Thought I'd start a new thread as the other one's about to run out.

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
amazonianwoman · 20/11/2006 22:53

dollyp - it's good to hear that I'm not the only one who went through a drought period whilst breastfeeding! I thought it was just my advanced years. We even had to resort to ludicrously expensive sperm-friendly lubricant when ttc

I seem to be in a significant minority in that we don't know the sex of baby (altho' I'm convinced another girl) I tried to persuade DH to find out this time but (unusually for me) lost the battle. Would still like to know, if only cos I need to make some curtains for the baby room

callieco · 20/11/2006 23:40

Evening

Kitty - thanks for the pool link. It' interesting that it's heated - I was wondering how people manage home birth pools in terms of keeping it hot enough if you're there for hours cos presumably you'd have to keep emptying water out if you put more in to warm it up. The one you're getting wouldn't have that problem, would it?

Amazonian woman - hello!

I went to MW today. There's two of them doing a job share at my GPs so hadn't met this one before but she was lovely too - feeling very lucky with both of them. Heard the baby's heart - ooohhhh!!!! Was a bit disconcerted to discover that the doctor who saw me at 14 weeks in hosp for first scan has put me down for glucose tolerance test at 28 weeks too Foxy, despite the fact I'm not diabetic, not having any problems with glucose whatsoever, not overweight (was only just over the threshold for normal BMI at start of pregnancy and still only put on 9/10lbs so far). I think it's because my dad developed Type 2 diabetes but I told them that was just diet-related, so MW is ringing the hosp to find out why they suggested it and trying to get me out of it I think. I hope she does because it meant I had to put off getting things in motion for a home birth until it's sorted out. But on the positive side she was really helpful about me going to check out the local MW led birth centres in the meantime.

I'm off on hols tomorrow, so will check back in with you all next week. Oh, and on the sex front - it's DP's birthday today, so his luck just might be in!

harktheheraldfoxessing · 21/11/2006 08:53

Callieco - have nice hols

Dolly - Hi again.I'll think of you next time I buy some crisps

Lunar - that's great as I'll actually be working from home tomorrow. Oooh I'm excited about the Cybermask!! Did you manage to sell the other one you bought? If not, I may be able to find a buyer amongst DS's friend's Mum's/my sister. Let me know.

Hope everyone else is well.

Boo - has the sickness subsided yet?

25+2 (QC adamant its 26+2) and a lively little boy

Rosybumpily · 21/11/2006 09:05

Labour with ds1 (15 years ago) I was so anxious, I was strapped to a monitor so I'd leave the mv's alone And I was happy, I really needed that reassurance.
It was a bit sad, I was in hosp alone in labour all night and so scared, I was freezing with shock and thought the heating must be turned off. When my waters broke I was trembling all over and couldn't stop it.

Thinking of that makes me realise how much I've changed since then! I was a timid mouse!!

I'm definately a witch Couple of times I had horrible dreams, as if I was present at something awful and the incidents were on the local news next day. There's alot we don't understand about the whole 'how the mind operates' malarky.....

As for my mil, she doesn't understand me and (gladly) I don't understand her! She threw her shoe (which is highly disrespectful in her culture) when she saw me take the bottle of milk off dd. I took it away cuz dd was running with it in her mouth and I didn't want an accident. Mil thought I was cruelly depriving her granddaughter of the milk she wanted

I'm a hussy, I' usually really tired, not in the mood, cross with dh, but I'll still be up for a quickie one! I seldom say no
24 wks 2 (boy)

harktheheraldfoxessing · 21/11/2006 09:15

Rosy - I never say no either, so rarely does it happen nowadays LOL All ours are quickies too, usually when the kids are downstairs

I clearly remember TTC one night, with DD asleep on the bed and we both collapsed into giggles trying not to wake her. Also another time squashed into the kids bunk bed and me getting my leg jammed as I was so squashed

I hope you take the opportunity to throw your shoes back and MIL when she annoys you

What's it like where you live? I'd love to live in Ireland. In fact DH and I once planned to do it 17 years ago and still haven't got round to moving!

Rosybumpily · 21/11/2006 09:32

I live outside Belfast and its nowhere special where I am. Dh works and lives around cork which is full of people from England who have escaped the rat race and are enjoying a slower pace of life. Property prices have rocketed but you could probably still buy a big mansion with a seaview for the price of a London semi!

