November 2015 ladies! Time to feel the glow!

Are you expecting a babe in November this year? If so, get ready to get glowing. Breaking out in spots, or tears, or both is part of the so called glow. Feeling sick, contemplating births and having the odd good day of eating well is also all glow.

Come on then. Wee in the corner to mark your spot. Have some Brew or Cake or Wine. Then glow.

Got 16 week appointment tomorrow. Been feeling really faint all day today and headachey I think it's my low blood pressure :( any tips?

ChicBabyP · 26/05/2015 21:14

Gosh, so much been going on, just finished catching up!!

Congrats on all the nice scan news. And sorry to hear so many of you are still feeling sick and headachy... I sympathize with the headaches as I get them too and I also try not to take any paracetamol for them but after a few days it becomes unbearable.

Loving the whole pram discussion! After much research before dd was born we decided to go for the joolZ and were very happy with it. Great city pram, on public transport etc. easy to fold as you don't have to remove the seat to fold which was a huge selling point for us. Downside was the small shopping basket but I have to admit that we bought the XL shopping net to hang on the pram and never used it in the end (still in its box) as I managed perfectly fine without it. That said, we also got a city mini (all presents from combined family by the way, could never have afforded it otherwise!) and dd loved it so much at around 18 mths that she never went back to the joolZ. The seat is wider and therefore more comfortable I'd think. It's such an easy stroller though and so easy to fold with one hand.

Now I don't know what to do as I guess we'll have to sell our joolZ which was originally an investment for however many kids we'd have. But with twins I have to get a double one and I HATE all of them!!!
The side by side ones are huge and the tandems are mostly one sitting under the other almost on the floor which I really don't like ( sorry I know many of you have been raving about Phil and teds and the like, but it's just my personal taste). Also, the costs are phenomenal! The only one I'm maybe considering is the city select. Has anyone got that one? I've seen only a few around (once with baby carricots and once with toddler seats) and it looks relatively ok. Honestly can't get excited about any of them... Help!!

15+5 and I think I felt first flutters last night, although nothing today so not sure anymore...

Karmanna13 · 26/05/2015 21:31

Unthought, I also love Freja. It would have made it on to my short list if it wasn't for the fact that I used to have two pet rats called Freja and Ronja. I have probably wasted about 10 of my favourite girl's names over the years on rats! Grin

annatha · 26/05/2015 21:38

heir and doomclaw I had the quad test last pg and I'm having it again on Monday. If I remember rightly its just the same as a normal blood test. There are more vials of blood at the end (If you're brave enough to look!) but it felt the same as any other as once the blood is flowing... Eugh. Envy

We've picked both a girls and boys name, but I wanted to keep them quiet in case we (I) changed our minds later on but DH has told everyone. When we first talked about having babies years and years ago we both loved the name Ava, and decided that if we had a girl that would be her name. DH told everyone this when we found out I was pregnant. When we found out the gender at the 20 scan I felt awful telling him I didn't like it anymore, and when we introduced my dd to family and friends people kept calling her Ava even though its not her name. Gahhh. I'm already starting to go off our current choices so I imagine we'll have the same problem this time.

annatha · 26/05/2015 21:39

karmanna I love the name Jasmine but DH had a staffy called Jasmine when he was a kid!

roughtyping · 26/05/2015 21:43

bowie I have a BMI of 30 so maybe that's why? Another reason to be embarrassed about my weight! Happy days Sad

annatha · 26/05/2015 21:56

roughtyping I'm ashamed to say that mines a fair bit higher than 30 but last pg we heard the heartbeat from 16 weeks and at every appointment after Hmm no mention of it this time though, but we are in a different town. I've noticed a huge variance in my antenatal care after moving so that might be something to do with it.

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 26/05/2015 23:16

I'm finding it hard with double buggies too. A side by side will be too wide for my needs, so ruled those out. Phil and Teds I like but I'm a bit unsure about the baby in the boot. I know someone with City Select and that's a potential but she said it's like driving a lorry. Another friend has the bugaboo double and it's so heavy (and expensive)
So think it's between Phil and Ted's and city select but finding it hard to get excited about either!

