Thought I'd start a new thread as the other one's about to run out.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Rosybumpily · 23/11/2006 11:28

Ooh I'd love to see your labour Kitty. Is it easy to find somewhere or will everyone on the thread have to be posted a copy

Fox, Ireland has changed massively and you would really have to go to the back of beyond in search of that rustic, simple life now. I do think the culture will always be typically laidback though but new problems are arising now along with all the sudden wealth, racism being one of them unfortunately.

This must be the hormonal grumpy cow phase because I've been biting the head off dh and I'm usually totally sweet at all times

24 wks 4 (boy)

muppetisacat · 23/11/2006 11:49

Reckon I may be able to beat you all on the grumpy pregnant woman stakes (actually evil cow mother stakes)...

Yesterday I got so annoyed with my 7 yr old ds for ignoring my umpteenth request to put his pyjamas on, I threw a complete wobbly, grabbed his helium star glittery balloon my mil had given him from her 60th and stamped on it in a fit of temper....

You have to ask yourself who is the child don't you...

Full of remorse straight away - am normally quite calm person but my hormones are all over the place.

Wonder if i'll ever be forgiven?

24+5 (boy - poor thing he'll be panicking away inside at the moment wondering what the hell kind of mother he's been given...)

msrlmoss · 23/11/2006 11:55

Fox, I have a cat as well but he's very low maintenance!

How long before you can leave a baby with a cat flap, some dry food and a bowl of water do you think? Or is that still considered a bit of a "no no" by social services?

AmieR · 23/11/2006 12:13

hmmm maybe, Moss!

I'm so nervous about Health Visitors coming round. I imagine them to be a lot like that woman on that program.. how clean is your hose or whatever its called.

kittywits · 23/11/2006 12:19

excellent balloon stamping muppetisacat, you are a woman after my own heart!!
Doesn't it just drive you to insanity when you have to ask and ask and ask and ask and ask............

Hope your tummy gets better soon laidback, take it easy

Rosy foxy has a copy, she might be able to send it to you, perhaps download it to her computer and then send it. If not then I'll happily send you a copy

harktheheraldfoxessing · 23/11/2006 13:01

I'm always afraid one of my neighbours will call social services because of all the shouting coming from our house, 'specially at breakfast time: "FOR THE TENTH TIME, EAT YOUR BREAKFAST - NOW!!!" .

However, my neighbours are Moroccan and Greek Cypriot and both families assure me that they can shout much louder than the English or Irish

Rosy - of course I'll send you the DVD. Do you want to text me your address (07779-289-041). I have a local MN book swap at my house on 2 December so if you can wait till then I'll ask one of the more techy MNers to download it to my PC before it wings its way to you. Am useless at things like that

Rosy - has there been an influx of new communities into Ireland since the economy has improved and with the new countries joining Europe? DH lived there in 1990 and there weren't many immigrants, even in Dublin. He was very popular though as he's Aboringinal Australian and generally got the response of "any fellow victim of the English colonies is a friend of ours!" People would fight over who could buy him a drink first!! He lived in a house owned by Fintan Vallely - have you heard of him - he's a writer/musician?

onilly · 23/11/2006 14:30

helllloooo ladies.

Its been ages since I've popped in and have taken my lunch hour to sort of catch up. I dont know - I am just very knackered at the moment and it feels like work is sucking me dry. I have become horribly antisocial and quite moody... and fantasise about my duvet and pillow pretty much all day.. Lucky that DH has been travelling or I am sure we would be divorced by now! I feel like such a bitch.

I simply cannot understand this tiredness... its an effort to even speak!

Well,
Boo - Yes, watched the Prof Winston show and was both overwhelmed and put in my place for my "luck" its played on my mind since... esp the family that had twins and one died... aw. I went to pieces. I did'nt follow what you and your DH/P need to do, but it sounds serious and I hope it goes ok ?

