First trimester worries and joys. Test taking, morning sickness, midwife appointments and scans. It's all happening.

Can't believe we filled up a thread already. (I'll get this deleted if someone's already created a second thread, but I didn't see one!

It's terrible that A&E cannot offer scans, i'm sorry you have had to go through this grapefruit x

I have booked myself a private scan for tomorrow as my spotting has been pink the last two days and I'm feeling so worried. It was such a lot of money but my epu can't see me until monday and I don't think I can wait that long, especially as DH cannot come with me monday. Don't think I will sleep tonight either muffin

Southy84 · 22/10/2015 14:09

poster just had a read back and really glad to hear your baby is ok, sorry to hear that there was possibly a twin though, hope you're ok today Flowers

BabySocks · 22/10/2015 14:14

Sorry to hear about the ladies who have miscarried it is so hard. Just to say be aware of possible complications if you do have an ERPC I had scarring and Ashermans left me infertile for 2 years. I wish I had waited a little longer to see if nature had taken her course xxx

lovesLemonDrizzleCake · 22/10/2015 14:18

So sorry to read the bad news, brenna and grapefruit. Miscarriages are horrible.

I am hoping to join you low level, though, as still scared. I am 10+2 after a FET (frozen embryo transfer, after IVF in 2013). We already have a DS from that round of IVF who is 16 months. On the road to parenthood we had a ridiculous number of rounds of fertility treatment, miscarriage and many years before DS arrived. Now being pregnant after just the single ET feels very unreal.

Mamama31 · 22/10/2015 15:23

Welcome loves! Wow you have been through a lot I so hope all goes smoothly for you.

Brenna and Grapefruit, there are just no words. I am so sorry for what you have gone through. I had a mmc in April after ttc for 20months and could not believe it after ttc for so long! So I completely expected another near 2 yrs before anything would happen again but got bfp in August 4 months after mmc. So take your time to grieve and do the things that help you remember in a positive way- we planted a tree in our garden and it flowered beautifully over summer and still has one little flower on it and it makes me smile. I never thought I'd feel that way again after the mmc but time and keeping a memory has really helped us. Big hugs, I know the despair will be so overwhelming for you both right now x

ODog · 22/10/2015 17:51

Welcome newcomers.

brenna and grapefruit, what you are going through sounds horrific but like mama says I hope you find a way to grieve and remember in a positive way.

MollieRos · 22/10/2015 18:35

Grapefruit I'm so sorry to hear your news, sending you lots of positive thoughts to get through the next few days particularly, and then the coming weeks after that. It's so sad to hear everyone's stories, I've been lucky so far and not experienced miscarriage, but I can only imagine how hard it must be. And a lovely idea planting a tree mama it's so important to find a way to grieve, but then to somehow find some smiles as time goes on. Lovely to hear from you Brenna your story sounds so hard but you seem to be dealing with everything so positively. I'll be thinking of you on Monday.

Thinking of everyone else with scans coming up too. My friend had her 12wk scan today and saw a lovely wriggly little baby waving their arms and legs around, which was great to hear.

Mamama31 · 23/10/2015 09:10

Hi ladies. I didn't want to post about my scan yesterday as I wanted to be sensitive and respectful in relation to what was happening on the thread. I really hope Brenna and Grapefruit are getting lots of support.

My 12wk scan was yesterday (but I was 10+5), they put me a day back again so new due date is 15th May. Pictures were very fuzzy so not great but we did see more on the screen itself; baby was moving around a lot, very active and heart beating away. It was a big difference from our 9 wk scan as could see the head/body/hands/legs etc so was lovely but feel if it had been a couple of wks on we would have seen more and got better pics. But our main concern was that baby is well and it was :)

Definitely booking a 16wk private scan, couldn't possibly wait ten weeks for the next one!! My 20wk scan is 30th Dec, at least it is this year....just!!!!

Hope everyone else is doing ok, it's the wkend phew!!!!

TiffanyAtBreakfast · 23/10/2015 09:43

Hi all. So so sorry to hear about any bad news Sad sending un-mumsnetty hugs and thoughts to you all. Flowers

Congrats on the happy scan Mama, must have been so lovely to see baby moving around and well!

I have my first midwife appointment this afternoon and I'm strangely nervous. I guess it's just not knowing what to expect, as well as being worried that they are going to be unkind / make a big thing about me being overweight (and if they do I might accidentally cry - I feel very delicate emotionally at the moment lol!)

Hope everyone is feeling okay.

frozensmoothie · 23/10/2015 09:46

Welcome newcomers.

Brenna and Grapefruit thank you for sharing your stories, so sorry to hear what you've gone through but you both sound incredibly strong. Flowers

Southy I hope your private scan goes well today. Let us know how you get on.

Mama glad to hear you had a good scan yesterday Smile

Good luck to everyone else with scans coming up. Mine is on Tuesday and having the combined screening too. I'm still feeling nervous, despite having the private scan at 10+6 and everything looking ok.

So glad it's Friday, absolutely exhausted and propping my eyes open with match sticks this morning.

Mamama31 · 23/10/2015 09:48

Tiff I hope your mw app goes well. I hope you get a nice mw!

TiffanyAtBreakfast · 23/10/2015 10:13

Thanks Mama.

