Wow! You lot have been busy! I've not been on for a little while and I haven't quite caught up (and posted on the old thread). Had DH's 30th Birthday weekend last weekend, so lots going on. Then we've had a week off together which has been lovely. Haven't done a lot but it's been nice just spending some time together, plus we've booked a holiday! Going to Tenerife in September which we're both looking forward to.

Had my 20 week scan letter through, 15th August! Only 3 weeks away!! We went out on our Anniversary last Monday and bought one outfit, but the choice of neutral clothes wasn't great. So we're definitly going to find out the sex.

We went to John Lewis on our anniversary day out and I think we're going for the uppababy vista. DH loved it too, really light, folds up well (we do have a big boot though) and steers well one handed for dog walking. Plus it seems quite sturdy so will hopefully do this one and any others we have. I love the chicco bed side sleeper too. We have been given a moses basket and stand so we'll get a new matress for that as well and keep that downstairs. We're not buying anything until after the 20 week scan but I like having things clear in my head! Always planning...

Had my 16 week appointment on Wednesday, midwife checked my blood pressure, had a feel of my tummy and all felt normal apparently. Heard the heart beat which was lovely! Although it made us laugh, while I was getting on the table the midwife was saying how I wasn't to panic, sometimes it can take a while to find it, they're so small and wriggly it's not easy... found it literally the second she put the doppler on my belly! Then baby booted the probe thingy... But it was lovely to hear.

spydie · 24/07/2015 21:05

MissMartin10 where do you get the numbing cream from? I'm awful with blood tests and I never have a good flow, meaning they usually have to fiddle or stick me in the other arm SadConfused

ValancyJane · 24/07/2015 21:07

stupid So far baby gets a mix of my singing along to 90's classics and cheesy music on the way to work (think S Club 7 and Blue, I'm not proud!) and a fair few country music CD's too (the shame!). I also play the piano so it's had a fair bit of classical too. Apparently Mozart's allegedly good for their development (I take it with a pinch of salt), however since I play quite badly and my piano's out of tune I do worry I'm doing more harm than good! Wink

MissMartin10 · 24/07/2015 22:15

spydie it called Emla cream (5%) .. its £5.50 from tesco pharmacy.. but pretty much any pharmacy does it.. you do need to get a little plastic bandage aswell but if you ask they will have them.. honestly i can't believe how well it works! ive not felt a thing yet when having my bloods and i am the biggest needle phobe everrrrr!

MissMartin10 · 24/07/2015 22:22

oh on terms of music i like anything but especially rap and r&b Blush .. i love the kanye west lullaby album hehe!

Blackandwhitecat3 · 24/07/2015 22:45

Friend of mine swears by the uppababy vista, so it's a strong contender on our list.

Thanks for all the reassurance, lovely ladies, I'm going to try not to think about childbirth at all over our two week hols (starting tomorrow at PIL, kind of dreading seeing my MIL first time pg, give me strength!). Have a fab two weeks, hope to come back to hear all ms has passed, especially top chunderer MissMartin really hope you feel better soon. I'm sure I will drop in, we're not going abroad, but planning on taking a bit of a break from th threads and Dr Google....

lilyb84 · 25/07/2015 00:14

Stupidgirl bit of a metal household here too so bean's already been to two of his dad's gigs (one was tonight) and will be hearing a lot of Iron Maiden, Sabbath, Metallica and likely some fairly heavy stuff too which I won't go into for fear of putting my future mothering credentials into question Grin

Definitely lots of Queen, Paul Simon, Britney and Bright Eyes too!

Had a horrible day today, completely knackered and feeling really sick plus ongoing headache (after over 3 weeks should I see a Dr now...?). I then clearly didn't eat well enough as had a bit of a dizzy/fainting spell this afternoon and had to lie down in the first aid room for a while.

Still managed a night out in Shoreditch (yuck) at aforementioned gig plus dinner with friends PLUS drinks afterwards and am still travelling home. Think I'll be having a bit of a write-off weekend!!

ValancyJane · 25/07/2015 08:35

black Have a lovely break, hope you get some sunshine Smile

lily That sounds seriously rubbish, poor you. I would maybe mention the headache to the doctors or the midwives, could be linked to blood pressure or something if you're going dizzy? If it's been going on that long I think you should get it checked out. Good effort at still managing a night out though, you made me giggle at yuck Shoreditch, I used to live in north London and my flatmate (who was far too cool for her own good) loved going out in Shoreditch, we usually ended up in some hideously up itself nightclub or overpriced bar, I tended to avoid it where possible!! Was far happier in the local dive of a pub where drinks were cheap, they played awesomely cheesy music and we could stumble home via the takeaway. (Looking back I don't think I was ever really cool enough to live in London!)

coffeenut · 25/07/2015 08:37

have a great holiday b&W!

