Hi! Anyone else around yet who's expecting in April 2016? I've searched Mumsnet but can't find a thread- apologies if I've missed it. Just got my BFP today due date would be 2nd April (so the NHS website tells me). Would be great to have company on this journey!!

Thanks spotted and Dexlie I'm sure you're right. Nice to have a symptom to make it real!

Like Alva (and someone else I'm sorry I've forgotten) I'm still bfing DD. That's what I'm concerned about at the moment - I don't think I want to tandem feed. Though may do some more research about it. Hoping pregnancy changes the milk and she doesn't want to any more.

Sophia1984 · 09/08/2015 11:21

TriJo Did you go ahead with the race? Hope it went well if you did :-) tessandjude I am such a tea addict, but have immediately gone down to one cup a day and am suffering! Had a mini-freak out last night as I had assumed herbal tea was a better option, but apparently some kinds of it (the ones I was drinking) can be bad in first trimester! Going to go buy some de-caf today!

Forders · 09/08/2015 13:04

Hi all, tentatively signing in after getting a BFP this morning. I'll be four weeks tomorrow with a due date of 18th April. I've been feeling sick for days so BFP wasn't exactly a surprise! Also got very sore boobs and feeling lightheaded every now and then. Oh, and absolutely knackered!

All being well, this will be baby two - I have a DS who'll be two next month. I had a miscarriage in March so pretty worried about everything being ok this time, really don't want to go through that again.

Quick question - the Clearblue test this morning said I was 3+ weeks when I know I only conceived two weeks ago (I get a lot of pain when ovulating so I know exactly when it happened.) Does this mean my hcg (or whatever the pregnancy hormone's called) levels are quite high? Is this good? Or is the test just an anomaly? The instructions said it was 93% accurate at determining dates which seems pretty good to me, but I guess I could be one of the 7% they get wrong. It couldn't mean twins could it? I have read that levels are higher in multiple births but I don't even want to think about that possibility... No twins in close family but a fairly distant relative did have triplets naturally Shock - definitely not thinking about that though!

ashboo76 · 09/08/2015 14:26

Hi everyone been ready you all since yesterday can I join in?

Got my BFP this morning due 13th April I think. I was pretty sure I would as period 4 days late just got back off hols yesterday.... I'm chuffed to bits ttc 11 months one mc in March tho at 6 ish weeks so will be pretty anxious for next 8 weeks Confused... So snap Forders we can be anxious together.

Hopefully this is my first and DH first and I'm 39 due two weeks before my 40Grin!

Londonlady2015 · 09/08/2015 14:35

Hi all

Congrats on the new bfps and welcome, hopefully we can all be a bit if support for each other!

So since Friday I've had nausea but no actual sickness. Food wise the only things that are really settling my tum or agreeing with me are carbs, my oh just made fish salad and I struggled to eat it! Of course now I'm worried baby won't get the proper nutrients because I'm eating mostly junk.

Will be messaging doctor surgery about lack of booking appt before 12 week scan too but I'm going on a 2.5 week holiday next week so don't really see it happening before scan anyway...

CousinChloe · 09/08/2015 15:00

London lady I think your body is really efficient at getting whatever nutrients it can to your baby, some people can't keep much food down at all but their babies still grow. I wouldn't worry, but just do your best to find healthy stuff you do fancy as well.

Athousandtrees · 09/08/2015 15:06

Hi all, can't believe some of you are taking part in marathons and triathlons, I can barely get from the sofa to the fridge!!!
Yesterday was the worst sickness ever, but today I've been medicating with carbs every few hours and have dispatched dh to shop for caramel squares, and am feeling a lot better.
I wasn't sick at all with ds1 so this is totally different, wondering if it'll be a dd this time.

