Wow, well done! I'm not sure I could cope with being pregnant for an extra 3 weeks. Though I've read about expectant monitoring before, and also about disastrous inductions when the body's just not ready. But I don't think I'd have your determination in that situation.

I hope I don't have to consider those options.

sherazade · 22/08/2015 12:33

Hopefully neither of us will . For me it was the determination not to go through another section again that gave me the will power .

TriJo · 22/08/2015 12:43

My mum went 3 weeks over with my brother too, but that was 28 years ago! I didn't think anyone was let go that far over these days...

It appears that my bladder's running tolerance is down to around 5km. Did a lovely 8km run this morning and had to stop mid-run - that never happens! 9+4 and feeling pretty good today tbh, it's a gorgeous day in London :)

dobbythedoggy · 22/08/2015 13:26

Just picked up some lovely maternity clothes that I got cheeply in the new look sale. Ordered a pair of legings that I'm actually really dissapointed with so going to return, no where near as nice as the ones I got from amazon for a quater of the price. Bumped into one of my friends who has a load of my old maternity clothes, going to get the last week then see what I need to invest in for a winter pregnancy.

Boobs are going crazy! Got measured last week, got a bra that was slightly too big with the view it will last for a while. Almost spilling out of it this morning. Have brought a super bra to try out.

Finally not waking up in the morning and having to run for the toilet. Although breakfast did reappear yesterday and I get random moments of suddenly feeling sick. On the whole so much better.

Lidls body pillow seems to be fantastic. Borrowed alsorts when I was pregnant with dd but found a simple body pillow was best. Had a cheep argos one, but the lidls one is lovely and much cheeper. I love the covers too, have brought a few because they are so bright and colourful.

Emmalbae · 22/08/2015 13:45

Anyone used the baby scope app for iPhone?
It picked up my heartbeat nice and clear but can't find babies. Am ten weeks today. Knew I shouldn't of bought it as I knew I would get upset if I couldn't find it

marmitemofo · 22/08/2015 13:52

emma that sounds mega early to be trying to find a heartbeat? some MW don't even do it at 16 week appt anymore as it can be difficult to hear it even then. I really wouldn't read too much into it.

feeling a bit better past couple of days thank God! sickness has become more infrequent though still awful when it's around. I'm about 11 weeks by prob ov date so hoping I've turned a corner. have had terrible insomnia past couple of weeks - keep waking up at 4/5 Sad last week I woke up at 3am! takes me ages to get back to sleep (if I manage it) then DD is waking up 5.30-6am ish... so so tired

Emmalbae · 22/08/2015 13:55

Yep it is early, banning my self from using it as probably not great for the baby to be using it when the wifi/mobile data is turned on as well. Oops.
I panic at every little thing and am now concerned I've sent to much radiation to my foetus.

IndomitabIe · 22/08/2015 14:06

Don't worry about your phone near your baby. Here's how I explain it at school.

Mobile phones and wifi use microwaves and radio waves. This diagram shows the electromagnetic spectrum going from short wavelengths (most damaging - gamma rays, x rays) to long wavelengths (least damaging - radio waves etc.). You can see that visible light has shorter wavelengths than microwaves and radio waves. Therefore, visible light is more damaging than microwaves/radio waves. (Which is to say, not at all damaging). All these people that claim to have EM sensitivity are crackers and don't understand basic physics. And the answer to "is my mobile phone damaging?" is "not as much as the lightbulb above you".

TheNewMrsD · 22/08/2015 17:59

So I went for a bra fitting...... Have gone up 3 sizes!!!! Luckily there were a few in the sale my size so got some bargains.

Also had my scan date through. 4th Sept at 3:30pm. Am on one of my bestfriends's hen weekend then so will see if they have anything earlier in the week. Especially as hubby wanted a bit of time off work for it and he finishes early on a Fri anyway, ha!

lilmissiehopeful · 22/08/2015 21:28

Evening all. Been off radar the last couple of days as we're in the West Country with DH's family. Sorry I'm not totally up on everyone's news. Great there are loads of 12 week scans getting close. Mine is on Tuesday (think there are a couple of scan buddies on here?!) so only a couple more days to wait....eek. I'll be 12+2 based on LMP but more like 12 exactly based on the early scan. Trying not to stress about specifics as I'm not sure exactly when I ov-ed as cycle has been a bit variable since last MC. Soooo can't wait for the 12 week scan milestone to arrive (and hopefully still all on track). And hopefully sickness and tiredness will ease then too. This is bloody hard work!!

AdorabeezleWinterpop · 23/08/2015 10:03

Good luck for all the upcoming scans. Mine is tomorrow. My mum is coming with me (DH can't leave work) and I am worried something will be wrong and she will find it upsetting/won't know what to do Sad

Anyone who has has theirs, do you still need a full bladder for 12 week scan? I did for DD, but cannot remember for DS and I haven't had a letter this time (MW arranged over the phone at booking).

BeautifulLiar · 23/08/2015 11:26

Adora - good luck for tomorrow. There's a much higher chance of everything being ok than things going wrong. Although I'm also worried about this as I'll be at the scan alone.

You definitely need a full bladder - although you don't have to be fit to burst, especially if you're quite slim anyway!

