calypso my BF texted back and forwards with me before her c-section then nothing for 48hrs, I was really worried. She was just in pain and besotted with her new baby and had no interest in responding to worried texts.

I got quite cross with DH last night, I asked him how he felt when he had 1st felt his son kick. He said it was okay, when I pushed he said it was weird and then finally he admitted he felt nothing Shock. He then said he isn't the least bit attached to the baby and feels nothing for it and he won't until it is here. He said I can't expect him to feel the same way as I do when I can feel him inside me growing. He also said that he loved watching me so happy and in love with the baby. I didn't expect him to feel as in love with the baby as me but at least 50%. I wonder if most men feel the same way?

For anyone buying a full price new pram, Harrods have a 10% off nearly everything this weekend and they price match all buggies! All you have to do is register for their free rewards card, which you can do on the day. Can also order online. I know it sounds weird that Harrods is cheaper then all other stores but it is on their discount days.

RattyCatty · 01/10/2015 13:54

jelly I only real feel movements when I'm lying in bed at night and some days def busier than others. Is it from 24 weeks you're supposed to count? Should they be more active throughout the day?

clara I know - it's an unfortunate association!

CalypsoLilt · 01/10/2015 14:08

haquoi and rufus she just text to give as much birth story as poss.... she got to 10cm in a birthing pool on gas an air, then didn't have pushing contractions (???????) so she had a spinal for forceps which didn't work then full blown emergency c-section; hopefully will leave hosp tomorrow :)

TillITookAnArrowToTheKnee · 01/10/2015 14:17

DDs are starting to get cross that they can't feel the baby moving Grin But I think in the next week or so they may be able to. Kicks are too sporadic, H has to press down slightly and wait about 5-10 mins between kicks, and in between the baby just rolls around which makes me feel like a tumble dryer! Placenta is also at the front so that has an impact too. Mostly around 3am, 7am and 2pm and 9pm. Ish.

Mawsymoo · 01/10/2015 14:22

Congrats on all the good scans here!

Moan alert - I'm bloody tired! I'm leaving the house at 6am every morning for work and then up at night with DS. My bump is huge already and as a result my sciatica has flared up much earlier than last time. I'm so uncomfortable sitting in a chair all day. Anyway, I've booked a couple of days leave later in the month which will mean I have a few 4-day weeks in a row so that will be nice. I'm going to try to do that again in November. I had been saving leave in case we were moving house but that's a whole other rant!

Sorry - I really have nothing to moan about as I'm lucky to be having a relatively straightforward pregnancy but I think the constant pain in work all day is starting to gnaw away at me.

TillITookAnArrowToTheKnee · 01/10/2015 14:42

maws Constant pain is definitely worthy of a good moan. Can anything be done about the chair? Maybe a different one/a cushion/something/anything?

Mawsymoo · 01/10/2015 14:57

I already have a special chair as a result of a previous injury - it's designed for my back. It's just being in the sitting position all day - even though I get up and walk around regularly as soon as I sit down the pain returns. I've been walking at lunchtime everyday this week which helps a little so I'll try to keep that up from now on too. I'm also starting yoga in a couple of weeks.

MamaBerg · 01/10/2015 16:14

Hi everyone.

I went to aquanatal today for the first time and it was great! Met some other mummys which is good as I only moved to this area a few months ago. But really it was a great sense of relief to get moving. Since I got pregnant work has chained me to my desk and I only get up to go to the loo when I used to be on my feet a lot of the day. It was great to feel mobile again and has stretched out all my achey bits! Definitely recommend to everyone Smile

CalypsoLilt · 01/10/2015 16:52

Cannot wait to do all that aquanatal stuff! Hopefully it's not too pricey.

Pram question my amazing friend is giving me a Britax B-Agile 3 (I'm very very grateful). I'm going to buy a new car seat for it (£100) and a second hand isofix base (£25)..... question, do I need a carry cot as well?

Mawsymoo · 01/10/2015 17:48

It depends on how much walking you think you'll do. I was out walking morning noon and night so it was good to have somewhere flat for the baby. I also used it during the day for naps.

DS was a long baby so grew out of it at 4.5 months so if you don't think you'll do a lot of walking in the first few months it might be a waste.

MamaBerg · 01/10/2015 18:00

Hi Calypso, I would check out your local leisure centres now. There was a girl there today who was only 8 weeks and another at 38 weeks so its open for all. Mine is £4.50 per hour long session.

haquoi123 · 01/10/2015 18:01

rufus, DH had the same thing with ds and we have both struggled massively to come to terms with it. I was told with no uncertainty by bereavement counsellors that most men feel similar and I should accept it (obv said in a nicer way). With this one DH has made a considerable effort to bond with the baby, especially as we didn't know what had happened with ds and it has made a big difference for him. But it's definitely normal though, if infuriating!

haquoi123 · 01/10/2015 18:02

I've got no aquanatal at my leisure centre :( the only pregnant women I've met have been at my hypnobirthing group 40 min drive away! So jealous!

