First trimester worries and joys. Test taking, morning sickness, midwife appointments and scans. It's all happening.

Can't believe we filled up a thread already. (I'll get this deleted if someone's already created a second thread, but I didn't see one!

Sour things work for me, sour sweets or really cold lemon and lime juice! Or try sickness bands?

29redshoes · 06/10/2015 07:59

Still not feeling sick this morning and I'm sure my food aversions are gone. Worrying myself silly about MMC. Going to call GP, no idea if they'll do anything given I've got no bleeding or cramping though. I'm 8+6 now, just can't stop thinking I should surely be feeling worse now not better.

29redshoes · 06/10/2015 08:01

Although brenna it does sound like you've had a very similar experience. Maybe I just worrying unnecessarily, it's just that my sickness was so bad last week I can't understand how it can have gone!

Bishboshbash · 06/10/2015 08:21

Your sickness generally gets better as you head out of the first trimester not worse 29. Still worth a call though if you are worried x.

Brenna24 · 06/10/2015 09:14

Yes 29 I feel really quite good. I had 3 weeks of nausea which was mostly kept at bay by SeaBands and now I just don't need them. I have the occasional wobble where I worry about that but then remind myself that all pregnancies are different. My mum said her morning sickness didn't last very long on any of her pregnancies, so I guess that is just the way mine id going too. I am a it gutted that my 12 week scan isn't until 13 weeks as I was looking forward to the reassurance from that and I now have to wait an extra week for that but I am just trying to distract myself with life, which is at least busy enough to keep me entertained.

GrouchyKiwi · 06/10/2015 09:20

Parsnip You could try bland things like water crackers. Salted crisps sometimes help.

I just had lemon meringue pie for breakfast and didn't feel ill while eating for the first time in a few days.

29 If you're normally fit and active then I'm sure hula hooping will be fine! Just listen to your body and if it feels uncomfortable or weird then stop.

I think it's fairly normal for sickness to start easing at around the 8 week mark. As Bish said, as you get closer to the second trimester everything (usually) eases and you start feeling pretty great.

With my last preg the only thing that kept nausea at bay was serious carby stodge accompanied by iced drinks...got addicted to Starbucks Marmite & cheese toasted paninis...yum Grin

ODog · 06/10/2015 09:40

I have found my nausea has subsided the last couple of days and my app says that 9 weeks in normally a turning point for pregnancy sickness.

Finally spoke to my midwife and organised booking in for Thursday pm.

9+1 today! Less than 3 weeks until my 12wk scan!

Nicky333 · 06/10/2015 10:54

My sickness hasn't started at 7w today. I keep thinking I feel a little sick but then realise I'm just hungry.

fizzydrink1807 · 06/10/2015 11:08

Hi all, I am 6+2 today. Due date is 29/05/2015.
Still waiting for my booking in appointment and scan date Sad
My sickness is a bit on and off but the bloating!!! OMG I look like i'm 6 months preg not 6 weeks!
Am having to go and have a nap in my car at lunchtimes at the moment too. roll on 12 weeks!

ODog · 06/10/2015 11:29

Welcome fizzy.

ToffeeAppleMarsBar · 06/10/2015 11:29

Hi everyone! Sorry to have been a little bit absent - I've been reading but just not posting.

Like you 29, I've been worrying a little this week that my symptoms seem to be subsiding a little bit. My boss asked how I was feeling yesterday and I said I had been worried because I'd been feeling really good - she told me I was crazy! I'm 8+2 today. I was sick a couple of times last week but only puked up the squash I'd just drank so not proper sick. Feeling more nauseous since I've been back at work so think I just felt better over the weekend as I was more rested and had lazy mornings!

Very excitingly, I had my 12 week scan date come through yesterday. Mine's on 2nd November (when I'll be 12+1) so very lucky to be having it so soon. Less than 4 weeks to go. AND I CANT WAIT! Obviously very nervous - I haven't had any early scans so I have no idea what's going on in there.

Every day, I feel very lucky to be doing this with my DH. Last night I caught him reading several pages of a Week-by-Week Pregnancy book my boss gave to me. It was so cute watching him reading it. He likes to be reassured that everything is 'normal'. He doesn't say much how he feels but it's little things that show me he really cares about what's happening!

Sorry to hear some people are still spotting - Southy, you really are having a terrible time. And ICant if I remember rightly. Keep those chins up and everything will be okay.

ODog · 06/10/2015 11:47

That's very cute toffee.

I'm all over this thread today as I'm so bored at work.

Been googling local hypno birthing courses today and I'm pinning all my hopes on that for a calmer birth this time! DH not so keen as he think it's a load of hippy nonsense. But then he didn't love my collection of slings until he had to look after DS while I was at work during summer hols (my mum normally has him on the 2 days I work but since DH is a teacher there was no need over the summer) and he realised that with our kid, they are basically essential!

