Are you expecting a babe in November this year? If so, get ready to get glowing. Breaking out in spots, or tears, or both is part of the so called glow. Feeling sick, contemplating births and having the odd good day of eating well is also all glow.

Come on then. Wee in the corner to mark your spot. Have some Brew or Cake or Wine. Then glow.

Hello all,
I'm new to this... 1st baby and first post!!
So hello from an excited, scared and VERY sick first timer :)

Focusfocus · 25/05/2015 11:11

Hi laura7010

Welcome! I'm a first timer too, everything is new! Lots of us on here are having their first babies, have a look at the long list of stats a few pages ago and you'll know who's having a first! Which reminds me, what is your due date?

Thank you for the warm welcome Smile
My EDD is 24th November. I'm sorry if I get my posting etiquette wrong!!
I've had a good look through the thread and thanks everyone for the heads up on the Aldi event, I'll be popping there on Thursday. OH will be pleased, he just sent me a text telling me how much a baby costs! He'd heard it on the news!!
Also wondered if anyone has a tiny car/which pram to get issue like me??

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 25/05/2015 11:50

Ooh Phil and Teds seems popular. For those with one, possibly a daft question, but does the baby mind being in the boot / bottom level?

Also who was it that ran two maternity leaves together? Apologies, my memory has wandered off! I'll have to tell work soonish, I think the limit is 25 weeks. Thinking of phoning my boss if I can't go in person, as email seems not quite the right thing to do?

3rd and last question, does anyone have one of these? I like the look of it for DC2 as it's a seat and a Moses for daytime naps, hoping it'll make life with 2 easier www.amazon.co.uk/Tiny-Love-3-Rocker-Napper/dp/B008VU3A1C

I'm not getting anything until 20 week scan either, although don't want to leave it too late like last time either! I've realised I'm halfway already if I was to go to 36 again. The first trimester drags, then it's just flying by Shock

BowiesJumper · 25/05/2015 12:00

Hello all! Welcome Laura!

Buggy wise I quite fancy the babyjogger city versa as it seems to do everything (easy one piece fold, parent and forward facing, folds quite small etc, massive basket), but haven't seen it in the flesh.

MademoiselleG · 25/05/2015 12:39

Hey Abbey - several people on my fb group bought that baby Rucker thingy and said it was a lot of money for a very short term use...
I accidentally made my first baby purchase on eBay - got one of those newborn sets to clip on the Tripp trapp chair (Stokke) as I put in the starting bid (£45) and no one else bid on it! It's brand new and still in box, with extra protection covers, and Tagalog around £100 I think so not unhappy about it per se but didn't quite intend to buy anything this early!

So city mini then perhaps?

Oddicombe37 · 25/05/2015 13:09

Abbey my younger one didn't mind when he was small, though I often had him in a sling anyway. Once he got to about 12 months he didn't like being in the back, but by then I didn't need a double so much as the older one was 3, and only went in the buggy when he was being lazy.

TwoBeesInTheHive · 25/05/2015 13:25

Abbeyroad I had two back to back maternity leaves then didn't go back after the second.
I also got a Phil and Teds while pregnant, but never actually used it as a double as I got rid of it before ds was born. I hated it! even as a single! didn't get on with the three wheels at all and almost toppled over a few times with dd in, can't imagine I'd have been able to stop it going over if it had two babies in it! I ended up getting a Britax B Dual instead, which although massive, was much more user friendly. I got the adaptor so that I could just click ds' car seat out of the isofix in the car, and straight onto the bottom of the pushchair. made life so much easier. this time I'm not even sure I will use a pushchair as even though mine are only 2.5y and 1.5y, neither of them like the pushchair and prefer to walk. so I'd rather have baby in a sling freeing up my hands to hold onto each of them. rather than ending up pushing a half empty pushchair whilst trying to keep hold of them both.

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 25/05/2015 13:28

Thanks Mademoiselle I was thinking it's expensive but then I'll need a seat and Moses anyway, hmmmmm lots to think about. I might keep my eye out for a bargain just in case.

Thanks Oddicome I'll probably use sling and existing buggy sometimes so can mix and match. Not sure how well / if DS will be walking. I didn't walk until I was nearly 2 and I was an overdue baby so I have a feeling he might be late, but we'll see!

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 25/05/2015 13:33

TwoBees how did your work take it? I'm using my annual leave now so have officially returned, then will go on maternity leave at about 30 weeks. I think I'll have to go pushchair testing. I was fine with the sling for DS quite soon after my section, hopefully it'll be the same this time. Although I'm not convinced they'll let me have a section, or if DS will be walking - so many things to consider! I think I'll research it now and then buy it if I need. Sling and our existing yoyo buggy should be fine whilst DC2 is tiny I hope

roughtyping · 25/05/2015 13:35

Im still on the Great Buggy Hunt for something that'll fit in my Ka. Only thing I've tried so far that fits with nothing coming off is the M&P Armadillo (and I know the Bee does too). Quite like the look of the Armadillo Flip - looks quite similar to the Bee!

