Ha! Too tired to tag properly...

Lilliana · 15/06/2015 14:21

I'm only having the normal NHS ones too - did think about an early one as we mc but I've spoken to people who had an early scan and still mc after they had seen everything was ok so figured it would only calm me down for a couple of days so not worth it!

Different me from the one I spoke to previously and she agrees I'm probably about 9 weeks. She has put a note for me to have an earlier scan in case I'm even further along so fx I'll get one for around 11 weeks.

Blackandwhitecat3 · 15/06/2015 14:22

Oooh chatty I had runny eggs on Friday, felt so guilty after. According to nhs cooked prawns are fine.

mrschatty · 15/06/2015 14:31

Oh thanks b&w was yummy and stopped my nausea!!

Pugmumlondon · 15/06/2015 15:27

Just catching up.

Are private early scans common then? I only had one because of bleeding. I don't know much about risk factors etc... Or any of the antenatal tests - my other half keeps telling me to stop googling as I make myself worry. Everything was ok at the scan - 7+2 so I think we'll await the 12w appt. But I would be seriously fed up if I'd referred at 5 w and was still waiting to hear. They told me I should get my date through by the end of this week...

OTheHugeManatee · 15/06/2015 15:34

blackandwhite As far as I can make out, salmonella affects maybe one or two eggs in 40,000.

Here are some things that are more likely to happen than getting salmonella from your dippy eggs, including finding a four-leaf clover on the first go (1 in 10,000).

Today I have graduated from tiny folic acid tablets to the humongous preg multi-vit ones in the hope that the ginger + vit b6 will help steady my sickness. What a battle! (I won!). Ladies who have been popping those through nausea the last few weeks, I take my hat off to you!

Blackandwhitecat3 · 15/06/2015 15:43

Brilliant Manatee. Scary about the drunken pilot one! I kind of wasn't worried, I've read "expecting better" but I'd not really chosen to have runny eggs (long story and it was a bit complicated to get round) and I remembered later that day and figured I'd not been ill yet so was probably fine Smile

brickiemum2 · 15/06/2015 15:51

Nhs advice.... cold pre-cooked prawns are fine Grin

BeeMyBaby · 15/06/2015 16:33

I'm just waiting till my 12 weeks scan, although I did just decide to haggle with the mw over the phone as although booking in appointment is next week (at about 9 weeks), my 12 week scan wasn't going to be until I was 13 weeks, and as I might be a couple of weeks out due to irregular cycles, I managed to get it brought forward a week- so now I only have to wait a month exactly which I find much more manageable. I've also been having very slight bleeding (just when wiping, once a day usually) for the last few weeks but I'm thinking its maybe just bleeding cervix (lovely!) like other posters mentioned it might be. I know there's nothing that an early scan can do anyway so I will just discuss it with the mw next week...

MaybeMrsMum2016 · 15/06/2015 17:02

I'll just be waiting until the NHS 12 week scan. I work there though so really hoping I avoid seeing colleagues who don't know about the bean while I'm there!

Lookingforadvice123 · 15/06/2015 17:14

sleepy I had a private early scan at 8+3 due to suspecting i was miscarrying and they couldn't see me at EPAU for 4 days! I had another two weeks after for reassurance. I would've had a private one at some point even without the sporting, as I suffer badly with anxiety which has gone through the roof during this pregnancy. It was 100% the right decision for me as its helped ease my mind, I'll still be nervous for my 12 week scan in 10 days but at least I know everything was ok only two weeks beforehand. The risk of miscarriage after seeing a heartbeat at 8 weeks goes down to 2%, then at 10 weeks it's 0.6%. You have to do what's right for you though, most people I know in RL have just happily waited for their 12 week scan.

I'm not doing harmony though although if my downs risk is high, I will be having the amnio. For me at my age (27) I don't see the point of paying hundreds for something which is unusual. I'm still worried about the NT test but will cross that bridge when I get to it. I had literally never heard of harmony until coming on here, one of my friends is 35 and pregnant (so obviously higher risk of downs) and she didn't have harmony, just had the usual NT and bloods.

Lookingforadvice123 · 15/06/2015 17:14

Spotting not sporting!

kep1979 · 15/06/2015 17:19

I told the GP I was pregnant at 4.5 weeks and still waiting to hear. Surely it can't be that hard to book an appointment in advance! Very frustrated.

On a happier note, and totally off topic, but we had our official mortgage offer through today Smile So should be exchanging this week, although due to the old dears we are buying off being slow as a very slow thing various reasons we don't complete until tge end of July. Very excited - lovely big house in a lovely leafy area, and we have been between houses for seven months now and i have had more than enough of living with the in-laws, however nice they are!

kep1979 · 15/06/2015 17:26

We had the early private scan (at 7+2) due to prior mc and needed some reassurance - it helped calm us down. Then had EPAS scan last week (at 8+6) due to spotting which freaked me out.

Took us a while to decide what to do about other tests. I am 36 and so at a naturally higher risk. We decided on Harmony really after it was in the news and dh was keen to find out/rule out the trisonomies asap.... we have slightly different views on tfmr and would need time to make the right decision for us, and wanted that before others knew about Bean. Each to their own though, it is a tricky subject and i hope that none of us need to worry about it.

SleepyDragon · 15/06/2015 17:56

Thanks for all your reasons and opinions ladies! Grin

mrschatty · 15/06/2015 18:51

Oh well and I've stuck to our original dates and said I'm 10w other than scan dates. Can't wait to 10th July to see my bean again!

mrschatty · 15/06/2015 18:52

kep second that I hope we all don't need to worry

Oysterbabe · 15/06/2015 19:12

Evening! Just the NHS scans for me. I don't know if I'd go for the amnio if I get a high risk nt, I hope I won't have to think about it.
Got my booking in appointment date today, 30th June. Happy to have something in the diary!

fishermanswife1 · 15/06/2015 19:29

I'd third that kep and mrs. Lets hope none of us have this worry.

And congrats kep that's really positive and exciting news! Busy few months ahead of you!

Juniper44 · 15/06/2015 20:27

Random thought just popped into my head: if there are any other primary teachers on this thread (I think most seem to be secondary) then ask about being tested for slapped cheek at your booking in appointment!

It's also called fifth disease as it's so common in young children, but can be risky if you're exposed when pregnant.

Lilliana · 15/06/2015 21:02

Thanks juniper, I'll keep an eye out. We had hand foot and mouth going round last time I was pregnant.

TeenieDeenie · 15/06/2015 21:26

Sorry to all the ladies that have been feeling rough today. My nausea seemed to come in waves all day long, no fun when you're sitting at work trying to act normal.

Got my early scan tomorrow at 11.45am. Already terrified but am so hoping it's good news this time. There will be tears either way no doubt. Will let you all know how I get on.

kep1979 · 15/06/2015 21:36

Good luck for tomorrow teenie

Bedtime for me... have been lay down since 6 but resisting sleep (no idea why)! I hope we are feel better in the morning.
