Oh no absb I didn't think they let you go that far over! I would have been pushing for an earlier date. And what a shame about your dh, was that his paternity leave or just holidays? I can't imagine how it must feel.

My dp still has another week left and then it's bank holiday weekend so he's not back till 1st September. He's getting cabin fever though even though we have actually made it out of the house plenty of times even when I didn't want to. But every evening recently dd has wanted to constantly breastfeed so I can't go anywhere. And my poor nips are suffering because of it. I'm holding out for when it apparently gets easier and better but right now it's getting worse.

Equimum do u have a plan for induction if things don't kick off soon? What was your first birth like with your ds?

Dozygirl · 22/08/2015 23:36

Joskar glad the movements have improved but do go in if u still don't feel right.

Equimum · 23/08/2015 06:54

I am glad baby's movements picked up a bit yesterday. Hopefully he'll be nice and active today, but do definitely go in is you have any worries. Hopefully the scan tomorrow will be reassuring. Your DH working do far away is bound to prompt labour Grin. I was sure baby was going to arrive when my DH went abroad at 37 weeks (a bit optimistic from the baby eviction perspective I now realise!).

Dozy, it's good that your DH has a fair but of leave and gets the bank holiday on the end. I think men sometimes see paternity leave as a 'holiday' and don't quite get it's purpose. That early cluster feeding really is a challenge. You are doing such a great job, though, and if it's what you want, longer term it will get easier as feeding gets fully established. Does DH help with the bottles? (I think it was you who mentioned the odd top- up yesterday? Sorry if not). Oh, and do you have Lansinoh cream. I found that, and refrigerating breast pads, worked a treat for me.

Yes, I am booked for induction of Thursday. DS was spontaneous labour and born at 40+6, although I had a few problems. I'm getting scared now, though, as I was reluctant to try another vaginal birth due to a couple of continued problems from first time round. When I asked about the increased risks of re-injury if it came to induction, they casually said it was rare to need an induction if you didn't get that far the first time and dismissed my concerns. Stupidly, I accepted that. I am now really regretting my decision and getting very scared about giving birth, with or without induction.

Joskar, I would almost certainly have forgotten a bag for DS too. Unfortunately I don't have any relatives near-by so we 'veg had to accept someone coming to the house to look after him. I guess I'll be doing the early stages in my bedroom for a bit of privacy, if I ever get there.

How are you today Frolic? I hope your migraine has completely gone.

Joskar · 23/08/2015 07:28

Totally second the lansinoh advice. Magic stuff. I used after every feed for months. Also biological nurturing for better attachment. Attachment is the thing that makes the biggest difference to your nipples. If you continue with a bad latch and "feed through it" you can end up with bleeding nipples and that is not fun. The cluster feeding is brutal. It gets so much easier though. Have you a bf support group nearby?

The Ina May book really helped me conquer some of my fears about giving birth. I got a copy from the library. Well worth reading.

I had the most powerful dream last night that I was in labour. So disappointed when I woke up!

Frolicacid · 23/08/2015 14:31

Welcome back Abs. 42 Weeks? OMG! I'm crawling the walls at 40+2. Good luck with the sweep and / or induction.

Has it cooled down for you yet equimum. We've had two days of pouring rain, but it's incredibly stuffy. I'm so sweaty and gross.
Probably easy for me to say, but try not to worry about the birth. There is nothing to say that this one will be like the last one. You also have plenty of time to go into spontaneous labour before thursday.

Thanks for that about the maternity pay dozy. Hopefully it will be more in coming months. I'll phone work tomorrow and get them to post my payslip so I have a better idea of what's going on.
I'm very envious of your new born cuddles. Don't worry at all about giving her the bottle. Whatever works for you two is best for you. I hope your nips feel better soon.

Glad that your movements picked Jockstar. Is it tomorrow you have the scan? I'm sure that a labour dream is a good omen. I get so disappointed now when I wake up in the night and it's just because I need a wee and not because I'm in labour.

Thank you all for your kind words about my migraine. It was bloody horrendous. It's only cleared up properly this morning. I'm really hoping it's a sign of something changing in my hormones, but i still haven't had a twinge. Baby hasn't engaged either.
I spent all day yesterday on the sofa and unable to do much. It definitely makes me miserable when I can't keep busy. Today I have done loads of tidying and organising around the house and I'm going to drag DH out now to do a massive shop. I've emptied and defrosted the freezer to make room for some batch cooking ready meals.

I can't log in at all from my phone at the moment. I'm assuming it's something to do with this hacker / password change malarkey. It works fine from my laptop for some reason.

