For all those lovely bumps incubating until last few days of Oct and all November, spilling possibly over to December for the super comfortable babies- come and chat, rant, vent, chant, glow, sweat, watch nails grow whilst doing antenatal pilates/yoga/sleeping/eating/navel gazing and over analyse to your hormones content!

Optional - FB group is up and bumping, PM me with email to be added.

pennygirl I've got a graco travel system and it's been spot on for us from birth. If it wasn't for the second baby I'd be using it for much longer.

I have to leave for my scan in half an hour. Its boiling here today so spent ages trying to find something cool that still fits and isn't a dress so I won't have to lay in my knickers while they scan me. Found a suitable top, fed dd and she barfed down my shoulder. Kids eh?!

TakesTwoToTango · 30/06/2015 18:27

Abbey - sounds very like round ligament pain to me. Sadly the pg discomforts seem to mount with each successive pg. I will not go into the things I'm experiencing this time around (no.3)!

TwoBeesInTheHive · 30/06/2015 18:33

We had our scan today and got to see our very chilled out, well behaved little BOY!! He seems such a calm little soul, complete opposite of dd and ds who were right wrigglers on their scans!

WelcomeToTheBungle · 30/06/2015 19:10

Ooh hello, can I join?

I'm due dc2 (a girl) on November 13th and apparently measuring a few days ahead. Slightly nervous about this as ds had cord issues (too few vessels) which can have implications for growth, and he was still 7 lbs 12! So I'm expecting a whopper of a girl.

I joined the March'13 antenatal thread and there are about 10 of us still chatting regularly. I do feel slightly like I'm cheating on them Grin but these threads provide such excellent support in the early days and beyond.

annatha · 30/06/2015 19:33

Hello welcometothebungle! I wish I'd joined in properly with my first, I'm looking forward to keeping in touch with all these lovely ladies.

We are team blue too! Quite a weird scan situation, they wouldn't let dh come in with dd (who was in her pram being quiet) as she might distract the sonographer, so they made him wait outside while she did the scanning. There was only one screen which she had turned away from me and instructed me to keep still and quiet Hmm it was ok at the end and she called dh in to announce the sex and explain the measurements, but it was a bit unnerving laid in silence for 15 mins wondering if everything was ok!

TwoBeesInTheHive · 30/06/2015 19:46

Aww Im sorry Annatha, that really sucks! Can't believe she made them wait outside!! We didn't have the best scanner, she was very impersonal and I actually had to ask her at the end to tell us if it was a girl or a boy (we spotted boy parts when she was scanning the legs but wanted to make sure!) I don't think she would have told us otherwise! We do have another scan in two weeks to check the placenta flow though so hopefully that one might be a bit more enjoyable!

annatha · 30/06/2015 21:19

Its luck of the draw isn't it! We had such a good experience with every scan and appointment last time that I just assumed it was like that everywhere. Apparently I should've had a letter stating that children weren't allowed in the scan room but I've had nothing and it was fine in Cumbria for my 12 week. I'd understand if she was a boisterous toddler but a chilled out 8 month old? Dh would have took her straight out if she started fussing.

SnozzberryPie · 30/06/2015 21:33

That sounds rubbish annatha and I'm a bit worried now as we're taking dd to my scan. When they made the appointment I told them that I would have her with me as it's not a nursery day, and asked if it would be best to try to get childcare or swap the day, but the sonographer said it was fine, so I'd be very annoyed if they don't want to let her in. She is a boisterous toddler but I think she'll love watching the baby on the TV screen so is unlikely to cause any trouble.

annatha · 30/06/2015 22:42

If they told you its fine snozzberrypie just kick off if they change their minds. I asked the midwife in Cumbria for my 12 week and she said just to turn up with baby, they can't turn you away. I think my sonographer was grumpy, it was the end of the day and absolutely boiling in the scan room. We've got nobody round here to look after dd so she's coming to my growth scans later on whether they like it or not. If god forbid I get bad news I'd want dh with me, baby or not. They can sod off.

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 30/06/2015 23:28

Thanks TakesTwo I was wonderful what it might be and the midwife didn't know. Don't suppose there's anything I can do about it?

Good news on the good scans!

That's rubbish annatha I was allowed DS for the 12 week but not the 20 Hmm luckily I had someone that could take him. It's going to be a family trip to the consultant though as I need DH with me for the c section / VBAC argument consultation.

Welcome to Welcome!

TakesTwoToTango · 01/07/2015 02:51

I'm not sure I'm afraid abbey. I have always just put up with it as I've been lucky it's not been too frequent (though excruciating when it happens!) and I've found it goes as tri2 progresses. I'm sure I've seen in here though women saying a pg support belt can help.

