I've got the freezing thing too.

I went and filled in the forms to be referred to the midwife tonight. Got given 2 books by the receptionist, one is called Emma's diary, has anyone else been given that?

Yokyil · 20/05/2015 19:13

loveyoulots my gp gave me Emma's Diary at my appointment last week.
looking my anxiety seems to be getting worse - am 6+5 and scan is booked in for 3 weeks time. But it's going soooo slow! Had nightmares last night about losing baba again - losing my mind Sad

parsnipbob · 20/05/2015 19:39

Looking my anxiety is dreadful, I literally spend all day googling and obsessing and I'm only 4 weeks!

ValancyJane · 20/05/2015 19:49

Finally caught up with this thread... brickie and b&w hope you are both alright.

parsnip If this makes you feel better, I've now got to the stage where I type in a search term to google regarding some pregnancy anxiety, read the forum links that come up, and realise I've already read them all before! Literally all of them!!

I'm 5 weeks tomorrow (yay!) currently absolutely shattered but not sleeping well - keep having odd dreams and then waking up around 4am and struggling to sleep which is NOT like me at all. Cramps have really died down - without going into details I think they may have been more digestive than anything else, peppermint tea seems to have done the trick! No real symptoms at the moment aside from sore nipples, and my boobs have grown a bit - since I'm already a GG cup this terrifies me!!

mrsfazruns · 20/05/2015 19:55

Nausea killing me tonight after thinking I'd had an ok day!! Wretching constantly but no actual sickness which I think would be a relief!!! 6 weeks 2 days of first trimester to go x

AmyFlame1986 · 20/05/2015 20:01

brickie and b&w have got my fingers crossed for both of you.

Wow Valency GG already! boobs are very sore here...

Parsnip I am there with the anxiety. I keep googling everything.

Spoke with the midwife team today. They seemed really lovely. We have an appointment at 7 weeks and we are going to have a scan at 9 weeks because DH has a genetic condition which baby has a 50% chance of inheriting. It's not a horrendous condition but one that we would prefer baby not to have as although DH is 100% healthy he has to have regular hospital check ups!

Am pleased about the early scan! I no things can still go wrong but in my head I'll be relieved when I see that little heartbeat

MelonMelon · 20/05/2015 20:37

parsnip I'm the same! Wish I could enjoy this rather than expecting to miscarry.

valancy Lol that made me laugh as I've clicked on every 5 weeks pregnant search result on Google and YouTube! Just can't get enough information to ram in my head!

Blackandwhitecat3 · 20/05/2015 20:47

Thanks everyone for your crossed fingers.

I've not had any (touches wood quickly) spotting since first thing this morning. I've had some cramping on both sides, but nothing major - all in the same pain band as everything the last 2 weeks. I saw the GP today and she did some checks. I've got a scan at 12 tomorrow.

Keep swinging between positivity that this is going to be ok, and complete panic that I will get more bleeding later.

Brickie really thinking of you too right now.

MelonMelon · 20/05/2015 20:54

Anyone got any ideas on how to avoid a hot tub on a spa day this weekend? There isn't a pool so I'm wondering how to avoid it without the girls noticing and asking questions!

Bovnydazzler · 20/05/2015 20:56

Evening! I phoned up docs today to book 1st appointment (expecting it to be weeks away, I'm not even 5 weeks yet) and receptionistbsaid yes, come in tomorrow. Yikes!
I'm going to ask about abnormally high HCG levels in early pregnancy (clear blue 3+ weeks at 12dpo) as I've clearly done far too much googling and made myself anxious. Worst case cancer of uterus or molar pregnancy, but could be twins or just high levels/wrong dates. I remember getting 1-2 weeks with 1st pregnancy though, and no history of twins. I know massive range from person to person but 3+ weeks range on Clearblue is outside even the outside scores for what people have early on. Crossed fingers it's nothing!! Ridiculous worrying if it's too high, or too low, I know should just be happy it's positive!

I second the exhaustion but also insomnia, I remember that from DC#1 too!

I accidentally had Parmesan today on my bolognese, oops!!

