Welcome, welcome, welcome to the 30th grads thread... celebrating the success of Just Shagging in getting us viroids upduffed!

For those that don't know, a 'viroid' is from the original JSing thread 1, where someone was trying to type ladies (in reference to all the JSing ladies), but their phone decided to call us all viroids instead!

The name stuck and we've been the JSing viroids ever since.

The thread we have graduated from is here in its 48th outing. WARNING: they're all a bit kerazy not to mention randy!

There is also a Just Mumming thread here for once your babies come along, or to keep up with the graduated graduates!

There is also a private facebook group (so it doesn't give the game away in your news feed!)... if you want to join to see photos of new babies etc, just ask in-thread!

Here is the stats list, please update your own spot with any updates: Stats

Sorry Bat, that's rubbish Sad .

I ate prawns.

Toast85 · 09/06/2015 17:50

From nhs website:
'It’s safe to eat shellfish during pregnancy as long as it’s been thoroughly cooked. Any bacteria or viruses are usually killed by thorough cooking. However, if toxins are present, they won't be completely removed by cooking. If you have any concerns, you may prefer not to eat shellfish while you’re pregnant.'

Not sure what it means by toxins and what 'concerns' I could/should have, if viruses and bacteria are killed by cooking.

Toast85 · 09/06/2015 17:51

But basically, I want prawns.

jellypi3 · 09/06/2015 18:06

My friend told me her mw said they are fine to eat if you are sure they are cooked properly (so basically home cooked).

I avoided prawns at lunch today. Also avoided steak. Had tapas instead.

goodnessgraciousgouda · 09/06/2015 18:14

Luckily I hate sea food, so don't feel like I'm missing out!!

Toast - my understanding is that toxins are different to bacteria and viruses. Like if the shellfish are contaminated due to polluted waters, type thing, cooking wouldn't change anything.

Fattycow · 09/06/2015 18:17

pixie, I've added your date!

Purpleball · 09/06/2015 18:23

I've eaten shellfish in restaurants that seem to be decent. I've not cooked it myself or bought it at the harbour for example when we were on holiday.

Thanks for the good thoughts Smile I'm prone to anxiety and everything seems to set me off at the moment.

Hobbit19 · 09/06/2015 18:24

You can get something called 'red bloom' in some shellfish. It is a neurotoxin that shellfish ingest from the sea and then pass on to whoever eats it. We learnt about this on my degree (many moons ago) but that it literally the only time I have heard of it. Ever. If there were cases of it in the UK it would be all over the news. I have been eating prawns but only cooked at home. Personally I wouldn't eat them from a restaurant (especially not a Chinese, sorry Toast!) But again that is personal choice/what my particular midwife recommended.

Puuuuuuuush tee!

Toast85 · 09/06/2015 18:27

Thanks pud, that's what I originally thought I would do (and have stuck to) but just wondered if I was being over-cautious. Maybe I should stick to it though. There will still be duck pancakes!

deeplybaffled · 09/06/2015 18:27

Hi purple - scan here today too and I'm at the opposite side of the coin to you - they are concerned about small abdominal measurements and have to go back for another scan 2 weeks today. Maybe we can average out between us? If small measurement not a one off, the deeplet may have to be delivered early, but that's a worst case scenario so hopefully won't happen. ...
bat - if exam was truly hideous, might the pass mark be lower as everyone might have had same problems?
Good luck, tee and really pleased for you, pixie - date must be a real relief!

LaLaLaaaa · 09/06/2015 18:28

bat that's shit :( so sorry!

pixie that's awesome - hooray!

The prawns are fine as long as cooked properly. Toxins are heavy metals and other pollutants - mostly found in fish such as tuna etc. so that's why you should limit those to one per week.

As long as you don't go mad with the prawns or other shellfish it shouldn't be a problem. I have steered clear of stuff like scallops just in case, as it's the food poisoning aspect that can be harmful. But I've eaten prawns, tuna, salmon etc.. all the way through - limiting to once/twice a week. No sushi though, unless it's supermarket bought as they tend to freeze that which gets rid of the little parasites.

tee push push! waves pom poms madly push!

cym and fresh any news on you both?

