Welcome tiny. First timer hear too, and its great to talk to others.

Gorgeous crochet maybe. I'm looking forward to finishing this quilt and can then start thinking of making bits for mini fisher. I'm pants at crochet, but I can knit and sew. I have a pattern for a gorgeous unisex cardigan I've made so many times for friends little ones. Can't wait. DH's mum and nan have dug out patterns too and my mum has started a detailed shawl.
She's starting this next:

Too cute.

It's lovely thinking about this stuff after having tense dreams all night about doctors and test results.

BlueEspoir · 12/07/2015 10:20

Welcome tiny - another first timer here too!

I love knitting and have spent the last 15 years practising for my own! Grin I have so many patterns that I have been carefully saving! Only problem is I have a bit of a backlog as lots of friends are having babies this year. Have got 2 more projects to go before I can start knitting for Baby Frenchy. Smile This is a cardi I have just finished for my next door neighbour...

I can't knit to save my life, but when I told my nan I was pregnant she went rushing off to her wardrobe. She came back with a crocheted blanket she made for me when I was born, and another one my other nan had made for my christening. She's kept them in her wardrobe for 23 years for me! They are beautiful. The one she made is squares of White, Red, blue and yellow. The other one is all white, I'll get some pictures next time I go round there.

ValancyJane · 12/07/2015 10:34

I feel a bit rubbish hearing how you're already clearing out rooms and sorting out the junk - I am still so shattered and lethargic I'm struggling to do anything (I haven't cooked or cleaned in weeks, OH is still doing everything bless him, as I'm so blooming tired and having 1-2 naps a day). Really hoping this mythical energy kicks in soon so I can get a move on!! At the moment I'm struggling to get excited about anything, I'm just so tired! Anyone else still feeling generally crap?!

(On the plus side, I got breakfast in bed this morning and two cups of tea, so it's not all bad!)

Welcome tiny - lots of first time Mum's here, don't worry I have no clue either, am making it up as I go along (with the help of google!) Smile

ValancyJane · 12/07/2015 10:35

Oh and loving all the crafty stuff, my Mum is just bursting to start knitting but I'm making her wait until after my scan on Weds. She already has grand plans though!!

tinyme135 · 12/07/2015 10:40

I can't knit to save my life (I'm thinking of learning as ill have a lot of free time soon haha) my nan has already started knitting me stuff well before I even knew I was pregnant. Her excuse is she might not be able to knit when I have kids (she doesn't know I'm pregnant yet).

I'd love to go on holiday, we might be going of my OH parents change their mind on going. A week in Cyprus half board just what I need haha.

It's lovely meeting you all too :) xx

tennisnut123 · 12/07/2015 10:44

Ready - my family are luckily quite nearby so won't need to stay. We are keeping a spare bed for MIL but to be honest I would be wary agreeing to guests unless they are going to be a definite help rather than hinderance! Think we will have to see how we go before inviting guests, depends how hectic/disorganised we are!

mrschatty · 12/07/2015 10:44

Welcome tiny first time mum here too!!
13w today...AGAIN...slightly gutted they've put my dates back but hey ho!!! Cheered myself up today already but buying a COTBED and a DRESSER from mothercare!! The sale is fantastic at the minute- I got the darlington range and for both was under £250!

Juniper44 · 12/07/2015 11:00

Ready can't they stay in a hotel nearby? My pil wanted to stay last time but I said no, and I'm very glad I did. Even having them here all day was stressful and overwhelming. Same goes for my own family- you'll need time to adjust and get settled. I seemed to spend my time running around making cups of tea and sandwiches! Not falling for that one again.

Welcome Tiny Smile

MissMartin10 · 12/07/2015 11:01

mrschatty oh no! how far did they put you back? its so fun buying stuff Grin
i need to sell the current travel system i bought and buy a new one as its a bit too big for me and i don't think it will fit in my boot.. im already in the process of buying a 5 door car as i couldn't cope with my 3 door with a carseat getting in and out the back

Blackandwhitecat3 · 12/07/2015 11:09

Welcome Tiny I'm a first time mum too. Very excited.

Valancy I have done precisely nothing towards clearing out/tidying up, don't worry. Mostly exhaustion as my excuse too. I banned DM from knitting until I hid 12 w but she secretly ignored me, bless.

I'm an avid knitter too - wool arrived for a baby shawl yesterday so want to ditch the wee baby jumper I'm on and get started. I love a new project. Like you, Blue I used to knit for friends's babies but I found that too tough whilst ttc and not getting anywhere so I got a bit selfish. That cardie is v pretty.

Slept til 10.30 this morning, hoping that will mean I'll have a better day today.

