November 2015 ladies! Time to feel the glow!

Are you expecting a babe in November this year? If so, get ready to get glowing. Breaking out in spots, or tears, or both is part of the so called glow. Feeling sick, contemplating births and having the odd good day of eating well is also all glow.

Come on then. Wee in the corner to mark your spot. Have some Brew or Cake or Wine. Then glow.

Hi everyone

Flying, great news on your scan, must be a worry off your chest ...

Re hormones, I haven't had bouts of tears but gosh, do I lose my temper fast!!! I'm usually a pretty calm and composed person but last few days I snap at everything and everyone, very short fuse indeed. Feel bad for dd as I'm not as patient as used to beBlush

Anyone gone back to eating loads of junk especially in the evenings? I'm getting through boxes of biscuits and packs of crisps and the likes in no time... While I didn't put on any weight in first trimester, I'm already 4 kg heavier this monthShock

Does anyone have the Theraline pillow? If so which one as I seem to find all different prices but not sure what differences are between pillows, and also are you happy with it?
Finding it so difficult to get comfy at night.
And same here re pain in hips and turning non stop!

cryingbabymess · 01/06/2015 19:56

Can't remember who was speaking about sore nipples but randomly my friend last night told me that once babies born, to sooth your sore nipples, cold lettuce leafs apparently work. She said she sometime put them in the freezer so they were super cold and they helped her! Random but maybe worth a try?

Laura7010 · 01/06/2015 19:58

I'm a hormonal mess today!! Cried at the doctors, cried in work and burst into tears when I got in my car at the end of the day! Think I'm sick of feeling (and being) sick :( oh when are those glory days of blooming we were promised??

On the plus side, like others I think I feel some flutters. Mainly at night when in lying on my back. Let's hope I'm not imagining it! :)

I hope everyone else's hormones don't get the better of them too much.

cryingbabymess · 01/06/2015 20:11

I was reading all your crying posts thinking wow I'm surprised I've not cried for a while however I've just watched a video on FB of Gary Barlow crashing a wedding and sobbed a bit then I'm looking on IG and bubbled at nothing!!! Cryingbabymess is back!!!! GrinShockWink

rebbles · 01/06/2015 20:18

ChicBabyP my appetite has come back with a vengeance! I have gone straight back to craving choc and sweets again after 17 weeks off!

PooSweats84 · 01/06/2015 20:31

I need to find myself a yoga class sharpish I think to help with all this pain in my hips, and also discovered Argos are selling those long pregnancy pillows for less than a tenner today, so I know where I'll be heading tomorrow! Thanks for the advice on the exercises to try, I'll give it a go later!

ehealy · 01/06/2015 20:44

No flutters for me yet at 17 weeks but all of a sudden I am huge! Definite baby bump so happy to show it off and even got a seat on the tube! I have been told by best friends to start creaming my nips now with Lansinoh to prep for breastfeeding. I'm already lathering boobs and bump in bio oil and my nether bits in almond oil. I've never been so well moisturised! Booking hynobirthing classes soon and my nhs card for free dentistry turned up today. Testing buggies with Mum tomorrow. 5 months to go!

cryingbabymess · 01/06/2015 20:50

Now I'm bubbling at the new nationwide advert with the dad and scarf....anyone seen it? Confused

TakesTwoToTango · 01/06/2015 21:03

After birth it's Savoy cabbage leaves in your bra that apparently are the best (some chemical in that type of cabbage that helps to relieve engorgement I'm told). No idea if that would work now??

cupcakesam84 · 01/06/2015 21:15

Alittlebit, aww bless you! Totally sympathise! Crying, strangely I was moaning about it to the lady who works at the cafe at work & she said about cold cabbage leaves helping!! Anything is worth a try!
Someone mentioned the long pillow from Argos: ive got one & it's great! It didn't come with a pillow case though but my mum found one, I'll ask her where from Grin

I've just watched The Best of Me & burst into tears several times, I also cried on the bus for no reason! It would be ok if I had a bump but I was getting strange looks lol!

mrswishywashy · 01/06/2015 21:33

Pretty sure I'm leaking milk, when I wake up in the morning it's on my nipple. Wonder if I should ask midwife or I'm been too paranoid. Seventeen weeks here and my boobs are huge am hoping bump will show more soon, I can feel it but it's not noticeable.

flyingsprocket · 01/06/2015 21:41

ehealy am all over the bio oil on the belly & boobs but what's the almond oil for?? Blush

Dixiebell · 01/06/2015 21:48

I had awful nighttime hip pain with both my last two pregnancies. This time round I have bought a memory foam mattress topper early on int he hope it staves off the pain...none yet but we will see! Pillow between legs is worth trying. Also silky/satiny sheets and/or pjs to make turning over easier. I found that sleeping more upright propped up with pillows eased the pressure a bit but not the most conducive to a good night's sleep. I asked my GP last time hoping for some referral to physio or something and he suggested sleeping pills Hmm.