MamaBerg · 01/10/2015 18:35

Do you have any others local haquoi? Out of the 9 centres run by my council there is only 1 session per week at 1 centre. Had to blag Thursdays working from home off work to go!

haquoi123 · 01/10/2015 18:46

There might be one in Carlisle but that's also 30 mins away - I could check Keswick though, it's got a bigger pool... Thanks mama :)

haquoi123 · 01/10/2015 20:22

Huh, I was wrong, no aquanatal in Carlisle or Keswick either. There just aren't enough pregnant people around here! Funny as there's nowt else to do and children a plenty...

NorthernChinchilla · 01/10/2015 20:37

Glad you've got the medication sorted smashley, but how rotten that the sickness came back; you must have thought you were well clear of it!

Definitely variations on the movement front jelly, though I'm only 19 and a half weeks. I have to remind myself that although I've been feeling the baby for a while, that last time round I'd only been getting movement for a week and a half and it's still really early, so I really shouldn't stress that I'm not getting more.

Good to hear your friend cheered you up maisie Smile

Snap on the sciatica mawsy, crap isn't it? I know I'm relatively lucky as I just get random stabs of it, but it makes me yell out in pain with no warning, which is utterly alarming for friends and colleagues Confused. I've let people know as much as possible, but understandably they're still a bit taken aback...

I'm from that neck of the woods haquoi, and I'm really surprised even Carlisle didn't have aquanatal. I would have thought it was a pretty standard thing to have even somewhere smaller. How annoying...can you go any further afield?

I'm delighted as my get up at 5am, do loads of travelling, interview for hours, spend ages getting home Monday has been re-arranged. That was going to be a killer day and it's such a treat not to have to- woo!

Rufus200 · 01/10/2015 20:49

Quite cross with myself, done something stupid! I really wanted a bugaboo cameleon but didn't want to pay full price so went on eBay. Found a new one low priced from someone with good feedback who had sold several, that is when warning bells should have rung! I bid but got outbid so thought that is that. Got a message tonight did I want a new buggy for £600 including postage.
I was like hell yeah and paid through PayPal. After paying it then entered my head that is very cheap for a real bugaboo do fakes exist, then found there is a huge counterfeit market out there. DH is really cross with me that I may have bought a dangerous unusable pram but then I've been reading that the latest counterfeits bugaboo can't even tell them apart! Not sure what to do Hmm

TillITookAnArrowToTheKnee · 01/10/2015 21:41

rufus I'm sure if you call Bugaboo and reel off the serial number they'll be able to tell you if its one of theirs or not? Their customer service is quite amazing! If its a fake, PayPal will refund no problem.

Rufus200 · 01/10/2015 21:59

I've managed to cancel and get a refund. The guy argued for a bit saying he would never sell anything that would harm a baby and that I would be really impressed when the buggy arrived but at no point did he say it was real, so it obviously was a fake, I just kept on asking for a refund and raised a dispute on PayPal at which point I think he thought I was too much trouble and refunded me. Lesson learnt!!! It is just scary that there are fakes out there but also that 2nd hand stuff could be a fake as well! Love that DH got cross with me for buying a fake buggy and possibly endangering our unborn child but couldn't of cared less that he had felt our son kick, men are fickle creatures!!!

jellypi3 · 01/10/2015 22:12

Good news on the refund rufus! Men are odd! We've just bought our pram and isofix base for the car, spend so much money on those 2 things!

Phew Rufus lucky escape!!!!

Second scan yesterday afternoon went fine. They couldn't check the cerebellum (Sp?) but said that everything else was grand (in particular the spine) and that they need to draw a line somewhere.

I thought at one point I could see a flash of boy bits, but it could equally have been its hand! So we're still team yellow!

Troika · 02/10/2015 09:11

Rufus I often do silly things like that. Glad you got a refund.

Also on the subject of movements, dp hasn't felt any yet but dd did last night. I asked dp if he was a bit jealous and he said no he didn't really care as long as the baby was moving and was OK. I thought he'd be excited about feeling movements but no, he's not that bothered until she gets here!

Rufus200 · 02/10/2015 09:18

Can anyone recommend good books on what to do with your baby when it actually gets here? I'm completely in the dark with how you look after a baby!

jellypi3 · 02/10/2015 09:28

rifus my general understanding is that you learn most of that through ante natal classes but mostly you just kind of learn on the job. I guess baby's aren't predictable and haven't read the book lol
