judemum · 30/11/2006 12:18

WB- random. Why is DH up Big Ben? Or is that an acronym for something else???! Mind grappling...

judemum · 30/11/2006 12:20

Nearlythere- keep us posted! BTW you can't just join for a few days and then go and have your baby. That's just not on. We have all been on here for weeks moaning and commiserating and you come on and pop. We might have to banish you from the site

nearlythere · 30/11/2006 12:22

WB -expert attention???? they're panicing more than me, i've never seen a bunch of women look at me like this before! Its like the village of the damned!! He Ho-told them not to worry as i'm determined to hang on in there, and i really don't fancy the whole hospital having a peek at my bits!!

nearlythere · 30/11/2006 12:26

sorry judemum!! i'll try to keep my legs crossed and go horribly overdue- will that stop me being banished??

dublindee · 30/11/2006 12:51

Eli congrats to you and Mr Eli on the arrival of baby Mischa - beautiful name.
Glad you reconciled your doubts/stress about c-section and that it turned out to be the best option in the end.

Nearlythere don't you dare have that baby!
You've only just joined so it's not fair!

to Magnolia1 for her section today

Weirdbird, pity bout the mobile thingy - any chance you could get him a beeper or something like that?

weirdbird · 30/11/2006 13:55

judemum - Nope he is up "the" Big Ben at the thought of it being an acronym, am not entirely sure "why" he is, something to do with his job... Wow I know a lot don't I!

Sadly a beeper would have the same security issue, the good news is that work have offered him a work laptop so he can do more work from home, which means if the trains are being very bad one day he can choose to stay at home and work rather than trek in..

Nearlythere - Still LMAO you make it sound like an exert [sp]?? from a Carry on Film, did they do a Carry on Maternity???

Have just ordered my Nursing Bras, am wondering if I am being optimistic only going one size bigger...

Why are there no nice b'feeding tops that arn't Rugby shirt style of just look horrible??

And why are there no Nursing bras in something other than boulder holder white once you get above a size C-E???

Elibean · 30/11/2006 14:01

Good luck today Magnolia, thinking of you

Thanks all, esp. re name as we were so unsure - but it does suit her, and goes with surname etc etc. Ulcers started healing now - hurrah! - but bp gone all unstable which is scary. Have to phone OB each time it changes, and take it 4x daily, and inreased meds in the middle of the night...blah, not the sort of thing that helps wiht enjoying new baby and integrating things at home for dd and us. But oh well - fingers crossed I don't have to be re-admitted, or inrease meds more than once more (if I do, thats re-admitting time).

Jabber, gosh - hadn't had time to see the details yesterday, but that does sound scary. And I totally relate to the mix of liking the extra bonding time and it being hard on the older sib, I see the hurt in dd's face behind the slightly wild and loud exterior, and (like most things postpartum!!) it makes me want to cry. But she's getting there...or rather, our bond is getting there...and I'm sure your DS is too. All will be worth it!

MarsLady · 30/11/2006 14:04

and your birth announcement is where Elibean?

accessorizequeen · 30/11/2006 14:21

WB, there's a thread on nice nursing bras in Products at the mo. I haven't bought any more, the ones I've been using for last few months can do until I know what size I am as I went up several cup sizes once milk comes in. Depressing as g already...

weirdbird · 30/11/2006 14:48

I will take a look AQ

I can normally "find" nice bras just not in my size as they dont expect someone with a 34" frame to get as big as a G or H...

Am an F at the moment so we shall see what happens, but last time I went up at least one size so thought I would have a bigger one to hand

dublindee · 30/11/2006 14:59

It's really frustrating trying to find bras isn't it?? So glad not just me. If you're more than a 38d then you're really up the creek.
Only just managed to get some bras in Mothercare but had to scour the whole lingerie section in a panic as mostly they only had "normal sizes"!!!
Ah well, just one more thing we can moan about while we're pg eh?

judemum · 30/11/2006 15:17

just come back from second leaving lunch. Had wild mushroom rissotto and now can't move and wondering what time I can safely slide off home. Tomorrow is last day and thinking of bunking off early to go and watch the new James Bond- apprently Daniel Craig is worth watching.. might get me moving...so that's the rest of my week sorted!

northernmama · 30/11/2006 15:38

Morning all! Beeen lurking for a while just trying to catch up on all the posts!!!