LunarSea · 21/11/2006 09:37

foxy - laidback's having the other one. But if she wasn't I think ds might have claimed it for himself! (He has enough presents though so won't be getting one). I didn't even realise he knew about cybermen as we haven't been watching Dr Who, but he's obviously picked it up from somewhere and knew the voices and phrases too.

Booboobedoo · 21/11/2006 13:25

Morning!

Just popping on quickly to say hello.

Good to hear everyone sounding chipper this morning.

Dolly: bag of crisps .

Foxy: was sick this morning, so no. So much easier to cope with now, though. It really doesn't bother me so much any more. Thanks for asking!

Rosy: what did you do when your MIL threw the shoe? What did you DH do?

For anyone interested I've put up a pic of ds's in member profiles in the pirates costumes

LaidbackinAsia · 21/11/2006 14:49

Foxy - DS would love to do some swaps of his Dr Who cards . Let me know if you want to email me directly with the numbers he wants/has as spares and we can do the same. Don't know if its fair to bore everyone else with reams of useless Dr Who data ?!?!

Had a lovely day for DS1's 10th birthday. Had breakfast , then went for a surf, opened presents and then had supper on the beach One of his fave presents was the Guinness Book of records, so we have been blessed all day with very important information about longest toenails, most piercings etc etc.

Rosy - would you ever consider moving to Cork to be with your DH. One of my good friends lives there and it seems to be a great place . Is that where his restaurant is ?

Any news from Piffle ? ... I hope the scar is healing and you are feeling ok.

Dolly , love your frankness ! One of my A and E Dr friends told me about a young couple who didn't have a condom and so he used a empty packet of crisps instead. They were salt and vinegar flavour and he was ahem.... very uncofortable. Sounds a bit far fetched to me but she assures me it's a true story

Piffle · 21/11/2006 14:57

Hi all
Am so tired... I look dreadful - I ventured out for 1st time in 2 weeks yesterday to pick up dd from nursery - Mum had to drive as I still can't.
Everyone said how terribly ill I still looked
I thought I was doing ok.
I have also lost a lot of weight - which considering I had not put any on (despite eating really well) is not great.
I'm seeing midwife next week, meanwhile mum is feeding me up on confort dinners and apple crumble and custard
Baby is fine - well if movements are anything to go by that is This baby is by far the most active out of all 3 pregnancies.
Feeling so il has really distracted me from my pregnancy so am feeling a little surreal atm.
Hope it passses, got to get xmas sorted in the next few weeks so who knows
Have been thinking about prams - have been reading endless shop catalogues in my bed rest time.
I am allowed a flash pram this time sympathy purchase methinks
down to
bugaboo (dp really likes)
icandy
jane pro matrix -really like that the carrycot is also lie flat or sit up carseat

hope everyone else is doing ok, sorry am not conversing much, sitting up longer than 10 mins takes major effort
luv n hugs
Piff

Noodlekitty · 21/11/2006 14:59

Hi folks,

Been away the past few days so not posted...took me most of yesterday to catch up!

A quickie? Whats that? I've forgotten...if not for my rather obvious bump I'd say I was reclaiming my virginity!

Went to the supermarket last night and checkout girl asked me how long I had to go...when I said four months she was like...oh. Really? You look like your due next week...you must be having a huge baby!

Grrr....

kittywits · 21/11/2006 15:02

Poor you piffle. I remember having mine out years ago and it took me ages to recover. I can't imagine how dificult it must be being preg and having kids as well. Keep eating

msrlmoss · 21/11/2006 18:27

Piffle, hope that comfort food helps you feel better soon!

Everyone who is swapping Doctor Who cards and buying the merchandise, this is something I am really looking forward to! I must confess to being a life-long fan, as was my Dad, and even his Dad, so it's a tradition I can pass on to little Bertie!

And while we're talking about sex, not that we were exactly at it like rabbits before I got pg, but I'm sad to say that I can count on the fingers of one hand the number of times it's happened since then.

All the books say that in the second trimester your sex drive increases, but I'm still waiting (as is dh, very patiently I must say!)

Noodlekitty, same thing happened to me on the train home last night. This drunk couple asked me how "far gone" I was (they had really strong accents too so it took me about three "can you repeat that please"s to find out what they meant!) and when I said it was March they ptsl!

Couldn't decide whether it was funny or annoying!!

