Thought I'd start a new thread as the other one's about to run out.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
msrlmoss · 22/11/2006 12:15

Booboobedoo, I was going to watch it but then thought it might make me cry so I chickened out! I fell asleep on the sofa anyway so it would have been a waste even if I had!

Fox, glad you like the name, it's a good job he is a boy because neither me or dh could settle on a girl's name we loved, so we picked a compromise one that we both thought was okay-ish! I do hope Bertie takes after me regarding Dr Who; dh hates it (but that's 'cos I fancy David Tennant).

Looking forward to my first midwife's appointment tomorrow. Still haven't felt Bertie kick yet but was told about three weeks ago it was because of where my placenta is. Still, it will be nice to hear his heartbeat just for reassurance!!

LunarSea · 22/11/2006 12:18

Foxy - we don't even watch Dr Who, so I've no idea how ds even knew about Cybermen. So no cards here (he is only 5 after all).

Booboobedoo · 22/11/2006 12:32

I watched it because it's fairly certain that DH and I will have to go through ICSI if we want another baby, and I wanted to get an idea of the process.

We're freezing DH's sperm before he comes off the treatment, and have been told it's suitable for ICSI.

Ideally we'd like to have the same treatment as last time, but we probably wouldn't get funding, and it's incredibly expensive.

We'll do whatever it takes though!

Anyway, I'm going to enjoy this one first...

Boo - what did you think of it? I was absoluely glued last wee, but fell asleep last night too (9pm is my bedtime atm)

missmoss - I like David Tennant too, yum yum. Funnily enough, my Mum used to really fancy Patrick Troughton when he was Dr Who! He lived near us in Kew and used to come and talk to my brother all the time, as he knew my brother was a big Dr Who fan!

Lunar - I bet you anything your DS is collecting some kind of cards within 18 months!!! Dr Who, Pokamon or Football cards Make the most of this period when he is still innocent! LOL

Kitty - haven't got the DVD yet, but our post hasn't arrived yet today. I hope the postperson hasn't been mugged with the DVD on them!!!! I can't wait to watch it

harktheheraldfoxessing · 22/11/2006 13:21

week, not WEE!!!!

LunarSea · 22/11/2006 13:27

foxy - Courier has just been, so parcel should arrive tomorrow.

harktheheraldfoxessing · 22/11/2006 13:39

Fab - thanks Lunar

Now I have to plan how to get it and hide it from DS until Christmas!

AmieR · 22/11/2006 14:15

I think I must have been a wuss as Cybermen scared the heck out of me! LOL

kittywits · 22/11/2006 14:26

Fox it was posted first class on monday, not that that means much. Oh well, let me know if it arrives, if it doesn't I'll do another.

harktheheraldfoxessing · 22/11/2006 15:08

Kitty - post person has just been (at 3pm - this country is going to the dogs!!!! ). DVD has arrived and will have a peak today

Lunar - Cybermen scare me too - they look and sounds like nazi stormtroopers to me! Small boys, however, seem to love them. In fact even DD 3 marches round saying "delete" and a flat Cybertype voice.

kittywits · 22/11/2006 16:19

hooray, let's hope it plays ok!!

harktheheraldfoxessing · 22/11/2006 17:52

Kittywits - thanks for sharing your birth story with me via the DVD!

I was a bit overwhelmed TBH - it was such a profound experience and I was in tears when DD finally popped out (specially as she looked a bit like my DD when she was born).

You were incredibly calm given the lack of painkillers and it was fabulous to see a wonan giving birth surrouned by supportive women, in a quiet and calm environment, rather than clinicians in white coats in a medical environment.

You were brave to agree to be filmed too, especially whilst on gas & air

Your children are beautiful (DD 2 has the hugest eyes) and your house looks amazing - the location!

A lot more interesting than that Prima article - to be sure!

kittywits · 22/11/2006 18:13

Foxy, glad you liked it. It was a great experience. very calm and very supportive. I was lucky enough to have both doulas there. One was taking over from the other who was due to go on hols that day so I had the best of both worlds.
I did feel incredibly supported by having all those women around me. I guess that's how it would have been for women before it developed into modern obstectrics.
DD3 is such a calm baby and I think her calm birth must have helped.

dollyp · 22/11/2006 20:02

Hello everyone, hope you're well .

Kitty, your birth story sounds great. Sorry if I've missed it, but was it on TV? I love birth programmes and would have watched it very closely if there was someone i know in it. I really admire you ladies who stay calm and focused. I was anything but, so poor DD didn't stand a chance on the chilled out stakes given her entry into the world.

Booboo - I can't watch programmes like that about fertility difficulties at the moment. I do generally like Prof Winston's stuff, but I can't do things which I know are going to upset me. I often take my pg for granted a bit, and things like that make me feel so sad for the people involved as well as very guilty so I am giving them a wide berth.

Feeling a bit barking and a bit miserable today. Hormones all over the place and very emotional / aggressive. had a huge row with some students this morning, then a colleague who was really pissing me off caught the sharp side of my tongue in a meeting. Was in floods as I got off the bus to collect DD from nursery, and had to have a stern pulling together in the playground. Then they took 25 minutes to find her chart and fill in her book! I sat on the flooir in the end and let her run round as I waited.

