Goulash, so sorry to hear that Flowers

Lazy, welcome!

Birdbrain, I'm the Risk Management lead for a large IT firm. Pretty dull most of the time.

I don't know how everyone with a bleed is staying sane- I had one this morning and, despite the sonographer telling me to expect it, was convinced it was all over for me and mini-monkey... seems to have stopped now tho. Here's to successful scans for us all...

Sleepingbunnies · 20/06/2015 21:28

goulash so sorry xx

goodnightmush · 20/06/2015 21:36

Goulash I am so so sorry Flowers

goodnightmush · 20/06/2015 21:45

I don't really want to post anything else as I feel like goulash's news trumps anything else at the moment, but I know this thread will have moved on by miles by the time I can check in again tomorrow night.

Mars and Fox I thought my first labour was fast (2h45m) but now I feel positively tortoise-like! It was an unplanned unassisted (except by DH) home birth so am hoping someone medically trained will arrive in time this time around. Did you have any serious after effects? I tore pretty badly (sorry if TMI) but I think I should just about still be okay for a planned home birth this time.

I don't suppose you all live in my neck of the woods - South London/Surrey ish? If so the home birth midwives are going to have their hands full come Feb Hmm

Happytimes2 · 20/06/2015 22:32

We told the grandparents this weekend. My mam guessed as soon as she saw the decaf tea bags then I didn't want a brew. Starting to feel real. Still feeling incredibly guilty cos ds had a mmc less them a mth ago. It really isn't fair that people who want to b parents and would b good at it loose babies X

Mirabal · 20/06/2015 22:57

I'm so sorry to hear your news goulash Flowers

Zookeeper73 · 20/06/2015 22:59

Oh no, Goulash, I'm so sorry

Mumof1sofar · 21/06/2015 00:03

Goulash I'm so sorry. We are all here for you Thanks Hope you're getting lots of support in RL.

Welcome newbies.

Just got home from a party... It was quite weird talking to loads of drunk ppl by the end of the evening but I quite like the fact that I will wake up with no hangover tomorrow. One of my really good friends was there & I'm pretty sure she guessed as I wasn't drinking but she didn't ask me outright so I didn't say. The only people we've told so far are v close family.

WouldRatherHaveCake · 21/06/2015 00:10

Hi lazy! Congrats

lillianbeth · 21/06/2015 00:25

Sorry to hear your news goulash :(

Hi everyone this is my first post on mumsnet after finding this thread.

I got my BFP last Friday and DH and I are over the moon as I'm turning 36 this week and we've been TTC for over a year. 7 weeks now and according to the NHS calculator my due date is 14-Feb.

It's still sinking in and I have to ask myself when I wake up if I'm really pregnant or if I was dreaming it. Some symptoms already like sore breasts, bloating, slight cramping (not painful but the feeling that things are moving around in there).

Saw a private walk-in GP and they said blood tests are not required unless I have concerns and advised for me to get booked in to see a mid-wife and schedule my first scan from 10 weeks.

Anyone had experience in self referrals to hospitals or do people normally go and see an NHS GP first?

eggsnbeans · 21/06/2015 06:13

So sorry for your loss Goulash :(

Bigfox - my Dd2 was speedy too, would have been accidental home birth if I hadn't already been in for monitoring! 1hr 20muns from start of proper contractions! In my nct group there were 3 accidental home births and 1 near miss out of 5 2nd babies!

peggysue82 · 21/06/2015 07:21

DS2 was also super speedy...under 2hrs, only 4 mins from my waters breaking!!! Had only been in hospital for 45 mins Shock Hadn't even thought about it but do they always recommend a home birth after a fast delivery? I defo do NOT want to be a home!!!!

rallytog1 · 21/06/2015 07:56

Welcome Lillian! My area is the same - you don't see a GP but you just self-refer to the community midwives and have your booking appointment with them at about 8-10 weeks. Depending on your area, you might actually see your mw at your doctor's surgery, children's centre or maybe even at your home - it won't necessarily be at the hospital. My tip would be to phone them and arrange that appointment sooner rather than later, as they can get booked up.

