Blackandwhitecat3 · 06/07/2015 18:09

To continue the discussion on healthy eating, I had two cherry tomatoes with my lunch. Along with the watermelon I had on Saturday, that's the first fruit and veg for nearly a week! Go me.

Lovely picture Kep. Nub in left hand picture is clearly pointing down I sound like I know what I'm talking about

How are you doing MrsFaz?

MissMartin10 · 06/07/2015 18:38

urghh so cant be bothered to go do s full shop now .. but my cupboards are bare Sad

Readyforthefuture · 06/07/2015 19:14

Well done to everyone on scans, amazing results and some beautiful babies on the way.

melon I'm on my 2nd uti so far, one more and they'll send me to the lab ! Sounds ominous!!!

I told work today, my new boss has clearly never been on the receiving end of this kind of news - very shocked and asking me what he should do now. HR were straight on the inappropriate questions, like am I coming back.... And my lovely team, were brilliant, supportive and excited. Glad it's done, and now just looking forward to my nhs scan on Thursday.

melonface · 06/07/2015 19:32

ready sounds like we're on the naughty step! I think mine is caused by glastonbury! What symptoms have you had? I've only had some twinges but let's face it its all cracking off down there so hard to tell what's what!

hotcrossbun83 · 06/07/2015 19:37

I was just sick in the street bringing ds home from nursery Blush

lilyb84 · 06/07/2015 21:00

Oh how horrible hotcross, hope you're feeling better now!

Despite constant nausea I haven't been sick at all (yet) - seeing as I haven't thrown up since I was 17 (and only once in a non-alcohol-related situation...!) I'm not sure if I will at all but for those of you actually being sick, does it in any way make you feel better, as in 'better out than in'? Or do you feel just as awful afterwards? Just curious...

Readyforthefuture · 06/07/2015 21:01

Agree melon, I think the twins are stealing all my fluids, I just can't drink enough. Symptoms wise very uncomfortable, burning!

Oh dear hotcross, my highlight was throwing up in a carrier bag outside the chip shop. The glamour!

hotcrossbun83 · 06/07/2015 21:04

Such glamour!

lily it does make me feel better for a while so I used to almost encourage it if I felt really rough (and was by a loo!) but I've had a bad few days and I'm worried about having to go on a drip, so I'm trying to breathe through it and limit as much as possible!

MissMartin10 · 06/07/2015 21:07

i just feel sick constantly lily wether i throw up or not Sad Your so lucky you've never been sick Grin
ohh no hotcross its not fair is it!

lilyb84 · 06/07/2015 21:10

Oh, rubbish. I hadn't thought of the extra liquid you lose. Thanks for satisfying my curiosity and sorry you're going through it - I'll count myself lucky -although am making up for it at the other end, ahem-!

Readyforthefuture · 06/07/2015 21:19

lily, I'm on team 'better out than in', usually it's most bile and foam (I really don't know what that's about, perhaps I'm half car wash now), and I think that it's a way of getting rid of what's making me feel sick.

BlueEspoir · 06/07/2015 22:11

Hi all. Thrilled to report another happy and healthy scan at my end. BabyBlueEspoir (or Baby Frenchy as it is becoming known - DH is French) is a very wriggly little person with long legs which he/she loves to cross and uncross (same goes for the hands). He/she seemed to enjoy performing for us and we loved every second of it. We've also got a very cute video that I haven't watched over twenty times already! Everything is looking good and screening results were super low so we're very relieved. Have told a few people this evening and am looking forward to telling family, friends and colleagues over the course of the next week or so. My official due date is 13 January (grateful if you could update me next time you're in the spreadsheet Teenie!) - looking forward to planning my maternity leave now! Grin

lilyb84 · 06/07/2015 22:24

Congrats blue! You must be so happy. Was it a private scan (hence the video)? Or are videos available at NHS scans?

BlueEspoir · 06/07/2015 22:34

Lily I am absolutely thrilled - it really makes the last few months (including a MC and then feeling dreadful during the 1st trimester) seem more than worth it. Our scan was very much an NHS scan (e.g. it was 45 minutes later than scheduled!) but for some reason my hospital (St George's in SW London) offers a video as well as photos. Obviously they're not free - £3 per photo and £7 for the DVD. So worth it though - DH and I can't stop having a sneaky peak at the video and we see something new each time we watch it!

