First trimester worries and joys. Test taking, morning sickness, midwife appointments and scans. It's all happening.

Can't believe we filled up a thread already. (I'll get this deleted if someone's already created a second thread, but I didn't see one!

Tiffany - I guess it totally depends on how you think she'll react. Have you texted her anything like that in the past and if so, how did she react? Would it be best saying something face to face or do you believe she realised she was out of order after you replied to her?

I hope you're feeling a bit better after her comments. I think everyone on here thinks that they aren't justified at all.

royaldub · 30/09/2015 11:46

phew caught up with the thread! Flowers to those that are having a worrying time, these early weeks are not easy are they?

I was so sick yesterday but today I dont feel as bad, I absolutely hate when I am sick but when I am not I am worrying, vicious cycle!

Tiffany - try and not let comments about your weight get you down I know easy to say, but I think it if it makes you feel better to let your mam know how it makes you feel, then I would tell her, no point in getting yourself down about it and you have to think of yourself and the baby, [hugs] to you

ljjeffro · 30/09/2015 12:38

Nicky a lot of people i know who have used those tests have said that they are unreliable. I toyed with the idea of using one but i knew that I'd end up thinking exactly the same as you.
Im not feeling great today. I was fine until i got the appointment dates for booking in and scan. Now for some reason i keep getting upset at work and have to run to the toilet. Ive convinced my self I'm having another mmc. I dont even have a reason why. I think its probably because i have no symptoms yet. I need to start thinking positively. Does anyone know: If you've already had a mmc are you more likely to have another one rather than a normal mc if you're going to have have one at all? (I hope that makes sense). I need to snap out of it. I was watching something on good morning Britain this morning about womb transplants for women who cant carry children and i was thinking 'God, that's gonna be me!'

Nicky333 · 30/09/2015 12:56

ljj From what I've read, it is possible to have multiple MMCs but not very likely.

I have no symptoms either. The midwife sent the form off for my scan, took blood pressure etc and said not to worry. I'll just have to wait and see, I guess.

PinkBubbles1 · 30/09/2015 13:06

So pleased to hear the good news about the scans.

Sorry some of you guys are having a tough time at the min.

Tiff, weight comment is totally uncalled for. If it makes you feel any better I too find myself having moments of breathlessness. You are not on your own there.

Nicky, those tests are good at positive and negative but the weeks thing isn't very accurate, try not to stress it.

Sorry I haven't been on hear for ages, days just seem to be going so quickly. Hello to all the ladies who have recently joined.

Fluffy I think talking to someone In RL about your feelings is the best bet. Hope you are okay, you sound very mixed up as to what to do for the best.

I can't hope u are okay.

SharkBastard · 30/09/2015 13:38

Hello folks!

I'm 6w2d pregnant with my second child, I previously miscarried this time last year, weirdly. I have a daughter who is 7 (was a lone parent), and this is my husbands first child. The EDD is 28/05/2016...long time away

I've pee'd on more sticks than I care to imagine, I'm not overcome with joy at the moment due to last year's shock pregnancy and loss! This one was not planned either, I ovulated late and it obviously wanted to get caught!

The only symptom I'm having is my boobs being huge and painful, I've not got sickness, which I had terribly with my daughter, so I'm still in panic mode! We are having a private scan on Saturday when I'll be 6w5d, and hope to see a heartbeat, if not, such is life :(

Sorry to read of these posts, it's a scary time!

SharkBastard · 30/09/2015 13:39

Also, I'm a fat fuck and they made me bloody miserable during my pregnancy with DD, but I will not allow that again, I'm older and wiser, and fatter ha

TiffanyAtBreakfast · 30/09/2015 13:49

Thanks so much for the kind replies ladies. I think I'll just leave it be and try to ignore her - If she brings it up again I'll have to nip it in the bud. Confided in DH and he's been really sweet and has cheered me up Smile

Have a strange desire to POAS at the moment, just for some more confirmation! This waiting game for the midwife appointment is rubbish! Another 3 weeks to go for me.

TiffanyAtBreakfast · 30/09/2015 14:06

Oh no - Shark did they treat you badly because you're bigger?

Mamama31 · 30/09/2015 14:56

Hi everyone!

Had my gp app today, she just did urine sample, blood pressure etc and all fine. I've made an app to see the midwife on 14th Oct but apparently booking in doesn't happen here until 12 week scan appointment. Midwife will give me more details on 14th I'm sure.

Had a lovely day today in the sun, nice walk with a friend and lunch. I'm not feeling as much nausea today, wondering if the fresh air has helped maybe. Of course I worry when I don't have nausea, and don't like it when I do- lose lose situation!!!

Tiff that was very mean spirited of her to say that to you and the last thing you need right now.

Sorry to hear some of you are still spotting, I know just how anxiety provoking it is- please get some reassurance from your midwife and arrange another scan. I think early scans really ease the mind. Big hugs it's just so scary.

SharkBastard · 30/09/2015 15:05

The midwife I had was negative, when I requested to move as I felt her and her colleagues behaviour was horrible and upsetting, the next midwife was lovely!