Dolly P : Crisps !!!! thank god its not just me! DH has decided that he needs to invent "Paternity Pants" for men to support their hard / blue / very sore nuts!

Kitty : How are you ? You sound your chirpy self again?

Foxy : I am also lurking in MotherCare and Mama's Papa's however, in a slightly wide eyed very trancelike fashion. This is the first time I have been in these shops and they kind of FREAK me out!

Hi & welcome Amazonian and glad to hear you on line Piffle... hope the recovery gets faster for you.

Sorry - LONG one, but wanted to say hi

leogaela · 23/11/2006 16:09

Onilly, i felt like a fraud for ages when I was pregnant with ds when I looked at maternity clothes or baby stuff. It was a really wierd feeling. I don't think I really believed I was having a baby until he was born. If you are feeling tired then take it as a signal that your body is telling you that you need to rest.

Laidback, hope the tummy is better.

Hospital appointment went well. the babies are doing really well, both the same size and both on the 50% growth chart for gestational age. I feel really, really happy ! I have glucose in my pee so have to go and have a blood test next week, going to completely cut out all the sweet food I've been eating (well try to anyway!). Had discussions again about the possibility of a normal birth. Ended up argueing wiht dh when we were discussing what the doctor said afterwards, he thinks I have a trauma about ds's birth , I definitely have issues, wondering if I should go and talk it through wiht someone, especially if it does look like I'm going ot have to have another cs.

JemK · 23/11/2006 17:18

Hi all,

I'm heading for the third trimester and have only just discovered this site/link - hope my unborn child is quicker off the mark than me. Can someone explain DD? DS? DH? Nice to meet you all

harktheheraldfoxessing · 23/11/2006 18:07

Hi Jem and welcome - if you look at the top there is an acronym list amongst all the links. DH = dear hubbie, DP = dear partner, DD = dear daughter, DS = dear son etc

Leo - that's fantastic news. You're going to have two bouncing twins you lucky moo Did they say you would deliver a teeny bit early as its twins? What does DS think about having two new baby siblings?

Onilly - fab to have you back, I missed you! When are you starting your maternity leave? I going to try and keep going until half term (16 Feb)- 2 weeks before EDD, but am feeling so knackered I'll have to see how it goes.

Ditto with me regarding social life. Can't even be bothered to call my friends, it all seems to much effort. All I can manage is keeping the kids clean and fed and waddling to work and back.

I had two horrible things happen to me today:

Firstly, I went into internet explorer at work and a horrible porn image popped up - I felt quite upset. Informed our IT dept as I also got a message saying Spywear had invaded !!

I went for a walk to the bank, still feeling a bit upset and fell over flat on my face in the street. All I could think of was whether baby is OK and "OMG everyone must think I'm a drunk" . Luckily two lovely women came and helped me up.

I was so shaken I had to buy a Cadbury's Flake .

Baby is still moving so hope he is OK. His movements seem the same, so that seems good.

kittywits · 23/11/2006 18:31

Oh, poor you Foxy, you must be very shaken, it's horrible falling when preg. Baby sounds fine though. I'm glad the flake did you good, should have had 2 .
I just got an email from you today, sent on the 15th. There's some crappy internet stuff going on here, so, sorry if I seemed rude for not replying .

Welcome jem

Onilly glad to have you back. I am a bad tempered old witch at the moment. I think it's tiredness. It also really pisses me off when the kids stand in front of me because I fall over them as I cannot see the smaller ones beneath my fat stomach. The kids then get really angry 'cos I've trodden on them .

Excellent news leo, really pleased for you

msrlmoss · 23/11/2006 18:50

Oh Fox you poor thing falling over like that! You must have been really scared, hope you are better now!! A cadbury's flake eh, you must've been shaken!

Hello JemK!

