Celen · 01/09/2015 16:11

Thanks girls for all your kind words.

Good luck tomorrow Ginger, hope you gets some clarity x

Gingerlady123 · 01/09/2015 16:28

Thanks celen.
I hope your as ok as possible. Xx

MyNameIsSuz · 01/09/2015 17:00

Oh celen I'm so sorry, what a horrible shock. Look after yourself Flowers

treehousethunderstorm · 01/09/2015 17:28

I feel bad writing this after Celens bad news but our scan today went fine. The only thing they couldn't do was the nt as although baby was bouncing around to begin with they then refused to budge to get a measurement. I was bouncing hips, jumping up and down and went to empty my bladder but baby was stubborn.

Feeling a bit sore now after all the prodding

MyNameIsSuz · 01/09/2015 17:48

Great news treehouse! Are they going to do any other test since they couldn't get the nuchal fold?

BeautifulLiar · 01/09/2015 18:18

Congratulations treehouse xx

Celen · 01/09/2015 18:21

Don't feel bad treehouse, as soon as I've had time to process & grieve, I'll be getting back on the horse & hopefully on another pregnancy bus again soon. Good luck all Flowers

maybebabybee · 01/09/2015 18:25

celen I'm sure you have lots of support already, but can really recommend the MC boards on MN if you need to vent, they're very supportive. Really helped me a lot after my own MC.

Gingerlady123 · 01/09/2015 18:26

Congrats treehouse.
When she took my nt baby was under refusal to move lol. Was napping and all of a sudden jolted awake and moved its arms all over the place.

MotherKat · 01/09/2015 19:13

Hi,
I'm due March 26th and I'm sicker than sick at the minute, can only hold down water with lemon and mint as they are the only smells I can tolerate. Midwife on the 3rd, scan on the 14th and I've already put on inches around my middle, this is my second but DD is 15 and I was only a baby myself back then so i'm a bit clueless. All advice welcome.

marmitemofo · 01/09/2015 19:32

So sorry for your loss celen Flowers. Hope you're holding up ok.

good luck for tomorrow ginger

congrats on your successful scan treehouse

welcome Kat, sorry to hear you're so sick. Have you been to the doctors about it? If you're being that sick they might be able to give you anti sickness meds, I think someone on this thread did (dobby maybe?) and found it helped.

BeautifulLiar yes I also find it a relief to know others also feeling sick and not just me! though on the other hand I wouldn't want to wish this crap on anyone.... 13 weeks today and it's been awful. About to get into bed and read a book and hope it takes my mind off it!

AdorabeezleWinterpop · 01/09/2015 19:37

So sorry, Celen Flowers

BeautifulLiar · 01/09/2015 20:09

Also retiring with a book soon! So nervous about my scan tomorrow.

Welcome MotherKat

Gingerlady123 · 01/09/2015 20:23

Good luck tomorrow for your scan :)

lilmissiehopeful · 01/09/2015 20:39

I'm so sorry celen. Sending you lots of hugs. Hope you're getting good support in rl x

Missikat · 01/09/2015 20:48

Celen, I'm so sorry to hear your sad news. Was really keeping everything crossed that baby was ok. Thinking of you and sending you big hugs xxx

Ginger, good luck for tomorrow. I hope this time things are done in a better way for you and you get some more answers, or at least an idea of your actual risk rating. I would definitely not take no for an answer with being referred over ASAP if you need to be. Thinking of you.

Welcome Motherkat, you sound like you should be my mother (name wise, lol!)

I'm also feeling so exhausted, more so than at any point so far, thought I should be getting the 2nd tri energy buzz now but it's not appearing yet!

Missikat · 01/09/2015 20:49

And huge congrats Tree!

Missdee2014 · 01/09/2015 20:58

So sorry Celen ????

BeautifulLiar, I'm really nervous for tomorrow too! Am I the only person on here not option for the screening? I don't see the point in giving ourselves unnecessary additional worry!

Me624 · 01/09/2015 21:12

Good luck for the scans tomorrow Beautiful and Missdee. It's a personal choice for everyone and I don't know for sure but personally I don't think I could cope with a baby with Down's syndrome so we opted for the screening. Even if you wouldn't terminate, knowing in advance gives you the chance to prepare. But everyone's different and if you're happy with not knowing then that's great!

marmitemofo · 01/09/2015 21:32

Yes I totally agree me its a personal choice. DPs brother and SIL (due in 4 weks) didn't have screening as said it would make no difference and I think that definitely makes sense. My mw said to me basically that - and suggested if it won't make a difference then we should consider not being screened. But despite that, for us personally, me and DP like having all the information we can, we'd rather know our risk and be able to plan/prepare/read up so that we'd know what to do or prepare, even if only psychologically.

ginger I really hope its good news for you. Do you know how long before you'll get the bloods back? With my NHS scan last week I had my bloods taken Tuesday and got my letter on Saturday so I imagine a private scan would be as quick if not quicker.

dobbythedoggy · 01/09/2015 21:37

Kat I was given sickness meds at 7 weeks. I could keep down enough fluids providing it was ice or sparkling water with lime but was constantly sick and really couldn't face food, hadn't managed to keep down food for five or six days so felt misserable. GP prescribed me phenogen (sp) tablets which are usually used to treat hayfever or travel sickness and some times as a mild sedative. The first week or so I had them I was knocked out quickly after taking them, taken at bed time unless really desprate in the morning. Wasn't a cure all but stopped constant sickness and let me eat and the feeling of feeling sick wasn't constantly over powering. I'm 14 weeks tomorrow and stopped taking them last week, have a bit of sickness in the morning and have a sever advesion to pasta, normally a staple in our house, but otherwise fine. If you're struggling with sickness trying meds are well worth it, your midwife may well recomend seeking help if you mention it at your appointment.

missdee If it was me alone I wouldn't have opted for testing. But dh was very keen to know if there could potentially be a problem as he'd need ever moment avaliable to prepare. On the other hand I'd just get on with it without worrying as age wise I'm low risk anyway. But the lowered risk result has put his mind at ease.

celen so sorry for your news.

Missdee2014 · 01/09/2015 21:42

I never took any kind of screening when I had the girls. This is dp's first baby and we've both agreed to not have again. I think I worry enough. A close friend of mine had all the tests and was told her baby was high risk for downs and she was born perfectly healthy so she didn't enjoy her pregnancy and worried the whole way through for absolutely nothing. Defo a personal choice, for me though I can't face putting myself through it. We will deal with the hand that's dealt to us should there be anything to worry about.

IndomitabIe · 01/09/2015 22:11

On the one hand, there are so many things that could go wrong, it seems daft to worry and focus so much one one (or three) particular conditions. In some ways, it's amazing that any humans ever get put together properly when you think about the complexity of it all.

But on the other hand, forewarned is forearmed. We will be having the testing.

DH has a genetic condition which will be tested for after birth. But of all of them, it's not a bad one to have!

I've been worrying off and on about feeling better. I'm 10+4 and still felt terrible at this point last time. Except it's all daft worrying and I'm actually feeling slightly green round the edges still. I start worrying, then realise I actually don't feel "fine", just less bleurgh. Though the feeling better did coincide with running out of multivitamins and taking straight folic acid/vitD/iron instead. Coincidence?

One more day. I haven't done any work yet and I'm delivering INSET on Friday. I can prep Thursday night, right? And plan on Sunday? (I had so many good intentions!)
