Thanks, Rufus. I'm hardly farting since I gave up my 21-eggs-per-week habit a fortnight ago. My mouth tastes like I've been sucking an anti-fracking protester's armpit, though, so no snogging last night.

Mumof1sofar · 27/06/2015 22:42

Yay herewegoagain Smile Welcome & congrats!

Zookeeper73 · 28/06/2015 03:25

Oh wow, so many heartbeats! Congratulations :)

eggsnbeans · 28/06/2015 03:43

Mars - I was the same, early scan put me a week behind my dates, and I knew when I ovulated too! HB was good though and sonographer wasn't concerned, but like you I'm just keeping everything crossed until 12w and hope for the best!

elephantfeet · 28/06/2015 07:38

Congratulations to everyone having happy heartbeat scans!

We have finally moved house Smile

elephantfeet · 28/06/2015 07:42

Mars the same happened to me, DP works away a lot and was away for most of April and May so I was fairly certain of dates as well, went for scan thinking I was 8 weeks and they put it to "somewhere between 6 and 7". Miracle baby here too!

LillianMakesAMinion · 28/06/2015 09:51

congratulations to the little HBs and those with scans in the next couple of weeks! Myself I'm still waiting for that letter to come in the mail.

7+7 weeks besides the horrid bloat and wind, my nipples getting dark and huge overnight and slight cramping (like something is doing renovations in there) I'm feeling generally happier and less worried this week.

until...

I clicked into the threads in the Childbirth section out of curiosity... well the curiosity is well and truly is killing the cat. DEAR GOD some of the horror stories!! Happy place, happy place, happy place...

twinsandapenguin · 28/06/2015 10:52

Lillian it is often the worst case stories that post there so please don't let it scare you. With dd I went from nothing to baby in 7 hours with no real problems so it is not all bad news.

twinsandapenguin · 28/06/2015 10:52

(Dd was my first)

Marsaday · 28/06/2015 11:14

Lilian i went from nothing to baby in 45 mins. No pain relief except tens machine as paramedics didn't arrive until head was crowning . No stiches, me fine, baby fine. Bathroom towels not so fine... Grin

Marsaday · 28/06/2015 11:25

Re measuring behind, thanks for trying to reassure ladies. Problem is i know that the dates sonographer gave are completely impossible, it would mean i got bfp the 2 days after i conceived.
I'm thinking of going to gp tomorrow and asking them to refer to Epu to get a better idea. At least they would be honest about the measurements and could also check heart rate to get clearer picture. Am i being ridiculous?

I was so happy to see my.bean with a heart flicker, then she told me the measurements and my heart just sank. Now i just can't shake the feeling that something is wrong. Sad

LillianMakesAMinion · 28/06/2015 11:25

thanks marsaday and twinsandapenguin - nice to see there are some positive birth experiences out there! Especially since it is way too early for me to be worrying about it.

I'm trying to be positive and visualise the end goal which is to bring my little minion into the world.

Postnatal care seems to be hit and miss too so I'd love to either win the lottery and be able to drop the £ on private or have minimal complications so bub and I can recover in the comfort of our own home and not have to try to bunk with 6 other mums and bubs plus having a communal bathroom (sounds like a hostel situation to me!) - i would want to be out of there right after the birth if i could!

LillianMakesAMinion · 28/06/2015 11:29

marsaday do you have a longer cycle than the usual 28? Mine is normally 31-32 days and I find it throws the calculations off a bit.

haquoi123 · 28/06/2015 11:47

mars I'd ignore their calculations. If you know when you ovulated, then that's it. There's nothing the epu can do about it and at this point they don't date you properly for a reason. A week won't make much difference at this point in terms of bubba's health. Like i said, I'm three weeks out and it makes no sense, but we don't know for sure until 12 weeks, and even then it's still a guess. With DS I was out backwards and forwards at each scan, it changes all the time.

haquoi123 · 28/06/2015 11:48

And eurgh, hayfever mixed with pregnancy nose bleeds :( I don't usually get hayfever, could baby have something to do with it?

OMG I'm 6+2 and just about survived morning sickness that struck for the first time yesterday!! On holiday with DH in New York, today is his 30th birthday. I felt like I had an enormous hangover ALL day. Banging headache. I had to leave the restaurant without eating and go to bed. Flying back to UK today!! Dreading the flight.

Any remedy recommendations. Not sure how I'll live with the for 6 more weeks!!! Hmm

HerewegoagainRound4 · 28/06/2015 12:23

When I had bad nausea with dc3 I used travel bands. Literally had them on 24/7!

Marsaday · 28/06/2015 12:56

I've bought travel bands. I thought they were making a difference , but was wearing them all day Friday , and had the worst day yet for nausea . Think perhaps they help to a point but when it's really bad lying down and nibbling something savoury is the only thing that quells it.

purdiepipesup · 28/06/2015 13:09

Childbirth, for the majority of women, is the most excruciating pain you will ever know. As soon as you can make peace with that, the better. It's only several hours and you won't die. Labour was never meant to be some hypno-painless, relaxing pleasure. Those experiences are not the norm, so just go with it and expect it to get really, really tough.

raviolig · 28/06/2015 13:16

Morning everyone!
I am really struggling today. Had a horrible day yesterday. All I wanted to do was rest after a busy day on Friday. Relaxing when dd comes in and says "there is a mess in the kitchen". Water coming through the ceiling and the light in the kitchen. Run upstairs, the toilet has leaked, flooded the whole floor. Took me ages to figure out how to stop the water, then had to clean it all up. Toilet flooded, oven flooded, kitchen floor flooded. Phoned landlord agent to get an emergency plumber out. Eventually she phones me back says no they can't find anyone. I can get someone myself. Got someone who is back now but problems fixing it. I woke up with a stinking headache, probably from the stress. I feel so nauseous and my head is killing me. The toilet is finally fixed (stopped halfway through writing this!) which is such a relief as I feel like I am going to start throwing up and I had visions of no flushing toilet and sick being a disaster! Relieved now that the toilet is fixed but not had a chance to relax and ended up with an extra trip to the shops (to get stuff to fix it), which as I don't drive meant walking, then on my hands and knees trying to clear up all the water! Midwife appt this week, at least that to look forward to!!

Raaaaaah · 28/06/2015 13:48

Oh Raviolog. What a nightmare!

Very busy day out for DS's birthday yesterday at Go ape. Completely felled today.

Thanks all of the recomendations for scan appt. I am having second thoughts now after Mars experience. With both my pregnancies I have been dated oddly and both have been fine. Not sure I fancy any more worrying.

For what it's worth DD's birth was as straight forward as possible. Yes it was painful but it always felt doable and not frightening. DS (my first) was a little tougher but again nothing terribly dramatic. My mum had me in a strangers house on the way to hospital and had just finished putting the local playgroup equipment away! As I say a stoic soul Grin.

Marsaday · 28/06/2015 14:12

Sorry raaaaaah i should have kept my mouth shut.
Don't be put off because of me. I think I'm just a worrier by nature, especially with something where i have no control over the outcome.

twinsandapenguin · 28/06/2015 14:17

I wasn't for a moment attempting to describe my labour as painless. Just that it was quick, complication free, and manageable. It is not all about the horror stories out there

HerewegoagainRound4 · 28/06/2015 14:40

My first labour was 7 hrs, second was 5 and third was 53 minutes. Each time I have been progressively calmer and it really does help. Yes it's painful, but it's a doable pain and mind over matter definitely helps.
