Welcome, welcome, welcome to the 29th grads thread... celebrating the success of Just Shagging in getting us viroids upduffed!

For those that don't know, a 'viroid' is from the original JSing thread 1, where someone was trying to type ladies (in reference to all the JSing ladies), but their phone decided to call us all viroids instead!

The name stuck and we've been the JSing viroids ever since.

The thread we have graduated from is here in its 47th outing. WARNING: they're all a bit kerazy not to mention randy!

There is also a Just Mumming thread here for once your babies come along, or to keep up with the graduated graduates!

There is also a private facebook group (so it doesn't give the game away in your news feed!)... if you want to join to see photos of new babies etc, just ask in-thread!

Here is the stats list, please update your own spot with any updates: stats

Haha tee Thanks for filling me in Grin

PixieChops · 04/06/2015 19:27

I've not bought one maternity bra, I've been really shit on myself this pregnancy. I've survived in leggings and vet tops and that's it pretty much. To be fair we haven't had much money after everything's been paid so jut put myself last. Last time I had loads of stuff but I did a clear out after DD was about 8 weeks old and binned everything! Even my pretty designer maternity bras. I just thought I wouldn't wear or need any of it again! What a dickhead I am! Lol

Lookingforadvice123 · 04/06/2015 20:02

Just catching up viroids!

Unfortunately baby showers are a "thing", I know lots of people who've had them to varying extents of cringe! My friend (who I love dearly) had an awful one at her mum's with baby games, the lot. Didn't help that I was 24 at the time and had no interest in babies. I did go to a nice one a couple of months ago though which as others mentioned was just afternoon tea, no games and we didn't have to watch the mum to be open the presents either (which I think is so awkward!). fleur sorry you're being forced into one, hopefully you will at least get some nice presents?

Viroids in terms of calorie intake when upduffed, what's the acceptable minimum? I know you only need a couple of hundred more than normal, but tbh before becoming pregnant I tried to stick to 1200 in the week (using MFP) but then pretty much ate what I wanted on the weekend. This (and exercising regularly) allowed me to maintain my weight and I'd even lose some if I wasn't too bad on the weekends. Any attempt at watching what I eat in trim 1 is a write off though, I feel nauseous all the time and eating stodgy stuff helps temporarily! But as soon as I feel better I would like to start afresh as I don't want to gain too much weight...already put on about 6 lbs and I'm only 9+4!

DulcetMoans · 04/06/2015 20:03

It's 'not his fault' because his boss is too busy to deal with it and barely in. This is true but the only way to deal with it is to book the time with him. Might only need 20mins to agree. Or email him a proposal. Do something! He absolutely does want the leave, no worries there. Annoying thing is that it probably will be fine (although want the guarantee of course) but his inaction makes me angry. Anyway, just a had a wee and had some brown (minimal - sure it's all fine) so will tell him that and see if that sparks any action! He has washed up now...

That would be annoying too gouda. Need a happy medium. DH is very supportive and helpful generally, just so poorly organised!

That was an error pixie, did you not think you would have any more?

Is mummy la there??

Hobbit19 · 04/06/2015 20:17

Looking I think it is different for everyone. If you put on weight in the first tri then you may well put on less in the second. If you need to eat stodge to stop you being sick then do it. Also, if you have only been on 1200 calories (not sure what MFP is?) Then your body may be concerned about where it's next calories are coming from and is trying to store as much as possible while it can, especially as you are now upduffed - this is a survival mechanism from times of famine. This is also the reason why a lot of people's weight will yoyo when they diet. Are you still managing to exercise? (I'm not!) If so, you body will get used to the food and your metabolism will go back up with exercise. So try not to worry (I know it's hard, I am worried about weight gain too) you are growing a human and your body is doing what it needs to. You can always lay off the stodge when you start to feel better. Hope that helps.

Lookingforadvice123 · 04/06/2015 20:42

MFP = my fitness pat pud! It's an app, sort of like a food/exercise diary. In fairness it was probably more like 1400-1500 cals with all the hidden extras, but I've always thought the recommended 2000 cals was quite excessive and I think I'd put on weight eating that much every day.