Have a good sunday everyone Smile

AbsB · 23/08/2015 15:32

So just back from sweep! I'm 3cm dilated and everything soft so hoping things will start happening soon. Baby happy. Just had row with DH as he wants me to be induced tomorrow. I want to give labour a chance to kick off before having a hospital birth. We are hoping to birth at home but he's thinking about his work schedule, which annoys me. We are having the 'it's my baby/ it's my body' row! Confused

Dozygirl · 23/08/2015 16:19

Equimum you're right about dp thinking paternity leave is a holiday. He says he's got cabin fever and wants to be out even though we have ventured out a fair bit considering. Thanks for the tips on nipple soreness. I've got a great breastfeeding counsellor who I might get in touch with again soon if it doesn't improve. I've tried air drying and lanisoh cream and vaseline. We're using nipple shields because of latch issues but they've not helped the soreness. I've got an appointment for tongue tie on Tuesday so that might make a difference. I didn't have a problem with occasional bottles but now because we're going out and about more she ends up having more bottles with my expressed milk and it's not really what i want. I'd rather be at home trying to feed her constantly even if it hurts. It's quite upsetting when u see them taking a bottle so much easier and being more settled afterwards. If it was down to dp he'd say just give up but I know I wanna carry on and I know it'll get easier so that's what's helping me carry on. I'm not sure how I'm gonna manage it in public just yet though. I bought a breastfeeding cover but I just feel claustrophobic under it and I can't see what I'm doing even though you're supposed to be able to. My big boobs aren't easy to cover up heehee.

Abs I hope things start moving for u soon. I couldn't do what you're doing.

Fanby · 23/08/2015 20:12

Hello hello! I feel like i've missed so much! Molly is finally snoozing in her pushchair bassinet (still no joy with moses basket) so i'm using the time to have a good old catch up! Still no more babies?! C'mon girls, get them out!!
Midwife came today, Molly is only 15g off her birthweight now so i'm SUPER relieved as i've been solely breastfeeding and with the pain worried that it may have all been for 'nothing'. Sleep deprivation is definitely kicking in. Can't believe how quick the first week has gone. I've asked DH not to book in any visitors for next week as i'm knackered and I just want to enjoy the last week of his paternity – he seems a bit in a grump about this but doesn't realise how exhausting it is. He's semi ignored me, as my mum came on Friday, his mum is now coming on Tuesday and more of his friends on Wednesday...

How's the new house Lily? Are you really happy to be in finally? Kudos to you for moving with a newborn!!

AbsB: Hurrah for the sweep! Things surely must kick in now!! DH HAS to do what you say, you're the one pushing!!

Equimum: How are you feeling today? Sorry to hear you've been tearful :( Hope you're doing ok and some twinges have started!
I'm totally putting some breastpads in the fridge – what a great idea!!

Frolicacid: How have the migraines been in the heat? I hope you've been resting!

Joskar: How have your movements been? Any increase? I hope your scan goes well tomorrow

AbsB · 23/08/2015 21:47

Thank you Fanby. Is Molly your first DC? Definitely keep visitors at bay, much more important for you to catch up on sleep, and spend precious time together as a family.
DH seems to have calmed down a bit and made a nice supper.
Poor DD is having a breakdown about this baby and it's making me feel so guilty. She has been waiting so long... I really hope it comes soon for all our sakes!!! Fingers crossed the sweep has worked and we can meet our LO! Have a good night everyone. Cabbage leaves in the bra are a great soother for sore boobs! !Wink

Dozygirl · 23/08/2015 21:58

Fanby I need some more discipline re:visitors. When people ask I just say yes so we haven't had a day to ourselves yet. Most people ask me rather than dp too so it is all my fault.

Definitely need to try the cabbage leaves or cold breast pad. Just tried rugby ball position and that seems a bit more comfortable.

Galaxy2014 · 24/08/2015 14:36

Hi ladies,

Sorry been really quiet - the whole mumsnet hack thing slowed me with reseting my password (got fustrated trying to do it on my phone!) Then baby Jack wanted to arrive in to the world so had my hands full! Smile

Hows everyone doing? Anyone feeling anymore twinges? Thinking happy labour thoughts for you all.

x

Equimum · 25/08/2015 13:21

Congratulations Galaxy. I hope you are both well and enjoying these early days.

AbsB, I hope you managed to get what you wanted regarding the induction. Sorry your DH wasn't very understanding if your needs. I also hope your little girl is doing okay. I thought DS was too young to understand, but unfortunately our increasing stress seems to be affecting him and he is being both clingy and having lots if tantrums.

