Joining from the relaxed TTC-ers. Hoping to see everyone here soon Grin

My stats:
Age 36
DS 29 months old, still bf once a day at bedtime.
Currently 7 weeks pregnant.
History: had a mc at 9 weeks prior to DS - also had bleeding while pg with him but all was well.

Been feeling constantly ill for a week now! Last time I ate to feel better but it doesn't make any difference this time. Only actually been sick twice though. Had to fess up to the parents/PILs already as so off colour. Started taking spatone sachets today to try and increase my energy levels. Looking forward to speaking with a midwife to see what else I can do, if anything.

Reebok hope your 3 hour window extends and you experience life without sickness v soon. Sorry you are also getting some nausea Decca.

Midwife appt / booking in was fine they did the bloods , took urine sample all the usual, also got my maternity notes & scan form. Still suffering with nausea & exhaustion but nothing like Reebok.

Bit nervous about telling my work, I don't know why. So it's good to hear that your telling workmates went well Lost. Guess it must all feel a bit more real now.

lostindubai · 04/10/2015 08:13

Yes it does Apple. A few of them had guessed but I was surprised it wasn't more tbh! Glad your booking in went ok Smile

My latest unwanted symptom of choice (to go along with all the others) is headaches. Last three nights I've either gone to bed with one or woken up with one. Paracetamol seems to be helping but it's horrible. And yesterday I was sick twice in one day which hasn't happened before. Seems my symptoms are getting worse not better!

Hi all, glad to hear everyone is making small steps in progress, whether to appointments or feeling less sick!

Had the scan on Friday, dating adjusted by only one day, so it was bang on 12w0d! All described as normal which is reassuring. I was a little distracted at first as DH had DD, and she started to get a bit worried by what was happening to mummy, wanting to be held, so he took her out after a few minutes. But it meant I could concentrate after that on the screen - so lovely to see the teeny baby there, moving about! It wasn't in perfect position so the sonographer gently budged it, but this meant I got a good look at all the wriggling, so cute! And lovely pics of the teeny little hands with all the fingers. They even did a 3D which does look a little alien-like due to head still being large, but it was still fun to see.

I had to tell work admin because I wasn't sure if I legally had to declare or not, as my job contract ends soon. I admit though I am waiting before telling others/sending scan photos until we have the genetic test results back. They have a higher threshold for amnios here than in UK, so hoping I don't get in that bracket.

Had two days of much less sickness, so hoping that's the sign of better times to come!

darkpandora · 05/10/2015 15:22

Hey everyone glad everyone is having days where the sickness passes hopefully we will all be past the sickness soon Smile

how exciting to all who have had scans so glad they all went perfectly for you and you got to see your beautiful babies!! I wonder how many boys and how many girls there will be Grin

I have just 2 weeks till I finally have my scan! I am beginning to freak out now it's so close im scared the screen will be blank and there will be no baby Hmm

I've told a close friend and I because I am a member of an adult drama group and we are working on a show I had to let the choreographer know for health and safety reasons.

Good luck to all those in the same boat as me still waiting for scans and appointments and to all in here take care of yourselves remember we are growing humans! Smile

Reebok · 05/10/2015 16:54

Hi all, lovely to hear about the scans. It makes it all seem more real. Glad your appointment went well Apple. Sorry to hear about the nausea. Dubai hope the headaches clear up. Pandora I know it's hard not to stress. All will be well for your scan...fx!

Had my second scan today....I'm 10 weeks 1 day so it's definitely put me a week back which has upset me...as it means an extra week of sickness. I'm holding out for the 16 week mark as that's when hg subsided with dd. Going to the hospital today has taken it out of me and made me feel worse. Excellent care there as they have said if I'm struggling in current meds which are strong, they will put me on steroids....which I don't want but good they are offering it. Also did kidney and liver function tests on me to check I'm not getting worse. Ah I just want this sickness part to be over.

Notrobusta · 05/10/2015 17:36

Hi everyone. Good idea to create another thread . let's hope we can have a relaxed pregnancy.
Stats
Age 39
DD 9, DS 7
Currently 7 weeks pregnant with number three

Feeling sick as a dog. Feel much worse than with previous pregnancies. Have a bit of a fear I could be having twins due to the amount of sickness/nausea I am experiencing so early.

Bluepigoon · 05/10/2015 20:04

Sorry you're still so poorly Reebok, but at least the hospital are being helpful.

I phoned up to get my scan date today and it's booked for the 21st, I can't wait for that to come round! Everything's slightly stressful at the moment, we're in the process of buying our first house and were meant to complete tomorrow, but the sellers at the top of the chain have asked to delay for 2 weeks. The earliest date that it looks like we can complete now is the 21st, which is also the last day of our contract in our rented house. So if we can't get in any sooner, we'll be getting our keys at about 2pm, I've got my scan at 3pm and we need to move all our belongings to the new house (which is just round the corner), clean our rented house and get the keys back to the letting agent by 5pm. And I can't help with any heavy lifting. Argh!