Must pull myself together. Sorry for the downer message. Will be back on form tomorrow I hope.

love to all XXX

spongecake · 22/11/2006 21:13

oh dear just had row with mother and ended up banging the phone down-all over my sister and how she can't drive my mum to visit me and her dog which she "can't leave," not even with her husband and 2 children its not ill btw she just luvs it so much- my mum took her side of course. am suposed to be calm but am spending all my time in tears, poor baby

dollyp · 22/11/2006 21:19

Hi spongecake, don't think we've spoken before but I really feel for you at the moment. You must put yourself first and try not to let them get to you. Easier said than done, I know, but you and the baby are the most important people and you don#t deserve to be upset. Families can be so upsetting - try to let it wash over you, and give yourself a treat instead, like a bath, lump of chocolate etc. I haven't expressed myself well but just wanted to let you know I am thinking of you XXXXXX

spongecake · 22/11/2006 21:43

thx dollyp- thats good advice.. am in middle of tea and chocolate therapy. wish my dh was here he's at work. i thought having a baby would bring us all closer, but it just seems to have unleashed a load of new problems. sorry to moan, hope will be ok in a bit

kittywits · 23/11/2006 07:34

Spongecake, my mum is obessed with her dogs. On christmas day they are coming over but one of them will have to leave because of the dogs. It makes me so angry, They're dogs for god's sake, not people. But some people think more highly of their dogs than the humans they know.
I hope you manange to sort something out with your sister and mum, it's horrible when you row with people.

Dolly sounds like you are havinga bad time too. I get very hormonal tired and agitated alot of the time and find it very hard to bite my tongue. Dp usually gets it in the neck

leogaela · 23/11/2006 07:56

Hi everyone,
I'm home alone this morning so have some proper time to catch up agina!!!! I''m off to the hospital to see the consultant this afternoon so I'll also post later to let you know how it went!

Rainbow - I know what you mean about the food thing. My appetite is really bad although chocolate and chocolate cake always seem to go down well. I also like mandarins at the moment and managed to scoff a lot of pineapple last night anything esle is a struggle. More sympathies re your mum, exactly how I feel about the real mother support you need when pregnant and are disappointed not to get it.

Fox, I did do some of the post-pregnancy exercises from Judy Tupler, but was already fit again by the time I got the book so just focused on the stomach thing. the pregnancy one I haven't picked up since I got pregnant but , all my good intentions went out of the window very quickly.

sorry for those of you with lack of sex drive! Pregnancy has finally renewed renewed mine which was terrible since ds was born !

Piffle - hope you are starting to feel better.

harktheheraldfoxessing · 23/11/2006 08:58

Hi

I drove halfway to work this morning before realising I'd left some vital work at home and had to go all the way back to get it. I'd left it at the childminders and was so agitated that when I got there I shouted at DS, who had grabbed my coat and was bleating about the CM not letting him watch Spongebob Squarepants. Felt really afterwards.

Dolly, Kitty and Sponge - I totally agree about feeling hormonal and the worst thing is you behave in a really unreasonable way, then you get the fall out of feeling guilty and ashamed afterwards. We PG women should have warning signs attached to us

On the dogs front, my Mum surrounds herself with cats and dogs as a kind of cover; so she canb use them aa an excuse for not dealing with us. When DH and I bought our first house, we were so proud and invited her over for tea. After 20 minutes she announced "I have to leave as I've left the dog on its own!!!" . I think she just couldn't handle being out of her own comfort zone, which is her own front room.

Anyway, onwards and upwards....

msrlmoss · 23/11/2006 09:36

I'm afraid I'm embarrassed now. I have to admit, I have used our dogs as an excuse if I didn't want to go somewhere!

Although, tbh, they are on their own all day while dh & I work, so it's not fair for us both to then go out in the evening, too, as they'll have been alone for over 12 hours then. I haven't quite managed to train them how to use the key in the back door to let themselves out for a toilet visit!

(But yes, I admit, if I really wanted to go out, we could always ask mil, or a neighbour to pop round for an hour or so.)

Thankfully, the people who we spend most time with are mil & sil and they have lots of dogs, too, so they're quite understanding about not leaving them for long periods, and that kind of thing. But before anyone suspects me of sociopathic tendancies, I'm talking a good few few hours, not 30 minutes here!

First mw appointment this afternoon - hopefully it will go okay!

LaidbackinAsia · 23/11/2006 09:40

Hello all....

My god... have had the stomach upset from hell for the last 36 hours. Wont go into details ..but it was not a pretty sight !

Fox - will text you with my email address DS1 is looking for his swaps at the moment - whic quite frankly could be anywhere in our house ... but he is excited and persevering. Am back in SL now. Shouldn't be too expensive to post cards

Glad most people are doing well and Piffle - reall hope you start feeling better soon.

Any news on Diva's house move and where is Eidsvold ? Hope she is OK.

LaidbackinAsia · 23/11/2006 09:45

Good luck with your midwife appointment missmoss and also with your consultant appt Leo.

AmieR · 23/11/2006 11:24

Is Week 26 the beginning of the end? Am I heading into the third Trimester?

Sorry about your upset tummy Laidback.. hope everything gets better!

Thinking of sucking it all in this saturday and doing my Christmas shopping, Oh how DH is going to love that!

EDD 1/3
26
Surprise

harktheheraldfoxessing · 23/11/2006 11:25

Yeah and where's Evenhope and Onilly?

msmoss - made me laugh with your dogs and I admire your patience. I'm far too selfish to look after animals

Laidback - poor you re the tummy bug. Been tied to the loo for 36 hours?

DS has now done his of which Dr Who cards he's got doubles of and keeps asking "mummy, when are you going to e-mail that boy on the internet, so we can do swaps?" its such an obsession LOL
