Joining from the relaxed TTC-ers. Hoping to see everyone here soon Grin

My stats:
Age 36
DS 29 months old, still bf once a day at bedtime.
Currently 7 weeks pregnant.
History: had a mc at 9 weeks prior to DS - also had bleeding while pg with him but all was well.

Been feeling constantly ill for a week now! Last time I ate to feel better but it doesn't make any difference this time. Only actually been sick twice though. Had to fess up to the parents/PILs already as so off colour. Started taking spatone sachets today to try and increase my energy levels. Looking forward to speaking with a midwife to see what else I can do, if anything.

Just rang the community midwives and left a message as they wrote to me 18th August saying they'd be in touch 'shortly'.

I also haven't had my maternity exemption card yet, which I think comes from the gp so I'll have to ring them on Monday too. Feel like I've been forgotten Sad

My constipation has turned into the opposite as the morning has progressed. I definitely wasn't this ill last pregnancy. Ugh.

Still suffering here too... I managed to eat a bit more today, but got home from conference and found have lost about 2/3 of a stone! Seems ridiculous from just a week, but I've struggled to eat food, and then with the (TMI) diarrhoea too, I guess I've lost lots of water. Got stomach cramps now, trying not to be paranoid as they started with the bug, but they are very painful and I can't help worrying. Only lying down seems to help. So glad to be home!

lostindubai · 13/09/2015 22:27

Are you feeling any better today InFrance?

I finally heard from the midwife today. Booking in appt is this weds. I told her I've been having awful digestive problems (including diarrhoea all morning this morning) and she did say there are a lot of bugs around but that if I can keep fluids down then not to worry. Haven't been sick for a few days. Still had nausea though, and general stomach pains. Have been able to take my mind off it a bit tonight though with a bit of tv.

Thoughts to everyone on here who is suffering. Remember how cheerful we all were on the ttc thread!

Hope you're all feeling a bit better. I was up most of the night with stomach ache and diarrhoea. I'm not sure how productive I'll be at work today, think I'll mostly be focusing on staying upright!

Lostindubai, the excitement of the ttc thread feels like ages ago now! Hopefully we'll all feel fine again in a few weeks and get back to being excited :)

InFrance2014 · 14/09/2015 13:42

Well I can bring some positivity and excitement- feeling a lot better today, the gastro bug seems to be on the way out, although still feeling weak, sick and very tired.

But more importantly, we had our early scan! I wasn't sure what to expect, but it was lovely. As it was early it was a transvaginal job, but you could see as much as a normal one. And it cheered me up so much to see a real tiny little baby in there Grin
Looking definitely more human than shrimp now, could see the big head and little hands and feet bits. All was ok and size fine for estimated dates (9w, 2-4d). It didn't move, but we heard the heart beat and it was lovely and strong-sounding.
Now I'm clinging to that statistic that says if you have a good heartbeat at 8-9 weeks, you're 95% likely to bring the baby home with you Smile

Sending positive vibes to everyone waiting for their first appointment and scans, and dealing with the dreaded sickness Flowers

darkpandora · 14/09/2015 15:33

Hey everyone Smile

Dubai I hope you are feeling a bit better now. I know TTC board seems so far away now but once we are passed the early stages I'm sure we will all be super excited again going through our pregnancies together Smile

infrance so glad you are feeling better and how amazing hearing baby's heartbeat!! Glad it went so well for you how exciting! Grin

I'm still trying to make it through the next 5 weeks 19th October seems so far away! My best friend has agreed to do something with me like go for a meal or watch a film or something at the end of each week so I don't go crazy.

Sending Flowers to all you wonderful expectant mummies and to all who are struggling I hope things ease for you soon

lostindubai · 17/09/2015 10:16

Hi all.

InFrance that's amazing I'm so happy for you! I had a scan at 9 weeks with ds as I had some bleeding, and it was so lovely to see the little bean. I just got the pics out to look at and I admit I'm blubbing like a good'un. Why did you have an early scan? Were you worried about the bug you had?

Has anyone had their booking in appointment yet? My mw had to cancel mine due to illness. They've rescheduled for Saturday but I'm already 10.5 weeks. I know they take your history and everything but do they check your blood pressure, urine etc? I can't remember. I'm worried as I've had no real contact at all yet. My scan is still two weeks away. I'm sure I'm worried for nothing but it all seemed so much quicker last time around.