Fanby, sorry to hear that sleep deprivation has hit you. Try to get whatever rest you can. Gosh, the whole visitors thing is so difficult isn't it. Can you suggest to DH that it might be useful if visitors came knce he was back at work (if you think they might be), or to block out next week, once he is at work, for you to focus on establishing feeding, rest and getting to know Molly better.

I'm wondering if any more babies have arrived during the zone-out? if not, I hope everyone else who is still waiting is coping okay.

I've been having a few massive meltdowns. DH seemed to decide we needed another huge induction feat on Subday, we walked round a shopping centre, then round a country park. In the evening he cooked a really spicy dinner, then tried some more 'stimulation', before feeding me more pineapple. Safe to say, I just ended up stiff an sore again! I have now booked an appointment with an alternative therapist for tomorrow, so have everything crossed that that helps before we reach the point of medical induction.

Frolicacid · 25/08/2015 17:04

Oh, bloody hell! Just lost a big post.

The gist of it was congratulations to galaxy and I hope everyone else is ok?

My waters have gone since 1am. No contractions at all yet. So much water though. Back in the morning for induction if nothing has started by then. Trying to bounce or stay upright, but the floods of water are making it uncomfortable. I've just tried a clary sage bath as that's what I had last night.
Send me lots of lovely labour vibes? Smile

Galaxy2014 · 25/08/2015 17:40

Yay Frolic!
I know keeping upright is not fun when waters break as I know I constantly felt I was peeing! However I bet something gets going tonight. (I bet you won't need the induction)

Will tell my labour story at some point tonight whilst doing a feed.

Thinking positive thoughts to you xx

Equimum · 25/08/2015 17:41

Yay Frolic, not long until you meet your little one now. I hope things kick off in the next few hours, but if not, good luck for tomorrow. Smile

Looks like I'm going to be left here on my own Sad

Fanby · 25/08/2015 17:47

Grrr Mumsnet hack is getting on my nerves!! We've had a few more trips out and about. Molly is now registered at the GP's and we have an appointment booked to register her birth (first appointment is in a months time!!!).

MIL has just been for a visit. Molly was crying and she wouldn't hand her back. I tried hinting saying she needed feeding (I'm solely bf) and she said 'no it's wind' I eventually got her back, put her straight on the boob and she was fine. It was so awkward :(.

On a more positive note molly had the best night sleep!! We were amazing lol. Unfortunately she's proper sleepy baby today which will no doubt mean we'll be up all night....

Congratulations on baby jack Galaxy!! Hope you're all doing really well!!

Frolic!!! Sending you massive pain free contractions and dilating thoughts!! All very exciting, baby is EN ROUTE, hurrah!!

How you doing equimum? You sound like you are trying EVERYTHING to get baby out, I hope it's not too much longer for you!

Frolicacid · 25/08/2015 21:24

Looking forward to hearing your labour story galaxy.

You won't be long now equimum. You could still beat me to it if things get going. And as if we'd leave you alone Smile

Your mil sounds a bit of a nightmare fanby. Fancy not giving a breastfed baby back to her mother. I would be quite reluctant to hand her over for cuddles again and would tell her why.
My mil is super excited - I can already tell she's going to do my head in when he's here. She goes away for work for 2 weeks next week, so that will give us some breathing space thank god.
Well done Molly on a good night's sleep.

Not much to report here. Had a bit of a nap and can't stop eating. I'm getting some period and back pain, but nothing that feels serious. Spending a lot of time on the ball, but I think I may just pack it in and go to bed in the hope that the night brings contractions.
Hopefully mumsnet won't be down again if I need it tonight.

Dozygirl · 25/08/2015 21:33

Ooh frolic so exciting! !! Hope things are starting up for you naturally. I'm sort of jealous i never got to experience my waters going etc. They just keep on coming and coming don't they.

Equimum don't worry we'll all be sticking around till the end to cheer you on. Are u over due now?

Fanby isn't it annoying when people think they can settle them when it's so obvious they need feeding! I'm still having difficulties with the feeding but I'll keep on persevering. Sometimes I feel like there's not enough time in the day and also it goes really really quickly so before you know it their next feed is due. We out at hospital today and I took her into work while we were there so I just expressed before going and had to wake her for it.
We're registering piper tomorrow. Can'twait for it to be all official. For some reason I thought you couldn't register at gp until registered the birth but obv that not true haha.

Congratulation Galaxy on the birth of jack. Looking forward to hearing your story. I love a good birth story.

Iwishicouldflyfarfaraway · 25/08/2015 23:04

Hi all, wow a lot has happened in the last few days whilst being unable to get on ...I thought it was my phone signal.

