Thought I'd start a new thread as the other one's about to run out.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Noodlekitty · 16/11/2006 13:16

Amie, my dh is apparently obese too, he's into bodybuilding and all that kind of thing, not a shred of fat on him. I am pretty big, top limit is 35, and I'm 36. I never feel like I am that big tho, cos I'm perfectly healthy, and not one of these hugely fat people you see...I don't have any rolls! Shame, cos I wanted a waterbirth...not to be I guess.

AmieR · 16/11/2006 13:26

Noodle - I'm hoping for a waterbirth too.. may mention it to my midwife next time I see her.

Just seems a weird way of monitoring things, I guess they have their reasons!

LunarSea · 16/11/2006 13:51

Laidback - have emailed you.

Amie - have manged to persuade the to split the deliverables into two lots - so they can have some this week, and the rest next week. Still have a load to do to get the first lot out, but not quite as impossible as it looked yesterday.

Rosybumpily · 16/11/2006 13:55

I don't know how you guys are working especially long and difficult hours. Though sometimes I think it might be easier than being at home. Dd is very grumpy today and being horrible. And I fail miserably at competant housewifedom.sigh

Hard not to be amused by the nits, I'll be laughing on the other side of my face when my children get them!

23 wks 4 (boy)

LaidbackinAsia · 16/11/2006 15:25

Fox - My DS1 is 10 next week and my DS2 is 2.3 and has the words "cyberman", "ood" and "tardis" in his vocabularly along with a few other choice phrases

DS1 found 3 manky dog teeth on the beach today and has decided to make them into a necklace. Don't you just love boys !

Rosybumpily · 16/11/2006 15:32

Ssh laidback, don't remind me! I'm having another one and at the moment ds2 is dominated by dd and obsessed with 'playing dollys' but soon he'll have a little mate in ds3 and horrible monster toys are going to take over again! AAAah that's it I'm off to play dollys with the children while I still can....

LaidbackinAsia · 16/11/2006 15:42

Rosy - is this your 3rd or 4th ?

Rosybumpily · 16/11/2006 15:44

Fourth! Ds1 is 15

shanks313 · 16/11/2006 16:47

Hey,

Thought I would join in the high BMI debate.I have a slightly higher BMI and had to see the consultant because of it.I think im classed as high risk because of it.
I actually lost a stone and a half in early pregnancy and only just recently put 2 kg back on.My midwife has now told me I cant put on any more weight, with around 16 weeks still to go.
Im not going to stop eating the things I want if I crave to have them.

eidsvold · 16/11/2006 20:21

I have a high bmi and the only think they keep asking me to do is glucose tolerance test even though for dd1 and dd2 my results were surprisingly good yet they still were harping on about it. See if they send me this time - although this is the smallest I have been pregnant.

dollyp · 16/11/2006 20:34

Hello everyone

I am sorry about BMI getting in the way of people getting the birth they want. I agree that you can be high BMI and perfectly healthy. I wonder what the risk would be if your BP was ok and you don't have gest diabetes? In my first pg, no one weighed me at all or even asked me what I weighed. THey have asked me once at booking in this pg, and not since thank god as I am a bit funny about it.

Hi noodle, dont' think we've spoken before. I think you joined in my month in the wilderness. . Is this your first? I have a DD aged 19 months who is gorgeous but hard work. I work PT and my ML will probably coincide with DH's redundancy. He is a journalist and they're laying off big time on his paper. What about your DH? How is he doing? Mine is quite chirpy a lot of the time but his lows are VERY low. Oh dear. I didn't help today by nipping out and comfort buying a handbag whilst I was in the village. I had only popped to tesco's to get something for lunch .

Hope everyone is doing well today. I lost a cheque this am as well and so am grovelling for a replacement to be issued. Just checked my work email as well and am now furious with about 4 colleagues. Roll on end of March.

Am still dithering about the date on my MAT b1. I am due at the end of march (26th) and it is a shame to miss out on the extras by a few days. However, the paranoid in my worries about getting found out. Have got an appointment next Tues with the GP so will need a strategy by then. Anyone got any advice about what I should do? ANd if I do go for the 1t April, how do I ask the Dr to do it?

Got a real pickled onion head on at the moment so am about to crack open a jar. God bless Ocado's home delivery so I donm't have to embarrass myself by the number of jars in my trolley at the checkout. Feeling very fat though, so maybe the cheese which I eat with them isn't the best idea.

XXXX

eidsvold · 16/11/2006 20:36

only time I got weighed was for my pre op appt and that was for the anaesthetic. No other time in either pregnancy. IN fact I don't think they did it at all with the first one as it was emergency.

callieco · 16/11/2006 22:08

I've hit the 24 week mark today so bump is now "viable" as they not very pleasantly say. It's funny that whole BMI thing. A friend of mine was about three days away from giving birth at a MW-led centre and her midwife told her she was underweight and would have to go to the consultant unit, which not surprisingly at that stage was a bit of a stunner. In the end they changed their minds and she had the baby in the MWC no problem - don't know what it was all about.

