Good Luck with the sweep chicken, sounds like baby is ready to make an appearance, which should make for a successful sweep smile

Glad the monitoring went well scottish

FX for the sweep on Thursday three or that you pop before then smile

Everything has pretty much gone for me, no more discharge, dull period pains have gone and only thing I am still getting is the tightenings. Ah well, thinking my feeling for this week is wrong. Midwife appointment was a standard appointment, next one is on my due date.

Sunshinesaz86 · 12/05/2015 10:25

apple sounds like me! Had monitoring fri and sweep where monitor was picking up contractions. Then had loose bm's then some painful contractions Sunday and nothing now! Very frustrating, due date Thursday will have another sweep a week today. The mw fri at the hospital said I was favourable and shot/thin cervix and I wouldn't be long! Hmm yeah thanks love.

Sounds like a good idea sending your mum to morrisons for any bits u need. I do hope things start progressing for ppl soon.

Good luck chicken I hope this is it x

Chickenfillets · 12/05/2015 12:26

Been to the midwife, she said baby isn't engaged yet Sad she just about managed to do a sweep.
On my notes it says 1-2cm dilated, cervix soft 70% effaced. What does this mean??

Chickenfillets · 12/05/2015 12:30

Also now when I go to the toilet and wipe there's smears of blood and it's bitty if that makes sense? Is this normal after a sweep?

Sunshinesaz86 · 12/05/2015 12:43

chicken it does sound normal as the sweep disrupts the membranes so bloody or streaky mucus is normal as long as it's not bright red and too much of it. The mw should of told you what to expect afterwards. 70% is how favourable your cervix is and soft is good, it can change anytime so don't be too disheartened by it! Hope the sweep helps x

applecore0317 · 12/05/2015 13:01

70% is good, mine was 50% I think. 100% means that the cervix is in the right position for birth chicken.

Bloody mucas afterwards is also normal, I had it, and then it turnes a browny coliur for a few days, the bits are just from the cervix. Sounds promising that she was able to do a sweep when the baby isn't engaged. Get bouncing on a ball if you can

Hope things start before your next sweep Sunshine

Scottishgal78 · 12/05/2015 13:08

So got a phone call this morning saying the bloods they took yesterday have come back showing elevated protein levels. Back in for monitoring. BP seems ok and more blood taken. Waiting to speak to consultant again.

leanne963 · 12/05/2015 14:20

Thanks apple pain eased off and I feel normal again grrrrrr haha! All these false alarms are getting my hopes up!! Hope things get moving again for you x

Oh good luck scottish hope it's nothing that causes any issues, fingers crossed for you!

Seems to be lots of false alarms at the moment! Midwife appointment on thursday so will be interesting to see if baby is engaged!

FeelingBlessed77 · 12/05/2015 14:25

bradders85 · 12/05/2015 15:47

George is 11 days old today and I am still feeling uncomfortable after my 2nd degree tear - think it must be a case of it gets worse before it gets better! i hope so anyway!!

Chookford · 12/05/2015 15:54

leanne sorry you had another false alarm, I'm the same keep getting my hopes up that something may be happening then nothing! Booooo

bradders hope you start to feel a little more comfortable soon...

leanne963 · 12/05/2015 16:17

I just said to DP that I wanted to put the pram up just to pass the time and get excited but I literally took it put of the box and it was already all together and I just had to clip the carry cot on ha! So passed all of 5 minutes lol! But got me excites as I can't wait to push her around in it!! :)

Ooh bradders I bet that is uncomfortable hope it stops hurting soon!

feeling hope the sweep works for you :)

kittiker · 12/05/2015 20:36

Haven't been on for a bit as I took a scunner at this baby never coming - am feeling more philosophical today! Still the same cramping and Braxton Hicks, but had a couple of hours of proper contractions this morning so I figure that's a positive sign. Fx, induction booked for Friday if not - last chance sweep tomorrow!

Yay for Kitty, Ginger and Piglet. Welcome to all the babies!!

Thanks for the great birth stories, Bradders and Blondie,

Bazza, I think Angus is a great name - I've taught a few of them over the years and they have all been completely lovely.

Hope everyone is having a lovely evening. Best of luck to everyone still keeping on!