I'm still feeling ill, hoping that's a good sign. Still got terrible digestion too. Awful wind, bloating and alternating constipation and diarrhoea. I'm eating like a horse and my stomach is getting a lot rounder which is making this harder to hide. Sigh.

How is everyone else? X

Hello ladies, remember me? Can I join you?! Grin

lostindubai · 20/09/2015 08:26

Hi Decca! Of course you can, congratulations to you darl! How far along are you? How do you feel?

This thread is a little quiet but maybe it's because we've all been suffering in our own ways. Is the ttc one still going? I think I've fallen off the end of that one - must pop back in and see some time.

I still haven't seen a midwife. I'm 11 weeks now! I had a call yesterday morning to make an appt, while we were waiting in for her to turn up! Miscommunication which didn't help my stress levels as we're busy looking for a new house and I'd kept that time free. Anyway she's coming at 9 this morning so I'd better get ready.

Hope everyone's doing ok.

OP posts:
DeccaMitford · 20/09/2015 10:46

Oh dear dubai stress is the last thing you need.

Just tested this morning, so that would make me 5 weeks. I thought I hadn't ov'd this month so very pleasantly surprised!

TTC has also gone very quiet and I missed you guys so very pleased to be able to join you at last. Just fingers crossed that all goes well for us all now!

Bluepigoon · 20/09/2015 16:59

Congratulations Decca! How's everyone feeling now?

I'm 8 weeks tomorrow and aside from a couple of days of nausea early last week I don't feel pregnant at all. I'm worried that it might be a mmc, as I'm sure I should be feeling something by now. I've got my booking in appointment with the midwife tomorrow so I'll see what she says. I've also booked a private scan for a week tomorrow as I decided I'd rather put my mind at rest one way or another.

I hope everyone's not been feeling too rough and had a good weekend.

lostindubai · 20/09/2015 22:48

Ah Blue, you might just be lucky and dodge most of the sickness. An early scan is a great idea though. Wish I'd had the presence of mind to think of that myself actually! I'm counting down the days until 1st October.

Decca what a lovely surprise for you then. So pleased for you! I hope you don't suffer too badly when the nausea kicks in. I'm still feeling crap and eating still isn't helping much. For some reason evenings are worse. I have no energy and just want to lay on the sofa. Putting ds to bed each night is a real chore at the moment. I'm only up this late because of Downton! I've been getting early nights mostly which I think really helps.

Booking in appt went well this morning. Glad to have had all the initial tests done now.

DeccaMitford · 21/09/2015 10:50

When did you guys contact your GP to let them know? Did you see anyone before the booking in appointment? I can't remember what I did last time round!

Reebok · 21/09/2015 15:18

Hi all, sorry I've been awol! Been really unwell. Signed off work sick with hyperemesis. On a very strong cancer drug to help control the vomiting and enable me to keep a little down. Feel like utter crap! Had an early scan today as I've had some brown spotting. Bean is alive and well! Bouncing around and good heartbeat. I've joined a study for women who have mc which entitles me to extra support and scans so will have another at roughly 10 weeks before dating scan. Still no contact with midwife or anyone else!

Sorry to hear so many of you are unwell! Early pregnancy sucks but fx we shall all feel better soon.

Infrance congrats on the early scan.

Dubai glad to hear the booking in is sorted!

Blue pigeon don't worry about sickness. It doesn't guarantee anything. I had hyperemesis with my first pregnancy but still mc. You are probably just one of the lucky ones! Enjoy it!

Decca! Congrats!! Really great news.

Reebok · 21/09/2015 15:19

Re contacting gp, I waited until I got to 6 weeks as I was scared after my last mc. It's fine to go now and get yourself booked in but unlikely you will hear from midwives until later.

Bluepigoon · 22/09/2015 08:33

Sorry to hear you've been so I'll Reebok, but that's great news about your scan. Yes, I should probably relax and enjoy the lack of sickness, but I'll feel a lot better after I have my scan next Monday!

Decca, I contacted my gp surgery at 6 weeks and had my appointment yesterday when I was exactly 8 weeks. She didn't seem at all concerned about my lack of symptoms, so that was reassuring. I don't think you need to see anyone before this appointment unless you've had any problems - it's mostly just paperwork anyway.

DeccaMitford · 22/09/2015 11:46

Thanks guys! I'll leave it a week then.

