blue my parents were really happy for us, especially as it has happened so quickly after the miscarriage and considering we'd been trying for about 3 years. My dad demanded a girl though..... he assumes that I will want a girl cause of having two boys. In reality the thought of having a girl is quite scary as I am used to boys!

By the way, is anyone else's skin horrendous at the moment? I'm 10+2 and have a simply mammoth group of spots on my neck, and then loads around my jawline/chin area. I look minging!

MissMartin10 · 22/06/2015 14:16

sleepy yumm chinese sounds delightful i could eat a nice chicken chou mein Grin
I keep having dreams that im having twins Hmm

EdgarAllenPoe · 22/06/2015 14:21

I will be joining the spotty chin and jawline club. Is this nature's way of warding off other men since I'm already upduffed? That and just being a moody mare in general. How delightful. My husband is a lucky man.

SleepyDragon · 22/06/2015 14:26

MissMartin sweet and sour chicken (HK style so thin batter) and fried rice... i even dared to have a couple of prawn toasts and it was lush!!!

i feel really really lucky reading some of our comments, i haven't vomited and so far i haven't gotten spots (although i rarely do anyway)

I've had a couple of headaches which have really hurt and a bit of an achy back when i walk and nausea, oh and the purple highly sensitive 'ipples' but nothing else..... i don't know whether to be grateful or concerned!!!

fishermanswife1 · 22/06/2015 14:30

Sorry you're going through this lil. We're all thinking of you. Hopefully gp was considering worse case scenario.

Kep and Poe totally with you on the shocking skin. I look bloody awful. Last post from Poe did make me laugh.

Lovely news on your scan kep. Good luck for yours today crumble. Let us know how it goes. Got mine tomorrow and getting really nervous!

BlueEspoir · 22/06/2015 14:45

I am also qualified to join the Horrendous Skin Club. My chin and jaw are covered in spots, which nicely balances the dark craters under my eyes...

aliquid · 22/06/2015 14:56

Lil so sorry. What excellent patient care Hmm everything crossed for you,in my experience gps are a bit clueless when it comes to pregnancy. blue I'm really surprised your midwife said to ask the gp everything usually it's the other way round! Really hope everything's OK Lil.

loveulotslikejellytots · 22/06/2015 15:11

Sleepy - I'm in the same boat. I carry a blood clotting disorder but because of my -extremely- high BMI I would probably be consultant led care anyway. My midwife was really lovely though, she offered me a referral to a dietician which I said yes to but depending on the times of appointment offered I'll have to wait and see if I can go. My hospitals delivery unit has been installing pools etc into their consultant led ward anyway, she said that there isn't much difference between that and the MLU.

I've also been given a prescription for a higher dose of folic acid too.

MissMartin10 · 22/06/2015 15:14

does anyone here have experience of a water birth? im really considering having one but why on obem do they always remove the women from the pool to actually give birth.. i rather push the baby out in the water i don't know why but i have a feeling it wouldn't 'sting' asmuch ( not that i know why it feels like anywayHmm ) hehe

TeenieDeenie · 22/06/2015 15:34

Ha, MissMartin I know what you mean... I get the impression that being in the water would make everything stretch a little easier and also help baby to 'slip out'... It's definitely something I have been thinking about. As this is my first, I've no experience but my friend has told me as your bump gets bigger, being in the water feels really good. Maybe something to do with the water supporting the weight of it.

MissMartin10 · 22/06/2015 15:54

haha that's my thought exactly! i went swimming last week and the weightlessness on my boobs felt great... i don't know anyone personally who had had one .

BeeMyBaby · 22/06/2015 16:12

I had a waterbirth with dd2 and it did help as I was in alot more pain than I had been in than with dd1 where I was happy to be on a bed(dd2 contractions were in my back whereas dd1 was just front contractions and much more manageable). I do find that I feel as if I'm desperate to go to the loo when in labour do have to run back and forth to the toilet which made everything a bit wet, plus I had the unfortunate experience of having been a bit constipated the day before giving birth and the pushing caused a poonami with the midwife trying to subtly fish bits out Confused. I wasn't asked to get out until after dd2 was born and the tub was very icky by then anyway. It does seem to make you less likely to tear, but a mw told me afterwards (no idea if it is true) if women do tear being in the water can make it worse, perhaps because of the pressure, I don't know.