TakesTwoToTango · 27/05/2015 00:55

Abbey, the mountain buggy side by side is narrower than some singles, fits through a standard doorway etc. not cheap but maybe worth a look?

GuybrushThreepwoodMP · 27/05/2015 05:33

Chic I've got the city select for my twins. Mostly because I found a local second hand one with two carry cots, two car seats with bases, two seats, two rain covers, two foot muffs all for £400 which seemed too good to pass up. Obviously haven't used it yet.

We spent an hour in kiddicare tying it lots and it was between the City Select and the Out n About which is fairly narrow for a side by side and very manoeuvrable. Only reason we preferred the city select in the end was because we thought it would get through all doors easier and because babies can face us rather than having to face out. I remember when dd was really tiny, I had the urge to check on her every 5 minutes to see if she was still alive. Much easier with inward facing!

GuybrushThreepwoodMP · 27/05/2015 05:35

rebbles I frequently have the same (low blood pressure). I'm just making sure I drink plenty and adding salt to food (which is I think what you advised me last week!).

Laura7010 · 27/05/2015 06:55

Is it just me that wakes up at stupid o'clock in the morning??!

cryingbabymess · 27/05/2015 07:19

Laura my alarm goes off before 6 every morning so no, not just you although mine for the moment isn't by choice! Confused Lol.

tootsroots · 27/05/2015 07:23

I just fed baby a croissant and a piece of heavily buttered toast! How am I not gaining weight!!!!!!

You are all so lucky - dh refuses to talk names or allow ( seriously how old am I!) any baby shopping until 7months!!!!

Amyyy27 · 27/05/2015 07:29

I'm an early riser too! I used to be a 7am waker pre - pregnancy but baby likes to wake me up at 5am every single day. . Maybe in preparation!

roughtyping · 27/05/2015 07:57

annatha that makes me feel a bit better Smile maybe I just have a super cautious midwife!

Unthoughtknown · 27/05/2015 08:00

toots mine is the same, no name talk until 20 weeks and we (hopefully) know the sex.

BowiesJumper · 27/05/2015 09:05

roughty no I think she meant way higher than 30 don't worry!

annatha · 27/05/2015 09:53

I meant that my Bmi is higher than 30 but the midwife found the heartbeat easily at 16 weeks without me even asking her to, it just seems to be common practice in Cumbria but not so much in County Durham.

Laura7010 · 27/05/2015 09:54

5.30 every morning, body clock thinks I need to be wide awake!! Never mind the various trips to the loo in the night! Oh well, in training I suppose...

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 27/05/2015 10:43

They wouldn't try to find the heartbeat at my appointment either, but they did last year (different hospital though) perhaps it's just a change in policy?
Thanks for all the pram advice, being a lover of tiny prams isn't going to work with a double is it? Grin

StAlphonsosPancakeBreakfast · 27/05/2015 12:06

Had my 16 week appointment today and my very nice midwife found the heartbeat within less than a second, I think we just got very lucky. As soon as she mentioned listening I said I understood it might not happen, and she actually sounded really relieved, as she says she always feels terrible when she can't find it and women end up being worried. But it was lovely to hear, particularly now that my symptoms are gone - and so strong!

I am ignoring all talk of shopping for stuff, I'm pretending I don't have to do any of that. Grin

flyingsprocket · 27/05/2015 12:23

stalph am also ignoring all talk of prams & shopping and I too had my 16 week appointment today & heard a heartbeat which was so lovely! high 5

heloharris · 27/05/2015 12:35

We need to move house over the summer. Our little flat isn't big enough for the two of us and our junk let alone a baby and all of its junk. But we're loathe to move so we are putting off doing anything about it.

At this rate the baby will have a bedroom and we'll be on the sofa!

It's mildly stressing me out because then I have to move hospitals and don't know where to sign up for antenatal classes - but I'm pretending none of it is happening. Head in sand.

Unthoughtknown · 27/05/2015 12:42

Had a big craving for something super spicy. So I'm currently on my lunch hour eating the spiciest box of noodles I could find. Hello heartburn. When is everyone going to start buying stuff? I've told dm 20 weeks.
