Thought I'd start a new thread as the other one's about to run out.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
kittyschristmascrackers · 03/12/2006 20:05

good idea Lunar but I haven't got a playpen...... perhaps I should start a new thread in this or perhaps I should try and engage my jelly brain and actually think of a solution

leogaela · 03/12/2006 20:14

Its funny how pregnancy can make you a total recluse isn't it! when pregnant with ds I fought it and was out socialising a lot, but this time I have given in to nature and I am staying close by my nest and the people closest to me as much as possible !

Kitty, good on you for your hair!

i don't think the babies wake me up, but when they are active i certainly can't sleep. Still can't work out what part of which or which one is moving though. I really want to know they have moved to a head down position (I know its early but...), to be more assured of a vb!

Callieco - thanks for asking about ds, he is much better, but sleeping a lot (which meant a lie in until 7.30 this morning :O!), not sure if his chest is completely clear but we have stopped giving him the drugs anyway (I feel guilty everytime we give him something, we don't really know what they are doing to them do we !)

Fox - Ihope you are feeling better, but give yourself a break, flu is bad at the best of times, but on top of that you are pregnant, just take the time off if you need it!

Kitty, last year we had the christmas tree on a stool with a play pen around it, it kept ds away from it. I think a week or so before christmas is way early enough. The people around here seem to really go over the top on the outside christmas lights (and lots were put up before the beginning of december as well), its hideous but great entertainment for ds!

leogaela · 03/12/2006 20:14

Oh sorry, crossed posts!

leogaela · 03/12/2006 20:19

Callieco - your dp sounds like my dh. Hates to throw things away so has to plan where to put everything, and what to throw away which takes forever, he keeps buying more and more cupboards to store more rubbish in which IMO should be thrown away! Thing is most of the junk lying around it his so I can't really do anything with it. Drives me NUTS!!!!

LunarSeasonsGreetings · 03/12/2006 20:47

Our playpen is like this , so more of an octagonal fence really.

kittyschristmascrackers · 03/12/2006 21:08

My knickers are too tight

Today when we took the kids swimming I had to squeeze my fat bum into ds1's 7-8 trunks (he had another pair don't worry ) 'cos i'd left my tankini bottoms at home. OOh, cut off my circulation they did. Still managed a few lengths

harktheheraldfoxessing · 03/12/2006 21:45

Hi everyone - still feeling crap but had a two hour nap this arvo which helped

can't really remember what anyone said... errr:

Kitty I remember something about you swimming in DS's swimming trunks, which is really funny

We used to buy a 4" Christmas and put in on a high surface so the babies couldn't reach it.

Leo - hope your DS gets better soon, poor mite

Callie - was it you tidying out? I do it best when DH, DS and DD are out, otherwise they keep exclaiming "oooh you can't throw that out, that's mine!". Mind you, our house is a domestic slut's paradise, so I shouldn't be giving any tips

Hi everyone else

27 weeks (baby boy)

Rosydingdongmerrily · 04/12/2006 05:34

I've been up every hour-2 hours all night with one or other child. It wouldn't be so bad if this didn't happen every night. I need professional help!! Was suffering despair but to my delight I've noticed festive emoticons!

Rosydingdongmerrily · 04/12/2006 05:36

...

eidsvold · 04/12/2006 06:58

very excited in the eidsvold household - best friend had a baby girl on Sunday. She was due around now but managed to get a nasty stomach bug that brought on labour and that failed to progress so she ended up with an emergency c-section....But baby here and doing well despite her being dehydrated due to stomach bug!!

However she has a little girl. Makes dd2 for her. Her eldest is good friends with my 2. So I am off to see her tonight for a quick visit.

kittyschristmascrackers · 04/12/2006 07:20

Enjoy cuddling the new baby eidsvold

Rosy, poor you , it's so awful when you are kept awake like that. Is there any particular reason why they are waking? is there anything you can do about it?

leogaela · 04/12/2006 08:13

Kitty - you can get into a 7-8 year old swimming trunks! , that is outrageous!!!!!

Rosy, so sorry you are having such bad nights with your little ones.

Congrats to Eidsvold's friend f!!!

Fox - you feeling better (the flu that is, not losing the plot thing, I think we all noticed that before

Rosydingdongmerrily · 04/12/2006 08:43

Kitty you must have a teeny weeny bum! Am impressed that you are getting out swimming.

