scan, it may have shifted to the front a little and be shielding some movements that you had been able to feel before. I've got a pretty active little squirmer and am almost 24 weeks but still am getting periods of up to 12 hours where I don't notice movement - this was the same for me last time, till about 28 weeks when it really settled into a steady pattern. Make sure your cold drink is also sugary and fizzy, both of those can wake up baby.

Rosie Based on last time I'd say about a dozen vests and a dozen sleepsuits, plus one or two cardigans in each of sizes newborn, 0-1, and 0-3 should cover it. If you have a tumble dryer you can get away with about eight of everything but you will be doing laundry even more often! Don't bother with long sleeve vests unless your house is really cold - all you really need are sleeveless or short-sleeve ones as the point is an extra layer over baby's core/torso and the long sleeves are a huge faff because they catch on the sleepsuit sleeves and bunch up underneath. The sleeveless ones are especially easy to get on and off. You don't really need a pramsuit unless you'll be using a Bjorn style carrier (not usually recommended for newborns anyway) - an Ergo or Babyhawk style will let them have their legs curled up inside and you can stick a small blanket under their bum for warmth. And of course if they're actually in a pram they'll be tucked under blankets with their cardigan and hat, should be fine for all but the worst of March weather and why would you want to be outside in that anyway? Grin

Rosieblossom123 · 12/11/2015 09:32

Mship thank you so much, I might take the long sleeve vests back I kept the receipt, I see what you mean when they bunch up underneath that would stress me out haha I'll get another pack of short sleeve vests. I've got a tumble dryer but I think a dozen sounds like it will make life slightly easier.

I'm so worried about the weather in March I reckon it's going to be really cold which is good because that means I'll buy the winter clothes from the January sales Grin

TheMshipIsBack · 12/11/2015 09:41

Rosie That's a really good idea. You could definitely get the warm stuff then quite inexpensively. Also a footmuff and rain cover for the buggy - baby will be out of the carrycot by then if you have a travel system and into the regular seat, so you'll want it by Oct/Nov next year but it'll be full price then, way better to get it on sale in January this year iyswim.

TheMshipIsBack · 12/11/2015 09:42

Oh that made no sense at all. I meant that by Oct/Nov next year when it's getting cold and wet again baby will be into the regular seat ... so get the footmuff and rain cover for the seat in the Jan sales if they didn't come with the travel system!

Rosieblossom123 · 12/11/2015 09:59

Mship It makes sense hun but luckily the buggy I'm buying comes with foot muff and rain cover which saves me buying them but I could still buy winter clothes can't I haha

hayleycookie · 12/11/2015 10:11

Ginger I'm 23 weeks today and don't have a routine for movements yet. He sometimes doesn't move (or I can't feel him) for 2 or 3 days, then all of a sudden he'll give me a big jab when I'm relaxed in the evening. I'm sure there isn't anything to worry about, but like other girls here I suggest asking the midwife to 'dopple' you or booking a private scan to ease your mind. In a month or two you'll be feeling baby ALL the time and wishing they would stay still for a second, and get that foot out of your ribs!

Rosie Get the winter clothes! When I was pregnant with DS1 I bought him an outfit for 9-12 months because it was adorbs lol

tappitytaptap · 12/11/2015 10:21

A big bit of my tooth chipped off yesterday (a previously filled one) - is this a pregnancy thing?!

Gingerlady123 · 12/11/2015 10:28

Thanks it's funny because at 17 week gender scan and earlier private scan they said I had an anterior placenta and 20 week hospital scan said fundal placenta.
I think I felt a jab last night but it's in a different place to all the kicks I have felt and have been a bit unsure if it as her. Have text midwife she said she will listen in with Doppler but I can't get the time off work for it and having been off loads I'm a bit scared to take the time off.
I hope she moves soon and starts letting me feel her again. I bet in the next few weeks I will be begging her to let me sleep at night.

On a positive note- my partners sister is having her little boy tomorrow by planned c section. So excited to meet him. She had a emergency c section after a 72 hour labour last time so she opted for elcs this time. Hope it all goes well for her tomorrow.

Rosieblossom123 · 12/11/2015 10:31

hayley I will :) I was so naughty and bough her a Minnie Mouse swim suit I just couldn't resist and it was in the sale Blush haha it was 3-6 months so that's summer time anyways isn't it!

