He's fabulous Nursing away atm.

It's been a bit tricky splitting time between ds1 and ds2. That's the part I had worried about a bit. I find myself upstairs playing cars or puppets with ds1 and glancing occasionally at the monitor when he isn't looking as I long to nap while ds2 naps. I have been able to rest some, but it's quite the balancing act. Luckily, so far ds2 isn't a fussy baby like ds1 so he doesn't tire me out like the first time around.

BaileysMilkshake · 01/12/2006 06:24

I have promised myself to make a huge effort with DD about time with her, and if need by bump will be parked nearby in a bouncy craddle or something.

Am still finding myself asking the question - why did I want another one, when I am so in love with DD. But like I said to Nothernmamma, it's all for DD so she wont be alone.

Was pleased to read Eli's comments about enough love for 2 LO's as I completely feel like DC2 will get in the way of having DD1 at the moment - although I suppose it's all natural!

Right I am off to bed and will force myself awake for DD when she wakes - whenever that might be!

satinshoes · 01/12/2006 08:02

Morning all,

I've come down with a stinking cold. Can quite believe it. Last thing i need

annaspanner · 01/12/2006 08:22

Mornin all
I'm going to have to ask that embarrassing question again-did any of you have really bad wind in early labour? Along with all the other signs.

annaspanner · 01/12/2006 08:25

BTW, Lucy is off to register her new LO this morning and get her stitches removed. She sounds good (very happy her difficult pregnancy is finally over) but still has no internet. She sends her love.

satinshoes · 01/12/2006 08:31

annaspanner - i had the runs. my whole body seemed to clear itself with DD1....

babypowder · 01/12/2006 11:23

40 minutes left to go at work! Yippee!!

spinasnowflake · 01/12/2006 12:04

It's taken me ages to catch up and I was only on here on wed!!!! I was having a good morning of nesting too and had done some cleaning! Can see myself losing a few hours on here!!

To quote a wise woman..

"still pg"

But I did finish work yesterday Bit weird this time round. Lots of "bye then off to have a baby see you in July!(keeping myoptions open-hehe)

Cal, how very exciting! Baby by tommorrow I guess.

Debs, haven't got onto your thread yet. Was tempted to check Nov first, but came on here to check on the Crackers. Glad to welcome you back to the Dec gang(even though I'll be kicking myself off to Jan in four weeks time!)

Unless something happen late last night and you've had the baby

spinasnowflake · 01/12/2006 12:14

Judemum, when your collegue ran off to wife in labour did you ponder if it could be one of us or a Nov poster!! Spooky.

On that note found out my "replacement" at work is due eight weeks after me!

Loulou000 · 01/12/2006 12:53

Oh so many babies on the way!

summerlovebaby · 01/12/2006 13:09

Hi everyone,

Here I am, keep disappearing and reappearing, just trying to 'get organised' since I lost 2 weeks in hospital, plus MIL is here to look after me and I am very grateful but she takes up a LOT of energy .
Spent all day nesting yesterday so feel a bit better. Just have to get shopping finished..on which note, is it worth getting sheets for moses basket or stick to normal cot ones and just halve them or whatever?? Pearls of wisdom from all would be appreciated

judemum · 01/12/2006 13:53

leaving work now! bye! next time I post I'll be free, free, free, free.............or bored.

Calmriver · 01/12/2006 13:58

Hi All, back now.

Amberli is doing well and I am currently sitting breastfeeding so excuse typing errors if any.

I will try and work out how to attach a few pics of her on here. She has reached 4lbs 9 now and it makes me happy!

They thought I was leaking amniotic fluid last Thursday at the scan, but then just wanted me to monitor it. I went into hospital on Thursday night with my BH getting strong regular and tight,so they monitored them and I had to spend my first night without DD1 which was tough!

The next day the contractions were there and they weren't sure if it was liqor on the pad(horrid looking thing!) that they gave me, so after all decided it may be safer to deliver to avoid any possible infections developing.

So off I marched into the operating theatre(same bed and room as DD1 was born on) and started my panic session. They gave me 3 blankets to put over my arms and chest to keep warm and eliminate some of the shaking.
.... Well, I looked like I was fitting after it all, but it was the spinal block and thankfully it wore off.

Amberli had low blood glucose from being small,so they kept me in a ward with 3 other lovely ladies and their babies.

I was never sure how I would feel towards another baby after loving my DD1 SO HUGELY, but it's just amazing!!!! She is amazing!

Debbsyandbibby · 01/12/2006 14:03

Spina this walking on the stairs sideways do you mean just walking up and down the stairs on the side or is it in some other position?

Calmriver · 01/12/2006 14:42

I have created a postnatal group for us! The 'Merry Christmas' Babies! I cant join the NOvember one...just can't do it.
After all these months I feel like you are my family!

BaileysMilkshake · 01/12/2006 15:42

Here I am again, went back to bed - did;nt sleep as I needed DD with me and she was wide awak. But I got lie-down, almost as good!

DH however insisted I have anap this afternoon and had a lovely 2 hour sleep - very needed!

