Hi ladies - sorry for being quiet, had trouble logging back in so had to email mumsnet! Hope everyone is ok.. Good luck at app this pm curly

haquoi123 · 21/08/2015 15:29

badgie that sounds awful! How far along are you now? Really hope there's some let up soon!

I had my 16 week appointment today as well curly, and the heartbeat was there. Lovely! 15+6 today. Best of luck with yours! Other people have mentioned that the bloating has started to go down so the bumps are smaller (not me, I bloat after drinking water!)

Is anyone else completely and utterly in love already? I know I loved ds at this stage, but I'd forgotten what it feels like and it feels like the fear is amping it up a little. I'm completely head over heels! What a wonderful feeling

haquoi glad app went well. I agree, my fear is amped up ready for 20 week scan which is over a month away. Trying not to think about it but it's tricky.

BadgieBear · 21/08/2015 17:19

haquoi I'm 15 weeks today. Agree totally besotted with the little rascal, despite the sickness. Am so pleased your 16 week appt went well, counting down to mine on 3rd Sept - can't wait to hear the baby's heartbeat!

Am totally jealous of all you ladies getting movements, how lovely!

Rufus200 · 21/08/2015 18:43

haquoi happy for you that you appointment went well

I went to Seraphine today and got some jeans. I thought I would want over the bump but didn't like the fit of any of them. Ended up that the under the bump ones in the sale fitted best and were most comfortable! I was very surprised by the sizing as I am now definitely a size 12 but was a size 10 there, I think they maybe put a smaller size label on to make you feel better. Also anyone who is going to buy jeans I found the ones with the button to make them look like normal jeans, they have put the button right where your bladder is and it is so uncomfortable standing up in them but impossible to sit down in.

jellypi3 · 21/08/2015 18:59

Also had my 16w appointment today :) heard the heartbeat and bloods all came back fine.

Another one here waiting for 20w appointment anxiously! But it was so reassuring hearing the heartbeat whooshing away in there!

17+1 today!

Littleoakhorn · 21/08/2015 20:00

Evening all, how are you? Hello Chinchilla, we're due date buddies. I have a feeling that by February we'll be the only ones still waiting. Everyone else seems miles ahead! Maybe that's just me wishing the time away until proper kicks, second tri glow Hmm etc...

Monty I love, love, love red hair, so ignore your mum.

Who do I need to pm about the Facebook group?

Curlywurlies · 21/08/2015 22:23

Glad to hear other happy tales! My midwife initially refused to listen to the heartbeat, she says they have a policy not to listen until the next appointment (which is 25 weeks), because it can be hard to find and people get stressed. So I told her I'd heard it myself a week earlier and asked very nicely and said I wouldn't get stressed Wink. She did have a listen and I heard it fleetingly, enough to satisfy myself (my husband heard it too), although she kept going on about how it was too early to be sure. Not great but never mind. I cried watching TV tonight so I guess that's a symptom that's still there! Happy weekends to you all!

IslaMann · 21/08/2015 23:01

If anyone wants to join the FB group, send me a PM with your fb name and a description of your profile pic and cover pic. I'll then send you a friend request. Once you've accepted I can add you to the group, after which, if you wish to, you can then delete me as a friend.

RattyCatty · 22/08/2015 07:27

isla how do you send a PM? Confused

IslaMann · 22/08/2015 07:43

Ratty if you're on the iPhone app there's a small box with an arrow next to a post. When you press it you get a box that says send private message. Press, write, send! On the desktop, next to the posters name in the blue bar is the option to send a message.

NoMontagues · 22/08/2015 07:44

Ah thanks littleoak Smile

Just a reminder that there may be a security issue with sending private info over PMs at the moment, due to the site hack.

NorthernChinchilla · 22/08/2015 07:59

Had a fun night out last night- one of the group of people I work with is getting married so we through her a surprise party Smile she was so chuffed!
Rufus, sounds like your Mum has a gift with phraseology but perhaps less of a bedside manner!
And that sounds dreadful badgie you poor thing.

I'm definitely feeling a million times better than I did in T1, and compared to most I barely had any symptoms. It started the day of the scan, so a combo of pure chance and psychosomatic I think.

Those of you who've done it before, how did you let your DC know about the new baby?

NorthernChinchilla · 22/08/2015 08:01

And hello Littleoakhorn - it definitely seems we're the last in queue, I keep on reading that people are 17 weeks or something and being first confused then Envy !

haquoi123 · 22/08/2015 08:18

chinchilla I don't have living dc, but have two very young sisters aged 6 and 3. I was very cautious about telling them this time as it was so hard dealing with their questions when ds died. But the 6 year old started to work it out so I wrote her a little letter explaining about the baby and that we were a worried but very happy and she should ask any questions she has about either babies. I also included ultrasound scans of both babies, and our parents read the letter to both of them. It seemed to really work actually and she's besotted with the pictures. The younger one has sort oof found out via osmosis, I couldn't bear telling her properly. But also I've got my parents as buffers to do most of the work.