Emileelogan · 09/08/2015 15:50

Hello im going to join in if that's OK. I git my BFP 06/07 so EDD is 07/04/16... Very excited but a bit scared to as a friend has just had a rough time :'( suppose I feel a bit guilty so everything us crossed... Good luck and congrats to all xxx

DizzyMerry · 09/08/2015 15:54

I'm pottering about on here rather nervously as I have hardly any symptoms. Hopefully I will be hit with something soon! I know that sounds bizarre but I really need to feel this happening.

kungfupannda · 09/08/2015 18:31

I'm in. EDD of 9/4/16 so just over 5 weeks. This is number 3 and I'm turning 40 in 5 days, so a bit nervous this time.

woundbobbin · 09/08/2015 21:04

Hello everyone congrats and welcome to the newbies.

We've had a weeks holiday with no wi fi so just been catching up on what everyone is doing.

I was nauseated for most of the week but luckily avoided being sick till this morning it's hit me now and I'm dreading the next 6 weeks or so with dd I had to stop eating to survive and I felt grim. Am not looking forward to work tomorrow expecting to have to pull over to vom in a lay-by on the way in Hmm

In this area you have your booking appointment at the 12 week scan so don't see anyone in the 1st trimester. I've not bothered contacting the GP yet they just tell you to pick up a brown envelope at reception and you fill in the paperwork.

Well done to those running etc I manage to shuffle round the streets about 3 times a week but expect sickness will stop that now.

I've told my parents but that's it. DH will keep it a secret for as long as possible. Dd is almost 3 I wasn't planning on telling her till I'm quite pregnant she thinks everything happens now or at worst tomorrow the concept of 9 months would blow her mind Grin

Hope everyone feeling ok - it's lovely to have company.

BowBelle81 · 09/08/2015 22:13

Sophia, I'm also supposed to be running a half-marathon in September, on the 5th. I asked my GP and he wasn't very helpful, just said "well, I wouldn't. You'll probably just find you're too tired". Annoying though I think he's right, as I was completely knackered doing 5k this morning. I think that might be the weekend we tell our friends (a group of us are travelling together for the weekend to run it) as I'm betting "oh, I haven't done enough training/I'm not feeling well" isn't going to cut it as an excuse...

TriJo · 09/08/2015 23:18

Finished the London Triathlon Olympic distance this morning, took it very slow and handy and had a great day :)

Went home and slept for two hours afterwards though. No more workouts longer than 90 minutes I think.

Expectantrobot · 10/08/2015 08:18

So I am pretty sure I've got anaemia. Am so worn out I can barely move and inside my eyelids are completely pale, not red. I've taken the day off work and switched to a pregnancy multivitamin this morning which has some iron in it but wondering if I should go and see my GP anyway?

TriJo · 10/08/2015 08:59

No harm getting it checked out - if you're low you may need Galfer/Ferrograd C etc to build your levels up quickly, and most prenatal multivitamins don't have quite as much iron in them.

Mummyofonesofar · 10/08/2015 09:07

congratulations to the newbes - are we going to start stats?

Wow a triathlon - well done TriJo !!

I keep feeling a little nauseated for a few mins then it passes, I am lucky I guess, sorry to those struggling. With DS I had 2nd trimester sickness so keep reminding myself not to worry too much. Only 2.5 weeks til my reassurance scan Grin

Sophia1984 · 10/08/2015 09:31

That's amazing TriJo! Well done you.
BowBelle81 Mine's the Great North Run so the weekend after :-) It didn't sound like you're doctor thought it was dangerous - just that they underestimated you! I'm just going to take it easy and probably not go faster than my jogging pace which is about 6.50 minutes per km. Luckily I'm not running with anyone so won't have to make excuses!

I've got an appointment with my GP today - any ideas on what they'll do? What kind of questions should I ask?

neutronflow · 10/08/2015 09:33

Hello! Wow, it seems a long, long time since I joined my last antenatal thread, which was "due in March 2007" (ds was actually born in April that year).