Oddicombe37 · 25/05/2015 13:59

Does anyone have a Joolz? They look good but are so expensive!

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 25/05/2015 14:03

Babyzen yoyo folds up really small with a one handed fold - really easy! For those of you with small cars or busy public transport. Only downsides are the basket is small and the handles don't adjust. Neither a problem for me but I've heard shorter women don't like the handle height (I'm 5'7 and its perfect for me)
I'm a little bit in love with it, and gutted they haven't invented a double!

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 25/05/2015 14:08

That armadillo flip looks really like my yoyo rough but possibly slightly cheaper. I had a second hand bee for a while. I know everyone loves them but I found the folding really fiddly and it quite bulky, although there's a newer one out now. I sold it for the same I paid for it luckily

Laura7010 · 25/05/2015 14:10

I have a fiat 500 roughtyping, so like you I imagine choice is limited! I have looked at the Bee, it will do everything and I like it. I'd like to have some more options though. The salesman in John Lewis yesterday tried to convince me anything would fit with a wheel off, which I know is not true. I've been recommended the baby zen yoyo but it doesn't allow a car seat to be attached, the Quinny zapp although I'm not keen on a three wheeler and the icandy peach with a wheel off. In going to go to mothercare and get them to try some in my boot I think. Anyone else have any of these or others they could recommend for a teeny car?!

TakesTwoToTango · 25/05/2015 14:15

Abbey. My baby didn't mind the 'shelf
' at all, seemed to quite like the cosines of it.

Can't remember who was getting daily headaches? I'm getting them too. Had them with dc1 too (girl) but not dc2 ( boy) so think it's a hormone thing. Last time it passed by about 16 or 17 weeks so hopefully not long now. Also, and I don't mean to scaremonger, but I'm glad to know so I can make an informed decision, have you seen the latest studies are suggesting that long term paracetamol use, while necessary in some circs, maybe harmful, particularly to baby boy fetuses? I think they are define 'long term' as a week or more, so might be worth a bit of caution.

roughtyping · 25/05/2015 14:20

Thanks abbey! I love the look of the yoyo but just wasn't sure how sturdy it would be?

laura the armadillo flip says (on the Mothercare website) that it fits in a fiat 500, hope that helps!

tango I am still getting headaches. It's horrendous but like you I read that piece about paracetamol so have been trying to get by with cool patches/4head. Pretty miserable at the moment really. But I like that you're saying 16-17 weeks it might stop - 17 weeks tomorrow!

roughtyping · 25/05/2015 14:21

laura I went to a shop the other day and tried some prams in the boot - armadillo fit in with seat attached, oyster 2 had to take seat & wheels off and same for Quinny buzz xtra. Don't think my boot is even that small really!

BowiesJumper · 25/05/2015 14:30

I looked at the armadillo flip xt in the shop the other day, I did like it. Only thing I was unsure about was the lack of a bumper bar. Those of you with kids already - are bumper bars useful?

Think it's between armadillo flip xt and babyjogger versa for me. Not buying anything for weeks yet obviously! Just enjoying the browsing.

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 25/05/2015 14:39

rough I suppose the yoyo is a bit of a bumpy ride compared to other bigger prams but it sends DS to sleep - I deliberately go over the bumpy bits of pavement like the blind people bits at crossings, ha! I'd say fine for town / city / park but if you're more rural perhaps not as good for off roading. I think its very much a city pram.

roughtyping · 25/05/2015 14:40

bowie I used a Maclaren buggy with DS from 6m+ which didn't have a bumper bar and had no issues with it

roughtyping · 25/05/2015 14:41

abbey I had been getting all worried about needing a pram with big wheels etc as we live near a country park - totally forgetting (as above) that I ditched my big pram with DS as soon as I could and used an umbrella fold Maclaren!

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 25/05/2015 14:47

What's a bumper bar? I'm guessing I don't have one if I don't know what one is!

roughtyping · 25/05/2015 15:46

abbey bumper bar is a bar that goes across the front of the buggy like on this one

www.mothercare.com/Maxi-Cosi-Loola-Pushchair-Travel-System---Mosaic-Blue/psD2355,default,pd.html

I'm just googling to find out what they're for!

SnozzberryPie · 25/05/2015 15:51

Hi all,

Whoever was asking about slings, I have a Manduca carrier and love it. In fact I was carrying 2.5year old dd on my back yesterday with no problems. It's similar to an ergo but I find it a bit more comfortable. I also have a close wrap for the newborn days.

I'm hoping we wont need a double buggy, I plan to keep a sling in the bottom of the buggy and if dd gets tired carry the baby so she can sit in the buggy for a while.

I have a tiny car and a first floor flat so big travel systems aren't really practical for us. We use a lightweight buggy around town and a sling for country walks.

Welcome to all of the newbies!
