First trimester worries and joys. Test taking, morning sickness, midwife appointments and scans. It's all happening.

Can't believe we filled up a thread already. (I'll get this deleted if someone's already created a second thread, but I didn't see one!

Mollie - the 'Pilates for dummies' dvd is only a few quid on Amazon, I found that to be a good introduction and a surprisingly good work out for something that feels so gentle!

Mamama31 · 12/10/2015 20:46

I'm so rubbish at yoga it's actually embarrassing haha! Had to stop going to the classes as I wasn't getting any more flexible and just rolled around the floor laughing and looking redic! I am a runner but I've stopped since I found out I was pregnant. Just walking now mainly, and I do walk often so I'm hoping that will keep a bit of fitness. I'm too scared to do anything high impact at all, including sex at the min! After 12wks though I do plan to get the love life back on track...DH will be pleased about that dear love him even though he's terrified of dtd now. I'm glad to hear he's not the only deprived DH on here. I haven't really been in the mood much either I think all the nausea/worry about scans/previous spotting has just consumed the last lot of weeks so dtd has not really been on my mind at all.....cant say the same for DH I'm sure.

MollieRos · 12/10/2015 21:08

mama I used to be a runner and did lots of cycling too a few years ago but got out of the habit somehow. And I think perhaps pregnancy is not the time to take those up again! I have a dodgy back from an old injury though, so I was thinking that pilates/yoga could be good for general strengthening. i did do one yoga class about 10 years ago and I was hopeless so I reckon a DVD in the privacy of my living room is the way forward!

I haven't really been in the mood either, it's just not on my radar at all. Poor DH was feeling a bit deprived for a few weeks, but I think he's resigned to his fate now, and looking forward to the 12wk scan! (and yep, probably much more on his mind than mine!)

ljjeffro · 12/10/2015 21:23

I haven't dtd either. Mainly because im so tired all the time. Dh is working in Bristol tomorrow and Wednesday and is back on Thursday, so i feel like i should give him a going away bunk up, but im already knackered and trying to stay awake for the new series of The Walking Dead (which is great by the way). I may have to send him on his travels unsatisfied. Poor dh!

Hi everyone, just checking in. I've just read through the last few pages but really struggling to get on here as much as I would like.

I desperately need to start some sort of exercise as I'm just so tired all the time, I think I need to get active to fix it. I won't be joining a gym though as there just aren't enough hrs in the day to warrant the money on a membership for me. I need to leave the car behind and start walking, I seem to of got in a rut of driving everywhere as so shattered. Can anyone recommend an app for the iPhone for steps walked, it maybe just what I need to motivate me. What is the recommended amount each day? Does anyone know?

It's so exiting that our first 12 week scans will be coming up soon! Can't wait to start seeing the pictures. I don't have a booking in date or scan date yet. I'm sure I will get one soon though.

I'm also going to make a real effort to get on here more as it is so lovely to share pregnancy with a group like this.

PeasinPod1 · 13/10/2015 09:41

So interesting that almost all of us have not/are not DTD! Really thought we were a bit strange for not, but very glad its perfectly normal apparently!

I'm now 9+2 ( eems like a few of us!) but not received either first booking appointment/midwife appointment or my 12 week scan date (only seen my GP to confirm I'm preg & she said she'd get the ball rolling) has everyone else had/received theirs by now?

VickyHW · 13/10/2015 10:01

I booked in at 7ish weeks and they sent my 12 week scan appointment letter out last week. Maybe ring your GP and see if you can book it yourself with them in case they've forgotten?

Also I'm a bit glad hardly anyone else is shagging haha, I felt a bit bad/embarrassed about it, especially as we only married in July, it's all a bit cliche, no sex now you're married etc! Hopefully back to normal soon :D

notsoold · 13/10/2015 10:08

I am 7+ weeks. I phoned and go5 my nooking appointment for next week and they will phone and book the scan when I am there.

PeasinPod1 · 13/10/2015 10:27

Vicky thankyou so much- on your advice just called my maternity unit, after a lengthy check they'd sent my letter out 10 days ago- and my booking appointment was - yesterday! Completely missed it... Sad

They were v nice though and rescheduled that for next week & my 12 week scan for 29th October.

VickyHW · 13/10/2015 10:46

Oh how annoying!! At least you've got a date now though :)

I'm 9+1 (by my working out) and my 12 week scan was booked in for October 30th, so just a day behind you on both counts but when I went in for a scan at my epu last week the doctor said that would be too early for the tests they'll be doing and they rescheduled it for a week later, so they might say the same to you? But if that is the case you'll get two scans if you need to go back a week later...I guess it depends from hospital to hospital.

TiffanyAtBreakfast · 13/10/2015 10:47

Hi all, been gone ages but I'm back!

DH and I DTD last night and I'll admit I did feel a bit weird, but wanted to persevere as he's going away for a few days this morning. As soon as we finished he said "Hope I didn't hurt the baby" so I told him not to flatter himself! Wink

How's everyone feeling? I feel a weird detachment at the moment because of all the waiting, although I've now told most of my friends (couldn't keep it in any longer!). 9 weeks today apparently, according to Ovia app.