I really hope I don't put on much in the 2nd trim, I'm funny about my weight and have been a slim size 10
for years so don't want to balloon. Must be less piggy as soon as I can but it's physically impossible right now, felt so sick and just ate a pack of salt and vinegar mccoys = momentary relief!

Haven't exercised since my little scare last week but have booked on for spin on Saturday! Nausea has ramped up though so that might be interesting. I need to get into swimming really but I need a buddy to motivate me to go!

Oh well musnt complain too much, I would rather be huge as long as the bean is ok!

jellypi3 · 04/06/2015 20:50

I was doing slimming world before my bfp, lost 9 pound in two weeks but stopped after getting positive and haven't gone back. However it does work and once I'm over the sickness stage I'll go back to following the meals without actually going to the weigh ins, and when baby is here I'll go back properly. I really wanted to slim down for the wedding (currently a size 14 at 5'8) but don't think that's gonna happen now lol.

pretzelpieces · 04/06/2015 20:53

I had anorexia before so am going to be trying not to focus on it too much although I've already downloaded a chart with my ideal weight range for my pregnancy month to month . I'm going to try to not weigh myself and let the midwives monitor it I think.

Lookingforadvice123 · 04/06/2015 20:57

pretzel well done on overcoming your anorexia, amazing xx

Purpleball · 04/06/2015 21:23

I've battled all my life with my weight. Hence why I'm keeping an eye on it. I'm eating normally but not drinking my usual 2-4 bottles of red wine a week.

Normal weight gain is 1.5 to 2.5 stones or 21 to 35 lbs. I've been told that you only need extra calories in 3rd trimester, and 300 of them. If you're already overweight then it's likely that you'll gain much less than that. MW said that I may not gain anything or just the baby weight if I'm careful with what I eat.

I know I might gain some and I will lose it later. I don't think it's a good idea to get too hung up on it, just to be a bit careful and not go too mad

Diabetes stops me eating too many sweet things. I do have the odd thing and adjust my insulin to account for it. I've been craving fruit and pickled onions/beetroot (not at the same time)

I've been told that slimming world is healthy enough to follow in pregnancy as you eat a balanced diet. I've also heard that following the maintenance points option on weightwatchers is also safe.

Purpleball · 04/06/2015 21:24

Oh and pretzel well done for overcoming anorexia. It's a vicious disease

gaggiagirl · 04/06/2015 21:33

jelly slimming world is endorsed by midwives and the nhs in general. Its safe to stay on the sw plan during pregnancy, if you want to keep going that is.

Lets all (myself included) go easy on ourselves in terms of diet and worry about it if we need to once baby is out. I am allowed to diet otherwise my pelvis will explode

DulcetMoans · 04/06/2015 21:39

With the amount of KFC, raspberry magnums, chips, crisps, eclairs and other shit we talk each other into eating some of us are at the stage of go big or go home!

Save yourselves!

Seriously though, a 'diet' is not a good idea when pregnant. Eat well, stay active - absolutely but don't punish yourselves. You will gain most likely so just accept it. Once babies have popped we can go to grads grads thread and moan about being fat and get ourselves sorted!

jellypi3 · 04/06/2015 21:44

dulcet that's what my doctor said. She said even though slimming world is ok because it encourages healthy eating you can get hung up on losing weight which isn't great when pg, so just gonna focus on not eating too much junk and hopefully come out the end of it not too massive lol. My slimming world consultant said I can go for free so might go to group but not weigh in or something. Will talk to the mw about it when she eventfully arranges my booking appointment!

pretzelpieces · 04/06/2015 21:51

Ah thanks looking and purple [blushSmile it's actually one of the reasons I thought it'd take longer to conceive because I lost my period for five months last year, but here we are! Grin

PixieChops · 04/06/2015 21:52

Well done for getting over that pretzel and moving on with your life. Big unmumsnetty hug for you. My best friend suffered with anorexia before I met her and she still has the most irregular periods ever. I don't know whether she's ever able to have children as a result. She is not anorexic now and eats a healthy and varied diet. It's so sad and I can't imagine what you go through mentally and physically but it's so lovely to hear success stories in beating it x