Welcome to Nearlythere and holy cow, having that baby right away I'm jealous!!! (and not due for 3 more weeks)

Eli - congrats on baby!!! Sorry to hear that its been so rough. Deep thoughts coming your way to speed recovery!!

Oli - nice to hear from you too - thought that maybe you were off pooping yourself....

northernmama · 30/11/2006 15:43

I've been off work for almost a week already and I'm bored in the sense that I have way too much time to think about things.... mostly irrelevant things to worry about or panic over.

Unfortunately, i haven't been able to sleep well for a while so I spend a lot of time just being exhausted. Makes me a poor mum, and my hubby really gets it too... Tuesday night was a really good sleep, but that's the only one so far this week!!

Hey judemum!

northernmama · 30/11/2006 15:47

Oh crap! It's almost 9:00am here and I have to get the kids off to get their hiarcuts!!!! It's a good thing that I have a calendar AND a really good friend to phone and remind me, otherwise my children would look like jungle babies in dirty clothes and wild hair!!

Will be back surfing later!!

Glad to hear about the arrivals of the wee ones... hope Magnolia is doing well, am thinking about her today....

my youngest is climbing all over me, trying to post to you guys today!

BaileysMilkshake · 30/11/2006 16:00

Hey all, spasms have subsided, but I have had loads of strong BH today and a horrendous back ache - why are aches actually worse than pains.

Our compst bin finally arrived so DH has been out in the garden and both he and DD got covered in mud!

All this re bras, I have two that have seen me for the entire pg. Must think about a nursing bra though. Not sure if the ones I had last time will fit??

Thank heavens for Sudocreme as again its seen off another nasty red spot on my boob. My GP thinks they may be related to the PG or hormones at least but I have to keep my eye on them. And as with all spots and scratches I get while PG long after they have healed and gone I am still left with a purple mark to remind of it's existence.

jabberwocky · 30/11/2006 16:05

eli, I can't even imagine trying to keep up with your bp schedule. I'm supposed to take my meds 3 x a day and check bp once or twice. Realized last night that I hadn't checked it all day and I thinkn I missed a dose of meds I have got to do better than that?

Hey, I forgot to tell my quirky strep B story. You know it's a standard test over here at 36 weeks. So I wound up having it done the day before my water broke. The surgeon came around the day after ds2 was born and said "Hey you're strep B hadn't come back yet when we did you're surgery but we just found out it was positive. It doesn't matter though, b/c you had to have the pre-meds anyway." (this is for another condition and I knew I would be having the meds)

Weird, huh?

Nearly there - how are things coming along?

lulumama · 30/11/2006 16:11

elibean congratulations...your virtual doulas were waiting for news on your other thread!! sorry you were so poorly...and love the name you have chosen...glad all went well and delighted to hear of the safe arrival....xxxxxxxxxxxxx

northernmama · 30/11/2006 16:17

Hey BM - I get red spots too! I have actually had cracked nipples twice already and several red pimple like spots that hurt like crazy... your docs think hormones? Mine isn't sure at all - wonders if its a chronic yeast infec.

BaileysMilkshake · 30/11/2006 16:28

NM my first appeared after a dose of anti-biotics for a water infection - and my OB upset me by saying I had to see a breast surgeon. But saw my GP who recommended the antiseptic nappy rash cream and that's been great at reducing them

northernmama · 30/11/2006 16:38

I'll keep that in mind. Sudocreme is a great rash creme -- meant the world to my little guys arse ..... have you had issues with recurrent yeast infec? I'm starting to worry that I'm not going to be able to bf the newest... I had to go the bf'ing clinic last time because I had so many yeast infec. and cracks in my nipples. Months worth...

northernmama · 30/11/2006 16:43

Off to get haircuts all... wich me luck holding my 2 year old still enough to get it done straight. I need to get Christmas pictures done and would like people to be able to see his eyes and know he's actually a boy!!!

Will check in again later!

NM

BaileysMilkshake · 30/11/2006 16:46

I could'nt BF my daughter, my milk did;nt come in for 2 weeks, by which time bottle feeding was firmly established and the scare we had with her going in to special care because she was straved put us off trying it.

This time I am still enthusiastic to BF, but not going to beat myself up if it doesnt work.

But part of me feels that why should this baby get to BF when DD did'nt. I am quite protective of DD, last night after bath when we were having drying cuddles I just sat holding her wondering why I wanted another child when I am so happy with her, it was real warm and fuzzy moment - then I remembered I wanted it for her so she would'nt be a lonely, only child like me!
