Welcome, welcome, welcome to the 37th grads thread... celebrating the success of Just Shagging in getting us viroids upduffed!

For those that don't know, a 'viroid' is from the original JSing thread 1, where someone was trying to type ladies (in reference to all the JSing ladies), but their phone decided to call us all viroids instead!

The name stuck and we've been the JSing viroids ever since.

The 36th grads fred is here

The thread we have graduated from is here in its 52nd outing. WARNING: they're all a bit kerazy not to mention randy!

There is also a Just Mumming thread here for once your babies come along, or to keep up with the graduated graduates!

There is also a private facebook group (so it doesn't give the game away in your news feed!)... if you want to join to see photos of new babies etc, just ask in-thread!

Here is the stats list, please update your own spot with any updates.

I'm not going to do NCT as I can't really afford it and am not interested in making "mummy friends". I will look in to the NHS ones, how I book them in my trust etc.

Pud I start Daisy in mid Sept. Smile

whats daisy and should i do it? im mainly doing nct because we're moving to a totally new area and i think it'll help to meet new people :)

oneyorkshirepud · 25/08/2015 20:32

Haven't started yet so don't know loads of info, but takes aspects of hypnobirthing, yoga and active labour. Google the Daisy Birthing Foundation. I will let you know how I get on too. It is also loads cheaper then hypnobirthing courses, and includes movement which I quite like.

honeysucklejasmine · 25/08/2015 20:46

It's where "rotate to dilate" comes from. All about getting through labour.

I think you're absolutely right to go to NCT if you've moved house.

Hurray for engaged babies Deeply and Ga. Deeply you might still beat me then GrinGrin

I didn't do NCT, I missed the boat. I tried to book about 24 weeks and no availability. I did mummynatal for relaxation/info/meeting people. We did the NHS all day session which told us lots.
It depends what your priority is.
NCT is a lot of money. Mummynatal was £45 for 6 weeks and I've made a friend so far Smile

I think that it will be very isolating if you don't have peers, and I don't want to be stuck in the house with a baby day in day out. I plan to take Purplebaby to baby massage and probably baby sensory, maybe swimming. There are baby groups locally so that could be the way to meet people as well. I'll try them all and see what I like

pretzelpieces · 25/08/2015 20:59

I'm doing NCT but got it very cheap cause I'm on benefits (was only £26 instead of about 10 times that). Want to make parenty friends too. Sort of wish I was doing daisy birthing.

mountaingirl01 · 25/08/2015 21:02

Thanks for the love viroids.
carrot I was measuring small at 28 weeks so sent for growth scan, baba was over 98th centile so went for another 3w later and was 90th. Because down to 90th they are not doing anything. Fundal Measurements since show baba probably 90th and mws keeo doing their feeley thing and agreeing baby feels big, which they are not worrying about. I was on border with get test so have given up all nice things, although have always eaten well anyway and have exercised as much as possible whole way through..

Like purple I plan on doing things with baby rather than prenatally- no local nct and couldn't book on nhs. Mws haven't really told me anything at all.. bit down on my mws today! They also seemed to put my spd/back pain down to work (which I know probabyl isn't helping but still) like it was my own silly fault Hmm

CarrotPuff · 25/08/2015 21:04

If you are planning to bf look up bfing support groups too - they are invaluable if you are having issues and need help, and you will meet fellow mums too.

MollyBloomYes · 25/08/2015 21:10

I start daisy next week! I like that they're supportive of all types of birth as long as it's right for you. Nct were a bit militant about all-natural I found. Also like that daisy have a big emphasis on creating a social group, we've recently moved and it's been bloody hard to crack into established groups at children's centres etc!

Educating Cardiff, whoop whoop!

CarrotPuff · 25/08/2015 21:10

mountain those measurements including the growth scan are inaccurate at best. Worrying will not change the size of the baby. You will be alright.

Maybe plan something nice for when you finish work, even if it's a pyjama day, a long lie in or pancakes for breakfast. This way you will have something to look forward to and those 2 days will fly by. Chin up Flowers

pretzelpieces · 25/08/2015 21:15

PS I'm on disability benefits but nct do discounts for several kinds of benefit I believe. In case that helps anyone else.

purplewhale · 25/08/2015 21:33

Thanks carrot that's just reminded me to find out when the BF classes are Smile

I got given syringes today and shown how to manually express. I'm not trying it til a week before the section as it can trigger labour and I'm not ready yet also don't want a late August baby if possible
The main reason we need it is after birth baby's blood sugar can plummet so he might hypo, in which case having some colostrum will stop him needing formula as he needs feeding urgently and my milk might not have come in

ZylaB · 25/08/2015 21:56

purple it's a good idea to try expressing but don't stress too much if you can't get anything, some people don't get colostrum released until baby is here. I tried and had to stop as it made me feel all weird, though I was only 35 weeks at the time and we were trying to put off having H for as long as possible!

purplewhale · 25/08/2015 22:16

Thanks Zyla, hoping it will work but it's not the end of the world if it doesn't. I think that sometimes the medical profession treat formula like its poison!

oneyorkshirepud · 26/08/2015 08:00

Ooh no 3am club? Hope that means you all got lots of sleep!

gaggiagirl · 26/08/2015 08:31

We did. Were having another sit in waiting for the gas man today. Hurray.

jellypi3 · 26/08/2015 08:46

honeysucklejasmine · 26/08/2015 09:18

Oooooh Whatcha buying Thurs? (Helpful).

Yip, that's how to do it Honey Grin

batfish · 26/08/2015 09:31

Wow baby 4/5 engaged ga! What does that actually mean then? It sounds impressive even though I don't know. I don't think they tell us about that here! I know baby is head down and has been for ages but don't know if that means anything. I don't think I'm ready for news on how ready the baby is anyway, I'm still in denial!!

ThursdayLastWeek · 26/08/2015 09:31

So many maternity clothes!!!!!

purplewhale · 26/08/2015 10:02

Morning viroids

Just woke up Smile had loo trips at 4 and 7 but that's all Smile

Jcandy · 26/08/2015 10:06

Set yourself a budget Thurs. ...and then enjoy!

I slept well too but then I do when I don't have to work the next day!

Just some advice if anyone can help. I've been struggling with my shifts on the ward recently. The 13 hour days are killers but if I shorten then to 8 hour days I only get one rest day off at a time so I'm tired as I don't have chance to recover. Had a meeting with HR yesterday and they've said all they can do is reduce my hours. The thing is I can't really afford a one third pay cut at the moment. We are saving everything we can to get us through maternity leave and having around £300 taken off us each month would really affect that. Can I say no? What can they do if I refuse?