Don't worry viroids I'm now on operation La-does-relaxation, so from now on I'm going nowhere and doing fuck-all.

My feet swelled up today, so I've got them up in the air on my birthing ball!

LaLaLaaaa · 09/06/2015 18:30

Oh - but I would never eat prawns in an indian. I've no idea why, I just wouldn't!

I had prawns in a chinese the other day. They were satay and they were NICE!

Fattycow · 09/06/2015 18:32

la, I hear you on the swollen feet! Mine are so huge that I cannot fit into my shoes at all!

Hobbit19 · 09/06/2015 18:45

Mmmm satay. Mmmm duck pancakes. Booo living in the middle of nowhere with no Chinese restaurants nearby!

Deeply, I reckon measuring small is a sign that you need to eat ALL of the food. :-)

Speaking of which Viroids I am a bit worried about something that is going to come across as a stealth boast but it isn't I promise. I am approaching week 13, and have put on no weight. Nada. I lost weight early on due to only being able to eat fruit and I have regained that, but that's it. Boobs and tummy are bigger but it has all come off my arms and legs. At times I have been eating like a horse but I am back to barely being able to eat this week. Did anyone else have this and manage to grow a healthy babber? I have upped my intake of protein and calcium but can't really stomach anything fatty/rich/sweet. I am mostly surviving on fruit and mozzarella cheese!!

Purpleball · 09/06/2015 18:59

Pud me neither. I was overweight to start with though so cutting out wine and not fancying much meant some loss which has now mostly gone back on. I'm quite paranoid though and trying not to gain any. Some people don't, some gain in 2nd tri, some in 3rd and some throughout. If the baby is growing fine then I wouldn't worry about it. You're not meant to diet but if you eat more healthily than normal you may well lose.

La I'm glad you're relaxing now. I've had swollen feet too.

A swollen face is the thing to watch out for with pre-eclampsia I found out today. Not just swollen feet and hands - which most pregnant women will get in summer! I can't remember the other symptoms - must google it

Tee....puuuuush!

Deeply hope they do even out, is there anything you can do? More cream cakes maybe?

Fattycow · 09/06/2015 19:03

pud, don't worry about it. Once you appetite comes back, you will want to eat all the things!

gaggiagirl · 09/06/2015 19:18

deeply eat! Eat! Eat! Did you get any pictures?

goodnessgraciousgouda · 09/06/2015 19:25

yorkshire aha, I learnt about red bloom through an episode of japanese programme that I ended up watching one day! It was sort of billed as something that only happens once every few generations, so agree that it's probably not common!

PixieChops · 09/06/2015 20:07

Thanks for updating my my stats fatty you gem Wine

Yes do not move La! You are now required to do bollock all!

Just been to nandos. Ate a shit load of chicken and had hot chocolate cake with cream for desert.
I'm a little concerned about my blood pressure, it's always been quite low- around 110/60 but today it was 145/60. I'm not sure whether that's normal, my consultant didn't seem to worry about it but it is quite high for me. Anyone have any idea on these things?

Fattycow · 09/06/2015 20:32

pixie, don't worry if the doc isn't. Mine usually is low, but since getting pregnant it is firmly normal. Typical pressure for me is now 124/77, so very close to the 'perfect' 120/80.

Fleurchamp · 09/06/2015 20:37

pud I put on 4lbs in first 16 weeks.

I had a BMI of 19 at booking in, I have a small build.

At the last count I had put on 25lb and I have now stopped counting, no point really. I am 34 weeks.

As long as the bump is growing and you are eating ok it doesn't matter.

Hobbit19 · 09/06/2015 20:49

Thanks guys, I am eating pretty healthily so the nutrients are definitely going in! Grow baby grow!

Hobbit19 · 09/06/2015 21:20

Ooh haven't heard from Tee for a bit, maybe that means baby tee is in his way. Thinking of you Tee, hope you've got some sweet drugs!

gaggiagirl · 09/06/2015 21:28

tee..........any craic?

gaggiagirl · 09/06/2015 21:29
