Noticed we were getting a bit full in the last thread! Roll up, roll up for more scanning, puking, worrying and other distractions to take us through the first trimester! Grin

shinysparklythings · 24/05/2015 10:24

chops that was my thoughts too. I would expect 5/6 dresses for that price!

Not missing alcohol, but not a big drinker, think it will be harder when it's warm in summer, and the wine/bulmers/cocktails are calling.

It's rainy here today so I'm in my pjs under a duvet on the sofa whilst dh is out cycling! Currently trying to get my laptop to connect wirelessly to my tv so I can watch a dad on the big screen.

FlorIxora · 24/05/2015 10:43

I didn't recommend it as a great bargain. HellsBells asked what I bought and I answered. I do a badly paid job. I don't have children and I like clothes. So now and then I do a big spend.

shinysparklythings · 24/05/2015 10:50

flor I wasn't having a go! It is a lovely dress! Each to their own. I hate clothes and clothes shopping, sothat amount of money seems crazy to me! However some people would have a heart attack with the amount of money I've spent on kitchen things!

FlorIxora · 24/05/2015 10:57

Shiny When I lived in the Caribbean I couldn't walk into a Williams Sonoma (really swanky american version of Lakelands) without going bonkers. I know my shopping at All saints days are coming to an end. :( As you say, each to their own, I have friends who spend all their money on cycling stuff - I couldn't fathom it. :)

shinysparklythings · 24/05/2015 11:07

My husband is a very well behaved cyclist! The people he cycles with all have several bike that are more expensive than his, but he makes do for the good of our family unit. I have told him to spend his bonus this year on a new bike as once bean is here spare money will be a thing of the past! He really is the loveliest!

We don't have a lot of money, we have saved a long time to buy our house and now have enough disposable income to have children. not that you can ever really have enough we have nearly been married for 5 years but wanted to make sure we were secure before starting our family.

FlorIxora · 24/05/2015 11:26

That's a lovely idea for your husband. I have a similar good egg at home. :)

abi2790 · 24/05/2015 11:27

I had lemonade flora. You can sort of pretend it's vodka haha. I must admit I do enjoy waking up not feeling hungover!

I didn't get to sleep until after midnight last night so I was dreading this morning when ds woke up but he slept till 8! That is such a lie in for me!

It's rainy here so spending the day indoors with my lounge pants on Grin

chopsface · 24/05/2015 11:31

We've been married 7 years (where did it go?!) and started ttc after 5 when we felt financially stable and our house was done up. If I'd have known it was gonna take so long we would have started sooner! Lol! Now I'm old and grey and tired! I know people who had a baby in their late teens and then another in their 30's and they've remarked how much easier it was to be preg young!

I'm also not a clothes person. I wear the same t shirts and jeans for years until they fall apart. And I'm reluctant to spend much on stuff I will only be wearing for half a year! I don't plan on having any more children so its not even an investment for a 2nd pregnancy. I think they do try and rip off pregnant ladies though by charging more!

WaitingForEgg · 24/05/2015 12:11

FlorIxora My tastes are similar to yours so I don't think you are crazy! My favourite new sites to look on are Seraphine and Isabella Oliver, such beautiful maternity clothes!
My DH regularly has small panic attacks when he looks at receipts, but I doubt it's going to last long with our revised baby inclusive budget. Something I find helpful is ebeying bits I no longer wear. Saves space and gets some money together for next purchase

hellsbells552 · 24/05/2015 14:12

I'm all about cost per wear and I particularly like All Saints clothes - and boots - because they last me forever! But I also do a lot of ebay shopping Smile

Withalittlesparkle · 24/05/2015 16:52

Flor - yes my dress fitted thankfully, although was a little more busty than I'd anticipated, apparently I've gone up a couple of sizes this week (or I've worked wonders with the tit tape)

I missed whether you ladies are shopping for special occasions but I'm a new look maternity girl, this weekend with the exception of my bm dress I've been living in a black maxi dress from new look, generous length and fit, £17.99!

Hummingbird15 · 24/05/2015 17:27

Hi everyone. I'm in Bath this weekend with DH for a little birthday/anniversary break which has been really nice. Was a novel experience sticking to tap water at a nice meal out last night, I'm turning into a cheap date!

FlorIxora · 24/05/2015 18:47

Humming I love Bath, i'm jealous (well i have only been once but it was so relaxing and lovely!) I had a virgin cocktail last week for a meal out, it made things more festive for me.

So I find I am baking a lot more than usual and really enjoying it. Early bout of nesting?
Anyone else doing more homely stuff?

abi2790 · 24/05/2015 19:05

evening ladies.

Is anybody suffering with hip pain yet especially those who already have a child? I suffered with spd with ds. It didn't come on till 20+ weeks and I got physio straight away and it went by about 32 weeks. Last night I got quite bad cramp in my hips and thought nothing of it till this afternoon where my right hip and lower back going down my leg is in agony! I've dug out my maternity pillow and going to have a bath and get my hot water bottle out but I don't know whether to phone epu or leave it till Tuesday when I can see a gp. I've took paracetamol and it's not done anything. Do I take some codeine in a couple of hours or just put up with it? I can't get comfortable because of the pain especially when lying on back Sad

Cherrypie5 · 24/05/2015 21:27

Hi everyone. I'm new to mumsnet, hope you don't mind if I join this thread :) I'm 31, 1st baby due around 14th Dec, impatiently waiting for the date for my first scan as I'm almost 11 weeks!
I just wondered if anyone else's symptoms have pretty much gone at 10/11 weeks? I don't really feel pregnant at the moment and part of me is convinced when I finally get scanned there will be nothing in there and this has been some crazy dream!

