Glad to hear you're feeling chirpier foxy. Don't apologise for talking about your own stuff on the thread - I think you're the best one for answering everyone else really thoroughly and thoughtfully.

Kitty: I've run alot of parties on my own at school. They're exhausting, aren't they? Did you have much help? And cake?

Went to see Borat the Movie this afternoon. Nearly wet myself (and I think it's thanks to the pelvic floor exercises that I didn't). Has anyone else seen it? The naked fight scene is glorious.

Good luck with your packing Diva.

kitty-you are very brave holding childrens parties.i know i couldnt do it.
i dont know what to do for dd2's birthday.dp doesnt think its worth doing anything as she wont remember it anyway i dont think thats the point...my little princess is going to be 1!
i dont think dp 'does' birthdays.

booboo-i havent seen a good film in ages, but i think im better off waiting till after the birth before i watch anything funny

Hi everyone, I'm newish to MN and am expecting my first child on March 8 (International Women's Day, so got to be a girl if it comes on time, although I haven't found out the sex). I was really glad to find this thread as I don't know anyone locally yet who's expecting exactly the same time as me.

As you can see from the post time, I'm having a little bit of insomnia tonight, but the bump is currently awake and keeping me company.

BTW, can't believe I'm going to miss out on the extra three months paid mat leave - how cruel is that??? Just because the baby's coming slightly too early! For a person who has been late all her life, this strikes me as the ultimate irony....

Going back to bed now, so goodnight to any other sleep-challenged people out there.

Callieco welcome! I am sometimes to be found on here at funny times of the night! One time I was posting at 3ish or sometime and someone popped on and told me to go to bed! It was funny.

Etenna welcome! What's a funny shaped womb? The neck of mine is round the back apparently, causes all sorts of fun at smear tests, sweeps etc! Anyone with big hands and a short arm has no chance

Diva, don't be over doing it! My dh doesn't do birthdays either. It was his yesterday. I rang him up and he had no idea it was his birthday! When he arrives during the week the children and I will be inflicting a party upon him because we want birthday cake!

Fox you didn't need all that money stress and I'm so pleased for you that it can be eased. I also call my children monsters, beasties, creatures from the swamp...

Onilly I have consulted my sis and she uses Rose Elliots recipe for sumptuous carrotcake.
I went shopping with her yesterday and she bought some fantastic stilletto boots, which I wouldn't be able to walk in and I spent all night dreaming about them!

Kitty I'm finding it hard bending over now too so needless to say there are toys, clothes, bits of paper all over the floors. I need to hire a professional picker-upper-and-putter-awayer never mind a doula!

Morning everyone,

Thanks again for all the lovely welcomes!

Sitting here at the laptop reading all the lovely Christmas threads going about just now, although we'll be giving most of that a big miss this year as dh getting made redundant in Feb/March.Great timing huh!

How is everyone today? My lovely wee bundle has taken to breakdancing all night at the moment...lol...hoping this isn't her setting up plans for her sleeping patterns when she's born!

Kitty, to solve any mixups over our names, I am more than happy to be known as Noodle, (which was my first choice name, but had already been taken!)

Rosybumpily · 12/11/2006 11:59

Noodle my dh was made redundant around the time of dd's birth. It was great because he was around all the time! It got harder after a while when he started setting up his own business though. Hopefully it will all work out. At least a new baby will help cheer him up, who needs money!

Diva - don't forget to pack the children too! Last time we moved we found boxes we handn't even unpacked from the time before that . Show you how much rubbish we all drag round with us doesn't it?

BooBoo - thanks for your lovely comment [big hugs ]

Kitty - where do you find these wonderful doulas? Is there doula websites? Do they do hosptal births as well as home births? They sound like a lovely mixure between a midwife who is working for you and the perfect mother!

Rosy - LOL at you dreaming about silletoes!! I'm having really filthy dreams again at the moment! Hey, maybe that's why I don't feel depressed any more

Callieco - Hi and welcome have you put your details onto or stats thread yet? Is this your first? If its a boy, he'll just have to be a New Man won't he?

Noodle - mine is really lively at night too - in fact he seems to be lively most of the time. At our 21 week scan we could get a photo, as he was wiggling too much

Hope everyone else is feeling OK today

24 weeks - according to Prima Baby, they can open their eyes this week and can jump when they hear a loud noise

BTW did I mention I'm in Prima Baby (Nov) page 101, talking about work/life balance?

Yeah Rosy...money ain't everything! Lol, I was worried before about his work and how they'd be over paternity leave...don't have to think about that now anyway! Plus his work is over on the East Coast of Scotland, so hopefully he can get a job closer to home. looking on the whole thing quite positively! lol...also a kick up the bum for me to stop spending money!

Diva, we moved house this time last year, still have a load of unpacked boxes up the loft...which we converted to an extra bedroom that can't be used cos its full of junk! Mostly DH's it has to be said..he's the worst hoarder! I might just sneak up there and follow your example with the kids toys...he'd never know the difference if I binned half of it!

