Chookford · 11/05/2015 05:08

piglet even! Bloody phone Angry

Justyouwaitandsee · 11/05/2015 05:22

Congrats Ginger and Piglet - lovely news!!

Apple - ensure you pack plenty of snack and drink options. If your labour go on for a while and your body doesn't get enough energy then contractions will simply come to a stop. My MW was really stern with me. After 3 days in early labour my reserves were really depleted. I was really thirsty and drinking loads of water and each time she came in she would tell me to stop with the water and drink my juice.

Things I took and ate: boiled fruit sweets, chocolate buttons (also encouraged by MW), carrot and cucumber sticks (cooling and refreshing), babybels (for protein)

The one thing I wish I had was more things heavy in carbs so some flapjacks or cereal bars would have been good.

Drinks wise I took bottles of water, cartons of strawberry ribena (which I drank at least two of) and some tropical lucozade...

My DH also had his own snack and drink selection and took a thermos mug to keep his coffees from going cold...

Justyouwaitandsee · 11/05/2015 05:26

Oh and I also took some packet porridge (meant for either during or after birth) but never actually got round to eating these!

Oh and I also had satsumas and plums - again, which I did eat!

Chickenfillets · 11/05/2015 07:43

I just spent ages reading everybody's posts and I love birth stories. Getting me so excited! It's my due date today but not signs at all!! Having a sweep done tomorrow and praying it works!

Congratulations to everybody on their newborns. Thanks

applecore0317 · 11/05/2015 08:11

Thanks Just and Blondie going to pick up some bits today and will leave DH in charge of the fresher stuff when I pop :)

Happy due date chicken, hope things start for you soon!

I've got my Midwife appointment this afternoon, weeks are whizzing by.

SmileyScooby · 11/05/2015 08:43

longest glad to hear the shower was a success

steph, LP and Three sorry to hear your little ones are being stubborn, hope you don't have long to wait!

apple Yay for successful shopping trip! All I've got food/drink wise (in a separate bag again...they are going to think I'm moving in!!) is bottle of water and flat lucozade (the lucozade sport rather than fizzy) and some dried apricots, dried berries and brunch bars, I figured all small things that might help and if I fancy something more can send DH out. just thanks for the heads up on sweets will add some of these to the bag when I pop to shops later.

piglet Congratulations, can't wait to see the pic Grin

Well no further signs since some show yesterday (TMI had clear like first, then 2 instances of pale brownish jelly - not big blob like see in pics online) we ended up going for 4 separate 30min walks yesterday and I spent the evening on the ball but nothing else....grrr

As I have written above I think the hospital is going to think I'm moving in with the bags I've got...have one large holdall for me (which has got big things like towel and dressing gown in as well which is taking up so much space!!) but I know I will definitely be in for atleast 48hrs after birth so have packed couple of sleeping options incase not comfy, one bag for baby with nappies etc and then bag for life with food/drink etc - extra bottles will be in DH car. Haven't bothered packing a going home outfit for me yet as will just tell DH which clothes to bring in (or may put them in a separate carrier bag to help him!!) Think am going to look through my bag again today as packed it a few weeks ago and forgotten what clothes I have put in!

After doing the washing and bag recheck think today will be a Netflix day...

mumxof3x · 11/05/2015 09:07

Congratulations ginger and piglet.

During all 4 of my labours they havnt let me eat or drink anything but water...which always confused me given everytime I got given a bounty book it had a list of good snacks to pack for during labour.

bad bad night with leo, going to try get an appointment with health visitor today for a check up as he keeps bringing up feeds and milks randomly spilling out of his nose when not been sick and ages after feeding.

Good luck to ladies whos hit their due dates.

Good luck at midwife app apple.

Chookford · 11/05/2015 09:19

chicken happy due date, hope things start moving!

smiley hope things start progressing for you soon! And all you other ladies who are overdue too!

mum hope you manage to get Leo seen by health visitor...

Justyouwaitandsee · 11/05/2015 09:37

Good luck smiley - don't worry about your bags. Better to have everything you might need rather than be caught out. I didn't use 95% of mine but (other than carb heavy snacks) didn't feel I'd missed or forgotten anything. I packed everything for the baby in her changing bag, everything for labour (including snacks and stuff for dh) in another and all post birth clothes and wash stuff for me in a third bag. This really helped DH locate everything as it was needed.

leanne963 · 11/05/2015 09:41

Congratulations Piglet Sorry it was a hard labour but glad he is here in your arms now :D

leanne963 · 11/05/2015 09:50

Thanks for the food advice Just I was going to ask the same think but i saw a thread in the pregnancy section where someone asked the same thing and everyone told her she was ridiculous focusing on food lol But i am glad that my hospital bag full of lucozade and water and snacks isn't an oddity!! haha!