Rosieblossom123 · 12/11/2015 10:34

Ginger I'm sure if you speak to your boss they will understand hun it's only going to be for a couple of hours x

TheMshipIsBack · 12/11/2015 10:35

tappity Sadly yes. Teeth and gums can be [http://www.nhs.uk/conditions/pregnancy-and-baby/pages/teeth-and-gums-pregnant.aspx problematic in pregnancy]. That's why we have free NHS dental care from booking in until baby is 12 months. It's a great time to catch up on any dental work you've been putting off.

ginger Fundal just means top or high and they can classify any placenta that's above a certain point as that - doesn't mean it's not still anterior. Think of the position like a toupee that's slipped over the forehead Grin Legally you can take as much time off as you need for pregnancy appointments - you may need to provide your appointment card or the sheet from your blue folder with the appointments on it to your work. Take the time. You're not going to be doing anything useful at work until you've got some reassurance.

TheMshipIsBack · 12/11/2015 10:35

Proper linking: problematic in pregnancy (I am useless today!!!!)

marmiteandcheeseplease · 12/11/2015 11:48

ginger, as mship said, legally you can take as much time off as you need for antenatal care. I really think you should see the midwife so she can put your mind to rest a bit on the issue. Hope you start to enjoy pregnancy soon.

Off topic but I've just had a slice of carrot cake with the nicest hot cup of sweet tea ever. Oh it was blissful. Working from home and I just decided to take 10 minutes out to eat some cake and have a cuppa. Was perfect! Now back to work....

Gingerlady123 · 12/11/2015 13:08

Thank you I will do.
I assume I have an anterior fundal placenta then as they said anterior and hospital said fundal. I will see the midwife tomorrow morning like she said I could. She said all she could do is use a doppler at this stage as its so early on still. However I think I have felt baby but it feels different than before and in the centre instead of the left so a bit unsure

As your username says I have a marmite and cheese sandwich for lunch.
Still struggling with nausea but I've not thrown up in two days now! Yay.
Really annoyed with my boss at the moment he had a go at me because I wasn't doing my job quick enough and complained I could twist around to keep up better which would mean I'm constantly twisting all day long which hurts me.

IndomitabIe · 12/11/2015 18:51

Ginger my yoga teacher says no twisting - so your boss can do one!

DS was up twice last night being grumpy. He's got a bit of a cold but nothing that warranted screeching and howling at 3 and 4:30 am.

And then, of course, DS2 (as it is now!) started partying around in there for ages too! In a way, that part was quite nice. Though I'd rather not repeat it too often! I like sleep!

Very proud of myself that I've managed to pull together a hero costume for DS1 for CIN tomorrow. School sent a reminder text today - obviously I'd missed the letter/forgotten so knocked up his costume tonight! Go me!

Must pay closer attention to the letters in future!

Need to wedge myself off this sofa and do some work.

BeautifulLiar · 12/11/2015 19:31

Well done Indomitable! I got a text from school saying "As we have already raised money for cancer this year we are not fundraising for children in need. Thank you" Confused

Feeling pretty upset. Took DS for his first swimming lesson and DD2 left her beloved Teddy and blanket behind. I raced back there and they let me search but I couldn't find them anywhere and they hadn't been handed in. Gutted :(

Missikat · 12/11/2015 22:28

So, I'm currently on labour suite waiting for examination by the dr as had a bit of a bleed early this evening. Wasn't too worried but 111 said call labour suite and they said come in. Thankfully midwives have just listened in and heard Flump's heart beating away but now waiting dr. Keep your fingers crossed for me. X

marmiteandcheeseplease · 12/11/2015 23:18

That sounds really stressful missi, hope everything's ok.

Missikat · 13/11/2015 02:23

Thanks Marmite, not really good news here at all. My cervix has started to open, dr said 2cm, and they could see my waters bulging. Had the neonatal dr come talk to me as there is a chance I could deliver anytime. Shitting myself as at 23 weeks prognosis is not good at all. 30% chance of survival. Basically I am now in hospital until Flump arrives, hopefully much later rather than sooner. They have no way of knowing if it'll be tonight, tomoz, in a week, month or what. I just have to wait and hope I guess. Completely unable to sleep as running though all the crazy things I need to think about. Keep everything crossed Flump stays well put for as long as poss. Xx