I found my Doula in our local parenting magazine, but I think there is a website called doula uk or something like that.

hello all.

noodle-my dp has been calling me a hoarder.i'm not,its just i dont get a chance to have a clear out that often

fox-im not packing the kids im going to leave them in the cellar.im not really,i just tend to fall out with the older 2 when they arent at school

my bump tends to wake up about 11pm.same time as her dad...just when i want to go to sleep.
i'm really fed up with being preg and want it over with.why do people say the 2nd trimesyer is the easiest?i say its the most boring and drags on and on.

the only dreams ive beem having are about dp being a wealthy businessman(?)who is a complete b*d to all his staff.last night it was the same dream but we were involved in a bus crah and were the only survivors.very strange,i shall have to look up what that means on dreammoods.

hope everybody else is ok

Hello, thanks for the welcome(s).

Got a question which I'll ask here first - does anyone know where you can get trouser expanders ie, the stretchy things for normal pre-pregnancy trousers that give you more bump-room? My sister got some during her pregnancies but when I asked in Mothercare they said they don't do them any more and she can't find hers now to loan me. Any clues?

Fox, this is indeed my first. Where is the stats thread to add my details to?

callieco · 12/11/2006 18:18

Ignore the stats thread question, I've just found it and added myself.

Hi callieco - welcome! Did you find Mumsnet on a search last night? It's such a great resource - there's nothing else like it.

Diva: I'm fed up with being PG too. Shocking really, seeing as it's my first. Just can't wait to meet my little boy and be able to bend over again.

Noodlekitty: can't remember if I've said hello yet. If not: hello!

Fatfox: you're more than welcome

Had a very traditional DINKY day today. Didn't get out of bed till 1pm, then DH put up our new shed while I cooked a roast. Enjoying it while it lasts...

Hi all

Hope everyone has had a good weekend
We are all fine apart from DS who has a big bump & gash on his forehead. He fell off the couch and crashed into the coffee table

Callie - I have seen those trouser things somewhere - maybe bumpto3 or the baby catalogue or nct online?

Report
eidsvold · 12/11/2006 20:59

callieco

do you mean these

had a long weekend - felt like 4 days instead of two. Dd2 had a stomach bug and has been vomiting everywhere since Thursday. Dd1 vomited sat night and then yesterday - she has since gone back to bed this morning. I have done so much washing of towels, bedding and so on.

Dh flies off tonight to Sydney for a conference and won't be back until Thurs night some time. So tired - hope the dds are okay so I can get some rest.

Callieco,

You just posted exactly what was on my mind. I was going to ask if anybody knew of any decent maternity trousers that actually stay up, since I'm well beyond my normal jeans now, and being of the larger persuasion, not to mention 6 ft tall, I am having extreme difficulties finding jeans that fit! I might try these band things, look quite good!

Eidsvold, hope your dd's are feeling better soon and you can get some rest.

Diva, I'm forever calling my dh a hoarder, in reality I'm probably just as bad myself. Although I'm probably more of a buyer...lol.

Morning all, just popped on to check everyone is alright and had a nice weekend.
I'm feeling grim still, so am taking it easy.
Baby moving is keeping me sane.

Oh and for all those with SPD who know that strong drugs are not allowed in preg to help you through it...
Morphine took away every pain, but did not touch the SPD
I cannot wear my support band as it goes over my appendectomy wound.
I am crying a lot.
I hope to god that in a week I'm feeling better. I'm not going to post too much feeling so depressed though, it's no fun

Morning all,

Hope everyone is well!

not had to get any maternity gear as yet, using up "pre-diet" trousers, Ihave one pair my Mother says she's going to temp maternify for me incase I need them for a special/smart occasion!

Had MW appointment last week, all is well, heard heartbeat fro the first time, that was nice, DH couldn't get to the appointment and was "gutted" to have missed it.

Bathroom nearly decorated, 1st coats up on the nursery walls, very neutral as we don't know whether its a pinkie or a bluey!

Welcome to all the new ladies, since I last posted!

Hmmmm carrot cake...

Piffle, I hope you get an easy peasy labour after all this! And an extra cute baby too

Noodle you are tall! I'm 5'8'' and I'm about an inch taller than my dh. Is your dh tall too?
I've got some old mans braces I should be wearing today, my trousers today keep falling below my bump.

Spd hip annoying me. Its always the right one. Its hard to get comfortable at night, I have to lie on my left side. Could be worse though.

Hi Piffle - great to hear from you but you're still feeling so awful. You poor thing I hope it stops hurting soon.

Diva - you inspired me to have a massive clear out as well yesterday - managed to fill two black bin liners with "stuff". I'm feeling all nesty so am using your inspiration to get some things sorted in the house (i.e. the piles of mess everywhere)

Hi everyone else

Rosy, Yep, dh is 6'5...god knows what kind of size this baby is going to be. My family have got bigger with each generation, I have three cousins who are all 6'8-9! Hoping she takes after dh's family who are all normal sized. He looks like a tree standing in the middle of them! Some kind of throwback obviously. :0)