I had lots of pinching and stretching feelings yesterday but not feeling sick yet, thankfully. Last time MS kicked in about 6.5 weeks and I had it fairly bad for most of the pregnancy, it's the biggest thing I was dreading before TTC this time. Hope you are all coming out of the worst of it now x

darkpandora · 22/09/2015 16:18

Yay finally able to get back on Smile

Hey everyone I see we have somebody else who has got there bfp congrats Decca Flowers

Blue don't worry bout lack of symptoms I was the same now I'm 8 weeks and sick at 4am most days and feel nauseous all the time enjoy you might be one of the lucky ones Smile

Dubai glad you finally got your booking in appointment 11weeks! Only a few more weeks of first trimester left how exciting

Reebok how are you my lovely are the tablets helping?

Can I ask what's a booking in appointment? I went to the docs a few weeks back and he confirmed I was pregnant. Then a few weeks later I got a letter telling me I will see a midwife for blood tests, medical history and my first scan on the 19th October. Am I meant to see someone before then?

Bluepigoon · 22/09/2015 16:44

Pandora, the booking in is the one with the midwife, where they take blood and urine samples and ask you a million questions about your medical history. At my surgery they do it at about 8 weeks but it sounds like yours just combines it with the first scan, it must be done differently in different areas.

darkpandora · 22/09/2015 17:06

Ah ok thank you blue I was confused geez that's a long time to wait to see a midwife ah well. How are you doing today?

Bluepigoon · 22/09/2015 19:52

I'm okay thanks Pandora, except I'm coming down with a cold so feeling a bit groggy! It does seem a long time to wait to see a midwife, sounds like you've got a helpful friend to distract you through the wait though :)

DeccaMitford · 23/09/2015 09:29

I've got the lurgee too so am going back to bed to try and sleep it off. If that's one thing having 24/7 responsibility for a toddler has taught me its that if I can somehow manage to get some sleep I usually get better quickly, but if I can't it will drag on for weeks. Thank goodness for preschool now he's old enough to give me a break!

DeccaMitford · 23/09/2015 09:30

Thanks for all the congrats by the way!

lostindubai · 23/09/2015 10:11

Pandora have you got a number for the midwives? You could always ask if you can see them sooner. They usually give you lots of information about healthy eating in pregnancy, screening etc which could be useful to have sooner. I also find the blood and urine tests reassuring. My lot said they like to do the booking in before the scan but like Blue said, all areas must do it differently. I think you can ask though, if you feel inclined to.

Blue and Decca, hope the germs aren't too bad and you get well quickly.

Reebok sorry to hear you've been so poorly but I am pleased you've had the reassurance of a scan! How lovely. Must have made it all seem worthwhile I imagine.

I still feel rubbish but thankfully dp is just getting on with things like cooking, washing up, changing ds' nappy etc without grumbling now. I do feel like a crap mum at the moment. Ds is so sweet, he'll give me sympathy and a kiss on the tummy when I complain it's sore, but then I can't interact with him properly like I used to which makes me feel terrible.

Hello everyone, sorry for being quiet, I'm currently away on a training course.

Congrats Decca, so nice to see someone else graduated!

I agree Bluepigoon, don't take the symptoms as significant. I had virtually no symptoms with what ended up as a mc in July, but my pregnancy with DD was the same, no real sickness I remember, and all was well. This time is very different though! If you can get an early scan that would be reassuring.

Reebok really happy for you that the scan was positive. And how exciting to see it moving about!!

Dubai it must be very frustrating to have to wait like this for the 'booking in' thing. Having not done it in UK, it seems a bit weird they make you wait for so long.

Here if you think you're pregnant, you go and get checked by a gynae and that's it. Still got to wait usually til 12 weeks for the first scan (I had an early one too as I was anxious to see it following the mc), and after that, all your health costs are covered by the state (before that any appointments are paid for by your top-up insurance).

I've recovered from the horrible gastro illness now, but still got annoying nausea, not serious, but I usually can't finish meals, and the train journey here made it worse too. Got another 7 hours on trains on way home tomorrow, but looking forward to being back. It's certainly been very welcoming having some early nights and undisturbed sleep!

I am enjoying looking at some early pregnancy development stuff, I found a very detailed website, it works on a timescale minus 2 weeks as it counts from conception not last period (i.e. if you're 8 weeks pregnant, look at the 6 weeks section) www.ehd.org/dev_article_intro.php