TotallyKerplunked · 12/05/2015 22:04

Haven't been on for a while as been in and out of hospital with loads of pregnancy issues but came on to say I had baby girl yesterday at 38+6.

My second pre-eclamptic / precipitate delivery and the staff were really great and considerate to the PTSD I was left with after DC1's labour, even though I didn't get the epidural I was promised I was looked after so well and the staff went above and beyond.

Good luck to all those still waiting!

Justyouwaitandsee · 12/05/2015 22:39

Aww congrats kerplunked - that is great news! So pleased your baby is here safely and you were well looked after! Smile

Scottishgal78 · 12/05/2015 22:44

So after a long wait to speak a Dr I'm being admitted on Thursday to be induced on Friday. Blood work is showing pre eclampsia and I'll be 38+5 on Friday so they see no point in waiting. totally I'd be really interested to hear about your experiences with pre eclampsia and anyone else's experiences of being induced! I'm scared but excited!

applecore0317 · 13/05/2015 04:03

Congratulations kerplunked, Great news :) Pleased that she arrived safely.

Scottish, sorry to hear you are being admitted, hope the induction goes nice and quickly for you and that you have the baby in your arms before you know it :)

Kittiker, hope the sweep kicks things off so that you don't need the induction.

lol Leanne, Shame, any other baby things that can keep you busy?

We washed the lining and covers for the moses basket this week and them attempted to put it all back in... was beyond confused about what went where and was close to chucking it in the bin as it's only for downstairs. Thankfully my Uncle had popped by and remembered how everything went from when he had it, honestly you'd think my Mum and I could have managed it, it's the last thing I would have expected to hand over to a man to do ha ha

applecore0317 · 13/05/2015 04:05

Sorry you are in pain bradders, hope it heals soon

Chickenfillets · 13/05/2015 07:53

Had my sweep yesterday and it seems to have done nothing. Baby still hasn't dropped and after about 2 weeks of not being able to sleep, sit or walk due to SPD and also baby crushing my ribs I can't stop crying and getting angry! Booked in for another sweep on Tuesday. Does anybody know what my chances are if I ring up today and ask them if I can have a date to be induced earlier? I literally cannot cope with the pain under my ribs, hips and pelvis and lack of sleep. ConfusedConfusedConfused

Chookford · 13/05/2015 08:21

kurplunked massive congrats on the birth of your daughter..

scottish sorry to hear you are being induced due to PE but baby will be here before you know it... So exciting!!

chicken sorry to hear you are suffering so much, I'm not sure if they can move induction forward but it can't hurt to ask, they will only say no..

Apple glad your uncle was on hand to help!

leanne963 · 13/05/2015 11:03

kittiker hope the sweep works today!!!

totally Congratulations!! Glad you got the support you needed! :)

scottish sorry to hear about the PE, but you are in good hands and get to meet baby on Friday :) wishing you all the best!!

apple i really don't know what to do with myself ha! Tomorrow if going to be a busy day so just enjoying looking like a slob today haha

Sorry you are feeling rubbish chicken :( I don't have SPD but I completely sympathise with you! These last few weeks are very hard!

FeelingBlessed77 · 13/05/2015 11:22

didn't have sweep at mw appointment yesterday. I've been admitted to hospital, been wired upto ctg for the last 5 hours. grrr

OP posts:
Sunshinesaz86 · 13/05/2015 11:58

Ahh hope all is ok feeling

scottish that's rubbish about PE but at least they have it covered and u have an end in sight with your baby coming with the right care.

Good luck with the sweep kittiker

leanne and chicken I too am getting utterly fed up, due date tomoro. If one more person says 'make the most of it' I feel like replying, yeah making the most of my bad back and SPD, peeing 5/6 times a night, needing a crane to get out of bed or off sofa, taking 4 goes to turn over in bed, not being able to put my shoes or socks on, looking and feeling like utter shit, swollen feet and puffy face ok then I'll make the most of it!! Grrrrrrr!! And breath!

Hoping it's not going to be too much longer dp is off to a gig tonight which I'm pleased about as he's not been out in weeks bless him and it's only an hr away, u never know as he's not here baby may decide to get a move on. Doubt it tho!

Congrats kerplunked great news!

KittyVonCatsington · 13/05/2015 12:05