Just be straight with them, say you're aware you're bigger and that there is fuck all you can do about it at the moment other than monitor it. Don't let negativity ruin this experience, it's really no major thing, millions of overweight women have gone through childbirth, not ideal, but what is!!

TiffanyAtBreakfast · 30/09/2015 15:49

Hi Mama Smile, ooh that's exciting! Glad all went ok at the GP app.

Thanks Shark that's really comforting to hear! Glad you had a much nicer midwife second time around.

Brenna24 · 30/09/2015 16:54

How are Southy and ODog doing today? I hope the cramping has stopped.

Tiff that sucks. My niece was a size 20 going into her pregnancy and has just delivered a perfectly healthy 8lb 6oz baby after a healthy pregnancy. As you said if you were that unwell you would not have got pregnant. We each of us have our own optimum size andyway. I had to shout at my mum when she was winding me up about the midwives while I was spotting and waiting for them to call me back in Italy. After her asking me for the 5th time why they hadn't called me back I threatened to send her for a memory test when we got home and stomped off to bed because she was really stressing me when I would have been ok left alone. It did me the world of good and shut her up.

Nicky333 · 30/09/2015 17:12

It works both ways, too. I got 'a look' today because I have a BMI of 50.3 and 50.0 is considered the lowest it should be. Anything less than that and you're underweight. All I can say is, it's a good job the midwife appointment wasn't last week, when I was a pound less.

I'm naturally this weight, never been on a diet in my life. It's how I am! I don't need to be getting looks because of it.

ODog · 30/09/2015 17:23

Welcome new joiners!

Spitting has stopped which is good but I have felt sick all day and puked about an hour ago. My mum has had to come and take DS as I can't face doing his dinner and DH not home until 6.30ish. My mum said she was sick last night though so I'm hoping it's a bug and I'm not going to have this for a few weeks. I know it's rubbish but I just can't cope with actually being sick and a toddler who has helpfully done 5 poos today

Emzlou15 · 30/09/2015 17:38

Hi all, thanks for the kind words, had a long anxious wait in the waiting room with my mum (DH couldn't get time off work). Scan went well, we saw the heartbeat again (phew!) and baby has grown appropriately which is good they put me as 6+5. What was nice was that my mum was there to see it and now she's even more excited and amazed Smile

Sounds horrible Gray, glad you're starting to feel a bit better, it will all be worth it!

Nicky if you're worried can you go to your GP or midwife and ask them to do bloods to check HCG levels?

Emzlou15 · 30/09/2015 17:47

Oops thought I was all caught up but missed a page apparently... Those worrying about no symptoms, the only symptoms I have are bloating & spots. Everyone's different some people don't get symptoms at all whereas some develop them a little later on. Just appreciate no symptoms because I'm sure it won't be long until you get hit with sickness Confused

Snowflake16 · 30/09/2015 17:52

Hi all, hope you don't mind joining.
I'm currently 5wks 3 days with our first due 29/5/16, I'm 31 and from West Yorkshire.
So happy I found this tread, it's nice to find other people going through the same things at the same time.
My symptoms are not too bad yet though I feel like I haven't slept in a week, I'm so exhausted all the time.

Nicky333 · 30/09/2015 19:02

I've decided that we have three options:

  1. Wait until the 12 week scan
  2. Get a private scan
  3. Buy a Doppler. Has anyone used one of these? Are they any good? I'm talking the £20 ones from eBay.
Nicky333 · 30/09/2015 19:03

Hi Snowflake! Where in West Yorkshire are you? I'm near Wetherby.

royaldub · 30/09/2015 19:13

Hi ladies, hope all is well!
Nicky like you I am not sure what to do either, my first scan and booking in isnt till 5th November when I am nearly 13 weeks- dont know how I can wait that long, but that is how its done here, can only get early scan here if you had complications in previous pregnancy or previous mc.

so I am thinking of forking out for private scan but not sure if that will help ease my mind and I was looking into dopplers today aswell on inhealth.ie they do angelsound ones which are supposed to be good but bit pricey I think can hear heartbeat from ten weeks, I just hate all this waiting.

Tiffany glad you have made a decision and your dh is looking after you

Nicky333 · 30/09/2015 19:17

The angel sound ones are in eBay for £20.

Nicky333 · 30/09/2015 19:18

On, not in. Stupid iPad thinks it knows better than someone with an English degree and OCD.

royaldub · 30/09/2015 19:24

oh they are? must look at ebay soas they are going for €35 on inhealth and thats a sale they have on at the mo, thanks for that Nicky!

SharkBastard · 30/09/2015 19:29

We've booked a private scan for Saturday as I miscarried last pregnancy and my husband wants to get excited but I keep telling him that we need to be sure! Costing us £90, mind Shockbut will be worth it either way I guess. I had a Doppler for my pregnancy with my DD, I found it really reassuring and used it from 16 weeks onwards! Took a bit of getting used to differentiating between mine and DD's heartbeat but I got there and learnt where she laid etc. will probably get one if this pregnancy works out!