I think the sleep problems stem from the excema. They have grown out of it (very lucky about that though the remaining allergies are a nightmare)
So anyway ds2 particularly has never learned how to put himself back to sleep when he stirs.

I have been trying to change things but I'm so tired all the time, I can barely function.
Imagine if I don't solve this in the next couple of months!! Going to get no sleep whatsoever when baby comes.

I know I need help with this. My family are very supportive but also very busy! Dh is due up this week and I am going to try and escape to my sis for a night. Probably won't sleep with worry but worth a try!

Eidsvold this nearly happened to my friend this weekend too. I hope your friend feels better soon. Luckily everything settled down again as she is only 36 weeks so better if she hangs on a bit. But I'm going to be so excited when she has the baby too.

I was reading on another thread that apparently the full moon can bring on labour and there's some research that there are more births around fullmoon!! The fullmoon is around the 3rd in March so will be interesting to see if loads of us deliver around then!

Get well soon Fox.
can't remember how many weeks I am! (boy)

kittyschristmascrackers · 04/12/2006 10:21

Rosy, my bum is teeny no more, but i suppose it could be bigger, infact it will get bigger, of that I have no doubt.

I too always seem to have at leat 2 dds waking in the night, not 2 hourly anymore, but there is always someone and I am aware that I sleep so lightly nowadays. For example dd1 crept in last night beacuse her foot hurst fhs. I was immediately aware she was there but was too tired to send her back to bed.

Hope you manage to get some rest soon.

Foxy, I hope you are feeling a little better today

AmieR · 04/12/2006 11:17

I wouldn't get one leg into those trunks! LOL

awayinamuppet · 04/12/2006 11:20

The only way I would be able to fit into the swimming trunks of an eight year old boy would be if the eight year old boy in question was actually the size of a prop forward.

Kitty - hat off to you - you must be TINY!

Interesting info about the full moon - hope we don't all swing into action at the same time...

Eids - my parents are having a blast in Brisbane at the mo - keep sending me texts about how lovely the weather is . Will you do Christmas on the beach?

My dog walks are getting shorter by the day as I get so out of breath - plus I get braxton hicks and stitches... my dog is not impressed.

Hope everyone is well.
26+2 (boy)

leogaela · 04/12/2006 11:52

I have also been told that about the full moon, infact ds was born around a full moon and a day or so later we were told that the the hospital was absolutely full with new borns.

Got mad with ds today , took him out for a walk and as usual he went in all directions except the one we needed to go in, then he wanted me to carry him (NO WAY!), and ended up having screaming fits and throwing himself on the floor f, not really like him. It took us a long, long, long time to get home, a lot of tears and it was probabyl my fault as he was really hungry and I didn't take any snacks out with me. After lunch I tried ot put him into bed but he was just being a pain and i had really had enough so I yelled at him , haven't heard a peep from him since !

Now he is sleeping I'm going down to raid the cupboard for chocolate f!

leogaela · 04/12/2006 11:52

my christmas emoticons haven't quite worked!

Boobooroastingonanopenfire · 04/12/2006 12:00

Muppet - I keep having to stop in the middle of dog-walking for BH contractions too! My dog doesn't mind though - she's good at keeping herself entertained.

Foxy: hope you're feeling better, you poor thing. It's rough not being allowed lemsip, isn't it?

Rosy: so sorry to hear about your disturbed nights. Can you still swaddle them when they're huge? They wouldn't be able to move then.

Kitty: I too am of your teeny bot. Mine's always been on the womanly side.

Congratulations on your friend's baby, eidsvold! Hope your friend is recovering ok.

Leogaela: I too am a pregnant recluse. It started when I was sick, and now I'm just knackered all the time. This pregnancy thing really makes you re-evaluate friendships, doesn't it?

Diva: do you still sing? I love my job. I get to start teaching Christmas songs in September. I'm not really a classical singer: more bluesy really. I mainly teach Musical Theatre.

EDD 3/3 (FULL MOON!)

callieco · 04/12/2006 12:12

Rosy, have you tried putting gin in their milk ? You poor love, I don't know how you're coping - I've found it hard just having sleep interrupted by toilet needs, twitchy legs/bad back and general pregnancy insomnia, never mind having kids to deal with. Going to have such a rude awakening in March I know - help, what have I done????

