Oohh .Just got my hair cut and coloured. I'm not a girly girl by any stretch but feel so my h better after feeling a bit of a sicky frump for 3 months.

Well done starting to sort ladies! Really will need to "attack" our spare room soon. How do two people gather so much stuff they barely look at? We have already stopped the cat sleeping in there in there though and making the poor bugger stay downstairs in the night with our very young and excitable dog. We thought the sooner the better on that score. Hrs a pretty stubborn diva our moggy.

mrschatty · 11/07/2015 13:56

fish your right need to teach these kitties whose boss we've banned ours from the bedrooms now too- scratched up my lovely cream carpets but hey ho she's used to her own bed now...and tell me about it goodness me I can't believe all the pointless stuff we have and we only bought this place 18m ago before that rented a tiny flat where we were so good about space it's like we've had a stuff explosion

Blackandwhitecat3 · 11/07/2015 14:05

Fortunately we have a big loft Grin

The room that will be the nursery is currently "the cat's room". We haven't quite worked out that one yet, but pretty sure that when a wee wailing nipper gets in there she will vacate it pretty hurriedly!

lilyb84 · 11/07/2015 14:27

So many of you are so organised! We're in a rented 1 bed with 2 cats so there's not a huge amount of planning or organising we can do beyond making a bit of space... We'll be there until May next year at which point fingers crossed we can find something bigger but still affordable in London...!

I don't want to tempt fate but think I'm starting to feel better - could this be the fabled second trimester?!

Hope you're all enjoying the sun Smile

MaybeMrsMum2016 · 11/07/2015 15:42

I've been trying to have a good clear out of the house, especially baby's room, since the BFP. Why oh why does everything seem to have some sentimental value?! Hoarder at heart here, whoops! Blush

I have managed to empty out several drawers from a few different chests of drawers we have. Hopefully I can empty some properly and revamp the old pine. No point buying brand new units when the old ones are still decent Smile

mrschatty · 11/07/2015 16:13

maybe I agree I've cleared our the white ikea wardrobe dh and I were using practically binned everything and was very ruthless thinking 'will I wear this post baby...no...bin' and a gorgeous white book case that was housing all books and dvd and basically loads of tat has been put in the loft/bin I wish I had a garage but then part of me thinks then I'd just have a movement of stuff from house to garage so maybe best I dont- try and avoid loft also unless I know ill want or need something again. Next step buy white cot and changing unit/drawers!!!

MaybeMrsMum2016 · 11/07/2015 16:29

I hope the clearing out gets easier as we start to buy baby items and fill up drawer space. I know I'll need to find more space so if baby needs it, I've got to get rid of things. Need to get into the ruthless zone more often!

There are piles of books, clothes, dvds, etc waiting for a charity bag that will accept them! 3 bags of clothes are all ready and waiting for tuesday's collection!

fishermanswife1 · 11/07/2015 18:07

Well I've decided to make a patchwork quilt for one of my best friends getting married next week as a wedding gift (I thought it would make a more heart felt gift and she understands that we are now in super save mode for mini fisher). Finally seriously cracking on with it this weekend as at last feel I have more energy won't throw up on it. But I did not think about bump logistics. Didn't really appreciate that I had a proper bump coming until bending over, measuring, cutting and sewing. DH's giant captain America pjs clearly the only thing for it!

MissMartin10 · 11/07/2015 18:10

that's a lovley gift idea Fish bet your friend will love it, What craft is it?

I would love to learn to croquet! (dont know how that's spelt)

MaybeMrsMum2016 · 11/07/2015 18:47

MissMartin Do you mean crochet? My mum showed me how to to crochet aaaaages ago (I think she just made up a pattern). I got a few enormous bundles of wool and made a blanket out of them. Just started on my next blanket. May just finish it by the time bambino arrives. Maybe not if I consider how long it took me to make the first one!

MissMartin10 · 11/07/2015 19:38

maybe haha yes! that's what i meant..so cool you can do it!Grin my step mum has her own shop selling crochet baby items like sandles and boots ect for newborns.. i think i may learn so i too can make my baby a blanket Smile

MaybeMrsMum2016 · 11/07/2015 19:44

I've only made the most basic thing imaginable. A 'granny square' that just kept on growing until I ran out of wool. I looked on youtube for a way of finishing off the edge and found a really simple way of doing that.