I had my appointment with the mw and no, I can't change my edd but she did cheer me up; I got to hear Bertie's heart beat (can't believe how fast it was) and she measured my bump and said I was about the right size for where I was, so I was well made up!

harktheheraldfoxessing · 23/11/2006 18:54

msmoss - Baby has responded to the chocolate by leaping about, so I feel reassured. I was cross, 'cos the internet image upset me and made me dippy and it annoys me that I had to see something I didn't want to .

Kitty - I was trying not to laugh at the image of you tripping over all the LOs. I know it wasn't meant to be funny

Glad you got the e-mail eventually though.

amazonianwoman · 23/11/2006 19:34

Fox - sorry to hear about the fall, hope you are OK and I'm sure baby is fine. I think you did v well to restrict yourself to just one Flake. I've had 2 Mars Bars today, oops

I've suddenly realised that walking has become a major effort, esp the hill (well, slight incline) on the way back from the village to our house. Anyone else already slowing down/waddling?!

Welcome Jem

Baby is really moving lots now, not just when I (rarely) sit still. Placenta was at front with 1st pregnancy, but posterior this time, so it feels like it could poke its way out of my stomach. Significant layers of fat might just stop it though...

25+2 (surprise)

eidsvold · 23/11/2006 20:36

here laid back - hope you are feeling better.... had a dire dose of food poisoning earlier in the year and it was not a pretty site - so huge sympathies to you.

Just getting very busy working towards christmas season and end of year break ups for kindy, school etc. Lots to do in the next couple of months as well as everything being in recess for the 6 week summer break.

off to the coast for a long weekend - just chilling at the beach and in the pool with the dds and dh.

22weeks today ( aus time!)

morocco · 23/11/2006 22:35

so jealous eidsvold!! no more talk of beaches, pools or sunshine please it's freeezing here you know!
sorry to hear tummy bugs are going the rounds again - it seems really bad this year at ds nursery and he brings back all kinds of horrible bugs
hope you are all getting a good rest. I'm still quite bouncy but starting to sleep less well at night which is quite annoying (when you lie there thinking 'go to sleep go to sleep') definitely bad tempered and unreasonable - poor dh.
now having ethical dilemma about edd and mat leave stuff
no other news - honestly, this pregnancy is a breeze compared to last two!
25 wks? girl

harktheheraldfoxessing · 24/11/2006 06:17

Morocco Hi - sleep? I keep waking up at about 4am and can't get back to sleep. Then feel knackered all day long, after lying in bed between 4am-6am unsuccessfully telling myself to go back to sleep

Eids - wow you lucky thing with your weather over there. Its nice here when its cold and crispy but miserable when it keeps raining all the time. Are you having a boy or girl or suprise? I can't remember

Amazonian - I am waddling too - feel realy slow and cumbersome atm. Actually feel about 90!!

Has anyone read "Puffle" by Fay Weldon?

Its about a woman who persuades her DP to move from London to the ideal country cottage. She gets PG and he decides to stay in London midweek, sewing his wild oats !. Turns out the woman next door to the country cottage is a local witch . The book is very funny and follows Liffeys baby's gestation in incredible detail and it transpires she has placenta previa. Its a great book - finished it at 4am this morning.

25+5 (baby boy)

harktheheraldfoxessing · 24/11/2006 06:36

Lunar - the Cybermask arrived yesterday. Its huge isn't it?? Thanks a million for getting it and going to the trouble of packaging it all up and posting it to us. DS will be so excited - he's wanted one since about June! You've made a small boy very happy

We have a nice mellow day planned today - coffee with school mums at 9.30am, then collect DD, lunch and watch Doctors together - then collect DS and round to a friend for tea. Friend has a son same age as DS and she is also PG. Was TCC for 6 years and her baby is due the same day as mine!!! Have mentioned her before.

leogaela · 24/11/2006 09:23

Fox - at you falling over! Why did you fall, did you trip?
The consultant won't say anything about when to expect to deliver, but everything I have read says that full term for twins is generally considered to be 37weeks, and somethign like 50% are born before then. Ds was born just over 37 weeks so I don't know if that is any indication! Good thing is at the moment cervix and everything is looking perfectly unlike doing anything and they still have lots of room to grow (that is, they can still kick my ribs rather than being wedged right up against them) !

