charlotte it will come and go. With DD I wasn't sick at all, didn't believe I was really pregnant until my 12 week scan (she is now almost 6) with DS I was really sick from the word go until about 15 weeks (he's now 14 months) with this one I have good and bad days with the feeling sick. Being sick isn't always a sign of how well the pregnancy is going. Please try not to let it worry you. But do flag up to your HCP the way you are feeling. It'll be okay Flowers

haquoi123 · 21/06/2015 09:33

charlotte I can completely understand why you're anxious. I really think you should contact the midwives - how far along are you now? Don't wait until 12 weeks - they want to see you around 7 or 8 and they are a good support system. Especially with the diabetes.

I've seen my gp about anxiety and ptsd and she's been great - but I've had to search around for her. Don't take no for an answer, they can refer you to counselling and if your GP didn't help, see another one until you get a good fit.

You can also have a few counselling second privately. Another thing that completely revolutionised my life was reflexology. I've had a couple of sessions since being pregnant (it's safe but find one who specialises in maternity) and she helped change my way of thinking.

In the meantime, try to take it a day at a time. I personally think you should be able to put your fears up here, because it's what we're here for, but if not do you have anyone else you can talk to? Is it worth telling one person who can be there for you?

SweetCharlotteRose · 21/06/2015 09:45

I'm 7 weeks today.
I could look into private counselling I guess.

SweetCharlotteRose · 21/06/2015 09:45

Thank you for the support Flowers
I am pretty alone irl.

WouldRatherHaveCake · 21/06/2015 09:50

Well its a good job we all have each other!

haquoi123 · 21/06/2015 09:50

I think it's worthwhile, really do. Anyway, that's what we're here for :) xxx

LazyRohazy · 21/06/2015 10:01

I totally get the anxiety. I've had 3 miscarriages in total (mmc then had DD then mmc then mc) and even at 4+4 every symptom fluctuation makes me worry. I'm getting an NHS scan at 6-7 weeks this time because of history so am just trying to stay calm until then. Flowers for you charlotte. My area has a team of perinatal counsellors that have been amazing with my anxieties over the last couple of years. Maybe ask your GP if yours has one?

On previous labours, my DD was reasonably quick: 9 hours from very first twinge to babe in arms. 4 hours was established labour, pushing 20 mins.

SmashleyHop · 21/06/2015 10:24

Had my own slight anxiety inducing moment yesterday. Around dinner time I had a slight brown tinged discharge after I wiped. I spent the rest of the evening resting. It seems to have gone away for now. I'm not cramping or anything but I'm still worried. Midwife appt on Wed so I'm trying to stay calm till I can speak to them. In reality I'm sure everything is fine and it's all normal. I've just never had something like this before except for when I miscarried not long after the birth of my eldest. That was years ago but when I saw the blood it just took me right back there.

Hope everyone is feeling good and can't wait to see more scan photos.

clumsypots · 21/06/2015 10:43

Hi everyone I'm a newbie here and I am hoping I can join you all. I think I am around 5 weeks but a little confused after trip to the gp Confused

haquoi123 · 21/06/2015 10:48

Hi clumsy, welcome and congrats! Why are you confused?

clumsypots · 21/06/2015 10:54

Thank you! I am mainly confused because I can't exactly remember when my last period was, also he advised me to continue taking some medication that is really harmful in pregnancies.

WouldRatherHaveCake · 21/06/2015 11:02

Clumsy it depends on what the medication is. Sometimes the harm of stopping them outweighs the risk. I did lots of reading on this last time because of the medication I was on, half stopped and the half continued.

QuackQuackers · 21/06/2015 11:06

that's annoying clumsy. Did they refer you for a blood test or scan so they can date you?

lilian I think it depends on your local area. Here you can't get access to the midwives unless the go refers you. So you have to have a (pointless) appointment with the gp to get in the system.

Betty5714 · 21/06/2015 11:10

Goulash i'm so so sorry for what your going through. Take care of yourself.

Welcome newbies!

Charlotte i would reiterate what others have said about symptoms coming and going. I havent had very strong symptoms but they have definitely fluctuated from day to day, and from morning to afternoon.

I had some reassuring news that i'd like to share. Today is my thirteenth day of spotting, which has mainly been brown but some red. The gp sent me for an early scan at the EPU and we saw a tiny heartbeat at 6+1. Sonographer couldnt see anything that would be causing the spotting and the dr at the EPU said (as others have said before) that sometimes there is light bleeding in pregnancy and it doesnt mean there is anything wrong. Its made me feel so much better so was definitely worth my several gp phone/in person appointments to discuss the spotting.