I agree, we can't beat ourselves up when it comes to being pregnant and eating. At the end of the day your body will dictate how much you need to eat and what it wants. If that means you go through a cream cake phase then so be it. Smile
I weighed 9st before I got pregnant with DS and was 8 1/5 stone before I got pregnant with DD (first child) and ended up being 10st full term.
I have no idea how much I weigh at the moment and I don't really care.

pretzelpieces · 04/06/2015 21:55

Aww thanks pixie does a little hormonal weep

teejayem · 04/06/2015 23:17

Don't deprive yourself if cheeseburgers are the only thing you fancy to eat, that's been my mantra. Don't get me wrong, I know I talk a lot about cream cakes, but I also eat reasonably normal food now as well, I just don't tend to share it, because hummus and carrots just isn't as tantalising as raspberry magnums. I think I've said it before, but I ate so little between my bfp and about 16 weeks, plus laying off the wine, gave me terrible water retention and bloat, but then I got HUNGRY. Like silly hungry. But then i think anyone that spent the best part of 4 months nibbling on bovril on toast and trying to not yak probably would be hungry; it's amazing from a metabolic perspective how much your little beans and placenta use in terms of energy. Like, you can't grow a brain in a lab... But you can in your body and that shit needs fuel...
I do miss exercising though. It's just too painful now, so I'm really looking forward to getting out with the pram and sling and marching about with tiny tee in tow. I'm hoping to be a little lighter than I was pre preg, but realistically I'm all tits and arse so it probably won't happen.
No babies here. We walked. And walked and I've had some BH but that's all. Midwife at 11 tomorrow.. See what she reckons.. I wasn't going to go with the sweep route but I might just go with it if it's the midwife I like. I just feel enormous and heavy now, and another week seems forever.

NFMK- still going with the brown goo.

gaggiagirl · 04/06/2015 23:32

tee when is a sweep offered in your nhs trust?
Ours is 41wks on the dot. Its all different in each trust though I believe.

LaLaLaaaa · 05/06/2015 03:05

DM is snoring! Like a big snoring tiger. Can't sleep

Dh won his competition! Best team in UK! Very proud me. Also somewhat glad I'll not see him in morning as I reckon the boys will be pretty wasted!!

How you viroids doing? Cmon babies!

Congratulations to MrLa!!

teejayem · 05/06/2015 05:39

Not sure gaggia - the way my appointments have fallen I've not seen the community midwife since 34 weeks, as have been seeing consultant instead, and last week he said that if hadn't self-started by my next appt with him on 10th they would book induction, so no sweep mention there. I've been googling and it seems if you say you've had show, tightening etc they sometimes will do it, but on the other hand some mw won't touch you with a shitty stick if you're under a consultant.

la you should have lightning, I'm watching the thunderstorms on radar! It's just raining here...

No baby. Back is killing me from walking yesterday. Chalk that one up to a successful failure!

Hobbit19 · 05/06/2015 06:31

Yey well done Mr La!!! Grin

batfish · 05/06/2015 06:54

Woohoo to Mr la! Sounds like a great achievement Smile

Mr bat lost his job yesterday, eeeek! He has been working for a bunch of absolute bastards for 18 months but has been trying to stick it out so he doesn't look like a job hopper (even though previous jobs have been long term) - but has almost walked out on a number of occasions as his boss is a complete lunatic bitch and speaks to him like shit and he just generally disagrees with the way they do everything. He was so close to walking out yesterday morning but didn't - and then they spoke to him at 5.30 and said they were letting him go and they gave bullshit reasons which have really pissed him off as he works really hard and takes a lot of pride in his work. So that's not great. I'm not too worried because he got 2 months salary and we are lucky that we have been able to build up some savings - but I am just so pissed off on his behalf that they have treated him so badly, I'm so sad for him Sad

Hobbit19 · 05/06/2015 07:00

Oh no, Bat, that's terrible. Poor Mr Bat! Will he get redundancy pay? Will this affect where you live?? Flowers for you and Brew for Mr Bat.

JC I have seen your bump pic and am jealous! I only have a 'bump' in the afternoons/evenings. So yeah, that's just my belly. Confused On the plus side though I no longer feel as though I have to suck it in!! Grow bump grow! (But not too much as I want to hide it from the school kids for another 6 weeks!!)