Bovnydazzler · 20/05/2015 20:56

melonmelon, I'm afraid you're going to have to accidentally forget to bring your costume....

MelonMelon · 20/05/2015 21:00

bonvy the spa is 5 minutes from my house so I don't think it'd work!

MelonMelon · 20/05/2015 21:02

What's wrong with parmesan? It's pasteurised isn't it?

Bovnydazzler · 20/05/2015 21:05

melonmelon hmm costume excuse defo won't work then, could you develop an eczema patch (under your costume) which docs say you can't go in hot tubs with (I know nothing on eczema, if you can't guess)...

Oo I thought Parmesan was on the no list, I'll be v happy to be told otherwise!

Blackandwhitecat3 · 20/05/2015 21:05

Melon you have verrucas (awful ones) and don't want to give them to your friends (and make sure you wear flip flops all day)

parsnipbob · 20/05/2015 21:07

Parmesan is fine according to NHS website :)

MelonMelon · 20/05/2015 21:12

Haha! These suggestions have made me chuckle Smile One of my friends already suspects I think as she raised eyebrows at my teetotal behaviour last weekend!

parsnipbob · 20/05/2015 21:36

Luckily for me I don't drink at all so I won't have to dodge suspicion about that.

However, on Fridays I go for sushi at lunchtime with work. I always have salmon and tuna sashimi, how am I going to talk my way out of that one?!

OTheHugeManatee · 20/05/2015 21:43

Melon You could just tell them and ask them to keep it quiet? I ended up telling a friend the other day and asking her to keep it to herself - I hadn't seen her in a while, she was having a housewarming and as I'd recently bailed on something else she invited me to I just didn't feel like I could invent another spurious excuse not to come without looking like I just didn't like her any more. So I told her the truth and asked her not to tell anyone. TBH it felt like a relief, I don't like lying to friends.

I don't really like this hiding it business. Wonder if maybe I should just tell people Confused It's just what if it all ends up going wrong? And also I know once my mum knows she will go NUTS with excitement (it's my first DC and her first GC from a DD rather than a DIL if you see what I mean) and I'm quite enjoying my body not being public property yet. I dunno. I keep telling myself 'just sit on it for a few more days and then see how you feel'. I've got a scan next week Wednesday, maybe I'll see how I feel after that. If all seems well and happy that might be the moment.

MelonMelon · 20/05/2015 22:01

Me and DH are keeping it a secret until after the 12 week scan, eveyones different but this is what we have decided is best for us. I had a miscarriage last year and all our friends know so it's not because we'd keep it a secret if something did go wrong but I'd rather not tell people good news then bad a few weeks later.

I agree it's really hard lying especially to close friends and our parents but it's not for long (I hope!)

mrsfazruns · 20/05/2015 22:06

I'm tempted just to go public!! I work in A&E to most work people know anyway so I don't do any bed moving and heavy stuff and im rubbish at keeping a secret!! And when it went wrong last time I wanted people to know that I had miscarried .... I hated the taboo feeling!!! So if I have a HB at scan tomorrow .... Might just come out x

AlohaMama · 20/05/2015 22:20

parsnip I believe most sushi in uk is made from previously frozen fish, therefore OK to eat. Sadly there is nowhere near me that sells sushi, so not even an issue Sad

CharChar2015 · 20/05/2015 22:23

Mrs melon could you say you had thrush?? A bit tmi but could prevent further questioning !?

brickiemum2 · 20/05/2015 22:30

parsnip advice here about sushi, you may be ok! www.nhs.uk/conditions/pregnancy-and-baby/pages/foods-to-avoid-pregnant.aspx#Sushi

I have a weird symptom that is driving me crackers. For over a week now I get the full build up to a serious sneeze....nose tingling, eyes watering, lose the power of speech, pull funny faces......then nothing, not a thing. It happens at least 10 times a day and it's so unsatisfying. I've tried everything to bring the sneeze on but I'm caught like a rabbit in the headlights. It takes a good minute or two to pass. Random lol Hmm
