Anybody else out there??! Just got my faint BFP on a first response test! Only 9DPO so shouldn't really have tested - I told myself I wouldn't till I missed my period! - but was just feeling very pregnant. My due date is showing as 1st March. This would be number 2 for me, I already have a little girl, 20 months. Only symptoms so far are very sore boobs and a snuffy nose first thing in the morning!

Hi ray and congratulations!

I hadn't even thought about trying to plan birthdays! I can definitely see the benefits of a spring baby over a winter baby though. My DD was May and that was lovely, lots of sunny walks with a newborn and not always having to put hundreds of layers on.

Welcome Ray!

Booking appointment 27th July here. Bump is called Tad at the moment, as in tadpole. DD was Trevor, so this ones doing better already!

marmitemofo · 10/07/2015 10:31

welcome newbies!

we also didn't choose the b'day for this baby though DP always wanted a September baby for DD who was born in November. This time round we started TTC in March and it's been a few cycles of trying but I'm glad we ended up with a Spring baby.

mrsrsw the booking in appointment (if it is still like it was 2 years ago when I had DD), is basically an hour or so of going through your medical history, your DP/DH's medical history, then giving you info on booking in your 12/13 week scan.

RM82 · 10/07/2015 10:38

Love the bump name Trevor smallbird Grin

I am lucky I will get a 5 week scan as I've been on Clomid, before Fertility pass my files down to Maternity - I don't think I could bear the wait for a later one - not that there will be a lot to see, but will still put my mind at rest.

Hubby doesn't believe it, and won't until it's confirmed at the clinic x

JoannaZZ · 10/07/2015 11:07

Me624 I was also hoping for symptoms a few days ago as I wasn't feeling anything, then yesterday when I was lying on the sofa feeling really sick my boyfriend said something along the lines of "you should be happy, this is how you wanted to feel". My nausea is fairly mild so can't complain, but now I'm hoping it doesn't get much worse Hmm

shieldbug · 10/07/2015 11:54

Embolio Lisburn here! I'm also originally from England (came over here when I got married) and have been here 8 years so far.

My symptoms keep coming and going, but I'm pretty sure that's what I remember from ds1 and ds2. I'm so tired though, which I only suffered with ds1 previously. Maybe it's an age thing (I'm nearly 42)- any other geriatrics on this thread?!

maybebabybee · 10/07/2015 11:57

welcome all newbies :)

I've had vague queasiness on and off but seem to be ok today. Feeling like it might hit at the 6 week mark. I'm 4+5 today so let's see how I feel in a week....

I MC at 5+5 last time so if I can only get past that point I'll feel a bit better about everything, even though I know that doesn't mean anything.

treehousethunderstorm · 10/07/2015 12:16

Hi everyone

Can I join in? TTC #1 for 9 months and still trying to come to terms with whether its all real. LMP would make me 5 weeks today but with cycles varying between 30-36 days the NHS website says that I am 4 weeks with an EDD of 16th March.

I have booked appointment with GP next week, is this right or do some people go straight to contact with midwife?

Just feeling bloated with light cramps and hip twinges.

tree I have been told to go straight to midwife, rang GP on Tuesday after BFP and they said I just needed to pop in and fill in a 'pregnancy pack' and then was booked in from there Smile

Can't quite believe I've only known for 3 days, feels like the next 8 weeks are going to drag like hell!

SoozeyHoozey · 10/07/2015 12:37

Anyone else suffering with extreme fatigue and nausea? It's awful!

treehousethunderstorm · 10/07/2015 12:48

Thanks QforCucumber I have just telephoned the surgery to check and the receptionist said that I definitely need an appointment with GP before I can be referred to antenatal at the hospital. I guess every place is different!

Me624 · 10/07/2015 13:10

I looked on my gp's website and it said the midwife comes every Monday so I could just ring the normal appointments line and book to see her, the receptionist filled in a 'notification of pregnancy' form over the phone. She also told me to pop in and pick up an antenatal pack but I haven't had time and I think I'll just get it at my booking in appointment!

Having said that I had no symptoms I had half an hour this morning of feeling really queasy. To be honest though it came not long after I ate a cookie so it could have just been that!

I don't feel any more tired than normal yet, but it's still very early days.