Clearly that's not going to work, we're just waiting to hear if there's anything that can be done so that we can move in sooner, hopefully we'll find out soon. The stress and crazy hormones aren't a helpful combination!

We're waiting until the scan before we tell anyone, I can't wait for the subterfuge to end!

Hope you've all had a good day.

lostindubai · 07/10/2015 16:55

Hi all. I think I'm slightly improving on the sickness front still eating like a horse and mostly junk food but oh well! I'll be 14 weeks tomorrow.

Good luck for your results InFrance. I declined the Downs test again this time. Can't be bothered with the possible worry! We had a false alarm at 20 weeks last time around and it gave us several days of terrible anxiety before we had the all clear (and this was a test which was not optional - it's actually scary what they check for during scans).

The headaches have abated thanks Reebok. How are you feeling? Can I ask what effect steroids would have? I've not heard of them as a treatment for sickness (but to be fair my knowledge on this is virtually nil!)

Notro - congratulations! So pleased to have you here with us Smile sorry to hear you're feeling crappy though x

I sympathise Blue. We have just sold our house and hopefully moving before Christmas. Your situation sounds incredibly stressful! Hope you can find a way around it.

Well I've just finished my choc biscuits and about to tuck into a pack of doritos. Do excuse me... Wink

OP posts:
Reebok · 07/10/2015 20:10

Congrats notro! Sorry to hear you feel unwell.

Blue, that sounds so stressful! Hope things get sorted.

Dubai glad the sickness is subsiding. Hope I'm as lucky as you to stop feeling sick by 14 weeks. Had a rough couple of days...today wasn't awful which is good as tomorrow I have my booking in app and just being outside is going to take it out of me and make me very sick. I don't go out except for doctors or hospital at the moment...haven't since the beginning of sept when I got signed off. Well...at the moment I'm on the strongest drug used to treat hyperemesis...ondansetron which is a drug used to treat chemo patients. While its cut down my vomiting, I'm still being sick daily so the consultant was concerned. The next step after ondanaetron is steroids which are used to stop the vomiting. Problem is it can put you at risk of developing GD. So I've decided against it. On top of gd, I've read some stories online about still birth so it's scared me. Looks like I will just have to try and battle through hyperemesis. I managed somehow last time with dd...here's hoping I can do it again and it subsides soon!

darkpandora · 07/10/2015 22:42

Hey everyone Smile

Congrats notro so happy to have you here with us we all understand how it feels to feel sick early pregnancy can be rough hope you feel better soon.

Blue that's sounds like a lot of stress to be putting yourself under remember to take care of yourself and I hope you get it sorted.

Dubai glad to hear your headaches have subsided yay 14 weeks your in the second trimester!!! and I'm also A junk food queen right now I never usually eat crisps but I can't live without quavers! I'm really trying to be healthy tho..

Infrance how awesome to see baby in 3D! hope the test results come back all clear

Reebok sorry to hear you are still being so sick Sad really hope it passes soon. Sorry if I'm being really stupid here but still learning pregnancy lingo etc what's GD?

In my news not much is happening still waiting for my first scan and screening on 19th only About 12 days away!! Not that I'm counting down or anything Hmm and I have totally gone off sweet things which has upset me as I was the biggest chocoholic and now I can't even eat two fingers of a kit Kat!

Do any of you have any crazy cravings yet?

lostindubai · 07/10/2015 23:08

Thanks for explaining Reebok. I can understand your reluctance to use steroids. Re your booking in - won't they come to you? Here my booking in was done in the home (both times). Maybe it's not standard where you are but would they make an exception under the circumstances?

I think GD is gestational diabetes have I got that right?

Pandora I started with quavers, then moved onto walkers now it's doritos! Bizarre how it keeps changing. I'm also enjoying haribo sweets, which I usually avoid as they're not vegetarian (I'm not actually veggie but I try to avoid meat where I can). I'm also eating ice cream pretty much every night - Ben and Jerry's cookie dough or Haagen Daas vanilla Blush

InFrance2014 · 08/10/2015 11:42

Hi all,

Welcome Notro and congrats!

Think I might also be entering 'normal' life again, had a few days now with very minimal sick feelings. Still hard to eat a full meal but I wonder if that's just after weeks of not being able to! Crossing my fingers for you Reebok that this time around you might even improve earlier than last time, who knows. Really hope your family is giving you support.