Gr33dyeggs · 01/06/2015 22:13

flying I think the almond oil is for perineal massage - its supposed to help reduce the need for stitches (&or intervention?)

TakesTwoToTango · 01/06/2015 22:15

Mrswishywashy it could well be colostrum. You can get some comfy maternity sleep bras and I'd recommend lansinoh disposable breast pads, if you want/have enough to need to soak it up. Might be worth putting a couple in your handbag too if you find you are a 'leaker'.

Topsy34 · 01/06/2015 22:22

I Had a dream genii in my first oregnancy, it was good, along with a few extra pillows i was really comfy!

Got my 16 week appointment on Wednesday, cant decide whether to take ds, he is nealy 6, and so excited, i thought it might be nice for him to come along and meet the mw as we are home birthing, it will be her there.

austengirl · 01/06/2015 22:56

Thank you for the welcomes upthread. I was nodding along to many of the comments about gender neutral clothing. While we will probably find out to make narrowing down a name easier, it won't affect how the nursery gets decorated, or that I'll still buy neutral babygros.

Guybrush I cycle a couple of miles a day as part of my commute. So far I haven't had any major issues, but I have a very girly padded saddle. I'd definitely swap out your racing one for the hybrid and see if that helps

annatha · 01/06/2015 23:00

Silky PJs are essential later on when turning in bed is a 5 point maneuver! Not so great when breastfeeding though, dd kept slipping down my lap.

Gr33dyeggs · 02/06/2015 07:20

Morning all. Are people finding the bloating has gone? I'm measuring the same morning and night. Much comfier too!

Unthoughtknown · 02/06/2015 08:01

I think I'm getting confused between bloating and bump! More bump less bloating now I think.

Starting to get more uncomfortable in bed now, extra pillow against bump is helping. I have the weirdest dreams though.

Did anyone use perianal massage in their first pregnancy? I think it might be a bit of a hard sell getting dp to help out but I'm willing to give it a go.

ehealy · 02/06/2015 08:09

flyingsprogget indeed apparently a little massage of almond oil helps. Whilst I can still reach I am doing it myself. It's my first baby so every little helps. Also I read a bath during labour is good so that your skin goes wrinkly and stretchy. Doing my pelvic floor muscles as I type!

flyingsprocket · 02/06/2015 09:01

Ok so, things I have to google today, perineal massage, lochia, lasinoh. Or I could go back to burying my head in the sand Blush

guy maybe your hybrid bike would be a more comfortable, upright position. Is there different advice re twin pregnancies & exercising?

Frescoed · 02/06/2015 09:34

Might have to join you on the googling front flying, I haven't the faintest idea about any of that stuff....

I haven't had any movements I don't think, but the last couple of days I've had some epic stomach rumbling/burbling - the kind you can hear as well as feel, which is making me friends in the office....

Also, very strange dreams Hmm

Crumbelina · 02/06/2015 10:10

Morning all,

Just catching up on the thread - work is awful at the moment and I have no time for anything. Feeling slightly overwhelmed as I have nothing for the baby, I'm not doing much work on my wreck of a house and I'm not keeping up with this thread! Work should get better next week though and I'm so tempted to play the pregnancy card given that I'm so tired.

On a brighter note, I have my 20 week scan this Friday! Definitely finding out the sex and can't wait. No time to be nervous either as I'm presenting to senior government officials on Thurs (that'll make me nervous enough!).

Ooh, and I had a full on baby movement this morning whilst lying in bed. I've only had subtle flutters up until now (19+3) but I felt a big stretch which surprised the hell out of me. I felt the bump and could clearly feel 2 distinct mounds - most likely the head and bum sticking out. It felt amazing and scary (first baby an' all).

GoEasyJulia · 02/06/2015 10:15

I'm finding I'm a bit less bloated, only 14 weeks here so I don't have much of a bump yet.
Still really tired though. Has anyone got their energy back yet or is it just a myth.
