November 2015 ladies! Time to feel the glow!

Are you expecting a babe in November this year? If so, get ready to get glowing. Breaking out in spots, or tears, or both is part of the so called glow. Feeling sick, contemplating births and having the odd good day of eating well is also all glow.

Come on then. Wee in the corner to mark your spot. Have some Brew or Cake or Wine. Then glow.

I always thought I would struggle with boys names, but I've thought of one which I adore and three which I like. Girls names I always thought would be easy, but I am really struggling as a lot of the ones I like are a bit ::whispers:: chavvy. Something I am keen to stay away from as I'm a bit chavvy myself. I have been looking at more European sounding names, and so far my front runner is annika. Don't think that will be to everyone's taste though (my family are a rather opinionated bunch).

cryingbabymess · 26/05/2015 13:11

Focus, mine gets tears thrown at him all the time too! He did something last week and I just burst into tears and he was like oh no no no and apologised over and over again!

Amyyy27 · 26/05/2015 13:16

laura yeah I am now on cyclizine. My first tablet didn't work either, I can't remember what it was called but it was a melt in the mouth one that just made me worse! I hope those who say it eases over the next few weeks are right!

Thank you abbey and bowies x

Welcome alittle , and well done on being so organised! Do you mind me asking which pram you are going for?

CoffeeTwo · 26/05/2015 13:19

We've picked our names already. Our girls name is the same from when I was pregnant with DS. Both names are slightly unusual but not weird unusual. Our traditional parents might raise their eyebrows but it's tough it's our baby Grin

NoMoreSashimi · 26/05/2015 13:19

Sorry for everyone feeling sick, I'm 18 weeks now and it's slightly better, but no way gone.

We went to get a private scan this morning. I was quite unhappy with my 16 weeks appointment and generally scared about baby's development, as I also haven't gained any weight and can't feel a thing. But everything is fine, the scan was well worth the money. The doctor was so patient and friendly, she explained everything in so much detail. I've got an anterior placenta, so she said it will take more time until I feel baby kick. That was massively reassuring. We also got a DVD of the scan and lots of pictures. Very happy today Smile

HeirToTheIronThrone · 26/05/2015 13:23

We have middle names weirdly - all family names, I think that's what a middle name should be. But it's too hard!

Karmanna13 · 26/05/2015 13:27

Unthought, I like it! Good Swedish name! If you need any inspiration I have a list as long as my arm of Swedish / Norse names, seeing as I'm Swedish. Grin

Amyyy27 · 26/05/2015 13:41

NoMore Glad you had a great scan :) We have a private one booked for 18 weeks and can't wait!

Karma my OH has said he would love a Norse name. In fact he is insisting upon Odin for a little boy but I really can't get used to it!

cryingbabymess · 26/05/2015 13:43

I've got a middle name if it's a boy as it's sort of a tradition in OH's family! Just need a first name now!

Blueblink · 26/05/2015 13:50

Hello ladies, we had a scan this morning which was just wonderful! I'm 15+5 but baby is measuring 16+2 which is probably why i've been feeling so tired and rubbish over the past few days - we've been on a growing spirt! My parents came to this one with us as its an extra one and they just loved seeing thier first grandchild! My mum filmed quite a bit of it for us too which is just amazing I keep watching it over and over again! As soon as they turned on the 3D scanner baby quite proudly turned over and spread HIS legs for all to see! I didn't want to find out what we were having but in all honestly I am just absolutley over the moon! It also helps us in terms of names as we had much more girls names than boys names so it narrows things down quite alot for us!

I notice a few other ladies have been struggling with headaches! mine have just started over the past few days and today is really quite bad! I've been trying to avoid taking paracetamol but i think i might have to go in for some later if this doesn't shift (although i'm sure it won't touch it!)

Also loving the Pram/Buggy talk. Haven't got a clue where to start looking!

Amyyy27 · 26/05/2015 13:56

Blue Glad you had a lovely scan :) bet your parents were over the moon!! I've been suffering with headaches for a couple of weeks, paracetamol has never worked for me anyway, but what I have been using to take the edge off are migraine gel strips you put on your head, they have been a godsend!!

SnozzberryPie · 26/05/2015 14:13

Quick question: I am only 12.5 weeks but am feeling what feels like kicks, is this possible?

I didn't have them till 20ish weeks last time but I had an anterior placenta and better stomach muscles

BowiesJumper · 26/05/2015 14:22

I think you feel them earlier with 2nd (and subsequent) pregnancies so it's entirely possible Snozz!

I think I'm feeling a few wriggles (17+1), but I'm unsure... could be me needing the toilet Grin

There's a place nearish to us called the "baby barn" (not a barn full of babies I hope) where we might go to peruse lots of different buggies/prams before making a final choice. I'm reluctant to get a big heavy thing that only gets used for a few months though.

