November 2015 ladies! Time to feel the glow!

Are you expecting a babe in November this year? If so, get ready to get glowing. Breaking out in spots, or tears, or both is part of the so called glow. Feeling sick, contemplating births and having the odd good day of eating well is also all glow.

Come on then. Wee in the corner to mark your spot. Have some Brew or Cake or Wine. Then glow.

I quite like second hand, and it's useful when on SMP Smile
I was lucky to get loads of things off freecycle and some from friends. Of course I give everything a good wash beforehand. I guess I just grew up with hand me downs. I used to get really excited about the big bag of clothes arriving to sort through when I was older and so did my cousin who had my stuff after me. I've lent DS's clothes to my friend and it's so cute seeing him in them, just that "awww remember when he wore this" feeling
I know some free cycles are rubbish but have a look - a lot of people want rid of their bulky baby items. Preloved is also good. And www.bumdeal.co.uk has an eBay local section

focus Smile Grin fish garage!!!

Focusfocus · 24/05/2015 20:05

Just bought 6 winter cardis/coats for £14 from ebay, branded - MS gap next - most are bought but not used, still in packaging or no labels, one is used, but it's a coat. Got three each for 0-3 and 3-6 and hoping to make the next baby a winter baby too to get the most mileage out of 6 cardis/coats for £14!!!!!

Focus that's hilarious! Hahaha. Grin Mine was really noticeable on my knickers today as they were black. I've noticed it the last few days when I've wiped after the loo! At least know I'm not the only one! Thanks.

cryingbabymess · 24/05/2015 20:17

Just had a shower so thought I'd better cut my toe nails...how the frick am I struggling to bend down already? Confused

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 24/05/2015 20:18

I forgot that if you don't like second hand but like cheap, some charity shops stock brand new baby clothes that's last season or the retailers can't sell. Shelter had M&S and CRUK had some, can't remember the brand though.

Focusfocus · 24/05/2015 20:40

Yeah the stuff I got off ebay is like abbey says, cheap but unworn and unused, mostly ex store and such like. Just tabulated all the clothes we've got, and we are sorted till June!! Very happy to have got new, yet cheap deals! The 2 quid funny little tee shirts from asda are great! Then baby soft full length jogging bottoms great for wintry 3-5 months also something like 3 for 6 quid with cute appliqués on each. Very happy!

Those of you buying lots of clothes already, do you know what you're having?

CishAndFips · 24/05/2015 20:52

wow im so tierd today. went to the races with dh's family yesterday, symptoms aside it was the first day i really felt pregnant but in a great big fat lump way. it was an enjoyable but very long day but today i actually feel like i have a massive hangover with none of the fun beforehand, how is that fair?Angry

GuybrushThreepwoodMP · 24/05/2015 20:54

Grin Grin Fish garage!
My autocorrect just went for fish Farage.
Prefer discharge to Farage.

I'm getting everything second hand this time. Got lots of nice bundles for dd when she was age 1+ off eBay. I like baby clothes to be neutral anyway, so doesn't matter what I'm having.

cryingbabymess · 24/05/2015 21:04

I've a REALLY sore stitch like pain quite high up under my ribs tonight! I can tell already I'm not going to sleep because of it! What is it?! ConfusedShock Why is it sore? It's not because I'm "bunged" up, I've been every day!

Oddicombe37 · 24/05/2015 21:07

We had a Phil and Teds last time as my first two were quite close together and I needed a double. I loved it. It didn't seem bulky at all, and was great for off road. Unfortunately I lent it to a friend who then moved to Australia with it!
I need a proper off road buggy this time, preferably something I can run with.

ehealy · 24/05/2015 21:13

Great top tip about the first aid course I will book this week and try to get OH and grandparents to do the same.

Focusfocus · 24/05/2015 21:22

Yeah we are having a boy, but getting as much unisex as possible. Winterwear can be pricey so ebay was great for that!

Oddi I have a bike trailer which I also use for sharing so would be good for running. Two kids, off road tyres and a hand brake on the handlebar. Thoroughly recommend. Zigo Mango.

