First trimester worries and joys. Test taking, morning sickness, midwife appointments and scans. It's all happening.

Can't believe we filled up a thread already. (I'll get this deleted if someone's already created a second thread, but I didn't see one!

Welcome hoop and congratulations, another amazing scan pic :)

VickyHW · 15/10/2015 08:55

I thought getting to 9 weeks with minimal nausea would mean I'd escape morning sickness but I've woken up this morning retching, all hot and dizzy. Hopefully it's a one off but I'm still feeling really ropey. Absolutely exhausted too.

Is everyone having a flu jab? I just got a text from my doctors about it, forgot preggos are supposed to have them...

VickyHW · 15/10/2015 08:57

Hoop that's a lovely scan, I love the cute little legs! I'm so impatient!!

Southy84 · 15/10/2015 09:15

My nausea has ramped up now I'm 9 weeks vicky so totally feel your pain, hopefully it will calm down soon though. I've had my flu jab already with work.

PeasinPod1 · 15/10/2015 10:12

Lovely scan pics all!! Mine have been so early they seriously had to zoom in and its pretty blurry, though one last week at 9 weeks is a bit clearer. Like you all can't wait till the 12 weeks ( well 11.5 in my case) big NHS scan!!

On another note- this is a very very sad so those prone to crying maybe dont read but read this -

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3273103/Toddler-choked-grape-Pizza-Hut-dies-hospital-Mother-pays-tribute-angel-hundreds-release-balloons-support-family.html?login#comments

and it spurred me on to book DH and I into a Red Cross baby/children first aid course, just incase anyone is thinking about it. I read MN reviews and they are all 5/5- say its brilliant and so useful.

Mamama31 · 15/10/2015 10:14

I'm getting my flu jab on sat, the midwife I seen really recommended getting it as soon as possible. Also at 28 weeks have to get whooping cough vaccination.

My sickness is mostly at night now, but at bedtime it's really quite bad and hard to get over to sleep. Fine once I do, but difficult getting comfortable and feeling nausea when trying to relax and get off to sleep. I have been doing some meditation/relaxation type techniques just to try and completely relax my body but I find at night my mind goes in to overdrive!!

frozensmoothie · 15/10/2015 11:27

Thanks everyone! Looking forward to seeing all the other scans pics over the next month or so.

I've got my flu jab on Saturday at Boots as my GP couldn't fit me in until 7th Nov and I didn't want to wait much longer as it takes a while to become effective.

Peas I've also looked into booking doing a baby/child first aid course. Such a sad story Sad

I've started using the hair bobble trick to extend the waistline of my trousers which is actually working really well and should mean I get a few more weeks wear out of my pre-pregnancy clothes!

Nicky333 · 15/10/2015 12:19

I've not clicked on that link but I read on Facebook the other day that grapes are the same width as a child's windpipe and if a child chokes, it's incredibly difficult to dislodge as the skin gets slippery. Paramedics have sometimes not managed it. It's recommended you either peel grapes or cut them into halves or quarters.

Mamama31 · 15/10/2015 12:28

Peas I read that as well, so so sad :( I think I should do a first aid course, DH is excellent at first aid but I am rubbish and fear that I would panic if I didn't know what to do. I should really book on to one, good idea!

I'm home from work on my lunch and so tempted to have a nap but if I do I'll prob be so late back....zzzzzz....

GrouchyKiwi · 15/10/2015 12:41

The Red Cross baby first aid course is excellent. I think I need to go on a refresher.

In our area there are paramedics who will come and do a free course. You just have to get a group together and provide a venue. So helpful. Our guy Norman came when babies were brand new and then again when they were 5 months and about to wean. I've used the back slaps on dd during weaning and it worked perfectly. Gave me the confidence to do blw and give adventurous adult food from 6m.