Foxy, how you feeling? Better I hope.

Eids - congrats to the friend. Her story has made me resolve not to have any contact with the rest of humanity for the four weeks leading up to my EDD just in case...

This is a sneaky back in work post. I was in for 7 and am shattered now. Just can't get my head back into work rhythm, esp as Christmas is coming. I just feel like you should be able to have the three months up to giving birth off, on full pay of course.

harktheheraldfoxessing · 04/12/2006 13:51

Callie - I think PG women should also get disabled stickers for the 40 weeks, so we don't have to carry heavy shopping miles.

Rosy - someone on my local thread had a sleep remedy which you can massage into LOs chests. Apparently its really good. Do you want me to find out what it is?

Halloooooooooooooooo to everyone else, did notice the full moon. Eids - big hugs to your friend and her babe

Feel like pants today (old worn out pants at that) and think both DD and I have bronchitus coming on. I smoked when I was 18 for a year and had the most awful bronchitus. Every year since then I get it in the winter. My grandad died of lung cancer so reckon we have a weak lung gene somewhere.

ooooh feel like pants

anyway, wait until DS sees all these santa emoticons - he'll be on later to check them out

ps went for a GTT test this morning at Queen Charlottes, which was fun as I got to drink Lucazade and read my book for 90 minutes - quality reading time

MossletoeAndWine · 04/12/2006 15:34

Arrgh! You go away for five minutes and suddenly everything's changed!

Hope everyone's okay; I'll read everything later I promise. I've actually had three clients call me today asking me to submit candidates to their vacancies! What's going on? How dare they interrupt my mning and making pointless telephone calls about barely adequate candidates to make me do some proper work, eh?

And is it just me or does "fwink" sound like a euphemism for something rude

Lovin' these festive smileys though.

divastrop · 04/12/2006 18:01

hello.

boo-i dont sing officially anymore, just around the house when im in a good mood(its been a while).i was classically trained but i prefer to sing show stuff and i used to go and see musicals once a month with my mum when i was in my late teens.those were the days!

fox-sorry,i missed the bit about you being ill,hop eoyure feeling better soon.

dd2 has a bad chest again ,i was back at the doctors where we seem to spend half our lives this morning.just got the usual 'viral infection, give calpol ...etc'.she also had a sore throat and her bottom is producing nasty things(sorry tmi).i hope shes better for her birthday on wednesday!

kitty/rosy-if i go to bed and get woken by my alarm rather than a child i panic thinking that something awful must have happened to them all.i dont think children regularly sleep reasonable hours till they start school full time.

my back is aching and im in pain ,dont know if its braxton hicks ,the bump growing or severe wind left over from the tummy bug.

morocco · 04/12/2006 18:54

hope you're all doing Ok. I feel like I've landed in the 3rd trimester already, big as a house, uncomfy and bad tempered with backache. Hope it all goes away again and my nice bounciness comes back. Lots of late night long baths have been helping but I feel like I need to put my feet up more.
rainbow - hope you're doing Ok. It is a bummer meeting up with non mum/preggers thin people sometimes but I bet she was just awed by your tummy - making a baby is a pretty amazing special thing to do!
fox- hope you're feeling better
diva - sorry neighbours are annoying. Don't worry, soon you will get your own back with screaming baby. You could record the cries and then play them loudly against the wall while you and babs pop out into town
still not decided when to take mat leave or whether dh should take pat leave or not - it's a bit of a salary cut tbh and not sure it's really worth it. maybe just some holiday time off would be better?

rainbowgirl · 04/12/2006 21:56

oh ladies, i don't feel like posting, feel too miserable and low.. just seems like everything is going wrong. i dont' know how to handle all this stuff and be 24 weeks pregnant as well. maybe i am just not strong enough. do i seem strong to an external observer?? tell me i can do it! my day today was summed up by getting to the shops to buy the groceries i can manage to carry in one go, dropping the milk at the counter and it spilling all over the floor.. i have never experienced not being able to do a proper weekly shop and have someone else carry all the heavy bags.. i mean when i was a single mum before i wasn't pregnant, so it wasn't the same iyswim.. i realise how mollycoddled i was when i was pg with dd, my x-p bless him wasn't the greatest, but he did a LOT compared with the help i have now, which is nothing except for emails which are screwing up my head and not helping me at all.... any advice welcome. i'm in a bit of a state. xx