GuybrushThreepwoodMP · 24/05/2015 21:26

*skating, not sharing

Lauramum23 · 24/05/2015 22:16

I used to get mega giddy about prams! I don't anymore Hmm I just think some are way too expensive and they don't feel very strong either. I liked the look of the joie tho, but I'm using my mamas and papas ultima it is still in brill condition and it has a lovely big snug carrycot for winter, it's also plain black so not really aged. Then I will buy a new maclaren quest my fave buggy for later.
I've had a phil and ted when my first 2 were little it was great. If I were having twins tho I love the out n about nipper ( I thought I wasn't
interested in prams??!)
Our next purchase is also a car my dh wants a vw transporter! ( need more room now they are getting big and to pull a caravan for holidays) he is looking ALL the time!

annatha · 24/05/2015 23:57

Secondhand all the way here, dd was in most of her clothes for a matter of weeks so it made no sense to fork out for brand new. She does have a lot of brand new things that will be ebayed actually- ridiculous outfits and things with millions of buttons etc. Beware of onesies with real buttons on- when you've unbuttoned it for the tenth time in a day you'll wish you stuck to poppers...

TakesTwoToTango · 25/05/2015 02:06

All hand me downs from my older two here. I need to have a good sort through soon and work out if there's anything additional I need but I think I'm pretty sorted clothes wise.

Buggies: we've got a bugaboo bee and a Phil and teds navigator double both of which I would recommend.

Focus I did have a good GrinGrin at your auto corrects Grin

MademoiselleG · 25/05/2015 07:58

Aaaaah found you all - sorry for bring a bit rubbish on MN, I'm away and find the app a right PITA!- and am glad to see the tone has been suitable lowered by focus and her dh's discharge in the fish garage! GrinGrin

MademoiselleG · 25/05/2015 07:59

SuitablY! See, I'm not very good with my phone...

MademoiselleG · 25/05/2015 08:06

Re prams: we bought a bugaboo cameleon second hand for dd but now the new one is out, I want the new one! shallow
I have been charged suffering the new Bee though as it has the option of a cute carrycot, which is quite like for our poor winter babies! But I've been told it can be a little flimsy and feel unsteady? Thoughts?
I am nervous about getting something different to the cameleon as it was simply SO amazing - for our urban needs. We don't have a car and it was Caro whenever we used one as it is mahoosive, but for navigating London roads, parks and public transports, it was 100% perfect.
But by 18 months it felt bulky and we switched to a maclaren. Good but hate that it has two handles, which means you HAVE to steer with both hands (no flat whites and no mumsnetting!).
Some friends bought a CityMini jogger and only ever used that one, so I feel a little silly for spending so much ourselves when their much cheaper option is still totally functional. I did not like that they had their tiny newborn forward facing though, I love talking to dd when she was facing us :)

Guess what I'm saying is I'm none the wiser...!

HeirToTheIronThrone · 25/05/2015 08:23

Buggies are unbelievably expensive! My lovely mum has said she will buy ours as she bought one for DB when my nephew was born last year. His was about £400 so we have the same to spend apparently! My friend raves about the City Jogger or Mamas and Papas Zoom and they seem like good value options so will have a closer look at them. Hopefully we'll get lots of hand me downs too, and SIL has promised us her cot.

ehealy · 25/05/2015 08:48

Best friend is giving us a cot that attaches to the bed. Parents are getting the pram/ travel system. Best friend has the cossato which she swears by as it's easy to collapse the base one handed. I like its colourful covers as well. When we get to August September OH and parents and I can go to the big MotherCare and try them all out. I can't wait for 20 week scan so I can buy a few things. I bought loads of stuff for best friend that's unisex so I'll get that all back. Apart from a couple of cheap changing mats and chest of drawers I'm not buying anything else. If I need stuff I'll get it as I need it.

flyingsprocket · 25/05/2015 09:37

lauramum we've got a VW Transporter, we love it! There's just two of us for now but we're very outdoorsy & chuck bikes and equipment in it. It's a camper too but we haven't slept in it much. Our other car is a 3 door so that will be replaced with something with more doors, it's still under discussion!

I'm still not going to contemplate buying anything until at least 24 weeks Blush buries head back in the sand