All this talk of junk food is making me want some myself... Trying to stick to healthy stuff in large part because of constipation fear (thank god no probs since the traumatic one the other week!).

We decided to go for the test this time as I am frightened if the baby turned out to have very severe physical or emotional problems, requiring very significant care, that it would really impact on DDs quality of life. First pregnancy we didn't get test as I only found out too late for main one, and it felt like too much stress, when we would not have terminated for downs. But perspectives can change 2nd time around I guess. I know it's an extremely emotive issue for many, hope nobody is upset by my view.

With the moving house stuff, we will probably be doing it next July, back to UK. Not sure what's more scary, during pregnancy or with a 3 month old!?!

Reebok · 08/10/2015 17:30

Yes GD stands for gestational diabetes. Not a silly question at all pandora.

Thanks infrance hopefully it subsides earlier. I miss being me and being a mum to dd. I made it through booking in...they don't do home visits. Midwife was really nice and sympathetic. It wore me out for the day though so have been stuck in bed.

Infrance glad sickness is subsiding. I would say moving in pregnancy is hard. I moved when pregnant with dd and it was so difficult with a growing bump.

Wish I had cravings. Had a craving for ice for a while but I think that was down to the constant thirst I felt and not being able to drink any water. Cannot wait to eat food and drink in chugs again! Enjoy your junk ladies.

lostindubai · 09/10/2015 06:50

Not upset at all InFrance (sorry if I gave the impression I might be) I know everyone has their own reasons for doing, or not doing the test. I find it quite interesting more than anything really. Our main reason was that we'd already suffered a mc and didn't want to get as far as needing an amnio, so just didn't bother starting the process.

Ooh there's a few of us moving house in the next few months then! Must be the nesting instinct Grin I know it's easier to do renovation etc with a bump rather than a baby but as for moving, no idea. I guess if you already have dc one extra won't make too much of a difference (especially one which stays still rather than runs around!)

Glad you had a nice midwife Reebok. I hope today is an easier day.

OP posts:
InFrance2014 · 11/10/2015 15:31

Hi Dubai, no, you didn't give that impression, I just know its a tough topic for many, and you never know people's backstories. I did read though some more recent studies on amnio risk show it to be effectively nil, which is reassuring should I need to do it.

I am definitely having nesting feelings, but it mostly involves homesickness and wanting to move back to the UK! But financially makes more sense to wait here until after the baby is born.

Hope you recovered from your booking-in appt Reebok, and got some relaxation. Does watching TV/films help to distract you?
I spoke too soon with my sickness, had two days now of feeling nauseous, struggling to eat, and being totally exhausted. Even lifting up DD makes me feel out of breath. Going to watch a bit of BBC Pride and Prejudice now to cheer myself up Smile

I have a question- does anyone else here on their 2nd pregnancy think they can feel movement yet? I'm certain I can now (just over 13w), but I think I did at 11 weeks too as it was just like this but fainter. With DD it wasn't til 17 or 18 weeks I think. Had a look at threads here and opinion seems divided between those who think they could very early in 2nd pregnancy, and others saying impossible.

Reebok · 11/10/2015 20:15

Hi all, had another horrid day..lots of Vom sessions....migraines from the medication I'm on and not sleeping well.

Thanks infrance...if only! TV can make me extra nauseous...some days all I do it lay down in silence and darkness..gets very boring but not a lot I can do at the moment.

I think I'm feeling flutters. Felt flutters with dd around 14 weeks and proper kicks later...feeling those same flutters again for past few days. I'm either 11 or 12 weeks...got to wait for dating scan to confirm. I refuse to think it's just gas...I can tell the difference. I say if you feel it's flutters it's flutters. No one else can tell what is going on in your body except you! All bodies and pregnancies are different. Enjoy the lovely feelings.

DeccaMitford · 14/10/2015 10:15

Hi all, not much to add other than I am now feeling pretty rough too! Hoping this is the peak and it won't last too long. Still not been sick much but retched a bit and just feel bleurgh. It's so hard keeping it under wraps, I'm feeling a bit lonely, on top of tired, nauseous and guilty for not playing with my son much. Hey ho!

lostindubai · 15/10/2015 07:32

Hi all. I'm still suffering too Sad thought I was improving but no. Evenings I just sit on the sofa while everything happens around me. The only thing that makes me feel better is after ds goes to bed I break out the Ben and Jerry's, then go to bed myself. Daytimes aren't so bad but still get nausea, even at work now which hadn't really been an issue before. I'm 15 weeks today, it's really hanging on this time. We've got friends over for dinner on Saturday and I'm a bit nervous tbh.

Thought I felt some flutterings over the last few days actually! It's definitely earlier than last time, by a few weeks.