On the work front, as of tomorrow am off for a whole glorious two weeks - hurrah!!!! We're going away for a week then hoping to persuade DP that the spare room/nursery really does need painting before it becomes nipper's room sometime next year. Sorry to all those stuck in long hours hell

harktheheraldfoxessing · 17/11/2006 06:00

Callieco - lucky thing about to have break. Doing anything nice?

Has everyone got their MATB1's? I haven't gor mine yet. Do we get them from our GPs or the hospital? I need to provide mine for work pretty soon me thinks. Have to check their policy but sure it says something about providing it at about 25 weeks.

DS's best friend's Mum is a teacher at their school and she had a baby girl on Sunday, called Aiofe (my fave girls name) Dreamt about her last night. Best friend is coming over for a play date later so hoping I'll get to meet and cuddle Aiofe when I drop him off back home later...will go shopping for a pink and fluffy pressie [broody emoticon]

Went to bed at 9pm lat night and woke at 4.45am - previous night it was 8.30pm and 4.30am. Think I'm turning into a hedgehog.

Had a mug of hot chocolate and a custard tart for breakfast

24+5 (boy, not called Aiofe )

TheBlonde · 17/11/2006 07:47

Just a quick hi to everyone
We are off on "holiday" today (visiting the inlaws)

Fox - check out moneysavingexpert.com - it'll say how to challenge the bank charges

Have a good weekend

(23 + 3 I think)

Jayglebellsjayglebells · 17/11/2006 08:26

morning all, finally found a minute to post. Things here have been really hectic and stressful over the past 10 days, my SIL had a MC at the beg of the week, she was only 8 wks but had been tryong for about 9 mths to get preg things there very tense and my Grandad, whos 84 was admitted to hospital, too many issues to go into really and i wont bore you all, but its not good news on the whole. Have been visiting him and running my Grandma around ( they live 12 miles from the hospital) Have had to have some 'talks' with my Dad, as hes being a right one regarding him visiting his Dad and taking his Mum to visit, another long and complicated issue i wont go into, but just to say that everyday this week i have been out...am so tired, also off to Devon tomorrow which would be nice if we werent staying with the in laws.. anyway, will be back on Wednesday will ry and post then. Hope everyoe is ok, i havent had time to think about my buba much, although hes kicking away quite strongly now, oh and i got my Matb1 form from my midwife on Tuesday.
Take good care of yourselves and spk soon

J xx

leogaela · 17/11/2006 08:43

Dollyp - chances are your baby will be born a little bit late. Is it the due date that counts or the day that the baby is born? If its the due date then put 1st April!

Fox - how do you pronounce Aoife?

i'm really sorry for those of you that have husbands being made redundant. Bad timing !

wow, I've managed to post 2 days running now! Hopefully I will get back into the conversation properly again now!

AmieR · 17/11/2006 09:02

Fox - I got my MATB1 when I had my 24 week appointment with the midwife. Maybe at your next appointment you'll get yours, if thats a way off, just give your surgery/MW a call.

AmieR · 17/11/2006 09:03

Jay I hope things destress for a while.. If that's possible after a visit with the outlaws!

Rosybumpily · 17/11/2006 09:58

Leogaela, Aoife pronounced Ee-fa. I love that name too but wouldn't suit a little muslim boy I guess... I'm delving into arabic names sites but I can't discuss it with dh because he won't let me tell him the sex (humph)

I have put on 1 ton recently
I've now put on 1 and a half stone which is what it is recommended to put on the whole pregnancy. Stuff it, this always happens to me! It'll be another stone at least before I'm finished. No-one seems to bat an eye about weight here though. I was shocked to hear that!

Good luck to everyone with their in laws and money woes and family upsets. Everyone seems to have their own set of stresses and struggles at the moment.

LaidbackinAsia · 17/11/2006 11:11

Rosy - we have quite a few muslim male friends out here. Our close friend is called 'Sabri' which means 'patience', I think. Do your other kids all have arabic names ?

LaidbackinAsia · 17/11/2006 11:13

LaidbackinAsia · 17/11/2006 11:14

SO good they named him twice

Rosybumpily · 17/11/2006 11:18

Ooh laidback, that's a new one I really like Sabri, might be a bit close to ds2...Samir, but will put it on my list! Just dd and ds2 have arabic names. What we do is I make a list of the names I like then Dh runs them by his family then he decides the name, so we both feel as if we chose it!

Noodlekitty · 17/11/2006 11:24

Morning all,

The BMI thing is a pain, but I suppose if thats what they think then I have to go along with it. I haven't had any other high risk factors is all, so I suppose I was a bit surprised by all the fuss. I'll just need to lose some weight before no 2! Lol...bit of severe planning ahead there!

Hi Dolly, yep, this is my first. DH's redundancy will also coincincide with my mat leave, so that could be a positive. TBH, he actually is quite positive about the whole idea in general, he's an electronics engineer, and is really peed off with the whole field in general, there are so few jobs in it up here now! Plus its miles away from where we stay, so he's looking on it as an opportunity to make a break. Just the timing so bad! Fortunately I get fantastic mat pay with my job (I'm a librarian.) so we should be ok...I hope!

I got my MATB1 on my last midwife appointment (20 weeks) have already submitted it. I'm packing up on the 9th Feb (due on 12th March) hoping for a few weeks R&R before bubs comes along and I never get the opportunity again...lol!