Spoilt DD again today, bought her another couple of VD@s Mickey, and The Snowman, although am sure the latter was actually for me as I try to create some nostalgia from my childhood.

Heartburn is awful no matter what I eat and I am very uncomfortable underneath - lots of pressure.

Well Done Spina - giving up work, I like you am 'keeping my options open' Cannot belive your work have been so daft as to appoint a more that 2/3's of the way PG lady to cover you !

Anyway not spending long on here today as it gives me a headache, and am trying to make the most of my last few MIL free hours ! You wait till she gets here, I'll be camping out on our thread!

Calm - ahh, you big softy! But very pleased to hear it

dublindee · 01/12/2006 17:46

Hi guys,
Had my scan this morning and the good news is that baby now weighs about 7lbs 8ozs and he's not the small horse we dreaded he'd be! As a result I'm a hell of a lot calmer and they're happy to just let me progress towards labour naturally.

Good luck Calsworld!

Elibean · 01/12/2006 19:21

Hi all, good to see more babes on the way - good luck Cal and Anna (not been able to scroll much further down, so good luck anyone else in labour too!!)

Was readmitted for bp rising to scary levels yesterday, ecg, bloods etc normal but had to stay overnight while dose increased....seemed stable today, so am home this evening. But supposed to be in bed - so quick sneaky visit to puter to wave and back I go. HATE leaving dd a second time, though Mischa of course came with me....keeping all crossed no more scares.

Hope you're all ok - will catch up when I can!

xxxxxx

weirdbird · 01/12/2006 19:44

Thats great news dublindee

I have officially finished all my Xmas shopping and it is all wrapped, just need to finish the Xmas Cards now...

Decorations will go up on Tuesday as well after my DH has his Birthday.

Am getting all excited now

northernmama · 01/12/2006 21:24

Wow - lots of news again!! Elibean - hope that bp just starts coming on down so you can just be at home and relax!!!

Got all my stuff crossed for Calsworld - I'll bet she's had that baby by now!

Anyone heard from nearlythere? She seemed nearly there the other day for sure!

I am NOT nearly there, and to drown my sorrows, made 10 dozen shortbreads this am..... nesting d'ya think?

indiemummy · 01/12/2006 21:44

oh wow I've just spent a full hour catching up with this thread! CONGRATULATIONS to everyone who has had their babies, some beautiful names!!! And good luck to those who are about to give birth any minute now! I haven't been on here for ages, I kind of decided that evenings were better spent feet-up in front of the telly with hot chocolate than sat at a desk in front of our computer, and daytimes I seem to be way too busy with 3yo ds to get a minute to get online. Must get more organised but feel so guilty when I put him in front of the telly... Guess I'd better get used to it (the guilt AND putting him in front of the telly in fact), will be lots more of both when baby arrives...

Talking of which, I'm having elective section on Tuesday (5th)! Due date 9th. I'm massive and have had strangers asking how many babies I'm having - seriously, grrr... Trying not to think too hard about the section as makes me v queasy, but can't WAIT to hold baby - sometime on Tuesday!

take care everyone! please can i still be in the gang even if i'm not on here very often?

love indiemummy xxx

indiemummy · 01/12/2006 21:45

hi northernmama, we crossed posts. Well done on the shortbreads, I am still waiting for the nesting instinct to kick in. Haven't frozen anything but keep making banana bread - and eating it all in a couple of sittings!
What time is it there?

Xx

indiemummy · 01/12/2006 21:49

P.S. I'm having my baby in Queen Charlottes Hospital, I think there are a few others who post on here from the west side of London? x

spinasnowflake · 01/12/2006 21:50

Don't think they knew my mat cover was pg and officially can't NOT employ her if she is, but is a bit on the inconvienant side for them really.

I know I shouldn't be even thinking about this now but I would like to have the option of going back to that practicular role when I return and if shuffling goes on to fill my cover I could end up working somewhere else.

Must stop thinking about that. More important things to do first

Really feel A VERY long way from labour. So you won't be seeing any surprise announcements from me over weekend But I guess at least we've gotton to December so it'll be all go on here now(although it already has been) I mean statisically anyone with a due date before the 15th WILL have a baby this month and the rest off us will be eating a lot of pineapple!!!

TCxxxx

Carameli · 01/12/2006 21:57

i all, sounds like a lot has been kicking off here. Had a busy week here, nesting and getting everything ready. Also finihed my Christmas shopping, well most done online and just waiting for big rocking horse for dd(3yrs) to arrive on Monday.
She was also in her 1st Christmas Nativity yesterday(the nursery class were the lambs) they were so cute, all dressed up in sheepskins
e have been reading about the nativity story and she has a lovely M&S book that sings Away in a Manger. However think she has got a little confused when she came up to me the other day and patted my tummy and told daddy baby Jesus was in there certainly gave us a laugh!!!

2nd time mums here, are you/have you had your toddlers exchange presents with your new ones? We were told this was a good idea and have them ready. DD is so excited about giving the new baby a present. Just wondered if those who had already gone through it had any tips about handling new introductions.