Anyone else a bit....ahem...nervous totally bricking it about childbirth?

tinyme135 · 12/07/2015 11:11

That's the one thing I'm dreading is the MIL always being around and probably want to be there when I give birth. I don't want my own mum in the room let alone her.

tinyme135 · 12/07/2015 11:13

I'm scared myself blackandwhitecat. I keep saying I want a water birth but what I've been reading up means you get less pain relief :S I'm a wimp when it comes to pain.

Blackandwhitecat3 · 12/07/2015 11:20

I've been scaring myself by reading some of the childbirth threads. Apparently you're more likely to tear with a water birth as the mw can't see so well to guide the baby out!

Am really stoic with limb/back/headache pain but a total wimp when it comes to internal pain, so I think I need to be ds and signed up for all the drugs. Am terrified though, especially as I'm petite.

tinyme135 · 12/07/2015 11:23

I'm tiny and you can see a small bump coming now, the down point of being skinny lol.

Even with the stories we've read, I still think I want a water birth as I'd feel more comfortable. Just something I need to talk to the midwife about :)

Plus we can be scared together :) x

mrschatty · 12/07/2015 11:24

b&w I'm already investigating perennial massage terrified of tearing!!!!
missmartin put me back 5/6 days edd is now 17th jan!!! How exciting you get a new car too hehe

Blackandwhitecat3 · 12/07/2015 11:31

Mrsc who does the perineal massage? Do you do it yourself? Strange question I know...

MissMartin10 · 12/07/2015 11:31

i really am going to do the perianal massage.. well i say me but i was watching a demo on youtube that your partner can do for you but he's not excited to be doing that! Blush

im going to have a water birth (if possible) just looks like people have less pain in cb videos?

coffeenut · 12/07/2015 11:34

juniper sounds exactly like me. I said no to both my PIL and parents (although my parents didnt actually ask - mum thought it would just be too much). SO glad I did. You're right, it was enough having them over (or wanting to go out doing things with us!) all day every day for two weeks. If my PIL hadn't left every evening around 6pm, I would have been a mess. My parents were more of a help - but I still wouldn't have wanted them to stay, as evenings were my down time with DD1. And you really need downtime with a newborn.

welcome tiny. Glad you are trading in your 3 door missmartin could not imagine trying to cope with a carseat!

I'm a wee bit terrified of childbirth this time around as you never know what might happen - but I'm way more terrified of coping with three young children than anything else!

mrschatty · 12/07/2015 12:06

b&w you can do it yourself or ask your partner to do it - ill let you Google I can't actually bring myself to type what you need to do....x

Phizpop · 12/07/2015 12:07

Welcome tiny, im a first timer too!

Re: house guests, our family are far away too. DH panicked when my mum said she would be up as soon as physically possible to had to clarify to both that if they couldn't visit in the day then they would be staying nearby....

MissMartin10 · 12/07/2015 12:31

im pretty luckly that ALL my family (except my maternal grandparents) only live 15mins away so when they come they only spend a few hours max.. but im really family orientated and love having everyone around me anyway.. one thing i wouldn't want my dad's around for though is breastfeeding.. i think that would be embarrassing even though it's so natural lol

ValancyJane · 12/07/2015 12:51

Black I'm glad it's not just me - I've never been so tired in my life. Nearly summer holidays at least, hopefully daily lie ins will perk me up!!

My Mum and OH's parents all live in our town, so thankfully we won't have any house guests. My Mum said last night she's going to book the two weeks off after my OH's paternity leave runs out, but made it clear she won't be round ours all the time - just wants to be available if I need a hand, which is nice.

I know someone who had a water birth, and was quite put off when I heard that hospital required them to bring their own sieve to fish out any poo!!! I think I decided at that moment that a water birth probably wasn't for me... I'm just trying to just read up on everything and generally go with the flow - childbirth is so unpredictable, I don't want to go in with a set idea. My best friend was adamant she wanted a home birth, unfortunately it didn't go that way and she ended up loosing loads of blood, being blue-lighted to hospital and needing some stitching up in the theater after they got the baby out. She is still really upset about it - and it did sound traumatic though apparently the staff were amazing - but more because she was so utterly set on a home birth at the time she was refusing to even consider the idea of hospital or read up on anything (I tried to gently encourage her at the time, and was just told in no uncertain terms she was having a home birth!). So I'm trying to mentally be prepared for anything!

frozenfairy123 · 12/07/2015 13:25

Welcome tiny xx
Don't worry ftms there are lots of us that can help u! Don't get scared of labour it's not worth your energy, best to focus on learning mediations and good breathing. If u get in the zone your body does the rest. In the great scheme of things it's usually only 1 day if that. I really found my tens machine useful and did hours coping very well with no pain relief cos it was so good. Xxx