Me624 · 23/08/2015 12:13

Good luck Adora. Like beautiful says there's a high chance everything will be fine, but in the unlikely event it's not the main thing is that you just have someone else there for support so you're not alone and I'm sure your mum would be able to be strong for you.

When I had my early private scan they told me to have a full bladder but they didn't say anything for my 12 week one, I don't think it matters as much by then. I had a cup of tea and a drink of water before it so it was probably half full but not uncomfortably full!

julesldn · 23/08/2015 12:56

Hi all, back from holiday and lovely to catch up with you all :)

Holiday was lovely but was very busy (was a wedding hen and stag!) so think some nights I exhausted myself and was quite sick but hoping most of it has worn off now if I get back to my usual routine.

Looking forward to my scan on Tuesday although will be 14+1!!!

Hope everyone's had lovely chilled weekends Smile

Emmalbae · 23/08/2015 14:09

Hope everyone is ok.
Good luck to everyone having scans soon. Look forward to seeing some photos.
Off to a and e in a minute as I vomited pink/red blood earlier. Hoping it's nothing but very concerned. Am in no pain though.

shieldbug · 23/08/2015 15:27

Emmalbae hope you are ok; perhaps you just burst a capillary if it was a rough vomiting session? Good idea to get checked out immediately.

Not been on for a while due to all sorts of stuff going on in rl. It's not been a great time; ds1's best friend died aged 4 in an accident so we're all pretty shaken up. They were due to start school together v. soon.

My booking in appt and scan is tomorrow. Dh isn't coming, but he's not been to many previous scans either (I really don't mind). Unfortunately ds 1&2 will be there so hoping it's not bad news. Still feeling rough as anything and exhausted, despite being 12 weeks today. Good luck to all fellow scan buddies!

julesldn · 23/08/2015 15:37

Emmelbae - hope you're ok! Let us know how you get on in a & e. Hoping it's just something as a result of throwing up lots and nothing serious. Thinking of you!!

julesldn · 23/08/2015 15:38

And shieldbug - hope you're ok too. Your poor ds must be very shaken up as must you all. That's really really sad. Sending you all hugs xxx

shieldbug · 23/08/2015 15:59

Thanks jules

Missikat · 23/08/2015 16:22

Emmalbae, hope all is ok. Sounds like it could just be from vomiting maybe.

Shieldbug, that's awful. I hope your you and son and the poor family of his friend are coping ok.

Rosie, hiya scan buddy! Mine's at 2pm, I am 12+2 by my ov date but 12+4 I think by LMP so we'll see what the scan says. Hoping all is ok.

Good luck to everyone else who has scans coming up xxx

sherazade · 23/08/2015 17:31

Good luck to all scannees tomorrow and this week, do report back in full Grin
Emmal, hope all is ok my sister had the same a couple of times in pregnancy and it was fine

IndomitabIe · 23/08/2015 18:08

Oh shieldbug that's awful. So, so sorry for your DS and his friend's family.

Hope you're ok Emmalbae. Even if it's from prolific vomming, hope that does one soon too.

I feel ropey as hell. Fortunately I'm not a puker, I've been lucky in that respect. But so, so tired and can't cope with a stuffy atmosphere. I've decided it's probably anaemia. I've hardly done anything this summer, and when I do just a couple of hours out wipes me out for two days. Not sure how I'm going to cope when term starts.

DH has researched dietary iron and is trying to create an iron-rich dinner for me from what we've got in the house. He's vegetarian, and DS & I don't tend to eat much meat either. So it's a bit of a challenge! But he's got a plan apparently.

He's also hoovered the entire house today, including stairs and sofas. Gold star Star (He cooks, I'm supposed to clean.)

Anyone want to join my pity party? Hope you're all well.

IndomitabIe · 23/08/2015 18:10

He's also checked (and approved) my multivitamins and then suggested I lick the rust of my ancient car

dobbythedoggy · 23/08/2015 18:22

So very happy at the moment. After almost 3 months of gagging whenever I so much as think about the kitchen I've managed the spend the afternoon in it cooking. Have a great big pot of roasted red pepper and lentil soup to show for it. Dd was delighted, no worries about her being ruined by the awful diet she's been fed recently, mummy needs to cook dinner again. I love cooking so it was nice to do something that made me feel like myself again. Second trimester officially starts for me on Wednesday so hoping it's a sign of things to come.

sheild how tragic for your ds and his friend's poor family ofcourse. Hope your ds isn't too shaken by it as he starts school. I'm sure his new teacher will be awear and can hopefully help him adjust to school without his friend being with him. Similar happened in the reception class I trained in, a child who's been due to start in the january in take died unexpectedly from illness 3 days before school was due to start. A lot of extra work was put into support the 2 children closest to them. If he wasn't known to the teacher as hid best friend it might be worth while pointing out as lots of the early days can be spent talking about friends.

sherazade · 23/08/2015 18:45

dobby I know the feeling. This week I've braved my nausea and have been cooking almost daily. It felt wonderful to be eating nice home cooked meals again and I felt better for the dc. It felt like a real milestone and better than living off takeaways, omelettes and cereal