JemK - great to have you joining us ! There si also a stats thread if you want to add your details.

Kitty - I also had to laugh at you not being able to see the little ones under your feet !

Fox - it sounds like a nice day planned. Today I was supposed to be going for a girls spa day with my bf who is due on Monday, this would be the last chance for quite a while, but her ILs have decided to turn up a bit earlier than expected (looking after her dd while she is in hospital) and now she has to entertain them !

eidvold - chilling at the beach and pool sounds like a wonderful thing to do right now!

Rosybumpily · 24/11/2006 10:18

Laidback everytime I go to Pakistan I get cryptosperidium I wonder is that what you've got. Its a rotten one!

Kitty I am also tripping over my two little ones who do exactly the same thing! creeping up on me in my blind spot!

Welcome Jemk

Fox, I'll txt you my address and if you get round to it that'd be great if not don't worry, you are a bit busy at the mo! I'm also a technophobe. My ds age 15 teases me.
Its horrible falling. You poor thing, I fell on the stairs a bit the other day and hurt my bum and could have done with a flake to calm my nerves afterwards!
Ireland is being flooded with eastern Europeans 'stealing all the jobs and houses' honestly its a bit cheeky of irish of all people to begrudge others emigrating for a better life! And there is a huge black community now in and around Dublin but still hardly any in Belfast but a big well settled chinese community up here, Anyway I love the diversity.
Dh (pakistani) enjoys great popularity for being 'different' he's first generation so he doesn't have much of an irish accent.

Leogaela Its great to hear the twins are doing well and equally well too!

I'm a grumpy antisocial cow at the moment constantly nagging and moaning. I'm sick of myself!
24 wks 5 (boy)

Rosydingdongmerrily · 24/11/2006 10:34

Rosygrumpily would be a suitable name for me at the moment but I'm determined to improve my personality! (And I am very excited about christmas)

kittywits · 24/11/2006 10:56

There are quite a few of us with mixed race children aren't there? Or is it just my imagination?

Got to think of a christmas name now.

I feel quite sad because a friend of mine who is due mid feb has just found out that it is unlikely her baby will survive post birth. She's been having lots of scans because they thought something was wrong, different sized kidneys ertc. but weren't sure what. I've been told this second hand and I haven't seen her this week. I feel so so sad for her. I cannot imagine what it must be like to be in her position right now.
So when i catch myself moaning about being fat and tired I feel just so happy and blessed that ds3 seems in rude health.
I keep hoping that somehow the consultants have got it wrong and I'm clinging to that. I guess I'm the last person she wants to see right now though

kittywits · 24/11/2006 10:57

23+2 boy

JemK · 24/11/2006 11:03

Thanks to you all for your warm welcome. So sorry to hear about your friend - must be horrible and makes my whinging about having to do a night shift tonight sound pretty hollow. Re: mixed race children, are people going to try speaking two languages at home? DH is Finnish so struggling to find names that suit both sides and worried about the logistics of DH speaking to abeb in finnish the whole time

msrlmoss · 24/11/2006 12:03

Oh kittywits so sad about your friend. Is there even a tiny chance baby might survive?

Amazonianwoman, I am properly waddling now. Last night the escalator at Lime Street was broken. I had to stop three times on the walk up it!

Rosy I am excited about Christmas as well. I put some Christmas songs on my ipod the other day and have been listening on the way into work! I should change my name to something festive, how do I do that? (Should prolly change it anyway it's rubbish but it's the same as my email address so it's easy to remember)

Got a horrid email from a client this morning about a candidate I placed who is now pg. I need some advice on it actually and have done a post in the employment bit so if any of you get a mo, some advice would be useful!!!
