First trimester worries and joys. Test taking, morning sickness, midwife appointments and scans. It's all happening.

Can't believe we filled up a thread already. (I'll get this deleted if someone's already created a second thread, but I didn't see one!

Grey that's amazing news on your scan! A little jelly bean...and sounds like they were very thorough with you which is great :) glad all is well :)

Southy that's good we can compare notes! I'm looking forward to seeing the difference between 7 week and 9 week scan, hoping for more detail as was just a tiny bean with flickering heartbeat last time and I'd love to see some more!!! Hoping it goes well for us both. I am getting a little anxious about it again.

Southy84 · 03/10/2015 19:36

I know mama I wish it was sooner now, I've started spotting again tonight and got mild cramps to go with it :( I'm so fed up with just getting myself on track and then feeling like I'm back to square one again. How have you been feeling?

Mamama31 · 03/10/2015 20:16

Southy sorry to hear that, it's so annoying and I know when I have spotting it really sets me back. I really hope yours buggers off!!! Fortunately I haven't had any since last sat and so hoping it stays away can't cope with it. Glad you have your scan though and hopefully it will reassure you again x

Grapefruit8 · 03/10/2015 20:42

Evening all! I had my private scan today as well and everything is as it should be. Measuring a day under 8 weeks as we thought, saw baba and the heartbeat so I'm feeing much more comfortable about it all. So reassuring to hear that everything is okay. Congratulations to the rest of you with early scans this week/weekend Star

Southy84 · 03/10/2015 20:55

Thank you mama I feel like I'm being high maintenance and an emotional wreck, just want it to stop :(

grapefruit that's brilliant news I'm so glad your scan went well too :)

Mamama31 · 03/10/2015 21:18

Grapefruit that's lovely news, I'm sure you are delighted :)

Southy you are not being high maintenance at all, I was exactly the same with the spotting and I am still on constant crotch watch every time I go to the toilet. Just wish the spotting would stop so you can relax, it's just horrid. Big hugs!

Southy84 · 03/10/2015 21:20

Thank you mama x

ODog · 03/10/2015 21:22

Great news on all the positive scans.

mama my DH was saying it was pregnancy symptoms too! He was even saying his stomach was bloated. No DH you just eat too much and don't exercise. Anyway he seemed fine as we were at a friends this pm for her birthday and he was knocking back the beers with her DH.

On that matter I'm pretty sure she has me Sussed. She did a raclette and asked me about 1000 times if I was ok with unpasteurised cheese. I was like yeah it's fine why wouldn't it be... (It's cooked so I'm pretty sure it's fine anyway and if not too late but it was so good) Then her DH was asking why I wasn't having just one drink even if I was driving. Just tried to deflect with, oh I'm not used to driving in London, want to keep my wits about me...so...quickly change the subject!

I'm not sure why I was so determined not to tell. It's more of a challenge now!

MollieRos · 03/10/2015 21:42

Brilliant news Grey and Southy I'm really glad both your scans went well.

Mamama31 · 03/10/2015 22:24

Odog too funny! I think DH's just like to be part of it all, scared of missing out. But let me tell you, if they really had the nausea they would know all about it haha! Suppose it's cute in a freaky sort of way ha!!!

MollieRos · 04/10/2015 10:18

We went out last night with friends, and now I'm having a panic that I ate pink meat. We ate in a kind of trendy food hall place (they do all kinds of organic local food, really delicious!). I had a burger, which I thought I surely couldn't go too far wrong with- it was a proper posh "grass fed, 100% organic etc" (i.e. expensive!!) burger, and was pink in the middle. As in, it was cooked enough- it was supposed to be pink. I only realised when I was most of the way through, pretended I was full, and my friend polished the last third of it off.

I realise there's nothing I can do about it now, but how risky do people think this is? I think the risk is toxoplasmosis, but I'm not sure how I'd know if I had it!

royaldub · 04/10/2015 10:22

Hi All :)
Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend

Grapefruit great news about your scan

Southy sorry to hear about the spotting, look after yourself.

Was at dinner with OH family last night and managed to keep our news a secret, I said I had a bad migraine which I do suffer from, think they bought it but I was interrogated few times during the night about it especially when they know my love for white wine and cocktails and I didn't even attempt a glass of wine, myself and OH dad are the only white wine drinkers so he was left with a full bottle as he had ordered one before we arrived thinking I would be up for sharing it with him Grin

Its a fab day here, well I can see sun through the crack of the curtains, I am still in bed while OH and ds are at training Blush

Hope everyone is having a lovely Sunday

ODog · 04/10/2015 10:35

Please don't worry mollie you will be fine. But given I chugged back about a ton of unpasteurised cheese yesterday maybe I'm not the person to talk. It was cooked, I'm sure that's fine.

ljjeffro · 04/10/2015 11:22

mollie I wouldn't worry too much about it, I've still been ordering medium steak when I go out for dinner.

ljjeffro · 04/10/2015 11:23

Sorry I mean medium rare

MollieRos · 04/10/2015 16:02

Royal well done on keeping it secret! It's so tricky. I ended up in a conversation last night about who in our friendship group could be pregnant, and how it would be the end of an era. I kept desperately trying to change the subject!