Hello! I'm back under a new but hopefully recognisable name! gone let me know if you didn't see my post about which blankets etc to use with the amby. Mumsnet have deleted all my old posts as with the leak I'm quite identifiable.

Anyway. Have got my 16 week on Friday, really looking forward to hearing the heartbeat. I've definitely got smaller, as less boated but still haven't found decent jeans.

I've told DD and she's constantly talking to it and has decided it's a sister and it's just so lovely to hear her say "when she's here, I'll love her and play with her". There's a book called there's a house inside mummy's table which is excellent and she really grasped the concept as it definitely freaked her out beforehand, the idea of someone inside. She's a bit young in some ways for her age and I don't think it's occurred to her to ask how it got there.

I do feel like this pregnancy is going on forever. I'm definitely sicker and more anxious with this one and it feels like forever till the 20 week scan.

Have happy weekends all! Smile

haquoi123 · 22/08/2015 09:10

xing so good to have you back!

My jojo order arrived on Thurs (one package through the letter box, other torn open and chucked over garden fence where it lay in the rain overnight and was only found by chance in the morning. Luckily everything ok but complaints have been made). The leggings are too blooming small and the dress too blooming big. Both are the small size. So stupid. Heading back to h&m, which was the best of a bad bunch, I'm not having any fun with this maternity clothes lark!

OP posts:
monkerina · 22/08/2015 09:52

Morning ladies! Chinchilla and Little, I kinda feel the same- due 18/2, it's lovely hearing about 20week scans etc but makes me feel properly jealous and waaay behind! [ungrateful cah]

Got my NT results this morning- 1 in 6800, which I guess means that this is really actually happening and have to get on with 1) telling people like my parents... and 2) buying maternity wear. It still doesn't feel real and still stupidly worried about jinxing it, but none of my clothes fit Confused

goneswimming · 22/08/2015 10:25

Hi chinchilla and little, I'm right at the back with a due date of 25/02, just coming up to 14 weeks now- can't wait for the 16 week appointment because I'm hoping she'll use the Doppler for me too! My boss at work told me yesterday that his best friends have just lost a pg at 14 weeks and to take extra care of myself- I think he meant it well but obviously it freaked me out a bit...my boobs are softer and not tender anymore and I've had some quite sharp pains on my left side this week- I'd assume stretching etc but obviously now I'm worried.... As always!

haquoi123 · 22/08/2015 10:39

Those comments, while meant well gone, are fairly unhelpful, aren't they? When I lost ds the number of people who would come to me and say 'don't worry, so and so had 5 miscarriages but they've got their baby now' and I'm just there going, 5?! I'm struggling with the one! That's the icing on the cake, there were far more. My heart goes out to your boss' friends though, it's an utterly awful, soul destroying experience. I shouldn't worry too much, you're looking out for cramping, spotting/bleeding and leaking of fluid as danger signs, rather than stabbing pain as those are normal. And my boobs barely feel anything. And, while I think stats are a pile of shit, having been part of the 1‰, it is almost as low as that.

haquoi123 · 22/08/2015 11:02

But at the same time, if you're worried is always worthwhile giving your midwife a call just to check. Best to be sure. Sorry, didn't mean to shut down your fears, not my intention.

SweetCharlotteRose · 22/08/2015 11:23

Hi all

I'm feeling a bit dejected as I've had a letter today saying that the counselling service the GP referred me aren't able to help me.
I'm feeling so anxious and I'm really struggling to accept this pregnancy after all the failed fertility treatment. I spoke to the GP about it because I'm worried it's going to result in pnd which I had last time anyway.
The letter is very short - it just says we've looked at your case and can't help.

Tiredoftiredness · 22/08/2015 11:27

Popping in to say hi- not been on for a while as really really struggling with tiredness at the moment. Not sure if it is pg related or just being ridiculously busy at work but I've been struggling!

15+2 now and had my 16w appt yesterday, have to say it was pretty pointless, not my regular midwife, wouldn't listen for HB and just repeated BP/urine checks that I'd had done at the hospital on Tuesday. Oh well!

Consultant was good though, now got a special scan booked for 22 weeks to check the blood flow through my placenta as well as the 20 week anomaly scan and loa of Bp checks. Going to be busy!

Lovely to read about people starting to feel movements/hearing HB etc. I've wondered if I felt movements a couple of times but have a very grumbly belly thanks to the IBS so not sure!

Tiredoftiredness · 22/08/2015 11:28

forgot to say, where would everyone recommend for maternity bras please? Have tried m&s mothercare and new look but can't get on with any of them. Want shaped but not padded, can't stand the unshaped ones!

Tiredoftiredness · 22/08/2015 11:29

Sorry Charlotte, x post. Can you go back to GP and push to be seen?