Me624 · 10/07/2015 13:12

Anyone else paranoid about people finding out too - I'm doing all my mn-ing from my phone rather than my work pc! And I'm supposed to be at work drinks next week where I have a bit of a reputation for being a drinker, so I've sort of laid the foundations today by telling my colleagues that I'm going on a detox before my holiday next month and so won't be drinking next week!

QforCucumber · 10/07/2015 13:38

me yup - DP is best man at a wedding before our 12 or even 8 week dates so somehow going to have to feign illness and be designated driver.

I don't think I'll get away with the work one though, I've been looking up all of our maternity policies to work out when I'll have to return after mat leave already haha!

smallbird · 10/07/2015 13:57

Welcome tree!

It's really weird how different all our booking in methods are.

I'm 6+4 today and the nausea is getting worse. Nearly threw up on a bus this morning.

I'm also convinced someone will figure it out. My not drinking excuses are weak at best. My worst was "its too hot for alcohol". Seriously, who's going to believe that!

I like that you've looked up the maternity policy Q, nothing like being prepared! I hated maternity leave before my baby arrived last time round so I'll be trying to have as little as possible before the birth.

QforCucumber · 10/07/2015 14:02

I'm having a quiet work day today,so have figured if due date is 14th March, I can take annual leave from 1st - 14th,
then ML from due date to end Nov,
Remaining Annual leave to cover December and then back to work after the Xmas break ha ha.
(our holidays run Jan to December) nothing like being prepared Smile

RM82 · 10/07/2015 14:04

I am the same Me624 I have a bit of a reputation of being a party animal, I have a BBQ tomorrow - so have used the 'I'm on medication' excuse already - I then have 2 x hen do's (within 2 weeks of each other) all the same group of friends - followed by one of the weddings 3 weeks after that. All within the first 12 weeks!

They will suss me out at the Hen do's for sure! No way would I not drink normally :/

smallbird · 10/07/2015 14:23

Worth knowing Q that in most places they'll put you into maternity leave from the point you give birth rather than the date you state if the date is after you give birth, even if you're on annual leave. So if you give birth early you'll be on maternity leave early iyswim? Is the 14th your due date?

I went four days over last time and went on mat leave the day before my due date. I work in a very male-dominated field and was terrifying everyone with the risk of going into labour while working.

dobbythedoggy · 10/07/2015 14:27

snoozey if I could all I would do is sleep at the moment. Exhausted doesn't cover it. Nausea is horriable, I actually prefure being sick because it gives a little rest bite. Hoping that it will ease a little if I can get more rest with dh home more over the weekend. The first couple of months I was pregnant with dd I was sleeping 17+ hours 3 days a week.

me I'm really worried about dd dropping me in it. She loves babies has been clutching the booklet I've been given on antinatal and new born testing since I brought it home. If dh can't manage to have her again next week she's going to need preparing for it and I just know she'll say something! She's only 2.7 so can't even be bribed into keeping a secret/suprise.

QforCucumber · 10/07/2015 14:33

Only from nhs calculators - 14th will be die date based on those, I'm only looking at hypothetical at the min as like you I'm in a very male dominated industry and will be the first ever person at the company to go on mat leave haha - I figure if I go in with a plan of action then they won't question me :)

smallbird · 10/07/2015 14:39

Sounds really cute dobby, but yeah at massive risk of dropping you in it. My DD is properly jealous of other babies unfortunately. Hoping she grows out of that one a bit.

I was the second ever to go on mat leave Q, and the first to return from it as the first is now a SAHM. I have to say though my organisation has dealt with it really well and gone above and beyond to make sure I had pregnancy adjustments made and was supported with coming back. I sometimes bring DD in and she's adored by all the tough middle aged men.

When are you all planning to tell your workplaces? I'll have to say something soon as I'll need adjustments to my job so I want to give them lots of time to prep. Last time I told my manager at 7 weeks.

TheMshipIsBack · 10/07/2015 14:43

Please add me to the list. I'm 36, due 6 March (5w6d today), baby number 2. I have a DS age 3. Sore boobs since before BFP, and the nausea started two days ago. Luckily it's only intermittent so far, but just like last time it's mostly late in the day and makes it hard to get to sleep.

LazyDaisy99 · 10/07/2015 15:18

Please can I be added to the list too? I'm 4+3, due 15 March, baby #1, fingers crossed to us all for a smooth uneventful time between now and March xx