Wynsey · 06/07/2015 22:39

Can anyone tell me if my boobs will ever stop hurting??? Confused This is obviously my punishment for not having any MS!!
Thanks to whoever mentioned the Mamas and Papas sale!! My bump is taking some shape!! Can't believe it! So Spent hours looking for maternity trousers and remembered someone saying M&P - got awesome work trousers for £9!!! Hurrah!! Found amazing leggings but the 12s were little too snug on the legs and thought it was a waste - thought I'll order online and only 8s & 10s left! Gutted!!! Hmm
Super jealous of everyone who's had their scan & found out the gender!! 16 days until my scan!! Fx it flies in! Xxx

lilyb84 · 06/07/2015 22:48

So pleased for you blue Smile I'm at King's and don't think they offer videos but will certainly be asking tomorrow at my scan!

wynsey I think I've got away without overly sore boobs but they do hurt when I get up in the morning in particular (guessing this may be why people recommend sleeping in a bra...!). Hope yours aren't painful for too long though - and well done on the M&Ps purchase, £9 is amazing! My New Look trousers were £20...

BlueEspoir · 06/07/2015 22:50

Definitely worth asking Lily! Maybe take a blank DVD along with you just in case! Hope the scan goes well.

MissMartin10 · 06/07/2015 22:56

great news blue so happy for you Grin
as you mentioned maternity leave.. what do you all plan on taking?

-I'm planning to finish 1 month early so on Christmas eve then stay off until the 24th nov.. I'll get full pay for the first 5 months, then statmat for 4 months and then ill just self fund my last 2 months .. but when i go back im dropping down to 25hrs a week but ill have enough holidays to only have to work 13hrs p/w until april Grin

lilyb84 · 06/07/2015 23:01

Thanks blue!

MissM I'm due around 24th Jan and am hoping to work until at least a couple of weeks before then. I should hopefully get the first 18 weeks at 90% pay which is amazing, so am hoping to manage 9 months, of which I'd need to make up my loss of earnings for 4 1/2 (I'm the higher earner by a lot), with a bit of help from accrued annual leave. That's the plan, anyway. I'd love to be off longer but it's just not feasible - and at least I'd be going back not too long before Christmas so there'd be a bit of a holiday round the corner Smile

Blackandwhitecat3 · 06/07/2015 23:03

Wynsey I thinki bought the same trousers! Great scan pic Blue, glad he/she put on a show for you.

Do all babies lie left to right? It just seems that way with all our scans...unless I missed one?

BlueEspoir · 06/07/2015 23:10

My preliminary plan is similar to Lily's. I get 10 weeks at full pay and then a further 16 weeks at half pay before going on to statutory until week 39. I'm also the higher earner by some distance so I expect I will need to go back to work in October/November after 9-10 months (although would really love to take a full year!). Being due in January is great though - it means I'll have the whole spring and summer off and, like Lily says, when I go back Christmas will be around the corner! Planning to work up until New Year if I can, giving me just under 2 weeks of mat leave before due date (although I'm expecting a late baby as it runs in my family). Christmas is usually a quieter time in the office so worth working through if possible.

Blackandwhitecat3 · 06/07/2015 23:14

I'm a teacher, so I'm planning to start my mat leave to join onto the end of the Xmas hols (unless kitten is early). Then prob back for the last week of the summer term in July so that I get paid over the summer (my mat pay is pretty shit). I will need to work two weeks in august, and then back into normal business in Sept.

I'd love to go back part time but DH is not keen.

Blackandwhitecat3 · 06/07/2015 23:16

Ready did you mean HR asked all the inappropriate questions or did they try to clean up after the mess your boss made?

Juniper44 · 06/07/2015 23:43

Blue I had all of my antenatal care at St George's last time, but then we moved house when I was 31 weeks pregnant so transferred to Kingston. Think I would have preferred to stay there as its so big (and they do the umbilical stem cell donor scheme) but the traffic could have been horrendous and I didn't want to risk it!