Not sure i would classify muse as metal but if so, I'm a metal fan Grin. B3 is getting a mix of nursery rhymes and electronica.

lily just reading about your night out has made me immeasurably tired. Well done! Hope the dp appreciates it Smile

lovely that you heard the hb so quickly loveu Smile

brickiemum2 · 25/07/2015 08:45

Hi all. I'm still around. On holiday with very questionable but expensive WiFi. Still bleeding Sad and having previously felt lots of movements I've not felt much at all if anything for the last week. In all honesty I'm really not coping with the stress but I'm trying to hide it from the kids so that they enjoy their holiday. I know for a fact if I'd been at home I would've been asking to go in to be checked. Don't want to make a fuss here though as a trip to the nearest hospital would waste a whole day and worry the children. There's not much they could do anyway.....it is what it is I guess.

Oysterbabe · 25/07/2015 08:47

Sharp stabby pains in the night, low down and on the right, that scared the bejesus out of me. Round ligament pain I hope.

Oysterbabe · 25/07/2015 08:48

Oh Brickie Sad
When are you back?

ValancyJane · 25/07/2015 08:58

Oyster I think it's normal, I've had similar on and off.

Brickie Sad Could you not leave the kids with OH for the day and go and get it checked out? I think you probably should, you don't have to tell them where you're going. I know it must be incredibly hard x x

crumble74 · 25/07/2015 09:30

Have a lovely holiday b&w, get away from it all a bit!

Sorry to hear bleeding is still ongoing brickie. It must be very stressful. How much longer are you away for? If I had another week of it or more I'd probably go to get checked out but I think movements can still be very erratic before 20 weeks even if more consistent before.

mrschatty · 25/07/2015 09:57

brickie sorry to hear this Sad like others have said if you have a while left maybe see about getting checkled out. Or would you rather wait until your home?

coffeenut · 25/07/2015 10:26

brickie don't read too much into the lack of movement. I was thinking the other day that after last week feeling quite a bit, this week I've felt not much at all. crumble is right about being erratic at this stage.

CubanoHabana · 25/07/2015 10:30

Ditto what others have said brickie

lilyb84 · 25/07/2015 11:19

Good to hear from you brickie and so sorry you're going through this. Ditto again what others have said - also a little time to yourself if you can get it even just to have a good cry to relieve some of the stress? Trying to cope and hold it together for your DC must be so hard. Sending positive thoughts your way x

Pugmumlondon · 25/07/2015 11:28

Hi all - happy weekend. Finally!

Got my downs result back 1/6900 so quite pleased as a definitive low risk?

I had the most awful experience on the tube last night - some aggressive couple were vile when I explained I was pregnant and couldn't move down any further as I didn't want to be squashed. Had my first ever panic attack. Absolutely terrifying. Thinking I will need to avoid South Ken in future on way home as it's just so awful. Why are people so utterly vile?

brickie so sorry to hear that you are still going through this. Hope you manage to get checked out soon.

lilyb84 · 25/07/2015 11:30

valancy Definitely not cool enough to live in London here Smile We used to live in Dalston but left it to the cooler folk a couple of years ago for the leafy South. Although I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of normal - looking people not in their early twenties last night (not that I was in the hippest of hangouts...).

DH and his brother aren't getting on though - BIL stayed overnight but they were up arguing until nearly 2 and he left without saying goodbye this morning. So painful to watch Shock

lilyb84 · 25/07/2015 11:33

(that wasn't a dig at ppl in their early 20s btw!!)

pug that's horrible, there are some real jerks everywhere but have to say they do tend to converge in certain areas. They're the exception to the people-are-mostly-nice rule though. I hope it was a one-off for you and congrats on the low risk results Smile

Pugmumlondon · 25/07/2015 11:38

Thanks lily it was so scary. Hoping it was a one off but deffo thinking I will avoid South Ken over the school hols it's just bloody awful.

I love living in London just not my commute. We're in almost suburbia in North London though - definitely home of families rather than cool hipsters!

Rubbish re your bil. Awful when families fall out. Hope they make up soon x

lilyb84 · 25/07/2015 11:41

South Ken + school holidays = shudder!!!

Oysterbabe · 25/07/2015 11:47

Just got our downs test results through the post, 1 in 8355. I'm happy with that.