I've been doing some toxoplasmosis googling and just having a bit more of a panic- I've been gardening for a few hours today and it turns out you can get toxoplasmosis from soil, particularly where there might be cat faeces. How did I not know that?! The local cats seem to think our garden is a litter tray, so that definitely applies (lesson learned early on in our garden- always go in with a trowel first!) I wore gloves, but still got soil on my hands. I don't know whether to mention it to the midwife- I have a feeling she'd think I was overreacting, but I have no idea how easy it is to catch.

PosterEh · 04/10/2015 16:09

Mollie you've probably already had it and therefore are immune especially if you've had issues with cat crap in the garden for a while.

DorotheaHomeAlone · 04/10/2015 16:40

Mollie really I wouldn't panic. I eat pink meat all the time, dig soil, eat sushi. The risks are unbelievably small in all of these and you're going to be pregnant for bloody ages. Fine to cut stuff out if you want but don't fret about the odd slip up.

Is anyone else sick of lying and fudging the truth the whole time. I'm becoming a recluse because I just can't be arsed + no booze+ tired. Roll on 12 weeks. Just 12 days to go.

ODog · 04/10/2015 16:57

Second what dorothea says re: toxoplasmosis risk. It's so tiny. As long as you practise basic hygiene (eg wearing gardening gloves/washing hands etc) then you will be fine. I have cats and freaked out last pg when DH went away and I had to do the litter tray (we have trained them to go outside now thank god!) but was told the above, don't handle it direct and wash hands. All was fine with DS and all will be fine with your LO.

MollieRos · 04/10/2015 17:53

Thank you all for the reassuring words. I'm usually totally level headed but somehow I've become an anxious mess since I found out I was pregnant! I need to get a grip Smile I'm sure you're right and it's fine.

Dorothea I know what you mean, and I'm only 6 weeks! I'm very jealous of you being so close to 12 weeks. I found out the other day that one of my friends is 9 weeks pregnant, she's told a few people early as she's been so unwell. It was such a strange conversation, as I knew I was also pregnant! I'm such a bad liar, I'm just waiting for someone to jokingly say "you're not pregnant are you?!" I'm sure my face trying to arrange itself into a neutral expression would totally give the game away.

How is everyone doing after the weekend?

frozensmoothie · 04/10/2015 20:45

Hi Everyone,

I've been lurking for a while but finally got around to joining!

I'm 32, first baby, currently 10+1 with an EDD of 30th April but thought I'd join the May thread!

I've had my booking appt and blood test but scan not until 27th Oct when I'll be 13+3 so I'm in a constant anxious high state of alert until then, I wish it was earlier!

I've only told a few people in real life so it's nice to find a bunch of people going through the same thing Smile

Grapefruit8 · 04/10/2015 20:49

Hi frozen Smile how is pregnancy treating you? A question I have been meaning to ask everyone... Who is finding out the sex at their 20 week scan and who is planning on keeping it a surprise? would love to know!

Greyhorses · 04/10/2015 20:54

Hi frozen, welcome to the thread!

I have had a bit of a bad day today, Im still vomiting hourly and lost my temper with OH as he has no sympathy at all and keeps trying to tell me to get over it and eat something...
Then my sister visited with her (very loud!) toddler and my youngest dog was terrified and spent the whole time hiding under the kitchen table growling. Part of me is worried incase she is the same with the baby although she's never been aggressive to me, OH, our other dog or our cats but she does not like strangers. My sister mentioned getting rid of her which would be impossible as she has major health problems that cost thousands of pounds a year to maintain. I work with both dogs so they are literally my other babies and I am with them 24/7. I certainly won't be rehoming them but I can guess that having two german shepherds and a baby is going to cause some controversy Hmm

Maybe an early night will make things better Smile

frozensmoothie · 04/10/2015 21:04

Hello Smile

I've not been too bad so far. Lots of nausea and wretching but no actual being sick. Have been very tired and also very anxious and over emotional! The nausea seems to be easing slightly though I still can't brush my teeth properly. Have resorted to a children's toothbrush and bubblegum flavour toothpaste! I'm struggling a bit with tiredness at work and have to work 6 days in a row this week so slightly worried how I'll cope! Have also had to give up goojg the gym for now due to lack of energy.

I definitely want to find out the sex at the 20 week scan. I hate not knowing things!! What about everyone else?

Southy84 · 04/10/2015 21:35

mollie Dont worry hun I think a lot of the advice is almost a bit ott in some cases just to be on the safe side, I know someone who had Brie and had a huge panic but after speaking to their midwife they said a lot of the time you shouldn't worry, most things are safe. sometimes meat is slightly pink but is however cooked fine.

dorothea totally agree with the lying... Fed up with not being about to talk about it.

Thank you royal been taking it easy today and had my worst day so far for nausea so hoping thats a good sign. Hope you've had a nice weekend.

Welcome frozen I know what you mean about waiting for ages for your scan, mines 13+5 :( and not till 13th November.

Sorry to hear you've had a bad day grey I think your dogs will be fine, you will get to introduce your baby and get them used to him/her and they have trust in you, it must be hard on animals to have a small child appear who they don't know and them being very loud, I know my cats wouldn't like that, but I think that it will be different with your own.

grapefruit I love surprises so wouldnt want to find out, how about you?