Congrats on the good scan news and welcome to welcome!

roughtyping · 01/07/2015 07:48

annatha I'm so sorry you had a rubbish scan appointment. I came away from my 20 week scan feeling similarly put out - had a few tears about it too. Have another one at 24 weeks and will be requesting a different sonographer.

roughtyping · 01/07/2015 07:56

Also re: buggy chat, I think I'm also going to go for M&P armadillo flip (think it is bowie who's going for same). It's so light! I know ive said this before but with DS we bought a massive travel system and I stopped using it by 6 months, I absolutely hated it.

Maternity clothes - I got some nice bits from ASOS. Felt very comfy yesterday (and I'm in Majorca so sweltering!) wearing a stretchy non-maternity stripy midi skirt from Asda, vest top and a sort of 'swing' top from ASOS maternity - it's blue with a sort of split up the back and ruching at the sides. Got a few nice bits from ASOS but think it can be hit or miss whether they're going to be lovely or terrible!

doomclaw · 01/07/2015 08:48

Argghhhh! Scanxiety is in full flow but appointment at 9.50 thankfully. Good luck to other scanees today.

WelcomeToTheBungle · 01/07/2015 10:16

Thank you all for the warm welcome :D

Annatha it does sound like you had a pretty grumpy sonographer. We had a reallllly grumpy one when I was 34 weeks last time (I had cysts that needed checking). She immediately declared the cysts "unfindable" because I had the audacity to have a nearly full term baby in the way. I mean really, how dare I? And then said "Oh well, it's alright for you, you've had another look at your son", as though I should be happy regardless. People can be very awkward for no reason some times.

rough and bowie I have the standard armadillo and love it. If I were splashing out on a new buggy I'd get the full blown armadillo. The standard one pushes like a dream, has an enormous basket and will take a big 2 year old for a full day out with minimal effort. And is small enough to fit in my very sexy Fiat Panda. I'm planning on slinging the wean and only sporadically using the buggy til she's big enough to be comfy, as I think the regular armadillo is really for 6 months+, although it says from birth.

Don't get it in yellow! It's a magnet for creepy crawlies.

tootsroots · 01/07/2015 10:23

doom GOOOOOD LUCKKKKKK!!!!!!

doomclaw · 01/07/2015 12:38

Thanks toots

All was well with baby and looks like we are team blue. Have to go back at 32 weeks as placenta is covering cervix but fingers crossed it will have moved.

TakesTwoToTango · 01/07/2015 12:40

Good luck doom! Mine is late today too. Eek!

doomclaw · 01/07/2015 12:58

Hope yours goes well Takestwo

BowiesJumper · 01/07/2015 13:02

Oo thanks Welcome, I was thinking of getting the armadillo flip with the carrycot for up to 6months, although that's an expensive way of doing it. Good to hear it works for a few years though, I want to avoid getting another pushchair etc! I don't think the flip comes in yellow so we'll be safe!

mrsscarlettbutler · 01/07/2015 13:47

I am so confused by pram/buggies. Don't even know where to start! We live in London so I want something that is suitable for the tube (ie light and not to big) ideally can be used from birth until toddler - lots of people seem to get a seperate pushchair which I don't really want to do if possible, something that works on both roads and grass (apparently the Bugaboo Bee is amazing, but rubbish on anything other than pavement?) and something that a car seat can be attached to. Oh and I'd like to be able to put things underneath it - lots of London mums seem to have these fancy buggeis where the baby is really high up and it's just wheels beneath it. Where would I put all my stuff ? I don't fancy carrying everything all the time, and I don't generally travel light so I can't imagine that's going to get better with a baby!

So not toooo many wants... but does such a thing exist?! Absolutely no clue as to how to start looking/deciding.

WelcomeToTheBungle · 01/07/2015 14:04

Bowie I have to confess, we never used a carrycot with our first. If I'm honest, I'm not sure what the need for them is. We used a Phil & Teds Dot for a long time with a Kaiser footmuff. As long as young babies can lie flat in their buggy and are secure, you don't need all the bells and whistles IMO.
The Flip looks very good, and certainly should stand the test of time.

Scarlett A friend who lives in London gets on well with her 2nd hand Bugaboo. But still cost £££ even 2nd hand! Buggies are awkward things because you don't realise how unsuitable some are until you've lived with them for awhile. For me, I wanted something lightweight yet roomy that fits newborn to toddler. It's the holy effing grail! It took me three buggies to find my perfect one.

Woohoo to all those having scans today. Go celebrate with ice lollies!

roughtyping · 01/07/2015 15:59

bungle Id heard that about the yellow! Think we'll get the gorgeous teal colour Smile

TakesTwoToTango · 01/07/2015 20:04

All good with the scan - phew!

Sleeplessinnorthlondon · 01/07/2015 22:13

Congrats on good scans TakesTwo and Twobees! Can I ask you ladies a bit about sleeping? I have to be up at 6 for work and get so tired so quickly been going to bed at 9 but recently been waking up earlier and earlier, not rested really but alert - used to get this with anxiety but now more just wired than anxious - but it's a bugger! Staying up tonight til newsnight as new experiment - how are you lot sleeping? xxx