TerryTheGreenHorse · 24/05/2015 23:31

Hi Cherry,

I think that's very common! Don't worry.

I have been rubbish keeping up with the thread, I haven't had my scan date through yet so still not feeling too real.

Hope your all ok, and enjoying the bank holiday weekend. At least it's bloody nice weather for a change, I was despairing!

shinysparklythings · 25/05/2015 07:32

abi I had really bad hip pain for a few days a couple of weeks ago but they are ok at the min! This is my first baby so nothing to base it on. I have dodgy joints at the best of times (3 operations on my knees) so not looking forward to getting bigger.

cherry symptoms coming and going seems to be pretty standard. Day before yesterday my nausea was about the worst it's been, then yesterday it felt almost good! I'm 12+2 and have my scan on weds so hopefully I'll be able to relax after that if everything is ok.

Hope you are all enjoying the extra day off! Grin

Hummingbird15 · 25/05/2015 07:39

abi sorry to hear you're suffering with your hips, as I haven't had it I have no advice to add just wanted to say I have fingers crossed it's a blip for you and not full blown spd here to stay. And cherry I think it's really common, but hope you get your scan date through very soon.

chopsface · 25/05/2015 08:03

Morning ladies!

Welcome cherry! Hope you hear about a scan soon. Maybe you should start chasing it up? sorry you've got hip pain Abi can physio help do you think? There is still a good long while to suffer like this :-(

I'm now 10+1 and my nausea has really ramped up this weekend after I thought I was getting better last week! It's so inconsistent! I was virtually eating normally again last week now I'm groaning on the sofa saying "i don't know what to do or eat!" Bank Hol weekend wasted! Waned to go shopping for new bras as I finally have a bit of a size increase and all my bras are underwired and digging in.

abi2790 · 25/05/2015 08:23

Thanks everyone. It's a little better but will probably get worse throughout day due to having a lazy 2 year old! chops I had physio last time and it really helped me but it was never as sore as this. Hopefully it'll go away but I will make an appointment for tomorrow with my gp since I don't see my midwife now till 16 weeks. At least I have my scan on Friday to look forward to! Although I'm probably more scared than excited!

Welcome cherry Smile. I'm 11+6 and my nausea has been on and off for weeks. My tiredness probably started to ease off last week. My boobs are still sore though. Although they have never been really sore just tender. So I wouldn't worry about symptoms going Smile

Yokyil · 25/05/2015 09:00

chops it's so random! I'll be sitting one minute feeling like normal - and wanting food and by the time the food is ready I can't eat it at all. Have managed yogurt and granola this morning which is a bonus!! Anybody else really dehydrated in the morning Confused
7+3 today - still no scan for another 17 days not that I'm counting Hmm

edinburghdancer · 25/05/2015 09:11

chops I'm with you on the disappearing-reappearing symptoms. Fine all last week. Had to reverse park the car and got hideous motion sickness which didn't go away for hours! Unfortunately, we were having to drive home from Kendal as well so it got worse: lying in the back of the car poking into a poly bag!

edinburghdancer · 25/05/2015 09:16

  • puking (stupid autocorrect!)

I don't miss the alcohol as I've pretty much been sober for 3 years through all the ivf. I do miss it though when I'm the designated driver and everyone thinks it's so funny to spill beer in the car Angry

TheBabyFacedAssassin · 25/05/2015 10:53

Morning everyone! I am very jealous of those of you who get today off, I am sat at my desk trying to get the morning in!

Thanks for the fashion tips, that dress is beautiful hellsbells. I'm going to hit the shops tomorrow and try and get some floaty dresses and leggings that I can wear casually.

Chops we are due date buddies Grin

Yokyil I am dehydrated ALL THE TIME. Which is strange because I always drink oceans of water and still my mouth feels like the Sahara desert.

Abi I have a bit of hip pain, I didn't get it during my last pregnancy but I got it really badly afterwards, my ligaments never seemed to tighten up properly after the birth so my pelvis has a habit of getting displaced every so often. Am booking a physio appointment this week to see if they can give me any advice on how to be extra careful now that everything is going loosen up again!

Have been a bit tearful today, it was bank holiday monday last year that my dd was delivered, have been reliving everything over the weekend and today. The date of her anniversary isn't until tomorrow though it is hitting me today harder than I expected. Thankfully the office is quiet so I can jus have some quiet time. And my colleagues don't mind me shedding a tear every so often - they know how to handle me now - they bring me tea and chocolate Smile

WaitingForEgg · 25/05/2015 12:24

Chops i'm another on the symptom roller coaster. Boobs were agony a few weeks ago, then almost completely find and have now started hurting again, desperately need to get some new bras. Nausea comes and goes day by day but exhaustion has definitely improved.
Sorry to hear about your hip pain Abi hope physio can help
BabyFaced sorry to hear how bad today has been for you, glad your colleagues are looking after you, try to take it easy and not be too hard on yourself