Lilliana · 22/06/2015 16:22

That's interesting bee. I wanted a water birth as spent half my pregnancy in a bath! but due to induction/ stupidly fast labour/ not being able to trace baby and being strapped to a bed there was no chance for anything I wanted! Fx for this time.

Sorry lil I hope the doc is just being over concerned and all is well.

DD has watched far too much Ben and holly today. I really need to find some energy and motivaton.

impatientlywaiting · 22/06/2015 16:27

I think OBEM shows a disproportionate amount of interventions to make the show more interesting, so I don't think you see as many waterbirths on there?

I gave birth in the pool, it was really good. Loved the time after when we just chilled in the pool whilst waiting for the cord to stop pulsating. It was quite manky by then though. I did tear though and it was a 3rd degree tear - shudder- not sure if the water made the tear worse or not?

babybabynamechange · 22/06/2015 16:44

I planned a waterbirth last time but had to be induced so wasn't able to. The birth wasn't great and I'd been considering having a planned C-section this time round, now that I know I'm having twins I'm pretty sold on a ELCS already.

I gave up this morning and switched to a pair of next-size-up jeans - I've recently lost weight so have two larger sizes available in my cupboard. I've got mat jeans from last time but mat stuff tends to "shape" your bump so you look more pregnant than fat - generally this is what you want (!) but not yet for me as it's too early to tell. I'm 10 weeks today and starting to feel calmer mentally. No let up physically though, sick and exhausted.

Juniper44 · 22/06/2015 16:55

I was under consultant led care for asthma, tachycardia and strep B last time, although the only time I saw a doctor was when one came to see my tear.

I tried to have a bath in early labour but I found the water made the pain worse. Maybe just because I was stuck like a beached whale! I preferred to pace.

MissMartin10 · 22/06/2015 17:11

ohh so mixed experience's .. i suppose you can't really 'plan' a birth can you. . you can have your preferences but suppose you just have to go with the flow ofthings. ..thanks for your experiences though Grin

mrschatty · 22/06/2015 17:21

I would have liked a water birth I'm low list midwife lead but I'm scared it'll slow labour down? X

mrschatty · 22/06/2015 17:21

*RISK I mean Hmm

brickiemum2 · 22/06/2015 17:27

I would love a water birth but both of my children were induced. I'll be induced this time again so I guess it's still off the cards Sad

MissMartin10 · 22/06/2015 17:36

i was thinking mrschatty "what's a low list?" haha Grin

mrschatty · 22/06/2015 17:44

Haha think I'm subconsciously putting myself of the 'b' eg unimportant list!!!!

SleepyDragon · 22/06/2015 17:48

loveyoulots I looked at MLU but know that if I do get consultant led they generally don't allow it where I am, same if you want pain intervention.

We have looked at coughing up for a private room though as I am 1, a ber bad patient 2, have no patience and 3, have no pain threshold whatsoever!!!

My biggest fear is tearing/episiotomy actually...

Marvelette · 22/06/2015 17:59

Hello all and good luck for the upcoming scans - exciting! I went to the loo at lunchtime and when I wiped there was some bright red blood on the tissue (not loads, four wipes later no trace), but I completely freaked out and my boyfriend booked an appointment for me at the EPU tomorrow morning (I was teaching and couldn't get through). However I have calmed down since, there's no more blood and I have no pain (fingers crossed). Would I be wasting their time to still go? They're only open 10am til 4pm so I can't ring and ask. Going would also mean taking a day of work. Thoughts? I'm starting to think (hope) I over-reacted? But i don't understand why there was bright red blood? (I've not had any spotting since my last period and am somewhere between ten and eleven weeks). Sorry for the essay!!

MissMartin10 · 22/06/2015 18:24

marv definitely still go.. your wasting no ones time! ... you will get reassurance you need Smile