NoMoreSashimi · 26/05/2015 15:30

Thank you Amyyy, so good to see the wee one!

For all of you with headaches: have you tried keeping a food diary? I suppose it's mostly to do with pregnancy hormones, but some foods can make it a lot worse. I've had to stop eating some spices as they gave me headaches.

Oddicombe37 · 26/05/2015 15:48

I can't believe we are all nearly 4 months already.

heloharris · 26/05/2015 16:08

I love the look of the Joolz prams too Oddicombe37 - and not just the look, they sound pretty good as well. DH is keen on an all black number for some reason - perhaps he's thinking Darth Vader - anywho, they are bringing out a Joolz Geo Mono in all black in July. The Geo has a bigger shopping basket than the Day and can also be transformed into a duo buggy if you pop another one out quickly! I'll have to look for a discount code (and a big one mind) for us to get it.

I was supposed to be going to the ballet with my parents tonight but I've had to call my mum and cry off which I am so annoyed about. I hate feeling like I have a bleeding hangover every single day without fail. Sick. Headache. Cold. Hot. Hungry! And I've been a real cow at home. Poor DH. But he says he doesn't mind, it's all part of the fun apparently. I don't think I've cooked him a meal in a month but I am loving the role reversal!

I'm off to search for the mythical "glow" or just another packet of Jammie Dodgers......

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 26/05/2015 16:10

Yeah, 4 months here. It started flying and now is dragging again as I approach the next scan.

Just booked on to the VBAC course (even though I don't want a VBAC!) as I have to do it before seeing the consultant. I'm very nervous about VBAC, and they don't seem keen on letting me have an ELCS as there's no medical reason I'm told. Although I thought a previous emergency was a medical reason?

Unthoughtknown · 26/05/2015 16:49

karma I love Swedish names. I have been looking at the top ten lists for Sweden, Denmark and Germany as main sources of inspiration for potential girls names (love alina and freja as well).

mrsscarlettbutler · 26/05/2015 16:53

All this talk of prams makes me want to bury my head in the sand! I generally like to do LOTS of research before buying big items and I just know the pram buying will be no exception. I'm going to wait until later in the summer I think to even start looking into it - but lots of good tips here which I shall come back to!

Am having a bit of a rubbish day today. Feeling really sick again, which means I've just eaten crap in a bid to get rid of it. So now I feel guilty that the poor baby has had a diet of yum yums, wotsits and quavers all day. I keep seeing all these blogs about how to eat when you are pregnant, with these quite smug looking glowy women who seem to manage to elegantly eat quinoa salads and organic vegetable soups all through their pregnancy. Whereas I've been mainly living on pot noodles and pasta with pesto. Do they just not feel sick?!

Plus then work has been annoyingly stressful and I just don't feel as equipped to deal with it as I normally would. Find myself wanting to go to the loo and cry, or else just quit on the spot so I can hide in bed all the time. Neither of which are viable options!

roughtyping · 26/05/2015 17:42

4head is also good for headaches. Smile

Had 16 week appointment, didn't get to hear heartbeat Sad but it was all fine. Such a non-event reallyHmm

Apparently a parent guessed I'm pregnant today Shock very surprised!

HeirToTheIronThrone · 26/05/2015 18:34

MrsScarlett my baby today has had 2 packets of crisps, a chicken sandwich and a chocolate orange bar... Attempted a banana to help balance it a bit but it made me want to vom! I have found that a smoothie has been a good way of getting some fruit it, it doesn't make me heave like fresh fruit has been doing, maybe to do with the texture?

I have quad blood tests tomorrow morning due to this pea refusing to get in the right place for the nuchal test at the scan. Has anyone else had them, not sure what to expect - obviously they'll take blood, but lots? And anything else?

CoffeeTwo · 26/05/2015 19:26

Heir mine is on Friday for the same reason. Will be watching with interest!

BowiesJumper · 26/05/2015 19:45

Oo the joolz ones are nice aren't they. Fairly expensive though!

If I was going for a biggun I think I'd go uppababy vista, which is a bit cheaper but still pricey. The cost of a new bugaboo bee too! Deary me.

Heir hope it goes well tomorrow! Make sure you're hydrated, makes the blood letting easier Grin

I didn't get heartbeat at 16wk either roughty boooo. My sister (midwife) said she always has a go in her 16wk appointments unless the lady has a very high bmi (which I don't) so it's a bit annoying!

doomclaw · 26/05/2015 20:19

Heir my quad test is tomorrow for the same reason. Hope it's just a straight forward blood draw. Have they told you how long the results will take?

doomclaw · 26/05/2015 20:20

On the subject of names we also have girls names picked but are struggling with boys. I hadn't thought about looking at other countrys most popular lists for inspiration.