InFrance it's good to know that latest research about amnios, very reassuring (but let's hope it doesn't come to that for you Smile)

Reebok, I sympathise with the migraines. Those on top of hg must be incredibly debilitating. Hope you're getting all the rest you need.

Decca hang in there hun! We're all with you. Hope it's short-lived and you feel better soon. The mummy guilt is something I'm also having to deal with, just something else to make us feel even worse eh!

OP posts:
DeccaMitford · 15/10/2015 08:14

Suddenly got a lot worse yesterday evening, I was sick twice out of the blue then couldn't move from the sofa at all. Was sick first thing this morning but keeping it together so far since. The guilt about not doing much with my son is now turning into sheer panic at the thought of being able to look after him properly at all. Must keep calm and take things slowly because panic is obviously not going to help!

InFrance2014 · 15/10/2015 09:42

Hello all, some more good news here, test came back low risk. I know many things might still go wrong, but I felt so full of happiness to find out, and like now I can relax and start really loving this baby.

Sorry that the physical conditions are still so horrible for many of us. The nausea comes and goes for me luckily, but still very annoying.
I'm now wondering if I might be anaemic, as am frequently massively out of breath and pounding heart, like I've been cycling hard, but it's just from standing up or picking up DD/the cat (although the latter IS fat!). Got to have monthly blood tests (toxoplasmosis obsession in France), so they will check for iron levels at next one. I hope it is that, really don't want to imagine this just being a pregnancy symptom that will get worse!

I've also booked myself on a work trip to Canada... for February when I'm 7 months! Am a bit nervous of what state I'll be in then, but very luckily have been able to swing business class, so moving about for exercises will be easy. Might still have to have anti-coagulant injections before and after flight though, as there is slight DVT history in my family.

Just counting the days now til next scan and trying to focus on all the amazing things the baby must be doing inside me Smile. Wishing everyone a vom/sickness-free hour or even day!

darkpandora · 16/10/2015 19:26

Hey everyone haven't posted in a While as like many of you have felt sick as a dog. I haven't thrown up in quite a while but I have on and off nausea all day! It's a pain.

How's everyone else getting on? Hope some of you are coming out of the worst of it. Sorry to those who seem to be having the dreaded sickness return.

Im 11 weeks now and have my first scan on Monday! I have been so worried about it I've had nightmares! I have to confess yesterday I took another pregnancy test to check I was still pregnant Hmm I of course was and it came up instantly but in a weird way it's made me a little more confident that all is fine.

I can't wait to be able to tell everyone the truth I hate lying to people but I need to know everything is ok first.

I wish everyone better and hope that all of you come through the worst of it soon and can start enjoying being pregnant Smile Flowers

applecatchers36 · 17/10/2015 14:01

Hi all,

Good to hear sickness is subsiding for some. Can't wait until we are all out of the woods with morning sickness and have some energy back! Generally feeling a bit better with some occasional dodgy moments e.g. Being on the tube, not a good combo with nausea...

Great news Infrance , my test also came back low risk too..it's such a relief and am now telling people more widely which makes it more real. Know what you mean about having to keep quiet Dark in first trimester.

Don't think have felt any movements, with DD it was later in the pregnancy. Think am 14 weeks now, we have now booked our NCT classes, will be march, but advised to book early, think they are refresher classes for second time parents.

A friend had a baby a couple of days ago & has posted newborn photos on Facebook which makes me swoon Smile

darkpandora · 19/10/2015 17:05

Hey everyone how's everyone doing?

I had my scan today and it was amazing baby didn't stop moving and jumped a few times when the sonographer pressed on my stomach lol Heartbeat was really strong as well. I'm soo excited now and really excited to let everyone know. Grin

lostindubai · 19/10/2015 20:21

Ahh that's brilliant Pandora Smile so exciting!

I'm getting a bit fed up now really. Thought I was improving last week but was sick again last night and have felt nauseous all day today. Had friends over for dinner at the weekend but they left early as I was so tired (thankfully they are lovely and understood). Still waiting to feel some movements, not sure if I imagined or dreamt the ones I thought I felt! Got my 16 week mw appt on Thursday, hopefully hear the heartbeat! We'll take ds along and see if it help him comprehend what's happening (I'm guessing probably not!)

Great news on your results InFrance and Apple. Hope everyone is feeling as ok as is possible x

DeccaMitford · 20/10/2015 11:43

Hi everyone,

I've had a rough few days but a bit better now, even managed to cook and eat a proper dinner last night, amazing! I expect it'll ebb and flow but glad to be on an ebb at the moment Grin

I've got my booking in appointment tomorrow, my first real milestone since the BFP I guess, hurrah!

So excited for those of you having scans etc, what a relief to get to that stage and finally meet the cause of all the aggro, bless them!