The only times i have felt seriously nauseous was on a day i was seeing someone about the spotting, so i think i was nauseous with nerves. Boobs still sore but it fluctuates, and my skin has got worse which is annoying! My bloat has gone down from when i got bfp, but is sometimes there in the evenings.

Hope everyone is enjoying a lazy, relaxing Sunday morning.

clumsypots · 21/06/2015 11:15

It's my warfarin tablets, I did some reading up on it, the medical journals I read said it shouldn't be used especially between 6 -12 weeks. I have managed to speak to a nurse at the hospital and swapped to an injection that is better but still not great if I understood the telephone call properly. Just got to wait for an appointment with the specialist and maybe everything will become clearer Smile

Rufus200 · 21/06/2015 11:45

clumsy I take it that your warfarin is for a history of blood clots? Far more important that you don't end up with a life threatening pulmonary embolism! I would call the specialist secretary Monday and tell them the situation so you can either get a priority appointment or advice over the phone. Just don't take no for an answer!

Today I am feeling much better then I did yesterday, still slightly nauseous and headachy but nothing compared to yesterday. I had to cancel everything and spend the day on the sofa. It finally started to reduce after I had dinner but I did several things different including switching from water to sugar filled drink! Had an Epsom salts bath and took a massive dose of B6 and B12. Need to work out exactly what made the difference! Managed to get some sleep last night without my bands on as my wrists are getting sore from constantly wearing them.

AbFab86 · 21/06/2015 11:52

Charlotte I'm type 1 diabetic too and my insulin resistance has increased. My doctor said that's completely normal and pregnancy hormones increase insulin resistance, so don't worry about that being a negative symptom.

Boobear1983 · 21/06/2015 11:58

Charlotte i go days without nausea, it's normal for symptoms to come and go. Please go see a doctor, midwife, nurse, private counsellor about your anxiety. I have suffered, and still do with terrible anxiety. I went private and it helped lots. Do you do much in regards to stress/anxiety relief? Yoga? Excercise? We are of course all here to help and offer support when you need it.

clumsypots · 21/06/2015 11:59

Thanks rufus you are right I will give them a call tomorrow. Glad you are feeling better today Smile

purdiepie · 21/06/2015 12:03

Charlotte, stop being daft and go and see a midwife. You need help. What were the results of your blood tests...and why on Earth haven't you had a private scan yet for reassurance?? It seems you are not doing a single thing to take action and lessen this anxiety.

Betty, absolutely lovely news.

Rufus200 · 21/06/2015 12:07

DH is currently whinging about his hangover from the party he went to last night without me while I stayed on the sofa feeling like I had a hangover from hell. He is rapidly getting into a danger zone for having his head bitten off, particularly as he is about to go to the pub with his dad!

Mirabal · 21/06/2015 12:11

My symptoms definitely come and go Charlotte

Also if you only contact midwives at 12 Weeks there may not be enough time to book for in for nuchal (12 week) scan which needs to happen, I think, before 14 weeks. Really sorry I don't want to add to your anxiety but just thought you should know that it is good to get into the system for that reason. Flowers it sounds like a really difficult time for you, please do try to talk to someone about your anxiety x

lillianbeth · 21/06/2015 12:31

thanks rally and Cake I found the Maternity Helpline number for my closest hospital so I'll give them a call tomorrow - hopefully since I'm at the 7 week mark they can see me in a couple of weeks!

Sorry you're feeling this way charlotte - it is a precarious time for all of us especially when you read about the risks and statistics and everything that could go wrong. But I think it will help to try to relax and take it easy and look after yourself. You sound like you're lacking peace of mind so i would try to see a private GP or practice and elect/pay to have an early scan.

SweetCharlotteRose · 21/06/2015 12:32

I've got a scan tomorrow Purdie. I wanted to wait until 7 weeks as I was worried if it was too early and inconclusive it would make things worse. Method to my madness you see!
I think they will see me even if I don't book in until late as I'm a high risk pregnancy but if necessary we could pay for a 12 week scan.

Yay Betty - what a relief! Smile

SweetCharlotteRose · 21/06/2015 12:40

AbFab that's good to know! I definitely had lower blood sugars with ds but then I wasn't eating anything and was constantly sick. I know progesterone raises sugars but my understanding was that it was usual to need less insulin in the first trimester and increase from there on in. My doses have gone from around 22 units a day to 28 units a day.