Ooh frozen, I bet it will be all you can think about all weekend Smile

I'm glad it's Friday too, at least I'm only working a half day today because of seeing the midwife! DH is coming with me and is being all sweet and excited about it even though I don't think anything exciting will actually happen!

Any exciting weekend plans for everyone? By some miracle we are not really doing anything apart from Sunday when we're going to my parents for Sunday lunch. Looking forward to pottering in the house in my pyjamas.

ODog · 23/10/2015 10:36

I have my scan on Monday. I'll be exactly 12 weeks so hoping to see quite a bit and do the nuchal testing too. mama were they able to do the nuchal testing so early?

Hope your appt goes well tiff. It's mostly just form filling but they do sometimes weigh you in some areas (they didn't in mine) so there will likely be some discussion about weight but they should be supportive and not nasty.

PosterEh · 23/10/2015 10:44

I just want to say goodbye and good luck. After my reassurance on Wednesday, the baby didn't have a heartbeat today so it's all over for me.

ODog · 23/10/2015 10:55

Oh poster I'm so sorry. It all seemed to be looking good for you a couple of days ago. Not much luck on this thread the last few days. Please take care of yourself.

Selfishly I am now super nervous for the scan on Monday.

DorotheaHomeAlone · 23/10/2015 10:56

Poster so sorry to hear this. You've been so strong through all if the ups and downs. This is really unfair. I hope you have lots of rl support to get you through. Flowers

TiffanyAtBreakfast · 23/10/2015 10:58

Poster I'm so sorry to hear that Sad

Thanks ODog, fingers crossed I'll get a nice mw and it'll be fine! I hope your scan goes well on Monday, try not to worry too much.

Brenna24 · 23/10/2015 11:41

Poster I am so sorry. My heart is breaking for you. Have a huge hug from me.

Mama please don't not post something good because some of us are having a rough time. I love hearing that others are having good news. Not least it gives me hope that my next time may be a very different story. I am so glad to hear your baby is doing well. You have every bit as much right to enjoy your good news.

Best of luck with your appointment Tiff. They may weigh you but they should not make you feel bad about it. My niece gave birth to a healthy baby last month after a good pregnancy and she was a size 22 at the start of the pregnancy. One of my other friends was about a size 16 or 18 at the start and worried about her weight. I think she brought it up with her midwife to preempt being made to feel bad and the midwife explained that there may be a slightly higher risk of gestational diabetes/blood pressure problems/preeclampsia but you can get those regardless but warned her agains extreme dieting while pregnant as that is likely to do more harm. She was offered appointments at a bariatric clinic, didn't put much weight on at all during the pregnancy and is now 36 weeks and healthy as they come having had a complication free pregnancy. So don't let them upset or bully you.

notsoold · 23/10/2015 12:30

tiff my bmi is 33+ and I was weighted at the booking app this week. It meant that I need to take higher dosage of folic acid and had to get a prescription from the gp. The gp said they never heard of it. I have a really lovely very young midwife ( she was dc3 midwife 2 years ago) she doesn't judge but did suggest to me to keep my exercise routine (zumba yoga and pilates).

poster my heart goes out to you. I am so sorry....

HoopoeQueen · 23/10/2015 12:41

Poster, Grapefruit and Brenna, what a horrible time for you. Make sure you and people around you are looking after you Flowers

Mama were you offered a re-scan? At my scan last week it was too early for the nuchal testing (11 weeks) so I had another scan yesterday. The put my EDD back another day to May 5th. Picture wasn't so good as I completely forgot to go with a full bladder, but at least it doesn't look like my baby is smoking/waving a gun in this one!

Is anyone else feeling light-headed/dizzy? I have been all week and it's got so bad that I didn't go into work yesterday, and midwife told me to stay off today and see the doctor. My blood pressure is lower than normal but not so low that anyone is worried about it, and all my bloods came back normal.

May 2016 babies - thread 2!
Bishboshbash · 23/10/2015 12:42

So sorry to hear that Poster, take care of yourself x

Tiff my bmi is 32. My midwife didn't even mention it, although she did laugh when I said my shoes weighed a stone...! Hope you get a nice midwife.

We are off on holiday to London tomorrow to visit family but I will try and keep up while I'm away! Have a good weekend everyone.

GrouchyKiwi · 23/10/2015 13:00

Poster, I am so sorry. Hope you have lots of strong support, it has been such a rough time for you. [hugs]

So sorry to hear that Poster, I hope you're ok. It's been a tough week on this thread Sad

Good luck with your Midwife appointment Tiff hope it goes well.

Lovely scan Hoopoe, glad all is well. I have been feeling light-leaded and dizzy on and off too. Normally mine is related to tiredness or food. I usually feel better once I've had something to eat which is why I'm constantly grazing and have put on 5lbs so far Confused

lovesLemonDrizzleCake · 23/10/2015 13:38

I am so sorry to hear your news poster. What a roller coaster ending badly :(

How did it go with the midwife tiff? Mine never weighed me last time. They did ask my weight at some point and I had no idea so made it up...

Hope the scan went well southy!

Nice scan hoop. I like it. Mine yesterday was a lot more alien-like (different orientation more than anything, I think).

Nicky333 · 23/10/2015 14:30

My midwife weighed me and measured my height.