I'm 38 now and the thought of having a second baby, aged 39, makes me feel quite old. (I'd be 39, not the second baby. I rather assume that would be a newborn. Wink)

But, yes... tested on the first day of missed AF to a VERY faint line... a week later it was a full-on BFP. I have to go to the doc to sort antenatal care, though ds is here all week (I haven't told him yet... feel free to comment on my 'when to tell ds' thread ... so I don't want to take him to the docs with me), then next week, although he is going to his dad's for a few days, I am going away camping with dh for those days ... then after that, when ds gets back, dh, ds and I are going to a festival together... it'll be a little while before I can get to the doc. But I don't mind, it gives me longer to collect my thoughts (I would like a homebirth, as I didn't have a very nice time of it in hospital last time, though this in part was down to xh being awful, and my dh is just lovely).

NHS website says I'm due on 11th April. I hope not, as that's my ds' birthday!

Hello and congrats to all of you! Flowers

ashboo76 · 10/08/2015 09:33

I think if in doubt ring the doc robot.... I've done that this morning as had chronic back ache all night so much so I was convinced I had a water infection but if woken up form a lie in (thankful for working from home today) and it's practically gone....googled the hell out of it ... Like you do... Lots of reports of horrible back pain especially lying down to sleep .... Brilliant just when your shattered already SmileBrew

seeing doc at 4 as have a long week at work from tomo and need the reassurance and suggestions of easing it can't do another night like that I went on the sofa DH slept through it Hmm I may start a list of times he has it easy lol

ashboo76 · 10/08/2015 09:35

Hi neutron flow congrats I too am 39 due 13th April but I'll be 40 two weeks after due date ... All being well Thanks

TriJo · 10/08/2015 09:41

Sophia Consider using a planned run-walk strategy (run 5/walk 1 minute etc) if you plan on doing it. There will be absolutely tons of people around your pace at the GNR. High-five every kid on the route and enjoy it :)

Mummyofonesofar · 10/08/2015 09:59

Congrats neutron No idea about when to tell your DS – I see quite a few people don’t plan on telling their DCs until 12 week scan so that must be the best option. I told my 6yo DS as soon as I tested, we went through a mc in May which he was aware of so fully understands the risk. He also really appreciated us thinking enough of him to involve him in the mourning process and said when we get pg again that he wants to know asap just like before. Even though he said it was upsetting “at least he got to love the baby for a little while” his words melted my heart and convinced me he was mature enough to go through it again if it happened. But positivity!! I know you have the added confusion of evil exdh, my exdp is no contact so we don’t have to worry about that.

Dexlie0806 · 10/08/2015 12:20

Welcome and congratulations Neutron. We will be waiting till after the 12 weeks scan to tell our ds's (aged 7 and 3) about the pregnancy. For 2 reasons. The first reason to wait is we aren't going to tell many people before this time and no way could my 2 keep a secret Grin. And second we have had 2 mc's on this journey to ttc #3 and I know the boys would be very very upset if we then had to tell them they weren't going to have a brother or sister.

It just depends on your ds and situation I suppose. Hope u reach your decision easily. It's a tricky one.

waxweasel · 10/08/2015 13:52

My DD knew as soon as we tested - she follows me around like a shadow so it was either tell her at the same time as DH or keep it from him until the evening too. She did tell everyone at nursery but then we had a chat about it being a secret and she's not told anyone else, despite plenty of opportunities and situations which I thought would prompt her. She is being very good at understanding it'll be a long time - every morning she reminds me 'DD waiting nicely baby sister come out, need to grow big' and talks about how she's coming in spring with the easter bunny. But of course she has no idea when that is! So it may well be a different story in a few weeks...

In the meantime, she is insisting on 'DD share with baby sister' with all food and toys. Which involves hoiking my top up and squirreling stuff up there. Yesterday it was a melting peppa pig ice cream. Lovely.

She is also going to be gutted if it's a boy. She won't even discuss the possibility!

CousinChloe · 10/08/2015 13:53

There are so many of us already, it's great! I told DH this morning, and I'm really pleased to say he was thrilled. We're both a teeny bit overwhelmed with the idea of two, but we love spending time with our Dd so are excited to add to our family. Watching OBEM on catch up now for research...