Wondering when I'll get a 12 week scan letter - My midwife appt is next Friday, will they book me in while I'm there does anyone know? Wondering whether to ring the GP and chase it up but the receptionist is scary!

GrouchyKiwi · 13/10/2015 10:51

Heh, Tiff.

We're still enjoying sex, which is good for DH because I think I'm going to get SPD again and he won't get any once that sets in.

My booking appointment is next Wednesday, which is now actually close. Still have to wait nearly a month for the scan, though.

I think different places do different things re booking scans. I think for the last two the scan was booked after the booking appointment, but this time the midwife booked it in for me when I self-referred. We've moved house recently.

royaldub · 13/10/2015 11:02

Morning Ladies,

Hope all is well!

I self referred at 5 weeks and very next day I got letter from hospital for my booking in and scan the same day, I probably could have done it later as I have been waiting since 5 weeks for November 5th but its nearly here now yay!

First appointment is going to take about 2-21/2 hours I think!

ODog · 13/10/2015 12:26

Anyone else feel like they have a tiny bump? It's there in the morning (admittedly it does grow during the day with the bloating excessive eating), but I'm only 10 weeks so I'm a bit concerned I might be the size of a house. Last time I was begging for a bump and wearing maternity clothes asap. This time I want to keep my skinny jeans as long as possible. I was so sick of maternity clothes by the end last time!

fizzydrink1807 · 13/10/2015 12:46

I've booked a last minute private scan. just can't wait till 12 weeks! will be 8 weeks at my private scan on saturday.
I really want to tell my daughter when we go on holiday at the end of the month but feel like i need to make sure everything is ok before i do

fizzydrink1807 · 13/10/2015 12:47

ODog, I am in maternity trousers already. when i went to the docs a couple of weeks ago she told me off for wearing skinny jeans and said leggings from now on...

royaldub · 13/10/2015 12:51

odog I definitely have a bump and I am 9 +3 today, apparently if it is a subsequent pregnancy you show earlier!

I am going to my mams tomorrow for the day with my son so will need to hide it, not ready to tell her yet and especially when DS dosent know yet either want to wait till 12 week scan is over and done with!

VickyHW · 13/10/2015 12:55

I'm a bit of a chubber and didn't have a flat belly to start with, but I definitely can’t get away with wearing tighter dresses any more, I’ve noticed people looking when I do (and two people have asked my editor if I’m preg already, but I think that’s got more to do with me switching to decaf tea and weeing every 10 min) Maybe I’m just bloated but it feels a bit different to normal!

GrouchyKiwi · 13/10/2015 13:32

I have a little bump already and am losing my waist. Only 8 weeks! I think it's earlier than with DD2.

Had a vivid dream last night that we're having quads so it had better not be that!

StormTr00per · 13/10/2015 13:36

Definite bump-age here! But mainly just bloating I think. Muffin top in my normal jeans is not a good look.. finally got a letter with my scan date, 27th Oct. It's going to be a looooong 2 weeks.

Bishboshbash · 13/10/2015 13:40

I already look about 5 months preg thanks to just being a bit fat so I don't think I have noticed any bumpage yet. Also I have a craving for trifle this week (why can't I crave vegetables or something?!) so another 3 stone weight gain here I come! :-S

frozensmoothie · 13/10/2015 13:54

I think I've got a bit of a bump coming but my stomach wasn't flat in the first place. My stomach and boobs are always the first place I put on weight so I don't think anyone's noticed yet (or if they have they haven't said anything!)

Trousers and bras are definitely becoming tight but I have no energy to go shopping at the moment and a bit wary of buying too many new clothes / bras only to outgrow them again!

I have to undo the buttons on my trousers every night due to the extreme post-dinner bloat where I look 6 months gone!

VickyHW · 13/10/2015 13:55

Haha my only craving has been for jelly babies, I bought a packet the other day and I think they'd got hot and the powder on them had melted or something, they were rubbish anyway, I was so cross!! Wish I was craving broccoli or something healthy too.

PeasinPod1 · 13/10/2015 14:26

Also definite bumpage (or jelly belly) here too! Stick it out even more in the hope I suddenly look really pregnant and get offered a seat on my super crowded train, but no such luck yet Smile

Mamama31 · 13/10/2015 14:39

Hey ladies. I don't think I have a bump as such...but a bit of a rounder tum if that makes sense haha! but I've actually lost a couple lbs, surprisingly given that all I eat is carbs but I haven't been eating a lot due to the nausea...usually brunch and dinner and very little else. So I'm still wearing my skinny jeans but only the few pairs that have a lot of stretch in them and they are actually very comfy...not the ones you have to drag on to your body whilst lying down!

So tired today and I think that makes my nausea worse...didn't sleep well at all last night felt like I tossed and turned all night and couldn't get comfy at all. Hoping for a better sleep tonight and trying not to nap so that I can get an early night....zzzz...so hard to stay awake!