Off to google lovely stretchy newborn slings! And maybe a new ring sling. Oh and my toddler connecta won't be suitable so maybe a baby one of those too. just mentally spent about a million pounds

ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 06/10/2015 12:30

Thanks toffee I've been the same reading but not posting, get spotting 3-4 times a week. Seen MW and she said any heavier/change in colour then get checked out straightaway. This pregnancy lark isn't easy !

Mamama31 · 06/10/2015 12:31

Hi everyone. I'm 8+4 today and I think my sickness isn't as bad when I'm well rested also. I've been off work and have been napping often and sleeping well at nights too. Didn't get up until 11am today. But when I'm busy out and about I can feel the nausea kick in from lunch time- fine in the mornings but generally worse as the day goes on if I don't rest.

I just made a lovely brunch- scrambled eggs, mushrooms and toast was yum! Having quite a lazy day today so not expecting much nausea but that does worry me as well.

Can't wait for our scan on sat just hoping all is well in there. Then it's back to work for me next week and no doubt I'll start feeling grim all day as I'll be busy and have a lot of driving also. Oh well, can't stay off forever!

Hope everyone else is doing ok.

Mamama31 · 06/10/2015 12:32

Brenna I know.....thank goodness for wooden floors. if my dog had done that on carpet I literally would have stripped it off and thrown it out haha!

ljjeffro · 06/10/2015 13:01

nicky I'm like you on the sickness front. I'm 6+4 and still nothing. I do keep feeling sick every now and then but I don't know if it's just psychological cos I think I should be feeling sick if that makes sense. The only symptom I seem to have is sore boobs which isn't all the time. Im trying not to worry about it as this is how I felt last time when I had a mmc, but i keep thinking i was still pregnant for 7wks last time and had no symptoms during that time so it's not necessarily related. (I hope that's not too confusing).

BeckleinDisguise · 06/10/2015 13:02

Bish, that's really reassuring I have heard before that some pregnancies take a little longer to get going. I am slightly worried as my scan has put me 17 days behind where my LMP puts me but there was a little heartbeat yesterday and I’m focusing on that and hoping it makes up for lost time by growing strong and healthy.

29 I think for a lot of people symptoms can ease around 9 weeks, I’m sure that’s the point where HCG starts to level out?
After the highs of yesterday I am starting to feel down again today. I am no longer particularly crampy (I’m putting that down to the intrusion of the IV scan) but I am now just dripping red blood (sorry if TMI) like the middle few days of a period, on the plus side there doesn’t seem to be stringy clots in it like there was when it was brown so perhaps whatever is causing the bleed is clearing itself? I’m trying to stay positive but its hard when I feel so much is stacked against me. My dates, even when I POAS, are so out for the size of this baby and the huge (for me) sore hard boobs are now just huge boobs. But. There was that tiny heartbeat yesterday and I am trying to concentrate on that, I have a photo of the teeny little jellybean too which is a comfort.

BeckleinDisguise · 06/10/2015 13:04

Ljeff and Nicky, with my boys I didn't get any sickness or nausea at all until about 9-10 weeks, it is different for everybody and every pregnancy so try not to worry and enjoy being able to enjoy your food!

Mamama31 · 06/10/2015 13:29

Beckle you have been through so much it is no wonder you feel down and worried. Such a rollercoaster of emotions you have had. When are they scanning you again to check growth?

My boobs seem a lot less sore during the day and a bit softer but go sore and rock hard at night, anyone else have this? Maybe it's excess fluid/bloat at night time. I still poke them often to check they are sore. Even when I'm half asleep up going to the toilet I poke my boobs to check they are sore haha!

PisforPeter · 06/10/2015 13:51

29 if you are worried, do another pregnancy test to check still +ve
X

PeasinPod1 · 06/10/2015 14:15

mama yes re. the boobs - like rocks at night!!

Mamama31 · 06/10/2015 14:28

Peas what is that about?! Insane isn't it! They def seem bigger and solid at night time. So random!

PeasinPod1 · 06/10/2015 14:30

No idea...but put DH's hand on them yesterday to feel the madness of them! Not complaining though, nice to have big silicone looking - and feeling- boobs for once ha!

ToffeeAppleMarsBar · 06/10/2015 15:26

Problem with me Peas is that I think I've already grown accustomed to my bigger boobs so know can't tell if they're still 'big' or not - you know what I mean!? I mean, I know they are because I'm still wearing my bigger sized bras but I don't feel they look as big or notice the difference as much when I look in the mirror (you know, because I'm always checking out my boobs in the mirror...!). It's crazy how quick you become accustomed to something isn't it?

JUST HEARD THE BEST NEWS OVER LUNCH. My best friend has gotten engaged!!!
