ravioli I've had that too! Exactly the same pain as when I was pg with dd and she had her foot in my ribs! Most weird as clearly this baby is too small for rib kicking yet!! I reckon it's our bodies remembering being pregnant from the first time Smile

rallytog1 · 18/06/2015 13:29

ravioli I think your body does react earlier in subsequent pregnancies. The first inkling I had this time was that my entire csec scar was tingly. I'm definitely getting round ligament pain earlier this time too.

Ohjellybelly · 18/06/2015 13:31

I'm a little envious of all of you with symptoms. If it wasn't for the 15 million bfp's and lack of period, I'd have no idea I was pregnant.
I was a sick as a dog in all of my other pregnancies and suffered from awful fatigue - this time, not a thing.
I'm the other way in fact. I can run longer on the treadmill at the gym without feeling shattered, I'm bursting with energy.

This pregnancy is with a new partner though so that must make a difference.
I'm not going to worry about a lack of symptoms though - there's nothing I can do to change things even if I did.

Hello everyone - any space for a mumsnet (and pregnancy!) newbie?
I'm 5+6 today - due 12th Feb. Ridiculously happy and excited, slightly anxious and oh so queasy! (should NOT have eaten all that cheese...)
Just wanted to say hello and congrats to everyone, especially those with happy scan news!

clarabellski · 18/06/2015 14:49

Congratulations BadgieBear Flowers

Hi ladies,

I've just called to book a private scan as I've been having very light brown discharge and other than the odd cramp here and there no other systems, so just wanted to check that there is a bean in there.

When I was booking it the lady worked out that I'm 7 weeks pregnant, rather than the 9 weeks from my lmp. I have been having really random cycles (37 and 52 days were the last two before BFP) and she has worked it from the Clearblue digi I did a couple of weeks ago and she said as I'm early in the pregnancy I'd have to have an internal examination, has anyone had one of these?

What has peoples experiences been with early scans? I've just read on another thread that there's not much point until 9 weeks as you cant see much?

SmashleyHop · 18/06/2015 15:27

OMG- I have absolutely no energy at all. It's all I can do to keep on top of the dishes and laundry. It's like all I want to do is eat, sleep and pee. Poor kids have had a "movie day" with mommy. Thank goodness they are off to nursery tomorrow.

Yesterday was my first sicky feeling. The low blood sugar/weak feeling is still constant unless I stuff my face till I pop.

My first Midwife appt is next week. Really looking forward to knowing for sure how far I am as the due date calculators keep telling me different things.

Congrats on all the new comers and good luck with the ladies having scans soon. Can't wait to see my little bean. Grin

Mumof1sofar · 18/06/2015 15:55

Smashley I am exactly the same! I'm teaching today & have absolutely no energy for it. Ugh! The exhaustion has definitely hit me now. ConfusedConfusedConfused

BananaRaces · 18/06/2015 15:55

Bosabosa I am bloated with a little sticky-out tummy as well, and I'm only 5 weeks. I've had to stop wearing my high-waisted jeans because they are too uncomfortable... Already! Sad

I've been walking into and out of work as usual, but it seems to be taking me quite a bit longer than it normally does... and the walk I'm going to be doing to the hairdressers after work today feels like an enormous challenge... Anyone else got really tired legs??!

CatnipMouse · 18/06/2015 16:09

Don't worry ohjellybelly not everybody has mega symptoms, I don't have anything much. Although I think my boobs are a bit bigger which is great as they have always been tiny! Yay! Cleavage!

clarabellski · 18/06/2015 16:19

First scan date now added to the sheet, woop woop!

Assuming all progresses well, I'm looking forward to learning how far along I am as I could be anything from 7 - 11 weeks along!

Mumof1sofar · 18/06/2015 16:21

I tried to buy topshop's maternity Leigh jeans but they are permanently sold out... Just realised its because Kate Middleton was pictured wearing them! I definitely have a tummy and I'm only 5 weeks gone. ConfusedBlush

Mumof1sofar · 18/06/2015 16:21

Exciting Clara Smile

RattyCatty · 18/06/2015 16:43

rose I had an early scan this week to date my pregnancy because of irregular periods. It was nhs so might be different but was an internal one. Nothing to worry about - just (sorry!) like a thin lubed up dildo that they move around a bit inside you - it doesn't go very far in!

purdiepie · 18/06/2015 16:45

Rose, yes, at this early stage we need a transvaginal scan as an abdominal US wouldn't be able to pick up the images. The scanner up the vagina is the length and shape of a dildo and the nurse puts a condom on the end and lube (I kid you not).

Whoever said there's nowt to see before 9wks was misinformed. A

clarabellski · 18/06/2015 16:48

lol @ rattycatty

Bluenewbie · 18/06/2015 17:14

BadgieBear welcome and congrats on your BFP! :) Star

ohjellybelly welcome to the Non Symptoms Club ;) same here.

Rose85 I have a brown discharge for 18 days now. I was also worried, done HCG levels that came out promising(there is a life there! yay!). I had a random phone call from one of the MW today and mentioned this to her and she said that brown is common and nothing to worry about. Not even one person from NHS seem to be concerned. looks like a common and not serious symptom. And as many of ladies here previously wrote, with an early scan you will only now that "today you are pregnant" . That is the reason (plus money) why I decided to wait until 12 week scan, despite of no symptoms and discharge. I'm first timer so not sure but from what I remember reading, there is a possibility it is to early to see the HB already.

Mumof1sofar · 18/06/2015 17:14

With dd1 I had a scan at 7 weeks & they managed to do it abdominally so didn't have to have the condom BlushBlush

Mumof1sofar · 18/06/2015 17:21

Btw if anyone manages to find some nice maternity cropped trousers please could you let me know where they are from? I've been looking but no luck.

raviolig · 18/06/2015 17:46

I had an early scan with ds, at about 6 weeks, was not internal and I am not skinny!

jellypi3 · 18/06/2015 17:53

rose firstly you can't trust the CB digi's so I think the lady you spoke was talking bull shit. The NHS date your pregnancy from your LMP for a reason, even if you know the day you conceived they will still date it from your LMP until your 12 week scan.

And internal scans are fine. I had one at 6+6, couldn't see clearly the baby but saw the yolk sac and most importantly a flashing heartbeat so you will see something. My scanner didn't use a condom just copious amounts of lube. I've never had an internal before (not even a smear) so was nervous but honestly they are fine. Just wear a dress or skirt so you don't have to strip out of trousers.

Bluenewbie · 18/06/2015 17:53

I also had a bloat early on and it shows on and off nowadays. Do you actually start to put some creams on your belly at this stage to avoid stretch marks? I got plenty when I was growing up and I don't want them again. I'm planning to use only a coconut oil, or some of you've got a no results experience with it and would suggest Bioil or something else direct for stretch marks?
just a question when to start?

purdiepie · 18/06/2015 17:55

I'm shocked at the early abdominal scans! Never heard of an US being successful at 6wks; I stand corrected

Does anyone else's tongue feel like they've been sucking the sweat from the unwashed balls of a Syrian refugee?

Bluenewbie · 18/06/2015 17:58

so after our 12 week scan, we will all have our number of weeks changed.
jellypi Does it mean that they will actually stop counting from LMP and it will be counted from actual conception date? What if the baby is 9 weeks but measures for 8? How do they calculate these things? Not that it matters that much, just curious.