Baby Iwish made a very dramatic appearance after a weekend of stop start contractions , unfortunately due to some concerns we are being kept in which means he has very disappointed siblings at home .

Congratulations galaxy on baby jack :)
frolic I hope when you see this you are enjoying a newborn snuggle with tea and toast.
equimum I feel for you I was so uncomfortable sending positive labour vibes to you .

Good luck to everyone else still waiting.

Equimum · 25/08/2015 23:29

Congratulations Iwish. I hope you get to oh home soon.

That sounds promising Frolic. I hope you get done rest and then, by the time you read this, baby Frolic has arrived of it's (his?) own accord.

Fanby, what a nightmare. Can you get DH to have a word with your MIL? Frolic, it sounds like you have timed labour well with regards to your MIL. I too have one who is a complete pain, but my mum is just as bad!

Yes Dozy, I am now 10 days overdue! All a new experience as I had delivered DS by this stage. I hope you enjoy registering Piper tomorrow.

Frolicacid · 26/08/2015 06:41

I can't quite believe how much water keeps coming dozy! I had a few comedy moments when they first went with it just pouring out.
Enjoy registering little Piper today.

Congratulations iwish! Welcome to the world little one. I hope you are both ok and that you get to go home soon.

How are you doing equimum? Crossing everything that things have got going for you overnight or do so really soon.

Nothing happend to me overnight. I had a few promising back pains late last night, but they didn't ramp up. I've actually managed quite a good sleep. At least I'll have plenty of energy for the induction I suppose.
I'm anticipating a long and boring day on the ward. Will try to keep you posted.

Equimum · 26/08/2015 06:57

Good luck today Frolic. Being rested will help you so much. Wishing you a smooth and comfortably fast labour. Just keep your thoughts on the end result and you'll soon be snuggling your baby. I can't wait to hear your good news.

Galaxy2014 · 26/08/2015 09:30

Good luck today Frolic - they may just access and see how you get on without having an induction.

So this is my labour story...
Last Thurs at 4am I felt this huge kick - really random as never felt anything like it from Jack (didn't hurt) whilst in bed, then soon realised it was my waters that had broken. Mad panic to the bathroom with loads of tissue and just couldn't believe how much comes out (then keeps coming out all day!!) I then had mild period cramps throughout most of the day. Had to go to the birth centre in morning so they can see the water to make sure all ok - they booked me in for an induction the following day. (Some areas wait 48 hours but mine wait 24 hours)

So went home and pottered about. Best mate had seen us drive to the birth centre so she was v excited and kept me entertained by texts. Hubby told my mum and they were texting leaving me to it - no one else knew so that was good.

So in the evening everything ramped up. Contractions got quicker and more painful. Went back to the birth centre for 9:30pm only to be told I was 1cm dilated and would need to go home. Angry

Went home and OMG the contractions came thick and fast. Had two paracetamol which does nothing. Never felt anything like it. Hubby was a god send and made me breath correctly through it all. We eventually got back to the birth centre for half midnight (my fault for the slowness as first I couldn't get in the car then I kept making him stop the car when a contraction hit)

Got to the birth centre, literally crawled on to the bed still fully dressed and demanded I needed to push. Only one midwife there so they were calling others to come in. Eventually she managed to check me and I was fully dilated. I did want a water birth but by that time I didn't care and she was worried as the bath wasn't ready. I wanted pain relief of any sort but they couldn't find the mouth piece for gas n air - argument started with hubby and mw as she didn't want to leave the room (I had no idea as was just in pain) However half hour later Jack popped out, gas n air eventually given to me when I was pushing him out so I've no idea if it did anything other than it was something for me to bite down LOL
However proud of myself I did it basically on no pain relief at all Smile Only thing I found random is my legs were shaking so hard afterwards - shock and hormones but didn't care at that point as I had Jack in my arms. Such an amazing feeling.

Today we have the heel prick test so he won't be impressed with that. He doesn't like being naked - gets himself in a right fuss about it.

Hope everyone is doing ok and thinking positive labour / water breaking thoughts for everyone. I've no tips as to what brings it on - hubby thinks sex but that's men for you lol

Frolicacid · 26/08/2015 09:40

Thanks for the good lucks!

I'm going straight on the drip. Just waiting for them to start. Fucking hell ....... Here we go ............. Grin

Iwishicouldflyfarfaraway · 26/08/2015 10:33

Fingers crossed the drip works quickly for you frolic

equimum when will they start inducing you if you don't go in to labour spontaneously? I'm sure you have mentioned before I just can't see on the previous posts .

galaxy sounds like you had a positive birth experience in the end .