Southy84 · 15/10/2015 13:15

I have a massive fear of choking and will definitely be looking up first aid courses, I will be chopping everything into very small pieces when weaning. It's so sad that story, can't imagine how those poor parents are feeling :(

Just over an hour Til my mw appointment and I'm feeling really nervous, haven't been back to said hospital mw unit since I was last pg and worried I will get a bit emotional.

frozensmoothie · 15/10/2015 13:38

Good luck with the appointment Southy let us know how it goes.

DorotheaHomeAlone · 15/10/2015 13:51

Good luck, southy.

PeasinPod1 · 15/10/2015 14:17

Good luck South .
Great to see others considering courses/have already done so.

The story is just beyond tragic...
Def taking DH along with me though as my mind is becoming ever more of a sieve and wouldn't want to forget it all Confused Dorothea your local paramedics/Norman sound amazing, how brilliant they do that?!

DorotheaHomeAlone · 15/10/2015 15:43

He was fab and very patient with all of our pfb questions about layers of clothing and nappy rashes etc. This St. John's video covers the back slaps www.sja.org.uk/sja/support-us/our-campaigns/baby-choking-the-chokeables.aspx

We were very lucky to have one super organised mum in our nct group who arranged stuff like this while the rest of us floundered about in our pjs!

DorotheaHomeAlone · 15/10/2015 15:44

Should add that no one needs to worry about choking for a while yet! Not til they can grab stuff and put it in their mouths. Let's get past the 12 week scans first!!Wink

Mamama31 · 15/10/2015 15:46

Sounds amazing! I def need to do a course.

Southy hope your MW app goes well. Emotions are all over the place at this time aren't they.

GrouchyKiwi · 15/10/2015 16:26

Had a migraine today and it's really knocked me down. I can't take the preventative medicine while pregnant so that makes migraines more likely. Thankfully MIL is coming up tomorrow to stay a few days and help out. I'm looking forward to getting a bit of a break.

PeasinPod1 · 15/10/2015 16:39

Dorothea was only thinking about it as my DS is near same age of the boy in this tragic case so made me think about time I finally took a course Smile

Grouchy know how you feel, been getting awful headaches/migraines too. I have one right now but I'm meeting some friends after work, wish I could just dive into bed.

PeasinPod1 · 15/10/2015 16:41

smiley face not intended there btw Sad

Southy84 · 15/10/2015 16:43

Thanks everyone it went well my mw is lovely and even called the hospital and moved my scan from the 13th to the 5th, Part of me is pleased the other part is feeling a bit sad as this was the due date of our first baby :( I know I have to stay positive though

That is amazing dorothea about the course.

MollieRos · 15/10/2015 17:26

I think I spoke too soon saying I only had low-level headaches and sickness, last night I was awake half the night with a horrible headache and feeling so sick I couldn't move. i took paracetamol in the end which took the edge off but didn't get rid of it.

First aid courses are a good idea for when babies are a bit older- I do them regularly with work, but a refresher is a good idea and I know DH would like to do one.

royaldub · 15/10/2015 20:42

hi ladies! quick hello!
lovely scans, im so jealous! another two week wait for me! I could go for private scan but something stopping me lol so will wait for the official date!

thought was over the nausea aswell but yesterday and today suffering from that sick feeling all day, no vomiting apart from first thing in morning.

will catch up properly tomorrow, night! x

PearlyFish · 15/10/2015 21:22

Pink I love the fruit and veg updates too, especially through my first pregnancy. Vicky have you got Ovia set to random objects rather than fruit/veg? (e.g. toy soldier) It did advertise that it could do that but I haven't worked out how to change settings. Canapé does sound a bit variable tho!

Yay for good scans Billy, frozen, 99percent and hoopoe. I finally got my scan date through for the 29th October and can't wait.

Southy I'm glad they could move your scan, but sorry to hear that the new scan date is a sad one for you Flowers xx

Hope the hyperemesis is improving 99percent and icant. Also hope the nausea is on the way out for mama, mollie, royal and anyone else suffering with it x

ODog I'm not looking forward to the weird stretched out belly button again. That's a weird thought that it's starting already... and you wouldn't know if it wasn't for the red dot!

10+5 today.