Happy Due date chicken :D

smiley Yeah i feel like i am going away for a fortnight haha, 3 big holdalls, but i hate being unprepared! I wasn't going to take a dressing gown as the one i have currently is a really thick toweled one and i get so hot in it and the ward was sweltering last time i stayed a night in February! So i dunno, do you think i should have it in the car just incase?

Good luck at midwife appointment Apple :D

So we finally DTD last night after months!!! Was hilariously awkward, i was so tense as i just felt like he was going to damage something so i was like a rigid pregnant bean pole lol....well i hope it does something Wink

Chookford · 11/05/2015 09:53

Lol leanne we were the same yesterday morning! Once I relaxed though it was very enjoyable! Grin don't think it's done a bloody thing though!! Oh well at least we both enjoyed being close again!

Bazza2 · 11/05/2015 09:58

I am having a name wobble. We both really like Angus (despite only relatively distant Scottish connections) but what if he comes out next week and doesn't look like an Angus? I always had Edward, Henry, Joseph, Ralph, and Isaac on my list but DP isn't keen. His suggestions have been (oh help) Kenneth, Alan, and Roger. What am I supposed to do with that?! I'm not too. keen on the Alfie type granddad names and the top ten Noah/Oliver/Jacob ones are taken by family members. Any suggestions?

Threesoundslikealot · 11/05/2015 10:21

Kenneth, Alan and Roger! Grin

Why not stick with Angus for now and see if it's an issue once he's born? If he really isn't an Angus, another name might seem obvious at the time?

I've said before how much my lemonade ice lollies helped in my long labour. Went to buy some yesterday (see, I really was NOT expecting this baby any time soon - still haven't packed my bag either) and all Sainsburys had was Mojito lollies. They are only actually lime and grape but I'm a bit worried about the midwives seeing the packaging!!

leanne963 · 11/05/2015 10:30

chook Yeah it got nice towards the end after i relaxed a little bit haha! I keep saying to him 'i promise in a few months i will be more sexy' (deep down i know it will take a lot longer haha)

Bazza oooh that is a toughie! Um keep with Angus and just wait and see, i have been calling my bump Immy for the past 4 months and everyone says 'But what if she doesn't look like an Imogen?' but she already is an Imogen to me :) I do love Isaac too, that is an option if she comes out with a penis lol!

LP20140 · 11/05/2015 10:40

Hi everyone. Things kicked off for me at about 12.30am. Things have slowed down a bit just now though xx

Chookford · 11/05/2015 10:51

Good luck LP hope you don't have to wait too long!

bazza I agree stick with what you have for now and see how you feel after baby arrives, remember it doesn't have to be rushed baby can be names less for a few days if need be... Just make sure you are both happy with your decision!

Scottishgal78 · 11/05/2015 10:58

Bazza I love Angus! We're definitely going Scottish and Angus was on our list but we both loved another name!three lemonade ice lollies sound perfect. I'm not keen on lucozade etc and don't think I could atomach it in pain. Do you take a cool bag then?

leanne my sis recommended a dark robe (for obvs reasons). I got a lightweight black one from Primark for £8.

Threesoundslikealot · 11/05/2015 11:05

Scottish, I had a home birth. I guess though you could send someone down to the hospital shop/canteen for one, although lemonade ones seem too rare. Last time I had Waitrose Cloudy Lemonade which were awesome!

Bazza2 · 11/05/2015 11:08

three I really need some cider ice lollies now. and an ACTUAL mojito.

Scottish I think I've got that same robe. I think it is actually the most flattering thing I own right now! I didn't like the fact it had no pocket though so I made one out of a never really worn pair of pants and sewed it on.

I still really like Angus but just wanted to have a couple of extra names as back up just in case. The search will continue! (But without Kenneth).

bradders85 · 11/05/2015 11:39

Good luck LP and congratulations piglet :)

Scottishgal78 · 11/05/2015 11:50

Just had mw appt. BP up, protein in urine and apparently I have a puffy face. Heading for monitoring? Anyone else had this and it's been a false alarm for pre eclampsia?

Sunshinesaz86 · 11/05/2015 12:15

Oh no that's not good scottish hopefully it's nothing too serious however they may decide to get u started soon. Good luck let us know how u get on.

Good luck lp Smile

Congrats piglet great news!

bazza I too like Angus however having a couple of back ups is always good too. We have a girls name we think but not a boys! We're going to wait n see what we have then can concentrate on what to choose and what suitS.

Oooh three love an ice lolly I've been having calipos recently.

Oh dear, I had a few twinges last night couple of painful contractions that went. This morning I've lost some plug and had a loose by (sorry tmi) had I think I need another
Blush I hope this is a sign of something good! But not getting excited. 39+4

Well done on dtd leanne and chook I hope it moves things forward for u!

Happy due date chicken

Good luck smily

And hope your app goes well apple
