clara Birth Skills is a great book. With DS I planned to use a few techniques but in the end just used stress balls (well, improvised ones!) and that was enough to allow me to cope for the first few hours of strong contractions.
I ended up with an epidural though as DS was back to back.

I'm definitely going to re-read it and use the technique(s) again this time.

clarabellski · 24/08/2015 13:46

Ouch montagues! The woman in the book got 'stuck' at 9 1/2 centimetres and ended up with an epidural as well! What I like about the book so far is the 'give it a go' attitude and be open to things not going 'to plan' (whatever the plan is).

I do wonder how loud the vocalisation stuff needs to be though. I can imagine a ward full of ladies screaming 'ahhhhh' or 'moooo' at the top of their lungs! Blush

Has anyone else noticed an increase in heartburn/indigestion? I had a bad attack last night and took some out of date rennies (tsk tsk) and bounced around on my gym ball trying to make myself burp! Still kicking around today, eurgh...

haquoi123 · 25/08/2015 10:20

We're back!!

clara, if I get awful indigestion my DH rubs my back and it brings the burp right up. Give it a go! Good practice for when the babe is here!

I vocalised nonstop with DS, it got to fair howling stage, although not out of control! When I started growling they were asking about pressure or pain. The woman who was with me said it sounded like I was singing (I'm not f**ing singing!!)

I got stuck at 6cm with both of mine! They just pumped in the oxytocin with DS once they realised!

So glad my mn is back. I think I might be addicted Blush Confused

CalypsoLilt · 25/08/2015 14:26

I've been trying to log on ALL day, this is my first successful attempt!

overreactionemoticon · 25/08/2015 15:10

Finally back online, what a palava! Montagues I had done the same as you and when it wouldn't log me in tried a couple of my other passwords (even though I knew which was my mn one really), stupid really.

Banana how are you doing? Thinking of you lots and hope the waiting isn't too hard.

Calypso I felt fewer movements last week so ordered myself a Doppler Blush. DP said it's a waste of money but after the worry I've had so far I needed reassurance. Of course since I got it she's been moving around like mad!

Still weird knowing she's a girl. DP was disappointed at first but seems ok now. I think it was just the whole man wanting a son thing.

Sickness had massively eased off last week to the extent I felt almost normal but feel rough today, hopefully won't last.

Hope everyone else is doing ok too.

SweetCharlotteRose · 25/08/2015 17:54

16+5 now, don't feel movement every day.
Went back to gp, she said my issues around this pregnancy are too specific for the counselling to help so looks like I will have to pay privately.

Had a private scan this morning, all ok but baby is a bit fat - probably due to my type 1 diabetes - but only measuring a day ahead so not too bad I guess.
Baby is a girl. I surprised myself by how pleased I was. I didn't think I had any particular preference after all the treatment we've had. I suppose I've always liked the idea of a daughter though and we won't be able to have anymore children. I am shocked though as dh has all brothers, nephews and great nephews. Only one girl has been born out of 14 babies.

Rufus200 · 25/08/2015 18:14

Had my 16 week appointment today and had a scan. All good, definitely a boy! Dr really surprised us by doing 4D pics! His feet are blurry because he wouldn't stay still but you can see his little nose. I love him.

I've booked myself in for my c-section. The Dr said to her receptionist that she knew it was crazy early but could she book it, only for the receptionist to say actually there is already one booked for the slot you want that day! So I'm not the only highly organised anxious pregnant lady on her books!!! Now I'm stressed about who is going to get to go to theatre 1st as I wanted to be the 1st op of the day. I get hysterical waiting to go down to theatre and was a complete mess last time she operated on me and as they won't be giving me a general they need to keep me as calm as possible or they are going to have serious problems with me in theatre. Only 5 months of worrying about the day to go!

Rufus200 · 25/08/2015 19:22

I was also weighed today, really didn't want to know! I've put on 10kgs!!! Shock Blush No more cake for me!!!

NoMontagues · 25/08/2015 19:28

Congrats rufus Smile that's so sweet.

NoMontagues · 25/08/2015 19:30

I've just eaten an entire sharing bag of fruit pastilles Blush

jellypi3 · 25/08/2015 19:40

Aww lovely scan rufus. Yay for a boy! :) who wants to do the next thread

XingXingFox · 25/08/2015 19:51

Hurrah for a boy rufus and girl charlotte! How amazing to know already!!!

I just came back from Ireland and had to do the airport bus with DD on my own as AdH had to go to work and I had such bad morning sickness combined with travel sickness that I vommed on the bus but only had a cashew nut bag to do it into. DD was very sweet. Truly the most hideous and yuk moment of pregnancy so far. 16 week scan on Friday and then the 20 week cannot come fast enough!