I'd love to have the patience to make little boots or something but that's a long way off!

MaybeMrsMum2016 · 11/07/2015 19:50

MissMartin The cream-ish one took over a year on and off to make! The other one is work in progress!

crumble74 · 11/07/2015 19:59

Lovely idea fisher, your friends will love it. I've just started stitching a Christmas stocking for DS and I'm also finding the bending over to snip wool a tad cumbersome.

Nice crochet work maybe!

Oh and no fancy pants holidays for us either, it will be UK getaways for the foreseeable future.

MissMartin10 · 11/07/2015 20:24

maybe aww so pretty, Well done Smile the green wool is a really lovley colour

Oysterbabe · 11/07/2015 20:47

Sadly we've used most of our annual leave on the wedding and honeymoon so no holidays for us either!

Just welled up at the nat west ad with the best dad scarf. I'm not an emotional person usually. Hmm

Phizpop · 11/07/2015 22:06

Loving the craft chat! Just told Mil the news by sending a knitting pattern and wool. The jumper I've been making myself (over last 18months) may have to wait till post baby if I don't get it finished soon!!

Oh and we are heading up to Northumberland for our last break away. We mainly stay in the UK, love exploring!

MissMartin10 · 11/07/2015 22:14

phiz cute Smile bet she's really excited.
i would love to go to sherwood forest and stay in a cabin.. dp wants to save the money for the baby instead, Which i don't mind Grin My next holiday won't be until may 2017 for my cousins wedding in the Dominican.. soo long away!

mrschatty · 11/07/2015 22:46

phiz that's lovely!!'

frozenfairy123 · 12/07/2015 07:08

We are moving house soon so I can't start organising a nursery yet. Hopefully we will be in a bit before the 20 week scan and can decorate for a boy or girl?
Love the crafty stuff just no good at it myself! X

Yokyil · 12/07/2015 07:40

Crochet blankets look lovely maybe
On our happy holidays at the minute - not a plane journey away, just a 3.5 hr car journey - and it rained literally alllll day yday Sad I want sun and beaches please!!! But saving for baba just isn't making that feasible Confused
Pains high up in my belly / chest last night must've been some sort of trapped wind, then moved down low to uncomfy uterus pains...the joys!!

tinyme135 · 12/07/2015 08:33

Hi,

I was told that this was a thread for people due in January? I'm due 10/01/16 and 14 weeks today. I'd love to chat to new people who can help me as I'm a first time mum and am absolutely clueless on what to do. My 20 week scan is on 19/8/15 too long of a wait haha.

Looking forward to talking and hearing off everyone. Hope all your pregnancies are going great.

Tiny :) xx

Lookingforadvice123 · 12/07/2015 08:58

Welcome tiny Smile

Also loving the craft talk, I can do the most basic knitting (ie in one straight line) but my mum is a fantastic knitter and will be knitting all sorts for the baby I imagine! I'm determined to do one thing myself though like a hat or little gloves, so will have to get her to teach me properly!

Dh and I are off to Majorca for a week in early September, can't wait! It's an all inclusive lovely looking 4* hotel right on the beach, I usually prefer self catering as I love trying different restaurants every night but we wanted something that was easy and pure relaxation as I'll be

Lookingforadvice123 · 12/07/2015 09:00

Oops pressed post too soon! I'll be 23 weeks by the time we go so just want to chill out!

Already booked our hol for 2016 though, staying in a villa with all of dh's fam for his parent's wedding anniversary, baby will be 7 or almost 7 months by then and it will be nice to have lots of grandparent/auntie/uncle help hehe.

Readyforthefuture · 12/07/2015 09:08

Welcome tiny , you're in good company, there are loads of us who on the way to being first time mums (check out the stats link on page 1), but with plenty of experienced mums with great advice too. This is my first pregnancy and its twins!

Love the craft stuff too, but I don't have the patience, my lovely nan is knitting an entire wardrobe up already though, including a very fine detailed shawl for each of them - she's fab!

Holidays sound great, we've just had our big one for the year, can't see us doing much else now.

Anyone else starting to plan post birth house guests? Our families aren't local so the requests are starting to roll in.
