purdie you almost triggered nausea in me! Envy Wink

rallytog1 · 18/06/2015 18:04

They'll date the pregnancy from the size of the foetus blue. But theoretically that's still based on LMP too. So if they say your baby is 8 weeks, they'll mean it's measuring the right size for a baby conceived around 6 weeks ago.

Your dates won't necessarily change when you have a scan - I've always had very regular periods and ovulation, so my dd always measured exactly right for dates. However people with more irregular cycles may find their dates change based on the size of the baby, for example if they ovulated late.

purdiepie · 18/06/2015 18:04

Blue, they will only ever count your pregnancy from the LMP. Only a small percentage of women can know their conception date.

Bluenewbie · 18/06/2015 18:22

oh well, I was hoping that my immediate checks of the time and noting it after every encounter, will be useful.. Grin

that just proves that numerology can't work! (and that my parents lied to me about conceiving me on their wedding night(unless they had sex this only time! Shock)) Hmm

jellypi3 · 18/06/2015 18:38

Yeh Exactly above your pregnancy will always go on LMP. At your dating scan they will go by LMP unless you conceived at a different time, so it's rare to change it. That's why pregnancy is classed as 40 weeks when gestation is technically 37 or 38 weeks (can never remember).

I'm off work tomorrow and can't frigging wait. Combination of hormones and feeling shit made me almost kill my boss twice today.

Bosabosa · 18/06/2015 18:42

Thanks for the welcomes! And welcome badger!

Mars- I have two friends who had successful pregnancies and never had sore boobs so I would not worry.

Banana races-I have such tired legs! If anyone had said that tired legs would be one of my main first trimester symptoms I would not have believed them! However, I always used to suffer from it when on AF so I clearly have sensitive - to- hormones legs!

Cannot recall who asked ( am on phone) but I have had a few internal scans as I had fertility monitoring for one cycle. I found them easy to handle (but I have always found smears ok too- just call me easy!) It is less uncomfortable than a smear but make sure your bladder is fairly empty! Lots of lube plus a condom.

Bosabosa · 18/06/2015 18:46

Ps I am staying at parents (who don't know) for a few days and I am having to eat a dinner after work before I go to theirs for dinner as otherwise I would eat 5 plates worth and they would be suspicious! I kinda like it Wink
Nausea seems to be randomly triggered (and not often) rather than by foods.

NoMontagues · 18/06/2015 18:48

Irrational pregnancy rage here.

I'm cross with the doctor who did DS check up today. I'm cross with DD for lounging around watching TV all the time when she should be out enjoying the sunshine. I'm cross with DM for looking at my stomach judgementally because she thinks I'm not losing the weight after DS.

Angry Angry

Lilymog · 18/06/2015 18:49

Oh Lordy! I've just checked and I've got a brown discharge. I am 6+2 and it was this exact day previously that I started spotting which lead to my MMC. I am so scared. My hubby said it might be nothing but I can't believe that history might be repeating itself.

purdiepie · 18/06/2015 18:50

I think the point I'm trying to make - and which is why midwives use lmp - is that some women will have conceived late in their cycle and therefore will not be as far along in their pregnancy as a woman who shares the same lmp but ovulated early. The difference will only become apparent when they can date the pregnancy later on.

purdiepie · 18/06/2015 18:53

Oh, Lilymog, no Sad

GoulashSoup · 18/06/2015 18:54

Your due date may change a little at the 12 week scan as they date it according to measurements. In my pregnancy with DS they used the scan date rather than my date from then on. I think this is used as it is standard across all women where as self reporting ie LMP or ovulation dates will be more or less accurate depending on how aware the woman is of her cycles etc. I use ovulation rather than LMP as last time I was having long 43-45 day cycles, and this time I haven't had a period since stopping contraception. Last time the moved my due date by 9 days so I am prepared that it may move this time too. It is usually only by a couple of days though.

jellypi3 · 18/06/2015 18:56

Fx it's nothing serious lily. Can you contact ur GP

GoulashSoup · 18/06/2015 18:57

Lily I hope your husband is right and it is nothing. Some spotting is normal, but with your history it is understandable that you are alarmed Flowers.

birdbrain21 · 18/06/2015 19:08

Lily fx for you!

When I went to the mw yesterday she asked me the date of my lmp and then literally counted 40 weeks on a calander to work out my due date. With my last pg they changed my due date at the scan by a few days later as the baby was measuring small but dd was born a week late weighing just over 6lbs so I'm not convinced how accurate dating scans, I guess it's really useful if you have medical issues so don't know when you had a period otherwise changing a date by a week or so based on the babies size isn't very reliable as some babies are big/small and at the end of the day or 9 months rather they'll come when they're ready!

Can't remember who mentioned aching legs. I also get period pains in the top of my legs and I found in labour that's where the main pain of the contractions was. The mw thought it was so strange as most people get back ache or stomach pains and I was trying to work out how to make my legs comfortable Hmm

RattyCatty · 18/06/2015 19:11

Lily thinking of you & hoping it's nothing. Can you call your GP for reassurance? Flowers

Bosabosa · 18/06/2015 19:19

Lily, really thinking of you and praying for you.

Mumof1sofar · 18/06/2015 19:26

Thinking of you lily & praying for a sticky beanThanks

I've got the aching legs, aching back & dog tiredness today. Really feel like I've been hit by a truck Sad Ugh really hope this doesn't last long.

Happytimes2 · 18/06/2015 19:35

Last time round my dd got moved bk 2 weeks and he was 2 weeks late! Also don't forget only 5% of babies are born on their dd. Wish I'd known that first time round.

bopoityboo3 · 18/06/2015 19:40

Hello, can I join? Got a positive on Friday and think I'm about 6+4. Not doing to bad on the sickness front but am absolutely shattered. This will be DC3 and is a surprise addition to the family. Though now I've got my head around it is very exciting. Two under two is totally doable right?

Bosabosa · 18/06/2015 19:46

Birdbrain- thanks for the heads up on leg pain- contractions, I can really imagine having that (fingers crossed) as now, when I need the loo and can't go, I get all these leg aches and have to rub my thighs to ease the pain!

mamaplaysbassfortheRamones · 18/06/2015 19:56

I just got a surprise bfp! I'm 39, it's my third baby. Can I join the thread please?

Stepawayfromthezebras · 18/06/2015 20:19

I'm going to hire myself out to the police as a sniffer preggo. Everything is stinking at the moment Angry right now I can smell the cats' dinner from 2 rooms away - blee!

Hello to Mamaplaysbass and Bopity and fingers crossed for you Lily

bopoityboo3 · 18/06/2015 20:24

oh stepa i had that with ds it was rubbish. even DH smelt bad to me we had to try 5 different laundry powders before we found one that the smell of didn't make me want to throw up. fingers crossed it doesn't come back this time.

Cheesypop · 18/06/2015 20:37

I had an abdominal scan at the weekend, was 6w exactly and you could see the embryo, and see and hear the heartbeat.

I've had roughly a million internal scans (dildo cam) for the IVF and FET and they are fine. It's really just a dildo with a camera on the end and condom over it. They put it in, not too far, and wiggle it about a bit. You have a towel to protect your modesty to some degree! When having ivf you might have them daily and the clinic in the morning is just a massive queue of women all waiting to go into the room, pants off, dildo cam, pants on, off you pop, all over in about 3 minutes.

I also have brown spotting today. Quite worried because my understanding is the progesterone I'm taking is meant to stop any bleeding at all, so I'm not too sure what it means. I'll see if it persists and maybe phone the fertility clinic. Sad