Congratulations Thanks

WouldRatherHaveCake · 21/06/2015 08:17

Hi Lillian, I saw the GP first with DS as I was on some medication that's not safe for pregnancy but was still made to feel I'd made a mistake!

Told OH this morning, etc gave me a big hug and a kiss and seemed in shock!

SweetCharlotteRose · 21/06/2015 08:29

WHY DON'T I FEEL SICK????

It's gone. Sad

StockingFullOfCoal · 21/06/2015 08:31

DS: 36 hours.
DD1: 94 minutes - early Induction.
DD2: 40 mins.

jellypi3 · 21/06/2015 08:51

charlotte you really need to calm down and see a doctor about your anxiety. evwryobe has commented on their symptoms coming and going. You need to speak to someone (in real life, not via the Internet). Sorry if that sounds harsh but comments like that are just going to panic other ladies on here who have no symptoms / fluctuating symptoms.

SweetCharlotteRose · 21/06/2015 08:58

I meant that sickness had gone.

I've seen the gp already who sent me for hcg blood tests but didnt offer any suggestions for the anxiety.

rallytog1 · 21/06/2015 09:12

We know what you meant Charlotte, but sending yourself into a state of panic every time a symptom fluctuates is not doing you any good. It's totally normal to be paranoid and stressed at this stage (and I do realise a lot is riding on this for you), just as it is for symptoms to go up and down, but you appear to be in a constant state of panic. Did you specifically ask your doctor for help with your anxiety, telling them everything you've told us? If not, you need to go back, explain again and ask for help.

NoMontagues · 21/06/2015 09:12

charlotte my nausea comes and goes a lot.

wouldrather - was it you who was anxious about telling your DH before now? I Can't find your previous posts (the threads move so fast!)

My previous births were (from active labour):

DD: 14 hours
DS: 8 hours

I think I'll be ok to get to the hospital! Although they told me that my birth with DS wasn't a typical second birth as I had had 13 years between births. It was more similar to having another first birth.

haquoi123 · 21/06/2015 09:15

Hi charlotte, when's your midwife appointment? You can flag up anxiety with them (is a general question they ask). When do you get your blood results back? Without going back through the threads I can't remember - is this your first, have you had any previous losses?

WouldRatherHaveCake · 21/06/2015 09:19

Charlotte it may be unwanted advice so scroll past if it is!

I have suffered with depression and anxiety for years, I got it under control but when I was pregnant with DS the anxiety fired up. It was a constant worry and being convinced that the next milestone would be the one that would calm me down, it ruined my pregnancy and caused problems post partum.

My advice is that if you are feeling like the anxiety is taking over get it dealt with. Speak to the GP - there are plenty of medications that are safe in pregnancy and counselling can make a massive difference, but also speak to the midwife. In our local area we have a specialist midwifery team that you see alongside your normal one who care for your mental health. I will definitely be using them this time.

I hope things can calm down for you and you can feel more relaxed about it all

WouldRatherHaveCake · 21/06/2015 09:21

mont I have been nervous because I didn't reach 5 weeks last time, and it's just not real yet!

SweetCharlotteRose · 21/06/2015 09:21

I got my blood test results on Friday. I did tell the gp how worried I was but I suppose there isn't much they can do? They can't prescribe anything can they? Which is what would probably help.
This is my second pregnancy but we've had a load of failed fertility treatment and then bizarrely fell pregnant naturally.
I haven't got a midwife appointment as I don't want to contact them or the diabetes team until I'm about 12 weeks. I don't want to have to cancel it if everything goes wrong so I'm waiting.
It is reassuring to hear other people have symptoms which come and go too. With ds I was sick constantly and was hospitalised at about 9 weeks, then 12 weeks and again at 16 weeks. My blood sugars are different too, usually they drop in the first 12 weeks but mine have gone up. I'm requiring more, not less, insulin. Less insulin is the norm.

SweetCharlotteRose · 21/06/2015 09:27

I guess it just seems to unlikely that we will get a baby. I've been thinking for nearly 3 years that there's no hope so I'm struggling to get myself out of that mindset. Dh has less than 1% morphology so I keep thinking even though one has reached the egg, what's the chance that it's 'normal'?