LunarSea · 21/11/2006 18:32

foxy - no sign of couriers yet, so I suspect it may not be delivered tomorrow after all

Rosybumpily · 21/11/2006 19:17

Booboobedoo, dh just laughed but his sister was very cross and shouted at their mum. MIl is very elderly and smacks her grown up grandchildren if they do anything wrong! She would probably have smacked me too if she had been close, I should probably take it as a compliment or something

Laidback- Cork is lovely, its middleton and Youghal where restaurants are. Just Ds1 needs to stay put in school now as he moved around alot for a bit and is 15 now. Also when I'm in cork we don't see dh and when he comes up to us he spends more quality time with us. We've done the long distance thing for so long we don't know how to be 'normal'! Pisses me off these days though!

Piffle its good to hear from you and you definately deserve a swanky pram and plenty of comfort food too!

harktheheraldfoxessing · 21/11/2006 19:19

Lunar - no worries. If I'm not here, they can deliver to one of the neighbours (they're all used to signing for our parcels )

missmoss - Bertie will love Dr Who. We grew up wih it too and I can't wait for the next series. BTW I love the name Bertie

Rosy - has Ireland changed a lot? A friend of mine returned there about 5 years ago (she'd been in London about 8 years). She said the whole attitude had changed and Dublin was getting much more like London, in terms of being expensive and commercial.

Boo - really sorry to hear your still feeling sick, you poor thing Bet you can't wait for it all to be over and to hold that bundle.

Kitty - will search out pics of your two Pirates

Hi Noodle - I'm huge too. I went up to a couple of PG women outside the school last week and said "when are your babies due?", they looked about the same size as me but one was due in 4 weeks, the other in 3 .

Piffle - I'm glad your Mum is there to help you and your baby is moving a lot. That must be so reassuring after everything you've been through. Keep resting

Laidback - R U back in Sri Lanka now? Do they sell Dr Who cards there? I'll get DS to make a list of wants and doubles and I'll try and CAT you (doesn't always work though). Or you could text your e-mail address to 07779-289-041. Wonder how much they'll cost to post? DS had a very successful trade today with his friend who came round - both ended up with about 12 new cards and were really chuffed. I have to be careful at the school as the bigger boys sometimes rip off the little ones when they trade. Actually they're not allowed to trade at school but still do, in furtive huddles in the playground!

Got a leter from our MP today asking dawn Primaralo to write off our Tax Credit debt! Doubt if she will but it feels really nice to have someone sticking up for us

harktheheraldfoxessing · 22/11/2006 10:47

Where is everyone?

LunarSea · 22/11/2006 10:54

Am working - and waiting for courier!

AmieR · 22/11/2006 10:55

Feeling Miserable, so keeping quiet. Should cheer up at about 3 pm when the Witch has left work for the day.

Booboobedoo · 22/11/2006 11:25

Morning!

Blimey! There are usually loads of posts by the time I get a chance to check!

Amie: who's the witch?

Has anyone started getting backache yet? My lower back went yesterday (but luckily DH was on hand to give me a lovely massage, which helped). I suppose it must be because I've put so much weight on so quickly.

I actually saw LO's kick today. Made part of my tum pop out! I was about to say I can't wait to meet him, but...

Did anyone watch A Child Against All Odds last night? Very sad. Made me more careful about wishing my baby would arrive quickly.

Hope all's well.

Rosy - I didn't see it last night, but did see it last week and was in tears!

Amie - pop back on when the witch has gone and tell us all about her [miaow emoticon]

Lunar - does your DS collect the Dr Who trading cards? Our DS is doing a postal swap shop with Laidback's DS if you want to join in I'll e-mail you the list of what DS has doubles of and which cards he's after.

Am feeling quite energetic this week, for the first time in ages

AmieR · 22/11/2006 11:41

BooBoo - A lady in her 50's who knows all and is best at everything and treats everyone else like something she just wiped off the bottom of her shoe.
Just getting sick of the way she treats one of the younger girls (19), when infact all it is is jealousy at the end of the day.. oh and she keeps reminding me she doesn't need to work, so I asked her why she bloody well turned up everyday, she just huffed and walked away.

No I missed that.. things like that are really a bit too moving for me at the moment.

DH and I did watch Young Mum and Dad's or whatever on monday night. That was an eye opener.

Cold still got a grip of me, and is now flooding my lungs!

AmieR · 22/11/2006 11:47

Sorry Fox.. X-post.

kittywits · 22/11/2006 11:50
